It was early morning just outside Melomarc's capital when a large steel bird flew over it and landed, dropping an iron carriage off.
"Okay, so we'll be heading up here" Buck said
"The village of Lute was quite helpful for us" Raphtalia said as she exited the Pelican next to Mickey
"Well, it wouldn't hurt to see how the village is handling things"
"So what is the UNSC going to do in regards of the king?" Naofumi asked walking out in his ODST Armour
"The others are discussing that" Buck said
"Next question: what is this?" Naofumi asked
"This is a M15 LAV Razorback class, it functions as a multi troop transport" Buck said "You're up front with me, Raph can ride next to Mickey"
"Yes sir" they all shouted
"You okay Raphtalia?" Naofumi asked
"I am, but I want to get my crest reapplied" Raphtalia said.
"WHAT!" they all shouted
"Please...it's important to me" Raphtalia said looking down
"I have an idea" Naofumi said smirking
Raphtalia hissed as the potion to form the slave crest was put over a tattoo of the ODSTs on her left forearm
"Smart" Buck said looking around "This is some bullshit"
"Their world not ours" Dutch said
"So they're going to have some weird things" Romeo said
"Gatcha?" Naofumi asked
"Seriously?" Dutch asked
"What's Gatcha?" Raphtalia inquired
"It's a term for a lucky draw mechanic" Buck said as Naofumi paid the amount for an egg
"Who know you might get a rare beast" the slave trader said smiling as he got up in Raphtalia's face, only for Mickey to tap his shotgun
"Back off" Mickey said
"You got, so you are those soldiers from the other world" the man said
"Yeah, and just know you're on our list" Buck said "Let's roll"
"SIR!" they all said
"Just breathe sweetie, just breathe" Mickey said rubbing Raphtalia's back as she was hunched over with a sick bag in her hands
"We should get her some ginger to settle her stomach" Dutch said
"Good idea" Naofumi said as he navigated
"Are we close Master Naofumi?" Raphtalia asked
"Yeah we are" Naofumi said as he looked up "We'll be here for a couple fo days"
"You got it" Buck said as he continued to drive, while this was a simple recon mission to the village where the wave happened there was a second agenda
FLASHBACK
"You want me to see if these waves are created by the same spatial rift that brought the Infinity here?"
"Yes, also we need to see if the Forerunner tech is the cause of Naofumi's summoning here, or if it was this 'magic'" Halsey said
"Understood ma'am" Buck said as he saw a group of armour soldiers gathering together
"You're sending out Fireteam Osiris?" Buck asked
"Yes, we're going to see out the queen of this nation" Halsey said "Do you miss it, being in a team with them?"
"A bit, anything else I should try and get?"
"Manuals, maps, whatever gives us a better foothold in this world" Halsey said
"Yes ma'am" Buck said walking off
"You know, it would be more fun if you were with us" a voice said as a soldier in white and cyan MJOLNIR GEN2 Technician variant armour.
"I know, Tanaka" Buck said hugging the woman
"Well, you know we'll be there if you need back up" Tanaka said
"Yeah" Buck said as he headed over to Alpha Nina, Naofumi and Raphtalia.
PRESENT
"So what do you think it will hatch into?" Mickey asked
"Probably something cool like a dragon" Dutch laughed
"It could also be a Filolial" Raphtalia said
"You mean those birds that pull carts and act as mounts?" Romeo asked
"Yeah" Raphtalia nodded
"Reminds me of a Moa" Dutch said
"Oh great now I want a Moa burger" Naofumi said
"Oh yeah" they all cried out laughing
"What's a Moa burger?" Raphtalia asked
"besides Delicious?" Mickey asked
"Only the best tasting things in the UNSC!" Dutch cried out
"Four patties of Moa meat, four slices of cheese, lettuce, a chicken patty, bacon, Sedran red fruit and all on a toasted bun" Romeo explained
"With a constellation of sesame seeds" Naofumi said laughing. "Damn I miss Reach
"What happened to it?" Raphtalia asked before nearly throwing up as the passed over a bump
"It was turned to glass" Buck said sadly making the rest of the group go silent for a second, thinking of the utter failure that was Reach
"Trust me you don't want to know" Naofumi said as he looked upset
Soon they reached the village which was still being repaired.
"Okay looks like we'll be stationed here until very thing has been repaired" Buck said as the group jumped out of the Razorback
"It's so eerie to see it like this again after the wave" Raphtalia said
"Yeah" Naofumi said. An hour later the ODSTs were fixing fences, moving and burning corpses, herding livestock
"Thank you so much for this Shield Hero" the mayor said
"It's only right" Naofumi said
"I didn't realise you had friends" the mayor said
"they're new" Naofumi said as he looked around to see Romeo flirting with some of the villagers
"ROMEO GET BACK TO WORK!" Buck said throwing a hay bale at him.
"Yeah" Naofumi said as he noticed the corpse of the boss monster.
"That is just begging to be burnt" Dutch said kicking he corpse
"I Know, man it started to decompose" Mickey said looking disgusted.
"I've got what I needed from it" Naofumi said dropping the last of the meat he butchered from it into his shield, unlocking a new one
"Did they scan that?" Buck asked, tapping his shield.
"No, I'll let them do that once we're back on the Infinity" Naofumi said as he saw that he just unlcoked the Chimera Viper shield
"How many of those have you unlocked juts by dumping random shit in there?" Romeo asked
"A fair few" Naofumi said.
"We got some covie weapons what if we drop some in your shield?" Mickey asked
"I'm not sure that's wise" Naofumi said
"How come?" Buck asked
"Our weapons are able to be used by me, but not the weapons of this world" Naofumi said
"Meaning we have no idea how they'll work with your shield." Buck said
"Yeah" Naofumi said as he yawned
"Get some sleep, we'll take watch" Mickey said
"You sure?" Naofumi asked
"that's an order" Buck said
"Yes sir" Naofumi said as he went into the hut Raphtalia was already using as a place to stay and collapsed on the other bed. Smiling at the sight of how cute Raphtalia was, he fell asleep.
"WHERE IS THAT ARTILLERY FIRE?!" Naofumi shouted as he had landed in a barren swamp as he fired his SMG while he saw several Grunts heading for him, he quickly head-shotted the lot of them before he withdrew a knife and jammed it into the mask of a Grunt that was running past him
"It was suppose to be here five minutes ago" a member of his unit shouted as he grabbed a shotgun and fired into several Jackals when the gun was wrenched out of his hands, so he drew his SOCOM Sidearm and fired at what was attacking him, a red armoured Elite! Naofumi backed up as two other ODSTs fired on it with assault rifles, he managed to turn and rush at the enemy, but he was knocked away by it. Scrambling to his feet, he felt something brush by his leg, looking down he saw a needle just missed his leg, turning aroudn he opened fire on the Grunt holding the Needler before on came flying at him and impacted on his chest.
Naofumi woke up gasping as he felt his chest, noticing that there was no needle in it relaxed
"Master Naofumi!" Raphtalia said getting his attention.
"What is it?" Naofumi asked getting up
"the egg" she said as she and Noafumi watched it hatch revealing a white Filolial,
"Its a Filolial" Raphtalia said "So what are you going to call her?"
"I think I'll name her Filo?" Naofumi smiled.
"Real original Master Noafumi" Raphtalia pouted as Filo nested in her master's hair
"Oh well, let's get going" he smiled
"Thank you" Buck said as he put a couple of books into his satchel
"Got the intel?" Dutch asked taking a bite of a piece of fruit
"I do" Buck said
"So that's all Halsey wanted for now?" Dutch asked
"Yeah" Buck said "Where's Naofumi?"
"Right here sir" Naofumi said walking over to them with Filo still in his hair
"So it hatched?" Dutch asked
"Yeah" Naofumi said
"That's one of those bird things huh?' Dutch asked
"Yeah" Naofumi said
"He named her Filo" Raphtalia said
"Seriously?" the two ODST deadpanned
"Hey give me a break!" Naofumi said
"Well, she is still very cute" Buck said scratching her head.
"Okay she hatched like two days ago, how is she this size already?" Mickey asked
"Must be because of me" Naofumi said as he fed Filo. "One of my abilities, I think the Beast Tamer one must have been the one to do this"
"Anyway, the UNSC needs us to check something out in the nearby mines" Buck said
"You thinking Forerunner tech?" Naofumi asked
"I hope not" Buck said frowning,
"Raphtalia, we're going to the mines, stay here with Filo" Naofumi ordered
"Okay" Raphtalia said as the group left the village
"What do you think we'll find in there?' Mickey asked as Alpha 9 descended into the mine
"Okay; so what is going to be down here?" Dutch asked
"I don't know, I'm not getting any readings" Buck said
"Nor am I" Naofumi said as he had his Battle Rifle up, most of them had weapons up
"I'm not liking this" Romeo said
"I've got something" Naofumi said picking up something that flashed green, he passed it over to Buck who went wide eyed
"Is that?" Dutch asked
"A Spartan Beacon?" Romeo asked
"But which Spartan does it belong to?" Naofumi asked
"It looks like SPARTAN-II OR SPARTAN III level tech" Mickey said
"but which one" Buck mumbled
"Hey Guys, it says 087 on the back" Mickey pointed out
"That's Kelly" Romeo said
"Wait, you mean Petty Officer First Class Kelly 087?" Naofumi asked
"Yeah" Buck said
"So she's nearby?" Mickey asked
"Good, when we transported here Blue Team went missing, much like you did" Dutch stated
"So they could be anywhere" Romeo said
"Anyway let's head back" Buck said
"YES SIR!" the shouted.
An hour after the team got back there was a commotion at the gates
"Now what?" Naofumi said
"Something's happening at the gates" Raphtalia said
"ATTENTION PEOPLE OF LUTE VILLAGE!" a voice cried out
"Bitch" Naofumi seethed as the ODSTs hid while pointing their guns at the knights, Motoyasu and Myne.
"What is she doing here?" Mickey asked
"I have no clue, Romeo keep them in your crosshairs" Buck ordered
"Yes sir" Romeo said as he was mounted on a roof with his sniper rifle at them. Naofumi walked into the crowd to see Myne holding up a scroll.
"In accordance with his majesty, the Spear hero Sir Motoyasu as a reward for his valiant actions during the wave; King Aultcray has hereby declared him Lord of this region" she called out
"Shit" Naofumi said as the other ODSTs prepared for a battle
'Steady guys' Buck thought
'Oh great what is moronyasu doing here, and he's been named lord of this region, that can't be good' Naofumi thought
"To help rebuilding efforts, we have decided on levying a toll, this toll will be 50 silvers for entry and exit into the village" Myne called out making the villager grumble
"Shall I take her sir?" Romeo asked
"Hold on" Buck said
"We can't pay that" the mayor said "We won't be able to buy any food"
"Do you dare do defy your lord's orders?" Myne glared
"Sure thing" Naofumi said as he walked out holding his M7S Caseless SMG, upon seeing Naofumi Motoyasu backed up a bit, knowing that thing in his hands was a weapon
"Shield hero! What are you still doing here, this is Lord Motoyasu's domain now, you have no right to it you worthless criminal" Myne said making Naofumi scowl.
"Oh please, not even a drunkard would laid claim to that ass" Romeo said
"Him or her?" Mickey asked
"I would leave, but I don't think the villagers would be too happy, HEY Motoyasu! This village here offers rooms at the inn for a silver, you're charging 100 nights just to enter and exit the village" he said making the crowd agree with him
"You can't just show up here announcing yourself as our lord" one of them said
"It was the Shield hero who defended us, not you!" another shouted
"You dare complain about a royal decree?" Myne said as he motioned to the soldiers, making Alpha 9 spur into action and aim at the knights,
"If any of them move, give them a new hole to breath out of" Buck ordered
"MOTOYASU STAND DOWN! " Naofumi shouted as he aimed at the Spear Hero. Myne was about to drop her hand when a cloaked figure dropped down
"Princess" she said holding out a blue scroll 'We bring word from the queen" the spy said
"The queen?" Naofumi asked
"Yes, The queen is Melomarc's true ruling power" Raphtalia said as Myne read the scroll
"SHIELD HERO!" she barked
"Great now what?" Naofumi asked
"Fight us for the right to rule this village!" Myne snapped
"What?" Naofumi asked, blinking in confusion
"Forget it" Naofumi said
"Please shield hero, if you don't then our village will be in ruins, we can't afford anymore taxation"
"But why a dragon race?" Naofumi asked
"But they've asked for you specifically, we don't have the right to go against a cardinal hero" the villager said
"It must have been the scroll the queen sent" Naofumi said
"She doesn't look like she's going to back down" Raphtalia said
"Fine" Naofumi said
"Thank you, you'll be given a huge reward from us" the elder said
"Great" Naofumi said
"At least your getting paid" Buck said
"Shouldn't this be going against orders?" Naofumi asked
"Hood cleared it" Buck said
"Great" Naofumi groaned
At the starting line Naofumi was petting Filo
That is like so lame, you're going to ride that bird thing, not a dragon?" Motoyasu said
"Well I could use the Razorback" Naofumi said pointing the transport the others were leaning against as Filo backed up a bit
"Well whatever, but still that bird looks like it's going to lose to my OOOPH!" Motoyasu said before Filo ran at him full pelt and hammer kicked his balls, sending him flying
"SIR MOTOYASU!" Myne cried
"Ouch" the other ODSTs crossed their legs in phantom pain
"Good girl Filo" Naofumi said laughing alongside the Filolial
Once Motoyasu was healed up the race began,. The two creatures raced off the started line neck and neck, Myne frowned before ordering her guards to do something, soon Motoyasu pulled ahead with his dragon kicking up dirt into Filo's face, snarling the bird charged forward past the spear hero and did the same to him. Up ahead a couple of the knights were in the middle of the road.
"As the source of my power, I order thee decipher the laws of nature and open up a pit in front of me" one of them said before both of them hid in the bushes smiling" Earth hole" he said as a pit form in front of Filo and Naofumi making them tumble giving Motoyasu the lead, Myne smirked
"Oh Sir Motoyasu" she chirped smiling as a blur of white, pink, black and green streaked past her. Frowning Myne then smirked knowing her guards were about to make it impossible for him to win. Buck noticed this and was about to step in when a new yellow dot popped up on his HUD
"oh" he said.
The knights were holding out their hands ready to cast the spell again, when a finger tapped their shoulders, looking behind them, they saw a metal fist knock them out
"keep it up corporal" she said "Now what is it?, she pondered before she saw Motoyasu's dragon whip Filo in the face. "Low blow." she muttered
"Take that" Motoyasu said
"Yeah not happening" she said as she saw more guard, running up to each one and knocking them out.
"By the source of my power I order thee" the knight started
"Shut it" the woman said knocking the guard out
"SHIELD BOOST! Naofumi shouted making the pair go faster, over taking Motoyasu again.,
"What are you doing run faster damn it" Motoyasu said
"FILO ONLY ONE LAP LEFT" Raphtalia shouted
"FOUL BEAST" Myne said "Where are those guards?" she asked
"There we are, that should do it" the woman said as she grabbed an assault rifle and decided to watch the race as a woman in a cloak came up to her
"I see you are with the Shield Hero?" the shadow said
"I am, he's one of our own" she said
"I see thank you for helping, and it looks like he just won" the shadow said
"Is that a problem?" the woman in armour asked
"No, it is merely making things more interesting" the shadow said blending into the darkness
"Okay then" the woman said walking over
"Looks like we won" Naofumi said getting off Filo and rubbing her neck
"Oh thank you shield hero" the village mayor said
"It was no problem for me and Filo here" Naofumi said before noticing he wasn't petting her neck, but the tips of her wings, looking up he noticed she was larger
"She must have levelled up"
"YOU CHEATED" Myne said "You never said that bird was this tub of lard" she said making Filo leer at her
"If anyone cheated it was you" Naofumi said
"I have no idea" Myne said
"Indeed the spear hero's party cheated" the shadow said interrupting her "We detected the use of Earth magic, a style that doesn't fit with the support or healing magic of the Shield Hero and the Dark and light styles of the girl"
"Whatever we will be back" Myne huffed
"I let you win, next time I will take you down with or without your friends" Motoyasu said
"Whatever how are your balls?" he snickered as Motoyasu limped off
"Feel better" Raphtalia said
"Not bad Corporal" the armoured woman said removing the helmet of her Hermes GEN2 Spartan armour revealing her dark red hair in a ponytail and deep verdant eyes.
"Kelly?" Buck asked
"Hey Gunny, good to see you" Kelly said
"Same here ma'am" Buck nodded
"SO mind telling me what the situation is" Kelly ordered
G'day Guys Grizz here So this just showed a bit more of how the two worlds will interact, with a bit of backstory for Naofumi as an ODST, plus Filo shows up, gotta love the big pile of fluff and hunger. Now we have Kelly showing up who is actually interacting unlike the other spartan and yes I could have had a Mongoose who Razorback be Naofumi's mount but I wanted to keep close to the race as possible
Now the next thing I want to address, is that you guys do not need to leave reviews asking me to continue it unless a month long gap has passed between chapter okay, it usually takes me a couple of days to write a chapter, so there is no need to worry and panic
