Clary and Jace talk. Alec and Magnus reveal what they knew.

Art Room, Castle, Edom.

Clary led Jace into the art room, and shut the door behind them. She watched as he admired all the artwork in the room.

J-"Are all these yours?"

Clary nodded her head as she spoke.

C-"I've needed to express my emotions, so I do it through training and painting and our daughter is taking after the both of us too much."

J-"Oh?"

C-"She's been learning to draw and fight but she's also been learning the piano."

Clary watched as Jace gave a small smile before it disappeared. Clary mirrored his expression as he looked at her.

C-"Are you okay?"

J-"No. I'm worried about you."

C-"Me? Why?"

J-"You're different Clary, you are more on guard, you're withholding information and you are constantly alert."

Clary slumped her shoulders and looked at Jace.

J-"Are you okay Clary?"

That was all it took, Clary burst into tears and collapsed to the floor, Jace was quick to run over to her and gather her in his arms. He held her tightly and let her cry, she clearly released all the emotions she had been feeling these past few years. After a while Clary's sobs subsided and her breathing evened out allowing Jace to start speaking.

J-"What's really going on Clary?"

Clary took a deep breath before speaking,

C-"Johnathan, he needs someone to take his anger out on and that person tends to be me. At first it wasn't too bad, but over time it's gotten worse. And I can cope with it because I'm afraid that if I refuse he'll turn his attention to Celine. Also me and Lilith have a plan and in order for the plan to succeed, certain information needs to be kept a secret."

J-"Like, Celine's power."

C-"Exactly. Jace; if Johnathan finds out how powerful Celine really is, I don't even want to think what he would do."

Jace nodded slightly before looking at Clary directly, he could tell that their was something else bothering her.

J-"What else, is going on inside that beautiful little head of yours?"

Clary looked at Jace as tears filled her eyes.

C-"I'm sorry."

Jace looked at her confused, before moving a strand of her hair away from her face.

J-"What for?"

C-"For, not telling you about my punishment, for walking away from you, for keeping Celine a secret, for walking away from you again yesterday. For it all."

Clary looked away from Jace, unable to keep looking at his face.

J-"Clary, look at me."

Clary takes a shaky breath before turning her face towards him but she kept her eyes closed. Jace placed his hand on her cheek, allowing her to lean into it. His voice soft and gentle.

J-"Look at me baby."

After a moment Clary opened her eyes, tears begin to fall down her cheeks again.

J-"I'm not mad at you and you have nothing to be sorry for. You done what you thought was best for the people you love and that is the one of the things I've always loved about you. You put others before yourself. So you have nothing to be sorry for."

Clary looked at Jace, both of their eyes filled with love. Unable to respond Clary leant up and pressed her lips to Jace's in a kiss that said everything she couldn't.

A while later, Clary and Lilith were waving the group off as they had to go back to Earth, Clary and Jace had said their goodbyes earlier, so it allowed Clary to say goodbye to everyone else. Once the portal closed behind the group Lilith turned to Clary.

L-"It won't be much longer, then this whole nightmare will be over."

C-"I hope so, I can't take much more Lilith."

Lilith gave the young woman a small smile before hugging her and leading out of the room.

Isabelle's Office, The Institute, New York

Once the group landed back in Isabelle's office they all sat down looking confused.

S-"Well that was certainly unexpected."

I-"No kidding, Clary seemed…"

J-"Cautious, scared, tired, fearful?"

I-"Yeah."

J-"That's because she is. When we went to the art room and I asked her how she was, she broke down. Johnathan is a ticking time bomb and the only reason Clary is letting herself receive the brunt of his violence is so that he won't take it out on Celine."

S-"He doesn't know her power does he?"

Jace shook his head at Simon, while Isabelle eyed her brother and brother-in-law with suspicion.

I-"Alec, Magnus what's going on with you two? You've been very quiet about the whole thing. And I saw the look you two gave each other when Jace said that Clary recognised him. What are you two hiding?"

Alec and Magnus look at each other before Alec sighs and speaks.

A-"We knew where Clary was the past year."

S/I/J-"What?'

M-"She came to speak to us at our reception, she told us about the plan to go and live in Edom and her punishment but she didn't tell us that she was pregnant."

A-"She told us that we couldn't tell anybody and then told us that we had to stop Jace from going down a rabbit hole."

J-"Why didn't you tell us?"

M-"Clary made us promise and she also told us something else that nobody can ever know."

S-"What was it?"

Alec and Magnus looked at each other and Magnus shook his head to indicate that they really shouldn't say anything.

A-"We can't tell you. It's not our information to share and the less people who know about it the better, because if word gets out, Clary and Celine will be running for the rest of their lives."
