Savage Dottir

"Rise, Heather of Midgard." Loki said. "Peace, Kara Heatherdottir. Your mother has defended you well! As has your blue haired friend. Peace, you are safe child." He put His hand on her head and looked in the young girl's eyes. They seemed to have a silent conversation. He raised an eyebrow and smiled at her. "I would agree, little one." He looked to Heather and told her He would see her at the next fire and then was gone.

Some days later Heather was talking with her friend, Susan on their lunch break and shared the events of that evening. Susan stopped what she was doing, put her coffee cup down and stared at her.

"Are you serious right now?" Heather just nodded her head. "I don't know what to say except can I come to your next fire? And what did He look like?"

"Well… He is tall, thin frame but muscular, ginger haired, slightly pointed ears but not elf like, intense blue green eyes…" Heather seemed to be off in her own world for a moment as she thought back to what Loki looked like when she saw Him. Susan sat there and listened to her friend and was picturing Him in her head.

The following full moon Heather was a flurry of activity as it was time for another fire. She had decided to do a full meal. Her husband had been told to get the smoker out and light it for her. She made her famous ribs, smoked a brisket and made burgers and hot dogs for the kids in addition to fruits, grilled veggies, cookies and cupcakes. And of course, there was wine and she had gotten some mead as well.

Heather was checking on the food when she realized she had not heard anything from Kara in a while. She looked up and down the street and checked the whole cul de sac. Then she began to yell, trying not to panic. There was a faint response from the back yard. Heather followed the sound of her youngest daughter and could not believe her eyes. What she beheld brought her to tears as she watched. Her youngest was there in the back yard with her new compound bow and her target that she had gotten for Yule from her other mom. She was practicing. Kneeling next to her, helping her with her stance was none other than the God of Mischief Himself. He was patient and let her make her stubborn mistakes. He leaned back and watched her take her shot. It hit center mass. The string, however, had hurt her forearm. Loki wiped her tears away, put his hand on her arm and healed her injury and then showed her how to hold and draw without getting her arm hurt. She took another shot. It was closer to the bullseye. She beamed at the God next to her and he told her "Well done, little one!"

Heather cleared her throat and they both looked in her direction. "I did not realize You were already here", she said. "I am aware. You were busy preparing the food, so I decided to have a look around and saw the young one trying to set up her target. I decided to give her a hand. I hope you do not mind." "Yes, because I'm going to tell a God no…. Besides, Kara has obviously claimed You. And I appreciate You helping her. Would You be interested in teaching her to use a sword as well?" Heather asked with a grin and a raised eyebrow.

"Does she possess one?"

"Wooden or metal?" Heather replied,

Loki's eyebrows went up. "Your little one has a metal sword?"

"Two, actually. One is just bigger than she is. But she can lift it!" Heather laughed.

"I'm afraid I'm going to need to see that." He laughed. Heather told Kara to go get her broad sword. She came back a few minutes later with her katana and her broadsword and proudly showed them both to the Asgardian. "Mommy is going to get me a shield and battle ax too! I can't wait!" she said. At this, He looked at her and smiled.

"You shall be a fierce shieldmaiden when we are done, little one." At His words Kara asked "Like the lady at the festival? YAY!" He looked at Heather waiting for clarification.

"There was a battle at the last festival we went to and the last one standing was a woman who used a sword and an ax. She has been obsessed ever since."

He smiled and nodded.

Later that evening, as the sun began to set Ben, the blue haired one, had arrived and Heather lit her fire pit and they all sat around it eating, drinking and sharing stories. Loki complimented Heather on the food and thanked her for allowing Him to join them. They spent hours around that fire.
