Author's Note: ACK, I missed a day on posting. Sorry, guys! Family came over to visit yesterday, and we were pretty much hanging out the entire time they were here, so I didn't have any time to post (or write X)).

BUT I am here now, so here's the last part for "A Mission Gone Wrong." I hope you guys enjoy it! =D

Summary: Finally reaching Hiccup, Astrid finds herself having to make a choice. Only one vial contains the cure...but which one? (ROB.)

A Mission Gone Wrong, Part Six

The Dragon Riders launched everything that they had on the Outcasts below. They fired and blasted catapults and bola launchers, and the Outcasts weren't expecting such an attack. The Dragon Riders came in with a bang, dragons blazing and anger searing for their friend Hiccup.

Astrid surveyed the battlefield below. Since she and the Riders were in the air, it was easier for them to evade the projectiles and boulders that were thrown their way. Down below, the Outcasts were running around, refilling catapults and shouting orders at each other. Near the entrance of the dungeons, Astrid spotted Hiccup being held captive by Alvin. He looked awful. His skin was near white, and his usual, bright green eyes were dull. Almost lifeless.

"Cover me!" Astrid shouted to her friends, and without waiting for a response, she dived into the chaos. Astrid and Stormfly dodged every boulder and arrow, swiftly making their way through the battle. They didn't even get hit once. The Hofferson and her Nadder landed in front of Alvin and Hiccup, whipping out her axe. Stormfly's tail spiked out with deadly sharp spines, ready to fire at her rider's command.

"Let Hiccup go, Alvin!" Astrid demanded. Hiccup turned to her, and he smiled weakly. Astrid didn't even have time to react before Alvin tossed Hiccup aside like a ragdoll. The young viking crashed to the ground, and he didn't get back up, which worried Astrid deeply. But despite that fearful feeling, Astrid used it to fuel her anger and determination. She held out her axe, ready for battle, and Alvin unsheathed his sword, even though he was outnumbered. Toothless was slinking behind him, Stormfly was ready to shoot her spines, and Astrid had her axe. All of the other Outcasts were busy below, fighting the other Dragon Riders. It was three against one.

Astrid was ready to let out a battle cry and charge, but she then realized that she didn't need to fight Alvin; she just needed to get the cure. As much as she would've loved to pummel the Outcast chief to pieces, she knew that Hiccup was hanging on by a thread. A battle would take up too much time, and Astrid could tell that was what Alvin wanted. Use up all of the time fighting him instead of saving Hiccup.

Good thing I noticed that right away, thought Astrid.

"Stormfly, spineshot!" Astrid commanded. Stormfly squawked obediently, and she shot her spines at Alvin. He managed to dodge them, but he completely forgot about the Night Fury standing behind him. Toothless fired a plasma blast at Alvin, causing him to stumble over. While the Outcast chief was distracted, Astrid quickly picked up Hiccup and placed him on Stormfly's back. Then, she ran over to where Alvin was on the ground. Before he could stand up, Toothless pinned him, growling.

Astrid held up her axe threateningly toward Alvin and demanded, "Where's the cure for the poison?"

Alvin didn't respond, and he didn't have to. Astrid already spotted the two silver vials glinting on Alvin's belt. One vial was labeled "Poison," while the other was labeled "Cure."

Astrid quickly knocked Alvin out before he could react, and she peered at her two options, scrutinizing them carefully. She heard the sounds of explosions and battle around her. Hiccup didn't have much time left before…

Astrid shook her head, and she grabbed a vial, knowing both in her heart and mind that it was the right one and she ran over to Stormfly. She poured the elixir into Hiccup's mouth, and she mounted her dragon, balancing Hiccup against her carefully. Stormfly flew a few feet off the ground and picked up Toothless in her talons, and she flew toward the direction that led away from Outcast Island. Astrid hollered for her friends to follow her, and they all dodged the last of the boulder before joining Astrid. The Hofferson tossed the empty vial to the ground, and she continued to fly away from Outcast Island.

The glass vial fell from the sky and bounced off the rocks below. It rolled to a stop against a small stone. The label read "Poison."

Astrid and the Dragon Riders landed on a nearby sea stack, and Astrid lifted Hiccup off of Stormfly's back. She laid Hiccup down against a rock and shook him lightly. Astrid had filled the others in on what had happened on the flight to the sea stack that they were taking refuge on, but the others were still confused.

"Why isn't Hiccup waking up?" asked Snotlout. "What vial did you give him?"

That was the only detail Astrid hadn't supplied them with yet. She kept her eyes on Hiccup and answered simply, "The one that said poison."

The Dragon Riders gasped.

"Astrid murdered Hiccup!" exclaimed Ruffnut.

"Wow, A," said Tuffnut with a shocked expression. "That's really low. Even for you. I thought you liked Hiccup."

Astrid rolled her eyes, purposefully ignoring the last comment that Tuffnut said. "I didn't poison Hiccup, you muttonheads. Think about it. Alvin wouldn't just carry two vials labeled 'Poison' and 'Cure' out into a battlefield without some sort of plan. That would've been too easy. It was a test. The bottle labeled 'Cure' was poison and the bottle labeled 'Poison' was the cure."

Fishlegs nodded. "That makes perfect sense. Pretty genius too."

Snotlout, Ruffnut, and Tuffnut, however, were still confused, but Astrid didn't care. She was more worried about Hiccup.

The young viking soon came to and he opened his eyes. He blinked a few times and he looked around, first spotting Astrid, who was kneeling over him, the rest of the Dragon Riders, and the dragons. Astrid sighed with relief and the other Riders were just as relieved to see that Hiccup was okay.

"Wh-what happened?" he asked.

"We saved you from Alvin," replied Astrid.

Snotlout nodded. "You really need to start working on avoiding danger, Hiccup," he said. But despite his slightly sharp comment, Astrid could tell that Jorgeson was glad that Hiccup was okay.

Hiccup sat up, but Astrid pushed him back down. "You need to rest. The cure is still working its way through you, and it's best if you give it a chance to do that."

Hiccup hummed and he laid back down against the rock. "Where's Toothless?" he asked.

Instantly, the Night Fury ran up to his rider and began to lick him all over. Hiccup laughed and he pushed his dragon off. "Yeah, yeah. I'm glad to see you too, Bud."

Toothless crooned happily and Astrid smiled, pleased to see that the two are back to normal.

"We'll wait until Hiccup is feeling well enough to fly before we leave," she said. "We'll just hang out around here until then."

The Dragon Riders all nodded in agreement, and Snotlout, the twins, and Fishlegs walked off. Snotlout, Ruffnut, and Tuffnut were still confused about the vial topic, and Fishlegs was doing his best to explain to them, although he wasn't getting anywhere.

Hiccup shifted where he was sitting. "Thanks for saving me, Astrid," he said. "I don't know what would've happened if you guys didn't make it in time…"

Astrid sat next to him. "It was no problem, Hiccup. You're my best friend. Our best friend. We'll come and pull you out of whatever danger you find yourself in anytime."

Hiccup smiled and Astrid grinned back. She placed a hand on Hiccup's shoulder and said, "Why don't you rest? You look like you could use it."

It wasn't long until Hiccup fell asleep, and Astrid ran a hand through his hair once she was sure the others weren't watching. He was her Dragon Boy, and she was willing to save him anytime and anywhere.

No matter what.
