Last time: Viran and Oppie left on their mission. And Kyr and Sasha left on one of their own a couple days later.

Now: Sasha learns more about what happened during those six years.

Chapter 6- Kyr's Feelings

Over the next day of travel, Sasha and Kyr primarily lounge around the ship, shared a small meal, and played a few games. It wasn't the most exciting trip thus far, but it was great to finally be out of the house after a month. And thankfully, Sasha's stomach didn't try and kill her the rest of the day. So whatever caused her to vomit yesterday wasn't an issue again. That is until the next morning. Sasha was getting ready for the day in the compartment of the ship where their bunks resided when suddenly, just like the day before, a wave of nausea washed over her. Hustling to the small refresher on the ship, Sasha managed to make it in time to lock the door before she lunged for the toilet and threw up everything from her stomach.

"Damn it," she cursed under breath as tears kept falling once she was done.

Now she was really concerned as to what was the cause of this and if it was contagious. She sat there on the floor of the refresher, considering if she should tell Kyr or not for a while. The more she thought about it, though, the more realized that she really did need this mission and that she didn't want to go home just yet. So just like before she cleaned up the refresher then herself before exiting back out into the ship. She did, however, promise herself that if this was to happen again, she would tell Kyr.

She finished getting ready and then headed for the cockpit of the ship where she knew Kyr was currently at, avoiding any and all food for a while. When she got there, she found Kyr sitting in the pilot's chair, his helmet was on.

"Hey Sash'ika," he greeted her.

"Morning," Sasha said as she took the seat next to him in the co-pilot's chair.

"Did you have breakfast yet?" He asked.

"Uh, no I haven't," Sasha admitted. She then put on a fake smile. "I'm not feeling overly hungry at the moment, but I'll grab something later."

He looked over at her and gave her a glance, then turned back to look out the cockpit window.

"How much longer do we have until we arrive?" She asked as she leaned back in the chair.

"Tomorrow afternoon." Kyr said, "I'm hoping we can wrap this one up pretty quick."

"Alright," she said with a nod. "So can you tell me more about this mission? You had said something about a guy pretending to be a Force user, but that was really it. I'd like to know more about who or what we will be dealing with."

"Some guy called Hill." He said, "I didn't learn a lot. One of my friends called me, he heard what we were doing, that you guys were out doing Force things, and he thought we might be able to help. He's apparently pretending to be a Force user, since the Empire isn't killing them on sight anymore, and charging people tons of credits for miracle cures. He does these little shows, pulls people out of the audience, waves his hand in front of them and they can suddenly walk, or aren't blind anymore. That kind of thing. We're going to his next show to check it out. I figured an actual Jedi, especially one that has successfully brought people back from the dead, might know if his miracle cures are for real or not. I'm betting not."

"Well sounds like we are dealing with quite a con artist," Sasha mused. "This is going to be really fun to deal with this clown."

"I was hoping you'd say that." Kyr said with a smirk.

Kyr put the rifle back on the rack in the armory, having shot off a few dozen rounds in the virtual shooting range as a way to warm up this morning. They should be arriving in a couple of hours, and he presumed this would be the kind of job where he didn't get to shoot anything. At best he might get to look at someone in an intimidating manner, which wasn't nearly as much fun, since most people figured that's how Mandos looked at them anyway behind their visor.

As he walked past the crew quarters he slowed his pace, and from inside the bunk room, in the refresher within, he thought he heard Sasha vomiting. He grimaced, and walked on, worried about her. She had not been feeling well the last couple of weeks, and she seemed tired and more on edge. He was glad it hadn't just been his chili, though, since she should have recovered from that within a day or two. He made his way back to the cockpit and sat in the pilot's seat, looking annoyedly at the chrono.

After a few moments, Sasha joined him in the cockpit looking like she normally did. He glanced over at her sideways with a small turn of his head, and then turned back looking out the viewport.

"Morning." He said.

"Morning," Sasha said, flashing him a smile before taking her seat in the co-pilot's chair.

"Sleep well?" He asked.

She nodded. "Yeah, I slept pretty good. How about you?"

"Oh, good." He said. "Get any breakfast yet?" He asked innocently.

"Not yet," she said. "I just came to check on our status and such before grabbing a bite."

"Oh, we're still on schedule, should arrive this afternoon." He informed her. "So how're you doing?" He asked. "You know, with Viran off, first time you guys have been apart in a while." He quickly added.

She seemed a little taken off guard by the first question and seemed to relax slightly at the next. "I'm doing okay. I mean, yeah I miss him, but we are still Jedi and we still need to help the galaxy. Besides, I don't need to be around him every moment of my life now that we are married. There is such a thing as me time after all," she answered.

"Yeah, I definitely understand the me time thing." He said. "I just wanted to make sure you were feeling alright, you know, with everything."

She smiled at him. "Well thanks for checking in with me. Means a lot."

He looked at her sideways and stopped trying to be coy. "So I heard you throwing up, you feeling okay?" He asked bluntly.

Sasha turned bright red as she stared at him. "What are you talking about?" She asked him, her lie obvious in her tone.

He turned and gave her a wry look that he was sure made it through his buy'ce. "I just want to make sure you're okay."

"I'm fine, alright," she responded rather irritably. "Can we please change the subject?"

"Sure, what do you want to talk about?" Kyr asked.

She took a moment to consider, her irritated look instantly fading away. She then bit her lip and looked over to him. "I know I have asked this before, but I am genuinely curious about what happened. And no one seems to give me a straight answer to it," she sounded worried before she asked her question. "What happened to Cien?"

Her sense of Kyr's mood was that he had been his usual jovial self, at least for this early in the morning, but when she said her name his emotions paled like someone splashed a bucket of cold water on his soul. "I..." He started, looking straight ahead through the viewport. "Didn't you find out already?" He asked.

"All I gathered from Kitsu was that you took her back to the Bloodstorm and then returned home," Sasha explained. "That's it. I just wanted to know if she was okay and if you have heard from her, because she hasn't reached out to me and I tried to reach out to her. I mean I can sense that she is still alive, but she is not answering me."

He was quiet for a while, assembling his thoughts and memories before he spoke. "After you guys… left," he started, "there were only a dozen or so troopers that were holding the cave, the rest had been turned. I actually came into the cave to see if I could hurry you guys along while they tried to hold the entrance. I gave Tac permission to deal with the undead, and he," Kyr paused. "Tac had a fun time of it. But the Bloodstorm couldn't stand up to the three Star Destroyers that had arrived and they were running. We got everyone evacuated onto the Shadow and Kitsu and Illara took off in their ship, we had to run from the Imps. She," he swallowed, hidden beneath his bucket, "Cien was badly hurt, and she needed medical facilities, so we fought our way to the Bloodstorm and got her aboard as they hyperspaced out. A lot of the crew thought she was a traitor, a usurper. Varden and his forces quieted that down some but I..." He paused, "I wanted to make sure she was safe. So I stayed aboard for two and a half months, until I had to leave. After that I lost track of her, I tried to find her after Endor, but she ran off with Moff Jiardon when the Empire started collapsing. I never found her."

Sasha stared at him, wide eyed. "I didn't know you had stayed that long. Did you get the chance to talk with her before you left?" She asked carefully.

He turned and cast a sideways glance at her. "Yeah. She healed up within a few weeks, I stayed for a while longer because…" he trailed off. "I stayed for a while longer, so I got to talk with her."

"May I ask why you stayed longer?" Sasha asked. "I mean, that was very kind of you to do that. I was just wondering why is all."

Kyr was quiet for a while before answering. "Before we all left, I talked with her in the dining room. I told her she wasn't alone, I wanted to keep that promise." He said quietly.

A small smile came to Sasha's lips as she listened. "So you were the one you gave her that advice, and that must be where she got the cookie too," she said more to herself than him.

He snorted in derision, "that damn cookie." He groused under his breath.

"What happened with the cookie?" Sasha asked, confused.

He continued to look straight ahead. "When we spoke I made this statement about how she wasn't surrounded by enemies, how she wasn't alone since she had us. She seemed so upset by everything that had happened, I thought that would make her feel better, knowing we had her back. That she had people to rely on for once. She looked like she was about to burst into tears after I said that. I felt so bad for her, I grasped at the first thing I could think to make her happy, and I offered her the cookie. She looked at me like I was absolutely insane, the dumbest person in the galaxy, before she accepted it. I guess just to be nice."

Sasha put a hand to her mouth as a small burst of giggles escaped her. "You really thought she was going to cry? Cien?"

Kyr just looked over at her. "Yes."

Immediately her smile dropped and she waved his hands frantically before her. "No! I'm sorry! I didn't mean it like that! I don't know where that came from. Please understand! I was just surprised by it all," she took a breath before continuing. "I'm sure that wasn't the case from Cien's perspective, but that was a very nice thing to do."

He just turned back to the view port and looked out the window.

She then frowned as she asked her next question. "So then why did you leave?"

He was quiet, and he was glad that he was hidden behind his buy'ce. He looked over at Sasha before looking back out the cockpit window. He looked like he started to speak. Then he looked over at her. "I..." He started, and he looked away. "I fell for her. Deeply. And it hurt too much to stay, because she would never be the kind of person to want that in her life." He looked over at her, "please keep that between us." He asked in an almost pleading tone.

She stared at him with wide and almost tear filled eyes. "Kyr…" She started to say then decided not to. "I promise. You have my word. This stays between us."

"Thank you Sash'ika." He said quietly. "And thank you for letting me tell you."

Sasha nodded at him.
