Chapter 2 - New World

After a long argument and a little strong arming on Dumbledore's part, Harry was in Middle Earth. Thankfully Dumbledore, now Gandalf, was with her and had not abandoned her. Well at first, he hadn't. It was probably a month after being in the new place that Gandalf left Harry to her own devices. Mostly. He left her in a place near a large forest with a skin changer named Beorn. Gandalf was gone to help some dwarves begin a quest for a mountain. Needless to say, being at Beorn's was wonderful for Harry. But she longed for the forest. She had this magical pull to go to the forest. Beorn believed it had something to do with the markings on her body. She had one on her left upper arm in a language that Beorn said was Khuzdal and she had another in Sindarin on her left ribs. Beorn was a plethora of information. She enjoyed his company immensely and the simple life that he led. She even enjoyed the work with the bees and the animals. But as time passed the ache to move to the woods became very great.

She spoke to Beorn about it and even though he was against her going to Mirkwood he saddled her a horse, packed her some food and water and let her go. He told her that the horse would stop when it was time for her to go on her own feet. The trek across Beorn's lands took a couple days before she reached Mirkwood. The horse stopped short of the entrance. It whinnied and stamped the ground. Harry took that as time for herself to walk. She fed the horse an apple from her bag as a thank you for carrying her all that way. It accepted the apple and gave Harry an affectionate nudge and took off back to Beorn's.

"Do not stray from the path. You will get lost forever in the woods." That was Beorn's warning. Stay on the path. Stay on the PATH! With a determined step Harry entered Mirkwood.

(SEVERAL HOURS LATER)

Harry followed the magical pull and had come to a really large river. There was a boat, but it was at the other side. Good thing he... she was a witch. It had been a couple months and Harry was still getting used to being a girl. Periods had scared her. But it was getting better. With a sigh she whipped out her wand and "Accio boat". The small rowboat made its way calmly through the water to the pier she was standing on. Carefully steadying it she climbed in a paddled forward. It only took a few minutes to get to the other side.

The further in she ventured the more she noticed the air began to get weird. It was making her brain foggy. She needed air. Fresh air. Carefully she made her way up to the treetops. Breaking the surface to see the sky and draw in air, her mind cleared immediately. She decided then to do a feather light charm. She could walk the treetops this way and keep her mind clear. As quick as she could move, she crossed the treetops. She moved deftly and suddenly caught her foot in some spider threads. Large spider threads. The last time she had seen spider threads that large had been during year two at Hogwarts with the acromantula. She really hoped these were not worse than the acromantula.

Harry peered down carefully to look between the branches to see if she could see a spider. And she could. There were dozens of those spiders. They looked like Aragog's children. They were fast too. Thanking her lucky stars that she had placed a feather light charm on herself, she made her way quickly away from the spiders. No sooner was she away from the spiders did she see movement. Quietly she peeked down and saw these absolutely gorgeous men and women. They were tall and slim. Most of them were blonde but there was a few sprinkled in with darker locks. But they all had the same pointed ears.

Each one of them had some sort of weapon on them. They must be guards or soldiers. They were all headed in the direction of the spiders. Harry thought about warning them but from the language she heard from them she doubted they would even understand her. She had a feeling that they would take her prisoner or kill her before she could even help. In that moment a single misstep from Harry is all it took for herself to be caught. She was not caught at first because she mis-stepped on the canopy and came crashing down. Hard. It happened so fast Harry did not even have time to scream. But the agony coming from her arm and ribs was enough to cause a shriek to escape her lips as well as a string of curses.

The suddenly jostling of being suddenly picked up caused another shriek to escape her. She was captured. Each side of her had a man holding her up as another man came to stand before her. Then the people spoke English or Westron she had been told it was. They called the one before her Prince Legolas.

"Please let go of my arm." she almost sobbed out.

The prince made a motion with his head to release her. A female with beautiful red hair came over to her and began examining her. She spoke in that language she had heard them speak before. Legolas then in turn spoke to her.

"Your arm is broken, my lady." he said.

"I figured as much. That was a long way down." Harry said with a grimace, holding her arms to her chest, it hurt worse than her ribs.

"She will need medicinal treatment." the red head said.

"No. If you can hand me my bag, I will be alright." Harry said.

She pulled her wand from its holster on her right arm and pointed at her left. She grimaced and breathed deep before she said the proper incantation "Brackium Emendo". The sounds of bones snapping into place rung out clear in the air. Tears poured down her face as a pained screamed escaped her as the last bone mended itself painfully.

"That really hurt." she hissed but moved her arm which was still tender to movement.

"What did you do?" the female asked her.

"I mended my arm. I am a witch. I was travelling with Gandalf, but he disappeared on me to pursue some mission of the sort." Harry answered best she could.

"Are you alright." Prince Legolas asked her.

"No. I think I may... have... punctured a lung." she said and passed out just as blood came out of her mouth.

AN: I think it may be moving a bit fast but I wanted to get this out of my head.
