Chapter 6: Infiltrator
Wayne Manor
August 8, 8:30 EDT
Emma was in her room placing a sun cream bottle, a volleyball ball and favourite snacks in her grey blue beach bag.
Underneath her casual clothes, she wore a bright blue swimsuit with a flower pattern and spaghetti straps. The top and bottom were lined with ruffled strips. On her feet were matching sandals with little blue flowers on them.
Emma placed on her domino mask to cover her eyes and picked up her beach bag before heading out of her bedroom.
Outside her bedroom, Dick was waiting for her while holding his own items for the beach.
"Ready, Emma?"Dick asked with a smirk.
"Ready as I'll ever be, Dick."Emma sneered. "Let's go."
Mount Justice
August 8, 9:58 EDT
Blue Jay's POV
Me, Robin, Superboy, Miss Martian and Aqualad walked to the beach wearing our swimming suits carrying beach blankets, umbrellas, chairs and surfboards.
"Hello Megan, we should hit the beach everyday."M'gann remarked.
Robin grinned at first before placing his hand on his forehead and bowing his head in mock remorse.
"But first, a moment of silence for our absent comrade."Robin declared.
"Poor Wally."M'gann said sadly.
I bowed my head down and closed my eyes.
Poor Wally indeed.
He was the only member in the Team to be stuck at school while the rest of us were enjoying our time at the beach.
Though I got to admit thanks to the Amazo's incident, Dick and mine's school was temporarily closed due to undergoing repairs.
I placed my head back up and grinned.
"Okay now that our moment of silence is over...let's hit that beach!"I insisted excitedly.
After we placed our stuff down, we started having fun in cool blue water with the warm sun over our heads.
Me, Robin and M'gann started splashing each other before Superboy cannon balled into the water getting all of us wet.
Luckily I covered my eyes with my arm to prevent my domino mask from slipping off.
After a few hours of having fun in the water, the five of us sat down in the sand to eat hot dogs for lunch.
We then finished our day by playing volleyball, building sand castles, sand burying Superboy and just relaxing under the sun.
Back at Mount Justice, after a fun day at the beach, we got washed up and suited up into our mission uniforms after we were called in.
Once we were all back in our hero suits, the five of us headed to the Mission Room.
There we saw Red Tornado, Batman and Green Arrow waiting for us.
Next to Green Arrow, was a blonde haired girl that wore similar clothes to his.
Just as Batman was about to open his mouth to talk, the computer voice spoke up.
"Recognised; Kid Flash, B-03."the computer's mechanical voice announced.
The zeta tubes light disappeared and we saw Wally arrive in his swimming trunks with a some sunscreen on his nose and holding a cooler, beach ball and umbrella in his hands.
"The Wall-Man is here!"Wally announced. "Now let's get this party star–"
Wally got cut off as he tripped on the pole of his umbrella, falling flat on his face.
The beach ball going bouncing into the main room just past an angry Batman as he watched Wally skid towards us.
Lifting his head, Wally sees us dressed for the mission.
"...ted."Wally finished weakly.
"Wall-man, huh? I love the uniform."the blonde new girl sneered. "What exactly are your powers?"
Wally approached me and the rest of the Team.
"Uh, who's this?"Wally asked.
"Artemis, your new team mate."the blonde haired girl introduced herself.
"Kid Flash."Wally commented. "Never heard of you."
"Um, she's my new protégé."Green Arrow admitted.
"What happened to your old one?"Wally exclaimed.
"Recognized; Speedy, B-06."the computer interrupted.
Red Arrow emerged from the Zeta tubes.
"Well, for starters, he doesn't go by Speedy anymore."Red Arrow stated. "Call me, Red Arrow."
I squealed a little as I rushed forward and wrapped my arms around Red Arrow to give him a hug.
"Welcome back, Roy!"I remarked.
"Hey, Jay."Red Arrow responded.
I let Red Arrow go before I took my place again beside Wally and Robin.
"How come he gets a hug?"Wally questioned quietly.
"Because his not an idiot."I answered in amusement.
Robin covered his mouth to mute his laughter as Wally glared at him.
"Roy, you look..."Green Arrow started.
"Replaceable."Red Arrow finished as he walked forward.
"It's not like that."Green Arrow denied. "You told me you were going solo."
"So why waste time finding a sub?"Red Arrow asked. "Can she even use that bow?"
"Yes, she can."Artemis answered with a glare.
"Who are you?!"Wally demanded.
"She's/I'm my/his niece."Green Arrow and Artemis said at the same time.
"Another niece?"Robin asked with his arms crossed.
"But she is not your replacement."Aqualad responded and looked at Red Arrow. "We have always wanted you on the Team. And we have no quota on archers."
"And if we did, you know who we'd pick."Wally added.
"Whatever, Bay watch."Artemis retorted. "I'm here to stay."
"You came to us for a reason, isn't?"I asked.
"Yeah."Red Arrow responded. "A reason named Dr. Serling Roquette."
My eyes widen a little as Robin activated his holo-computer and the doctor's accomplishments appeared around us as holograms.
"Nanorobotics genius and claytronics expert at Royal University in Star City."Robin remarked. "Vanished two weeks ago."
"Abducted two weeks ago."Red Arrow responded. "By the League of Shadows."
"Whoa!"Robin exclaimed. "You want us to rescue her from the League of Shadows?!"
"Hard core!"Wally agreed excitedly.
Robin and Wally did a strange handshake as I rolled my eyes.
"I already rescued her."Red Arrow declared. "There's only one problem."
Red Arrow activated a hologram as I walked closer to see it.
"The League of Shadows forced her into creating a weapon."Red Arrow explained. "The doc calls it The Fog. It's comprised of millions of microscopic robots. Nano-tech infiltrators. Capable of disintegrating anything in their path. Concrete, steel, flesh, bone. But its true purpose isn't mere destruction. It's theft. The infiltrators eat and store raw data from any computer system and deliver the stolen intel to the Shadows providing them access to weapons strategic defence, cutting-edge science and tech."
"Perfect for extortion, manipulation, power broking."Artemis interrupted. "Sounds like the Shadows."
"Like you know anything about the Shadows."Wally sneered and then notice Artemis' smirk. "Who are you?!"
"Roquette's working on a virus to render The Fog inert."Red Arrow complemented.
"But if the Shadows know she can do that..."Robin started.
"They'll target her."Red Arrow finished.
"Where is the doctor now?"I asked.
"She's off the grid."Red Arrow responded. "I stashed her at the high school's computer lab."
"You left her alone?"Green Arrow questioned.
"She's safe enough for now."Red Arrow assured.
"Then let's you and I keep her that way."Green Arrow insisted.
"You and I?"Red Arrow repeated. "Don't you wanna take your new protégé?"
Green Arrow walked forward and Batman placed his hand on his shoulder.
"You brought this to the team."Green Arrow said. "It's their mission which means it's hers now too."
"Pfft!"Red Arrow scoffed. "Then my job's done."
Red Arrow walked away from us and headed out.
"Recognised; Speedy..."the computer started.
That's Red Arrow, B06. Update."Red Arrow retorted, correcting the Zeta as he beams out.
Happy Harbour

We were all guarding Happy Harbor High School, but also making sure to cover all entrances and openings.
Superboy and Miss Martian were outside guarding the perimeters while Robin, Kid Flash, Aqualad, Artemis and I were inside guarding Dr Roquette.
"Miss Martian, link us up."Aqualad ordered. "We do not want the Shadows intercepting our comm."
"Everyone online?"Miss Martian asked.
"Oh, this is weird."Artemis said.
"And distracting."Dr Roquette added. "Coding a distributed algorithm virus on a kiddie computer with less RAM than a wristwatch is hard enough. Now I have to hear teen think in my skull?"
Kid Flash munched on a chocolate bar before he spoke to Dr Roquette.
"Lady, do you always complain when someone tries to help you?"Kid Flash questioned.
"Pot, kettle."Artemis insulted. "Have you met?"
"Hey, hey, I do not need attitude from the newbie who drove Red Arrow off the team."Kid Flash retorted.
"That is so not on me."Artemis argued.
"Fate of the world at stake."Dr Roquette reminded.
"She started it."Kid Flash scowled.
"How about I help Miss Martian and Superboy patrol the perimeter?"Artemis suggested.
"Good idea."I agreed.
Artemis walked out of the room as me and Robin looked at Kid Flash.
"You might cut her some slack."Robin replied. "It was her arrow that saved your butt against Amazo."
"What?"Kid Flash retorted in disbelief. "No, that was Speedy's...I mean, Red Arrow's arrow, right?"
"Not so much."I replied with a smirk.
"Huh."Kid Flash retorted and munched on his chocolate bar. "Well, still not giving her the satisfaction."
"You know, I can still hear you."Artemis declared.
"Argh!"Kid Flash growled in annoyance and covered his ears.
A smug smile crept on my face since I could tell there was tension between Kid Flash and Artemis.
"I couldn't get the Justice League."Dr Roquette responded.
"The virus won't be of much use if we cannot find the weapon."Aqualad stated. "Can you track it?"
"My Utility Fog is not a weapon."Dr Roquette replied. "It's science, brilliant science. And of course I can track it, but I'd have to go online. Might as well rent a billboard with this address...and 'assassinate me' written in neon."
Aqualad placed a comforting hand on Dr Roquette's shoulder.
"We will protect you."Aqualad assured with a smile.
"Tracking The Fog now."Dr Roquette declared and saw the location on the computer. "It's in Philadelphia."
My mini laptop started beeping a little and I saw someone tracking us.
"Now that she's tracked it, we're being tracked."I admitted with a frown.
"Mm! That boy..."Artemis said suddenly.
"He can hear you."Miss Martian reminded with a hint of jealousy."We can all hear you."
"Oh, I know."Artemis answered.
"Miss Martian, Dr. Roquette has located The Fog."Aqualad announced. "Reconfigure the Bio-Ship so that Robin, Blue Jay and Superboy can pursue."
Robin, Superboy and I ran out of the school as Miss Martian brought out the Bio-Ship for us.
"Ready."Miss Martian responded.
Me and the two boys headed inside the Bio-Ship immediately took off.
I decided to take the controls to fly the Bio-Ship to get us to the Fog's destination.
However when we arrived to Philadelphia, the three of us saw the League of Shadow's next target, S.T.A.R. Labs was completely destroyed.
"Robin to Aqualad."Robin said as he brought a hologram of S.T.A.R Labs on his wrist computer. "We're over Philadelphia. We've located the Shadow's next target: S.T.A.R. Labs, but..."
"We're too late."I finished. "It's completely destroyed."
"The Fog decimated it."Robin reported. "This is bad. S.T.A.R. Labs is cutting-edge science. Now their secrets are in the hands of the enemy. What's our next move?"
We got our new coordinates as I made the Bio-Ship move around Philadelphia.
"The next target's a Wayne Tech facility."Robin admitted.
I paled at the mention of the Shadow's next target.
"Wayne Tech?"I repeated.
"In theory, its system software could be used to hack the..."Robin started.
"The what?"Superboy asked.
"Doesn't matter."Robin answered simply. "What matters is Wayne Tech operates a 24-hour workforce. We'll never evacuate the building in time."
"Never say never."I declared with a frown. "Hang on!"
I made the Bio-Ship arrive above Wayne Tech and pressed a button to make the hatch open.
Superboy and Robin quickly unbuckled themselves from their seats and ran over to the hatch.
"It's downloading."Robin stated.
"Don't need it."Superboy responded and jumped out of the Bio-Ship.
"Superboy!"Robin called out.
I pressed a few buttons to make the Bio-Ship be on auto pilot before I jumped out and followed Robin inside the Wayne Tech facility.
"Hey, you can't come in here!"the security guard protested angrily. "Unauthorised entry!"
Robin and I notice the gates began to lower in front of us.
"Wayne Tech override, RG4!"Robin shouted.
The two of us slid down quickly as the gates lifted themselves up.
"Jay, get everyone out of here!"Robin ordered. "I'll deal with the infiltrators!"
"Aye aye, Robin."I saluted.
I ran down the hallways and up the stairs, just in time to see multiple people running and screaming.
"Everyone to the Emergency Exit!"I ordered and glanced at an emergency door. "Wayne Tech override, RG10!"
This caused the emergency door to open causing the panicking people to rush into the entrance and head out of the building.
I notice red mist fading out of the facility before I rushed to the cafeteria room where Robin was.
"Yes!"Robin chuckled. "The infiltrators have been out-filtrated!"
"Sweet!"I grinned. "Good job, Robin!"
Robin and I share a fist bump before heading out of the facility, where we saw Superboy knock out Professor Ojo.
We have stopped the Fog and saved Wayne Tech facility from crumbling into ruins...though it received a bit of damage from the dangerous virus.
Wayne Manor
August 9, 01:18 EDT
Batman drove me and Dick back to Wayne Manor after the mission and Professor Ojo being taken away by the Justice League.
Dr Roquette was safe and sound from the League of Shadows, which made this mission a complete success.
I covered my mouth to yawn and removed my mask with my free hand before noticing Robin sitting in the seat of the Bat Computer.
"Watcha doing, Dicky?"I asked as I walked up to him.
"Just doing a little midnight research, dearie."Dick answered with a small smirk.
"You do know the computer is on parental lock, right?"I questioned.
"Yeah, but you know I can override the code within seconds."Dick sneered.
"Go ahead."I encouraged with a hint of sarcasm. "Don't blame me if your caught by the Bat."
I headed out of the Bat Cave on my scooter to head back home as Dick continued typing in the Bat Computer.
I honestly had no idea what important information that Dick was looking up or what was to know.
It might be about Artemis since I don't recall Green Arrow mentioning having a niece before.
When Batman usually keeps secret information from me, it usually bothers me and the same goes with my mum, but I just have to get used to it.
Either way, I was really beginning to feel there was more about Artemis than meets the eye.
On the other hand, I'm actually glad that Wally has got another girl to hit on the Team besides me and Miss Martian for a change.
