Author's Note: Hello, hello, all! =D Here's the next edition to "Sticks and Stones," which is another drabble. =) It doesn't really have a specific time zone in HTTYD since this is just a reflection on Hiccup and Toothless' strong bond, so I just put post HTTYD 2 since that's what I originally put for this drabble idea. X)

I hope you guys enjoy "Brothers!" =D

Summary: Hiccup and Toothless share a strong bond. A bond that is so strong, that Hiccup even considers his dragon more than just his best friend. Toothless is his brother. (Post HTTYD 2.)

Brothers

A brother is many different things, and they don't have to be blood related. But in Hiccup's case, a brother didn't have to be the same species.

Hiccup and Toothless shared a strong bond. From the moment Toothless allowed Hiccup to perform the famous "touch" on him, the two had been inseparable. Their bond was unbreakable. It had been tested many times, but it never wavered. Hiccup was there for Toothless and Toothless was there for Hiccup. They were always together, and when they were separated, they always found their way back to each other.

Toothless was Hiccup's first friend. Back then, he was his only friend. Hiccup was overlooked by his village due to his scrawny appearance and his sarcasm (which often got him in trouble), but he had found a friend in Toothless. The unholy offspring of lightning and death itself had become his friend. His first friend.

His best friend.

And when they defeated the Red Death, they had something that made their bond even stronger. Both Hiccup and Toothless had lost something. Toothless lost his tailfin while Hiccup lost his left leg. But instead of that tearing these two apart, it made their bond stronger. Hiccup didn't care that Toothless had gnawed his leg off to save him from the flames. He was thankful that Toothless had saved him.

After that day, Hiccup and Toothless shared many adventures with the other Dragon Riders. Whether it was rescuing trapped dragon's or exploring places that no viking had dared to step foot in, they shared many different escapades, misadventures, and even perilous journeys that had strengthened their bond.

To Hiccup, Toothless was more than just his dragon. He was his brother whom he cared for and wanted to protect. Even Toothless seemed to consider Hiccup as one of his own, even if they were two completely different species. A Night Fury and a human, two words that never sounded good together back then.

It didn't matter if they weren't the same species. It didn't matter that one was a dragon, and the other was a human. It didn't matter that one was a feared Night Fury, and the other was a slender boy with messy auburn hair who often got himself into trouble even though he tried to avoid it.

No, what mattered was what was on the inside. On the outside, Hiccup and Toothless seemed entirely different. But on the inside, they were bonded not by blood, but by heart and soul.

They were connected.

They were brothers.
