Disclaimer: This chapter will be a tad more violent than I usually write.

Unova Region:

Ash was ecstatic! He had just gotten to the semifinals of the Unova League, and absolutely nothing could go wrong! He had aced out Cameron yesterday, and his strategy was very sound.

He was walking down a dimly lit path back to the hotel room from the restaurant. Iris and Cilan had left early to "go get some rest" so it was just him walking back, enjoying the full moon that night.

In front of him, a figure was walking slowly in his direction.

Ash kept walking without concern. He had a full team of six pokemon, so he doubted that any real trouble could come to him. Plus, crime wasn't really a concern at a pokemon league of all places. Sure, team rocket would try some tomfoolery, but robberies etc were very rare at this stage.

Eventually, the figure stopped in front of Ash and finally spoke.

"Lovely night outside, isn't it?" the figure said, the person seemed to be wearing a thick coat.

"Yeah, it's nice," Ash said

"So, why's a trainer like you out so late?" The voice sounded female.

"Oh, I'm just on my way back from dinner, no big deal," Ash said with a shrug.

"Well… mind coming with me for a second? I think there's something you'd want to see,"

Ash's gullible Unova self agreed, "Sure!"

After a moment, the figure led Ash to a clearing by a pond.

"What do ya think?"

"It's pretty!" Ash said

Ash heard a clicking sound, and a poke ball opened.

"Ummmm…." Ash said confused

"Nothing personal, kid. Charizard, use a shadow ball!"

Ash cursed and pressed the button on a random poke ball, releasing his Leavanny

"Leavanny, use an energy ball!"

Leavanny fired off a green ball that sped towards the shadow ball, exploding on impact

Ash gazed at the pokemon in front of him. It seemed to be a Charizard, but of a more ghostly design, like a black skeleton of its original form.

The sky around Charizard seemed to darken if that was even possible, blocking out the moonlight from the full moon that night.

"What is that?" Ash said confused "Who are you?" he said after he got no response

The figure took off their cloak, revealing a girl about his age with pink hair.

"Name's Remi. And I'm here to kill you." she said nonchalantly.

"Charizard, use dragon rush!"

"Leavanny, use x-scissor!" Ash commanded

But it was of no use, Charizard sped straight into Leavanny, and knocked Ash's bug type out.

Ash cursed to himself again and reached for his belt again, only Remi was one step ahead of him.

"Charizard, slam into him." Remi commanded

"Pikachu, electro ball!" Ash shouted, as his oldest partner chucked an electric ball straight into his foe.

Charizard looked taken aback for a second, before retaliating with a shadow ball.

Ash jumped out of the way, and Charizard landed, giving a loud roar.

Ash gulped to himself, this couldn't be good.

Remi shook her head, "Look Ash, there's no point in resisting! But because you insist on doing this the hard way, have it your way. Charizard, let's finish this! Dark Matter!"

"Dark, what now?" Ash said confused, as Charizard flew up into the night sky, his shadow covering the full moon, charging a blast.

Ash yelled out, "Pikachu, all out thunderbol-"

But it was too late. A massive black hyper beam fired from Charizard, and slammed into Pikachu directly, knocking Ash's oldest partner out.

Pikachu's body flew into Ash, knocking him back into the ground.

"Charizard, incapacitate him." Remi commanded

The mysterious skeleton Charizard jumped on top of Ash's legs. A loud snap could be heard, causing him to cry out in pain.

Remi walked up to Ash, and drew a large bowie knife out of her pocket before calling out a Gengar.

"Gengar, kindly put Ash to sleep one last time with Hypnosis."

Gengar's eyes flashed, and Ash grew drowsy.

The girl spoke one last time, "Cyrus sends his regards,"

As he slowly closed his eyes one last time, all he could think of was Pikachu and his safety.

Remi finished her job.

Kanto:

Ash had just declined Brendan when offered an opportunity to become a frontier brain. While prestigious, Ash couldn't help but decline his offer. He wanted to adventure more, see the world some, and advance as a trainer and as a person.

It was the day before Max and May were going to leave back to Hoenn, Brock would be heading back up to Pewter City, and Ash would find a new place to start an adventure after he went back to Pallet.

Ash sighed and decided to go on a walk around the forest to clear his head. He let Pikachu sleep, but decided to keep his belt with him just in case a wild pokemon tried to pick a fight.

He walked towards a pond, a nice clearing where some stars could be seen, where he could just think. Sometimes, nothing beats a good walk.

Ash heard some branches creaking in the distance but thought nothing really of it.

Ash gazed up at the sky, thinking of his future. He'd been on the road a while now, and with his biggest win ever, would his next adventure be his best one yet? And what happened once he won? Could he still be a frontier brain?

His thoughts were suddenly interrupted by the crunching of leaves.

Ash whipped his head around and heard the click of a poke ball behind the trees.

"Goodbye Ash," a whisper spoke from the trees, and a shadow ball flew past his head.

Ash cursed to himself, and clicked on his belt, releasing his Sceptile.

Sceptile looked confused, but a second shadow ball flew past him, and he got the memo pretty quickly.

A man and a Mewtwo walked out of the treeline, and Ash gulped. This was serious.

"Hello Ash," a calm voice spoke

"And who exactly are you?" Ash said angrily

"Let's just say we have mutual friends." the man spoke calmly

"Is that a Mewtwo? And why is it black?"

"I'm glad you asked. This is a Mewtwo clone that I've enhanced, he's also a dark type. Mewtwo, show him our power with Psystrike!"

Pink orbs flew up and exploded, which Sceptile barely dodged by rolling out of the way.

"Sceptile, strike with an x-scissor!"

Sceptile crossed his arms, and swung at Mewtwo who just teleported away

"Mewtwo, attack with an ice beam!" the trainer commanded

Mewtwo fired off an Ice Beam, which struck Sceptile, and sent Ash's loyal grass type flying back.

"Why are you attacking me?!" Ash cried out.

"Because I have to. Mewtwo, attack with a flamethrower now!"

"Sceptile jump and attack with another x-scissor!"

Sceptile was scorched by the heat, but persevered through the fire attack, flying straight through the beam of flames. He landed a decisive 4x effective strike on Mewtwo, and did a somersault behind his foe.

Mewtwo turned angrily, and Ash gulped. Sceptile looked worse for wear, and Mewtwo looked as fresh as ever.

The man sighed, "Before we wrap things up, I suppose it's only appropriate you know my name. It's Reukra."

Ash looked confused, "Doesn't ring a bell,"

Reukra reached for his belt and pulled out another poke ball.

"I'm sorry Ash, but this ends now. I made a promise. Kyurem, let's go!"

Ash reached for his belt and tossed out his loyal Charizard who gave a roar.

Charizard landed next to Sceptile, who gave a faint grin at his teammate.

The air chilled as Reukra's Kyurem landed.

Mewtwo and Kyurem stared at their foes and reached a silent agreement. This would end now.

"Mewtwo, Kyurem, both of you ice beam on Sceptile!" Reukra commanded

"Charizard, flamethrower and melt their ice!" Ash yelled desperately, sensing the power in front of him

Charizard's power was of no avail, and the joint ice beam pushed straight through Charizard's flames, and struck Sceptile straight in the head.

"SCEPTILE, NO!" Ash yelled out

Ash's Hoenn ace collapsed, and Ash sprinted towards him to check on him. Ash got down on his knees to check on his pokemon. Sceptile was breathing, thankfully. However, the breathing was inconsistent, and only faintly. Ash quickly recalled him.

He reached for his belt to call out his next, but Reukra punched him in the jaw before he could even stand up.

"Kyurem, take care of his Charizard, will you?" Reukra commanded

Kyurem started attacking Charizard, and Reukra turned his attention back to Ash.

"Mewtwo, knock him out with Aura Sphere."

Mewtwo stood over Ash, and grew an Aura Sphere in his hands. Reukra spoke to Ash one final time.

"Cyrus sends his regards."

Mewtwo fired the Aura Sphere, and Ash was knocked out.

Reukra drew a long blade from his coat, and prepared to do the dirty work.

Later…

Cyrus wasn't impatient. In fact, he was content waiting. He was a patient man.

Just then, a door creaked open.

Remi had a bag in her hands, and dropped it on the desk.

"Did you do it?"

"I couldn't find him in your timeline where you said he'd be, so I hopped into a dimension to find him and whacked one of his counterparts."

Cyrus slammed his hand on the table.

"That….. UGH…. no matter. Thank you, Remi,"

"No problem," the girl said nonchalantly

Just then, a very disgusted Reukra walked in holding another bag.

"I did it, Cyrus. However, I couldn't find him where you said, so I had to hop to an alternate dimension to find one of his counterparts. I hope that's acceptable."

"No matter. In fact, it'd be more satisfying to end him myself. But just know that before we remake the new universe, the chosen one must be eliminated" Cyrus spoke to Reukra

"What do you mean chosen one?" Reukra asked

"Yeah I don't like the sound of that, as far as I'm concerned, these prophecies always go south,"

Reukra held back a snort

"Well, essentially he's Arceus's champion in this reality. Him and one other boy known as Red both are marked by him. If we take them out, it's smooth sailing."

"So how will we solve this?"

"You guys hunt down the real Ash." Cyrus said

"How exactly will we know which one is the real one from our timeline?"

"Well you don't at face value. But if you whack the real one, you'll just know. Trust me,"

"Whatever you say," Remi said with a shrug

"And what of this Red? You said he's been marked as well." Reukra said

"Oh he's the easy one. He enjoys playing the hero too much from what I've heard. If I cause a situation and ambush him with Giratina, he should be toast in no time." Cyrus assured

"Well then, what's the plan after that?" Remi asked

Cyrus laughed, "Why we overthrow a god! Giratina and I make a powerful team, but with your help we can take down Arceus easily!"

Remi shrugged, "Some godslaying sounds fun,"

Cyrus nodded, "We'll make our move in a few days. I need some time to compose a more sound plan for Ash instead of killing off hundreds of his counterparts one by one."

"Well then, how about we all get some rest? I haven't slept in a few days, and I think we'd function better on some rest."

"Fine by me, but I want both of you to meet me here early in the morning. We'll start by finding a trap for Red." Cyrus announced

Remi gave a thumbs up and walked off

"See you in the morning," Reukra said

"Yeah…" Cyrus said coldly as he turned his attention to a screen in Reukra's lab

Meanwhile…. In the Timeless HQ.

Red was watching a screen full of Ash's counterparts. Only his adult counterpart knew about the whole chosen one thing.

Red was extremely grateful that he didn't have any counterparts. He was one of a kind, a dimensional abnormality. In every other universe, he didn't exist. Sometimes that seemed like more of a curse than a blessing, but today he was grateful.

A small blip flashed on the screen and a loud buzzing noise rang out, and then another one followed it closely after. Two of Ash's counterparts were dead. Mere moments apart.

One buzz was very rare, but not unheard of. Maybe once every 5 or so years.

Two… two deaths in the span of less than a minute?

Red's expression stiffened.

Someone was hunting Ash.
