A/N: I had no intention of getting this chapter out today, but I'm frustrated. I'm glad you all like this story, even those who leave me reviews concerning the fact that I'm using Spanish and not Portugual dialect, but I'M FROM TEXAS, and I DON'T SOEAK EITHER. The fact that I'm trying to differentiate the two is hard enough, but then to have people prick pins into the parts that have you paranoid already. I even left messages in earlier chapters, asking my readers, if they had suggestions or better ways for me to word things in my writing when using the other language, to message me. Don't just tell me it's wrong. Actually help me. I highly doubt this chapter will live up to anyone's expectations, but here, enjoy.

No more different languages from here on out. Everyone speaks English.

Red eyes peered across the oasis of blood and gore. Bodies, puppets, hung neatly along the studio flat he'd taken up since arriving in this futuristic Japan. Naraku had made himself quite the collection. The officer that had been hunting him. The fact that he'd actually thought he was gaining the upper hand on him. Like he hadn't noticed the weakling human following him. No, an insect to his web, he lured the man and utilized him. It wasn't hard to figure out why he was after him. He could smell the Miko on him. Her scent lingered, mingling with the blood of her fallen family. Delicious.

"I'm sure she's had enough time to grieve over the loss of her family..." he laughed, "I want her to feel safe. She doesn't feel safe yet... I'll give her a little more time."

(The Encanto)

Kagome spun around in her new outfit. The skirt tickled her ankle, as long as the Hakama's she'd worn before. In a taupe cream color, colorful designs done in shades of deep maroon and pretty soft pink. It was too beautiful. Her top was long sleeve, in the same maroon color on her skirt, but her favorite part was probably the yellow butterflies scattered here and there on the skirt and shirt. Watching it flare and flow, she smiled up at the mirror, catching Mirabel's eyes as she did. "Thank you."

Mirabel shook her head, "I wanted to make it. I'm glad you like it!"

"You guys coming out?!"

Giving one last spin, Kagome pulled on her shoes and followed Mirabel out of the room she was staying in. Her hair was pulled back into a braid, keeping it out of her face while she went on her tour. Today was all about the Encanto. Getting to meet everyone, see how things were done here, and talk to the other Madrigals. Kagome was excited to see this world she'd only heard about from Camilo. Speaking of Camilo, he was leaning against the wall, restlessly waiting for her and his cousin with Antonio beside him.

"Oh great! You're both ready!" He pushed off the wall, pausing as he took her in. A brush of pink started to rise along his cheeks, and he quickly looked away. "Let's start; we have a lot of ground to cover. Though," he thought for a moment, "you're used to long days of travel, aren't you, Kagome."

Nodding, she glanced to the long stick with string notches that was leaning next to the entrance, "yep. It's no real problem once you get used to it." Reaching out for the stick as she made to pass by it, she paused in her movements and changed her mind. It wasn't necessary, and it wasn't even strung at the moment. Keeping it on her out of fear or comfort wasn't going to help her any. Dropping her hand back to her side, she left after Mirabel, who held out a hand for her. Not hesitating this time. She took the offered hand.

"Where should we start? The gardens are this way! Tia Pepa is mostly in charge of seeing to their growth, and of course, Isabella has been helping a lot with new plants lately, so you'll see those two around each other a lot!" Nearly skipping as she bounced from one foot to another, Mirabel rambled on about each of the roles her family had. Antonio caught Kagome's free hand and gave a small tug.

"We've got a lot of animals here too! Not just the Donkey pen that you saw yesterday or Nacio. But lots and lots of animals more!"

"Will you show me?"

"Yeah!"

Camilo laughed at the state she was in. Kagome chose, of course, to ignore him, but she couldn't conceal her own smile. It was like no one new ever came to the Encanto. How far off the grid had she traveled? "Have...you guys ever left the Encanto?"

That brought the field trip to a sudden halt. The three glanced at her as if she'd said the strangest thing they'd ever heard.

Perhaps it was strange. They had their perfect little paradise; why leave? "Nevermind, it was a silly question. I lived in Japan for seventeen years before finally leaving my home. I shouldn't expect anything else from kids my age. After all, why leave behind what you know is safe and comfortable."

"Why did you leave your home?" Mirabel asked, her hand tightening around Kagome's hand in a show of comfort. Something about the conversation must have given off the vibes of hurt.

Shrugging, she carefully pulled her hands free of Mirabel's and Antonio's. "My home is no longer a place I'd consider safe or comfortable." She had a sudden flashback, thinking of what her mother had told her so many times before she'd run off to the past.

"You will always have a home to come back to."

Tears began forming at the corners of her eyes, "I think I'd like to walk around on my own, actually."

"Oh," Mirabel frowned, "right. Should we come looking for you after an hour or something?"

Kagome smiled, though it didn't reach her eyes, "no worries, I'm pretty decent at finding people." She left the three watching her. Antonio looked like he wanted to follow her, but Camilo picked him up and shook his head at the youngest Madrigal.

Me: I'm aware this chapter is much shorter than my previous ones. I lost the will to continue. No worries, though. I'll be back at it. After all, I have two back-to-back 12-hour shifts to look forward to Saturday and Sunday, and if I can't get a few chapters written during those shifts, then I'm either sick or trading in breathing for a pair of horns. Much love and I'll be back tomorrow! If not here, then Love, Lust & Blood!
