Ash walked into the stadium, with an extra pep in his step. He was facing off against one of the strongest and newest trainers in Galar.
Gloria had risen up the ranks at a lightning pace, and many predicted her to become the next Leon. Ash of course, was here to change that perception. The tenth-ranked trainer in the world was no joke, her Cinderace had hospitalized many pokemon and even a few unlucky trainers.
But, truth be told it was no matter for Ash who had faced far worse.
The stadium screamed at Ash as he entered, Gloria had a reputation for being…. Colorful with her language, and her fans were similar in that nature.
They had already started chanting when Ash walked into the stadium
"WANKER! WANKER! WANKER! OUR LASS IS GONNA SHOVE A STICK UP YOUR ARSE! WANKER! WANKER!"
Ash sighed and tried to ignore the chaos,
Gloria stood before him, and she looked a lot less menacing than she was online.
She was on the shorter side, but nonetheless looked up at him and spat on the ground
"Oye Gommy! Yeah, you! Get your arse over here! I just wanted to say your arse is gonna get kicked today, so no hard feelings."
Ash smiled, "We'll see about that!"
"Oh! A cocky one have we here? No matter! Gloria will show ya how its done!"
Ash laughed and walked back towards his box
The rotom drone flew down and announced the rules
"Three on three battle! Subs allowed, trainers ready?"
Ash nodded as did Gloria
Both reached for their belts
And tossed at the same time
"Talonflame, I choose you!"
A fiery bird emerged, and flew in circles around the arena, causing some cheers to start.
"A pretty bird have we here? Well ol Gloria is gonna have to clip er wings! Let's go Corviknight!"
A metal bird appeared in front of Ash and screeched loudly
Chloe looked at the bird in fear, "That's a Corviknight! They're known for their aggression and strength
Goh nodded, "I've heard that they're hard to control, and are the strongest on average of all the regional birds,"
"Well if anyone can handle it, it's Ash," Chloe said optimistically

Talonflame looked at Corviknight and screeched. The birds took flight and Ash watched as Talonflame flew in circles with flame charge, gaining speed on the heavier
Corviknight launched air slashes at Talonflame and Talonflame rolled and dodged them, flying eloquently out of the way of the strikes.
"Oye! Awa' you and chew my banger!" Gloria screamed angrily as Talonflame dodged the air slashes from Corviknight
"Alright Talonflame, strike Corviknight with a flame charge!" Ash commanded
Talonflame rushed and slammed into Corviknight, and sent the great knight bird flying back.
"Oye! Let's try and mix er up yeah? Slam his fart box with a brave bird!" Gloria screamed
"Match with a brave bird of your own!" Ash yelled
Talonflame's brave bird was moving faster, but Corviknight's seemed to be stronger and larger.
The two attacks met, and both birds pushed at each other evenly. Neither giving an inch of ground. Talonflame yelled and flapped its wings, launching a razor wind attack. Corviknight screamed in response and fired off an air slash. This freed Corviknight from the push struggle with Talonflame and the larger bird gained the high ground. Until Talonflame slammed into Corviknight with incredible speed. Corviknight was thrown off balance, and Talonflame was struck with a steel wing when Corviknight tried to balance itself again. Talonflame seemed unfazed by the ¼ effective attack.
However, its attack had the unintended consequence of burning it. Corviknight yelped in pain and Ash cupped his hands like a megaphone and yelled out "Talonflame, just like we practiced! Brave bird and flame charge!"
Talonflame coated himself in fire and rushed towards Corviknight.
Corviknight tried to take off until its trainer yelled out, "Hold your ground you daft cunt! Iron defens-" Gloria's order was interrupted by Talonflame ramming into it at full force with an attack which seemed like an even faster flare blitz.
Corviknight yelped out in pain, fell to the ground, and struggled to get up.
Ash pointed at Corviknight, "Finish this now! Flame charge again!"
Talonflame rushed at Corviknight and crashed into the bird down on the ground.
Talonflame skidded across the ground, and quickly stood up and flew in circles around Corviknight who was out for the count.
"Corviknight is unable to battle! Contestant Gloria, please send out your next pokemon!"
"F^&K ME IN THE ARSE! Agh! Oye Ash! You're bollocks at battles!" Gloria screamed in an accent so thick Ash couldn't even understand what she was saying
"What are you even saying?"
"You're gonna lose you wanker. Here comes my ace! Let's do this Cinderace!"
An absolutely jacked Cinderace who looked like he was born and raised in the gym glared at Talonflame
"You all good Talonflame?" Ash asked
Talonflame did a loop-de-loop and cried out, issuing a challenge to Cinderace and telling Ash yes.
Ash smiled, "Alright then, lets do this! Use brave bird!"
Talonflame coated itself in orange and gold aura and sped towards Cinderace who stopped Talonflame's attack with just one hand. Cinderace was pushed back slightly, and seemed to be struggling when his trainer gave an order.
Gloria smiled, "Now, use gunk shot!"
Cinderace smiled and punched Talonflame in the gut opened its mouth and shot out a wave of purple and black energy. Talonflame screamed and collapsed from the blow.
Ash gritted his teeth and recalled Talonflame. He wasn't expecting his bird to go down that quickly!
Gloria smiled, "Cat got ye tongue wanker? My Cinderace can't be beaten!"
"We'll see about that, Pikachu, I choose you!"
"Brining in our big guns so soon? Fine by me, sooner this is done sooner I can take a piss, I have to quite badly. Or perhaps I could just go right now in ye handsome mouth!" Gloria started laughing and Ash looked quite uncomfortable.

Chloe just glared at Gloria with bloodshot glowing eyes, "She's dead! She's a dead woman! No one hits on Ash like that!" Chloe's gaze turned to Goh, "You will help me hide her body!"
Goh cowered in fear of a woman scorned, "Yes! Yes! I'll….I'll do that."

Back on the field, Pikachu stared down at Cinderace
"Sucker punch the rat, now!" Gloria screamed
"Pikachu, use electro web as a trampoline!" Ash ordered his oldest buddy
Cinderace's attack passed right through Pikachu

"Genius!" Goh yelled out
"Ash is abusing Sucker punch because the move only works if they're using an offensive move against the foe, and in this case, Cinderace isn't!" Goh said excitedly
"Yeah but that Cinderace better not connect!" Chloe said worriedly

"Pikachu, make a thin electroweb and do what we practiced!"
"Fire punch the rat now!" Gloria shouted as Cinderace sprinted towards Pikachu
Pikachu shot out a short and thin electro web and Cinderace tripped and fell
"Now, thunderbolt!" Ash yelled
Pikachu fired off a thunderbolt which shocked Cinderace and left Gloria's ace on the ground, shaking and standing up slowly. Ash smiled, realizing he paralyzed it. This would be a huge advantage for him later
Gloria sighed and recalled Cinderace, "Time to switch things up! Oye, it's time!"
Gloria threw a heavy ball and released a white Darmanitan. Ash motioned for Pikachu to come back to him.
"Alright then, let's match ice with water! Let's go Greninja!"
Ash's Kalos ace stood down against the Galarian Darmanitan.
"Well, let's get to it! Darmanitan, smash em with power-up punch!"
Darmanitan swung at Greninja and struck with a blow that sent Greninja flying back towards the wall.

Goh scanned Darmanitan's strike with his Pokedex,
Gorilla Tactics: Boosts the Pokémon's Attack stat but only allows the use of the first selected move.
"Woah, Ash better be careful, a few strikes from a power-up punch will mean his team gets swept clean through!" Goh said
Chloe nodded, "He'll have to avoid getting hit at all costs!"

"Hit em again Darmanitan!" Gloria yelled
"Greninja, water shuriken!" Ash commanded.
Greninja sent a large water star flying towards his foe, and Darmanitan smashed right through it,
Ash had an idea, "Alright Greninja, double team!"
Greninja started surrounding himself with hundreds of clones around him. Darmanitan swung at them, but too many Greninja's were showing up.
Ash shouted out "Now Greninja, get in close and use Aerial ace!"
Greninja's flew towards Darmanitan who was too overwhelmed, and he was pushed back by the force of the real Greninja.
Ash pointed at his foe and gave another order, "Now, water shuriken!"
"Rush in, and hit him with all you can!" Gloria yelled
Darmanitan sprinted across the grass field and jumped up, landing a clean and lucky strike against Greninja. Darmanitan landed a follow up blow with yet another power-up-punch.
Greninja was sent flying into the ground, and Darmanitan landed and pounded its chest.
Just then, a torrent of water shot up from the ground, and Ash-Greninja stepped out of the water.
Ash chuckled, "The real battle starts now,"
"Fancy pokemon or no, this stick is still going up ye arse!" Gloria yelled angrily
"We'll see about that!" Ash pointed at Darmanitan and turned his hat around

Goh laughed, "Oh boy, Ash is serious now! Backwards hat only means one thing!"
"He better end this fast, if Darmanitan gets a few more hits in, it'll become unstoppable!" Chloe said nervously

Greninja and Ash were connected now, and the battle was right back at it
Gloria started messing with her hair and put it up in a ponytail surprisingly fast, "Strike the frog Darmanitan! Fast as you can!"
"When a girl puts her hair up, it's business time." Ash remembered Dawn telling him once
He realized she was serious about this as he was, he'd have to end this, and quickly.
Ash screamed out, "Greninja, jump up and strike with a water shuriken, and then aerial ace!"
Greninja jumped up and fired off a massive water star, which exploded at Darmanitan's feet. The ice-type was thrown back by the blast and Greninja flew towards Darmanitan at an extrordinary speed.
Greninja formed two swords composed of water shurikens and struck Darmanitan who was on its belly.
Greninja sliced Darmanitan cleanly, and the result was clear. Darmanitan fainted from the impact of the blow
"Ah piss off! But be warned wanker, I still have one last trick up my sleeve!"
Gloria's dynamax band started to glow.
Ash's eyes looked down at his own Z ring.
Gloria tapped Cinderace's poke ball to her Z ring and released it, revealing a colossal sized Cinderace.
"Alright, lets end this fast! Cinderace, use G-Max Fireball!"
Ash started dancing and Gloria laughed, "Why the dance wanker? Afraid of death?"
"Greninja, the time is now!" Ash shouted and Ash-Greninja was surrounded by a aquamarine aura
The audience gasped and for the first time, Ash saw fear on Gloria's face
Ash pointed at the massive Cinderace who launched the fireball which slowly advanced towards Ash and Greninja "Now Greninja, use HYDRO VORTEX!"
Greninja fired off a full force kamehameha style attack, a hydro pump with the width of a building, and moving quickly.
Cinderace's attack hit the water and a large cloud of steam obstructed the view of the arena.
But Greninja's attack didn't stop. Cinderace was blasted by more of Greninja's Z move
"Cinderace, use Max Lightning!" Gloria yelled desperately
But Cinderace didn't move due to his paralysis
"Now Greninja, end this once and for all and strike again with water shuriken!" Ash commanded
Greninja spun up a massive water star, and it flew at a blistering pace towards a paralyzed Cinderace.
Cinderace was struck by the water shuriken, and collapsed from its gigantamax forme from the force of the blow, coupled with the power of the strike, and it was all over.
Cinderace collapsed, and the audience went silent
"Cinderace is unable to battle, therefore Ash is the winner!" the Rotom Drone spoke
The audience was dead silent and Gloria fell to her knees and started tearing up in front of everyone
Ash approached her carefully, remembering how May once told him to avoid crying girls.
Ash spoke softly, "Hey, good battle out there, it was a lot of fun,"
"You…..no….me…." Gloria said through teary eyes, "I've never lost a battle by more then one, and all my hard work is gone now. People will just see me as weak, I'm an awful trainer,"
Ash shook his head, "No way! Raihan loses to Leon on a weekly basis and he's one of the strongest in the world! Losses don't make you weak, sometimes they make you stronger. Just look at me! I've lost more battles then almost anyone! But I keep coming back and it always gets better. Now promise me this, next time we battle, it'll be in the masters eight."
Gloria punched his arm, "You better keep your end of the deal…. And thanks for the talk….. I needed that Ash- I mean wanker."
Ash rolled his eyes and shook Gloria's hand, "See you soon Gloria,"
Suddenly a loud cry rang out from the stands and Ash turned his attention to the big screen in the center of the arena.
Another battle was going on at the same time, Cynthia vs Alder, and Cynthia was demolishing Alder, with Garchomp landing a decisive stone edge on Alder's Volcarona.
Just then, Ash's face showed up on the screen, and his rank rose as Alder's dropped.
The new ranks were released, and Ash opened his mouth in awe.
He was ranked #7.
