After the summer ended took Remus his mom him to kings cross station again. They were early. Remus was the first of the quartet to arrive. He found an empty compartment on the train and waited for the rest. Soon James and Peter joined him. When it was five to eleven Remus started to get worried. Sirius still wasn't there.
At eleven o'clock exactly Sirius came stumbling in, looking disheveled. "My parents wouldn't drop me off at kings cross, they only took my brother." "Said I wasn't their child. I had to walk all the way here" he said. He sat down. "Anyway, how were your summers?'
Because of the look on Sirius face the rest decided not to question him any further. James started talking about some quidditch game he had been to this summer.
Soon after that James, Sirius and Peter were involved in a heated discussion about some quidditch player. Remus didn't care about quidditch and just sat in a corner reading that year's defence against the dark arts textbook. He smiled, he had missed his friends.
The next few months went by pretty fast. Not a lot happened. Remus continued to tell his friends he went to see his grandmother every month. This continued until May when Remus came back after a particularly bad moon and had a gash all over the left side of his face.
When Remus came back to the dorm he tried to hide his face, he knew that was useless. The next day in school everyone would see it. But he just didn't wanna deal with it then. His friends would for certain mention it and he couldn't explain how he got it. He went straight to his bed and hid his face under the covers. Madam Pomfrey had done the best she could to heal it but it would remain a permanent scar.
The next morning James and Peter were extremely concerned and tried to pry all of the answers out of him. But Sirius remained silent, he had a strange look on his face. Remus noticed it immediately, did Sirius know? was he gonna tell everyone, then and there in the great hall. He would for sure get sent home, no one wanted to be in the same school as a monster. All his friends would hate him.
Sirius noticed how ill and tired Remus looked every time after a visit with his family. He had seen that Remus was in pain each month. And now he returned from his family with a visible wound on his face.
Sirius knew something was wrong at home, he recognised the signs. He noticed the fear every month before Remus went home.
His father had been beating him ever since he was a young boy. He was the bad child, the black sheep of the family especially after he had been sorted into gryffindor.
He couldn't let Remus suffer through the same hardships as him, Remus didn't deserve any of that. And now he had to go home every month to that awful situation. Sirius saw the dread in Remus's eyes every month before he went home. Sirius knew he had to do something.
After class Remus went to the library, strangely enough Sirius insisted on coming with him.
Remus started to feel panic building up inside his chest, Sirius hated the library, he avoided that place like the plague. He was certain Sirius was gonna confront him in the middle of the library
Then Sirius asked if they could go to someplace more private. Remus almost sighed in relief, he wouldn't reveal his secrets in front of the entire school. Maybe he wouldn't tell anyone.
They found an empty charms classroom and locked the door. "I know" Sirius said, "It is okay, you can talk to me about it. I won't tell anyone. Everything is gonna be fine." Even though Sirius wasn't even sure if that would be the case. He was certain after all that in his situation that wouldn't be the case. He was certain he would inevitably die at his fathers hand.
But maybe Remus would be able to escape his situation.
Remus started to cry. Even though Sirius assured him he wouldn't tell anyone Remus wasn't sure if he could believe him. How could everything ever be fine when he was a monster? And even if Sirius was okay with it, he was certain that James and Peter would be repulsed by him.
"How can it ever be fine when I am a monster" he sobbed "The whole school is gonna hate me"
"Monster?" Sirius asked, he was extremely confused. "Just because your parents hurt you doesn"t make you a monster. It makes them monsters"
Remus was sobbing now: "My parents don't hurt me, they are good people. My mother loves me even though I don't deserve to be loved. I am an evil beast. It is only a matter of time before I kill someone"
"You are a werewolf"
Remus sat shaking on the ground, he felt like he was gonna die. He couldn't breathe anymore, and he felt like he was about to vomit. It can't be true. he didn know.
"This is bad. He is gonna hate me. Everyone hates me." Remus' vision was blurred, he could barely make out what was happening. He gasped for air but it felt like his throat had just closed up. He couldn't get any air to his lungs. He felt like he was gonna choke. "Sirius hadn't found out"
Sirius saw Remus sitting there on the ground and he knew something was wrong. Remus's entire body was shaking. Sirius didn't know what to do. He didn't care at all that Remus was a werewolf but it looked like Remus was having a panic attack, and he didn't know how to help him. Sirius sat down next to him and just hugged the shivering and crying boy.
They sat there together for what felt like an eternity. Remus kept repeating I am a monster, I am a monster, I am a monster. While Sirius tried to assure him he was a good person. After a long while Remus had calmed down enough for Sirius to ask him a few questions.
Remus explained everything about his condition to Sirius. He still couldn't believe Sirius was fine with it.
After that they walked back to their dormatorie together. It was already dark outside. James and Peter were too busy devising a strategy for their next prank to notice that Remus's eyes were red from crying.
An: Sorry this chapter is a bit chaotic with the pov's. I didn't know how to write it.
