Chapter Two: The Trap is Sprung:
Warning over the top violence Wild, Wild West Style.
Cairo Illinois:
James West had got into Cairo a day earlier and was expecting to head on from there to St. Louis. Of course that was not to be, he was once more in a bar fight and enjoying every moment of that. Oh sure he had not started it and these were henchmen of Dr. Loveless but all the same he did enjoy a good fight. He was one of the best out there, and due to his ability to heal very fast he went all in on these fights. Most men would avoid them if they could, or end them quickly but not him. No he liked to see how many men he could take out. He ran up the stairs to the upper balcony (many saloons were designed this way) and he took a flying leap right into a group of the henchmen below.
He started to get beat up really badly, he was held down for a moment but then he used his feet to attack and threw off his attackers. Then he was on the offensive plowing through men with his fists. He had to work at this fight and he did as he managed to take down three of them before a chair was broke over his back. He staggered and turned to block another chair and took down the man who hit him in the back. He walked up to the bar where the bartender slid him a drink and downed it. He was not really thinking very clear when he did that and he went back to fighting. Soon enough things started to feel off and fuzzy, he heard laugher and the henchmen backed off.
"Oh Mr. West you never seem to learn do you?" Loveless said from where he stood, "You have made me very upset!"
"Is that not your normal state in seeing me?" Jim asked struggling to grip a table to stay upright.
"You are going to suffer and die, but not before I get Mr. Gordon and kill him first!" Loveless said.
"I don't think he will like that." Jim said.
The last thing he remembered before passing out was more laughter. He had to have been out for sometime as he woke to find himself lying on a cold hard table that he was bound to. He found he was shirtless and clad in a pair of canvas trousers and not much else. What he could see of the room was a cold white tiled space with instruments all around for science and other things mainly torture for him. He really did not like Loveless, the evil doctor love to cause him pain and he was really getting tire of this.
He felt fear, real fear and showed it for a moment, he had no idea what was to happen and did not like that at all. While he healed up just fine and rather quickly at that, he still felt pain and could be killed. He had a very few scars, mostly from being shot and once knifed, but things like being beat up and even being whipped did not leave the scars that they should have. He hated electricity the most as that had the most lasting damage though it did not show. He would feel the effects for weeks after even if he was mostly healed. His nerves certainly remembered and Loveless knew exactly how to deal with him, one of the machines was electrical of some sort. Jim mused on how the world would be shocked at how advanced some parts really were, and what lengths people like him had to go to in order to stop people like Loveless, who was now gloating standing over him on a desk. He came back to the present and his dire situation.
"Welcome Mr. West! This is my newest laboratory as it where." Loveless said, "you have been a thorn in my side for far too long, and you are going to suffer before you die."
"Nice place you have." Jim said sarcastically, "so what is the plan?"
"I sent a gift to Mr. Gordon, he will get the clues and come here, and then you can watch while I kill him then you." Loveless said, "but first I am going to show you my displeasure with you."
"Oh and how are you going to do that?" Jim said, he could not help but needle Loveless, he knew he was going to be in pain but he needed some entertainment before hand. "I can't say I like the company."
"Electricity! I am going to enjoy this." Loveless said an evil gleam in his eyes, "you might not."
"I am guessing that is the point." Jim said.
Hours later Jim came awake slowly. He ached all over and Loveless had been very, well he had certainly been into the torture to hurt him as much as possible. Jim had one more trick up his sleeve, well he did not have a sleeve but he had a false patch of skin on his arm. In this was a small bit of metal that he worked free and used to undo the first bond on his wrist, then he went for the other, then got himself free at the waist and feet. He was up and out of the chamber and headed out when he came on several henchmen. This was going to be fun.
He was in pain, hurting but he was alive and still able to fight. This he did and though he was out numbered (like he was most of the time) he still fought well, and it was not one on one at all (normal for him) but he proved he was the better fighter. He fought his way through and plowed his way through. He was attacked from behind but managed to take down his attackers with several punches and kicks. Then he was heading out of the corridor he was in only to find himself tackled and thrown into another room. He was back on his feet and ready to fight when he heard the sound of several guns and rifles being cocked and he turned to see an amused Loveless.
"Very good Mr. West, but it was futile." Loveless said, "it seems you are going to keep being a thorn in my side."
"So glad to be helpful." Jim retorted.
"Bind him." Loveless said and Jim struggled but was bound tightly, "now Mr. West for that escape attempt I am going to have to have you punished."
"Had to try." Jim said.
"You try that again and I will slowly kill Mr. Gordon, you don't and he dies quickly." Loveless said.
"You don't even have him, why would I agree to that?" Jim said.
"You don't have much of a choice, bring him, a taste of the lash should sort you out Mr. West."
While Jim was taken away to be given a very unjust beating, one of the men who worked as a servant at this house was finishing cleaning. He was a former slave who had escaped an unjust master who had beat him and hung his brother, he took the plans of his master and went to Grant who took the young man named Robert in as his personal valet. Robert took the last name of Freeman and when Grant learned he could read, write beautifully and was very smart, he made him an agent in the secret service. Robert was here to help trap Loveless and while he wanted to rescue Jim he could not, Loveless had to be trapped as well and all he could do was send off a telegram and hope for the best.
"Boy, Sarah needs your help." One of the henchmen said.
"Yes sir." Robert said knowing how to play his role well, "the parlor is cleaned sir."
"Good. Now get!"
Robert did and entered the kitchen where another agent was cooking. Sarah was an older woman with skin darker than his and she smiled at him. He nodded and both hoped that help would come and quickly. Loveless was out of control and they both knew exactly what Jim was going through now and hated it. For now they played their roles well, Sarah cooked and Robert brought in more wood for the stove for her. They looked like docile peaceful servants but were anything but peaceful docile servants at all.

So yes, several fight scenes (because why not) and yes Loveless is once more humiliating and hurting Jim West. Though I did leave much of the torture out of this as well, as the show did show a lot of violence but not as much torture as one would have thought.
I wanted to include a new ally and agent right in Loveless camp so to speak that is not on the evil doctor's side at all. Never look down on the hired help, they probably are smarter, stronger and could be secret agents after all. :)
Anyway, do review please!
