Author's Note: Hello everyone and welcome back to "Sticks and Stones!" =D This chapter's a drabble, so I hope you enjoy it. =)

Summary: Hiccup and Toothless head out on a flight, and as Hiccup falls, he thinks about how freefalling is both scary and exhilarating at the same time…just like life. (Post HTTYD.)

Freefalling

Hiccup and Toothless had become daredevils. Practically adrenaline junkies.

The young viking had no idea when it had started either. He loved flying on Toothless but falling off of him was just as exhilarating as flying on him. Hiccup smiled as he and Toothless sailed across the boundless, cloud filled sky. The wind ruffled Hiccup's auburn-hair, and the cool wind brushed against him. Toothless stuck his tongue out in glee.

"Okay, Bud, let's climb!" Hiccup shouted. Toothless roared enthusiastically and began to fly upwards, beating his wings against the air and pushing himself higher and higher until he and Hiccup broke through the clouds. Hiccup leaned back, closing his eyes as and and Toothless spun and fell back down to earth. Toothless barrel rolled and spread his wings, carrying him and Hiccup above the beautiful Isle of Berk. Hiccup smiled and he patted Toothless on the head.

"How about we do some freefalling?" Hiccup asked his dragon. Toothless grinned happily and he stayed steady as Hiccup unhooked the cord that attached himself to Toothless' saddle and he got ready to jump.

"Ready, Bud?" asked Hiccup. Toothless roared a response. The young viking then threw himself off of Toothless' back, falling down toward Berk, but he felt no fear. He knew Toothless was right behind him, and he was ready to catch him at the right moment.

Falling was scary, but exhilarating at the same time, but Hiccup hardly ever focused on the fear. He liked the feeling of the wind whipping past him, the feeling of freedom that washed over him as he fell. And as Hiccup fell, he thought about how things had changed for him in the past few months.

It had taken Hiccup a while to get used to all of the new and extra attention he was receiving from everyone, especially Astrid, who he had become rather close to after their experience at the Nest and their first flight that they shared together. Hiccup was now seen as a hero by everyone, and while Hiccup liked that everyone was paying attention to him and actually took notice of him, he still took pleasure in his alone time with his best friend, Toothless.

Losing a leg had taken some time to get used to too. Hiccup wasn't completely comfortable with it yet, but he felt even more connected to his dragon since they both shared something in common: their prosthetics. Their left prosthetics. They had both lost something but earned something in return: each other's friendship.

Life had changed for the young viking, and Hiccup knew that there was a lot lying ahead of him, Toothless, and everyone on the Isle of Berk now that they had made peace with dragons. Other tribes might not approve of their kinship with dragons. Some would attack them. Their friendships would be tested, but Hiccup knew that life was just as scary and exhilarating as freefalling.

And he knew that things would work out for him in the end, just like when Toothless caught him as he fell.

Toothless dived down after Hiccup, and the young viking grabbed at the saddle and attached himself to it. The village down on Berk came into view; Toothless warbled up at Hiccup and the auburn-haired teen smiled.

No matter how crazy and adventurous their life would be, Hiccup knew that he and Toothless would always stay friends.

Even when apart.

The wind ruffles my hair

As I plummet toward the earth

But instead of feeling fear

I feel free

The air is cool and comforting

It wraps around me in an embrace

I close my eyes and take bliss

In its airy kiss

Then all too soon

I land on my dragon

The excitement gone but not forgotten

I sit up

Jump off once again

And I'm freefalling once more

Author's Note: Wrote that poem at the end myself. X) I'm thinking of incorporating more poetry into my fanfictions in the future. =D

Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed this little drabble, and I'll see ya dragonites in whatever comes next! =D

Until the next chapter!
