The next morning Remus woke early, He changed in the bathroom. He hated the way he looked in the mirror. Tall and scrawny, his body littered with scars. Even though the next full moon was not for another 2 weeks Remus could feel the beast inside him. It was always present, waiting to get out, waiting to kill. He looked away from the mirror and quickly put his clothes on.

Remus went to breakfast at 6 am, he was the first one in the great hall. Food was not yet on the tables. He couldn't get his timetable because McGonagall was not there yet. He decided to use his time to write a letter to his mother to tell her everything was fine and he was sorted into Gryffindor. His father was in Gryffindor before him so he hoped that he would be proud of him. His mother was a muggle so he tried to explain what it meant to be in Gryffindor as well as he could. But he was not even sure what it meant himsfelfbecause it just didn't make sense to him. While he was writing it more and more peaple trickled into the great hall. Just as he was finishing up his letter professor McGonagall walked in. He wanted to go up to her to ask for his timetable, but he wasn't sure if that was what he was supposed to do or if she would bring it to him. So he waited, when he saw another student walk up to her to ask for his timetable Remus finally dared to get his.

Professor McGonagall smiled and gave him his timetable. She told him that if he needed time off because of his issue it would be fine, and wished him good luck on his first day of class

His first class was History of Magic with ravenclaw. He decided to go to class early because he was scared he wouldn't be able to find the right classroom in the gigantic maze that was the castle. After a while he found it. He was the first one there. He decided to sit in the middle of the classroom on the windowside. A not too noticeable place. He hoped nobody would sit next to him. After a few minutes students started to trickle into the classroom. Professor Binns was just about to Start his class when Sirius and James came running in. One of the only empty spots was besides Remus. Sirius sat down next to him. The history lesson continued without much happening. The rest of the day nothing important happened. Most of the classes were just introductions into the subjects

That evening after dinner Remus went to his room to reread hogwarts: a history. Now that he was actually inside of the castle he could envision everything much better. Peter was there as well, he was playing a game of magical cards against himself. Just as Remus was starting to relax Sirius and James came in. They had gotten it into their head that it would be a good idea to play a game of truth and dare to get to know each other. Remus had hoped they would ignore him if he just ignored them. He really didn't wanna deal with friends.

It would be almost impossible to hide his disease if he got any friends because they would notice that he would be gone every month and after they found out they would inevitably hate him. No one could ever like such a disgusting beast as himself.

But unfortunately James decided to ask him the first question. "Truth or Dare' Remus didn't want to embarrass himself doing any dares so he chose truth.

"What are you reading?"

Remus almost sighed in relief, nothing personal. "Hogwarts: a history" he replied.

Then he asked Sirius "Truth or Dare"

Sirius chose dare so Remus asked him to try to do a handstand, unsure if this was an okay question. Sirius tried and failed miserably. James started to laugh and Peter and Remus joined him.

This wasn't so bad. He could get through a game of this. It was nice to interact with some people his age.

They played Truth or Dare until 10 pm. None of the questions were that personal so Remus was able answer almost all of them without having to lie to hide his disease. He started to feel more comfortable around them.

When they all went to bed Remus pretended to read until they all fell asleep before he went into the bathroom to change into his pajamas.

Remus fell asleep thinking there was a chance it was possible for him to make some friends. Maybe he didn't have to be alone. For the first time since he was bitten he had hope again. Maybe he wasn't a monster.

Over the next two weeks Remus, Sirius, James and Peter started to grow closer. They started to become friends. This was something that terrified Remus, but he couldn't stop it. He couldn't reject them. It felt too good to have friends for the first time in his life. Maybe they would never find out.

The closer the full moon got the more nervous Remus became. This was his first full moon away from home. That Oktober the full moon was on a friday.

The day before the full moon Madam Pomfrey took him to the whomping willow and showed him how to get to the shrieking shack.

The next day during dinner Remus murmured something to his friends about not feeling too well and left to go to the shrieking shack to await his transformation. He could already feel the monster inside of him trying to break out. He locked himself in an old moldy bedroom in the shrieking shack and tried to get as comfortable as possible while the monster inside him itched to get out.

As the moon began to rise above the horizon he felt the beast inside him take over his mind as his humanity started to slip away from him. He desperately tried to hold onto it. He hated the evil that took over his body, that only longed to kill. The pain in his body was agonising, He felt every bone in his body snap and reform as they broke and bend to the form of an animal. His skin tore open and was replaced by hair. His brain was compressed inside his skull as it turned into that of an animal, his face turned into a snout.

He tried to keep his consciousness but it was pushed away by the agonizing pain as his animal instincts took over. He became a vicious beast looking to kill.
