After everyone had settled in the Treehouse and Rachel managed to recover from the Girlfriend stuff Nigel went to the Grocery store with Rachel, he wanted to go alone since he didn't want to bother the other operatives but Rachel insisted on tagging along to help him carry the groceries she even threatened to make it an order
"I know I already said it back in the treehouse but sorry about my grandfather I didn't expect him to know how to get in the treehouse" said Nigel scratching his head
"He is your Grandpa I should be the one apologizing about getting weak on my knees in front of his Grandson even though I know he isn't a threat anymore, I'm sure the others are embarrassed about this as much as I am" Said Rachel trying to comfort him
"Thanks for greeting him by the way, no matter what you say I know it must be hard especially for you" said Nigel
"Well he said I was gentle and he thought I was your girlfriend it's more compliment than zero which I'm used to getting so I think I can find it in my heart to forgive the current him" Rachel chuckled blushing a little
"Sorry if he made you embarrassed with this kind of stuff Numbuh 362, you know old people like to say this kind of stuff" said Nigel a bit nervous trying to brush the subject off
"We are between friends here Nigel, you can call me Rachel you know? Besides I wasn't bothered by what your Grandpa said, a bit embarrassed maybe but being your girlfriend would be no offense" Said Rachel
As they entered the grocery store, it wasn't until Rachel managed to get the cart that she realized what she just said, she looked back at Nigel and he was clearly embarrassed
"So… it was good your father gave you some extra money so we could buy soda and stuff to eat… he is nice for an adult" she said trying to change the subject
"Y-yeah he is very nice…" He said clearly blushing with his current situation "Soo… about this truce you guys made…"
Rachel immediately turned around looking at Nigel visibly annoyed by his question "Nigel, I don't want to talk about my job really, this is the entire idea behind the truce, ask me about it a month from now and I will talk with you for hours about it but before that I want to enjoy my vacations"
"I-I'm sorry Rachel, I sometimes forget talking about other things besides Kids Next Door stuff, I will try to avoid the topic" said Nigel scratching his head while smiling at her
"At least you remembered to say my name" She smiled at him while crossing her arms" come on let's buy the stuff your dad asked and get back to the Treehouse
After they finished buying everything including the Sodas and the beans Numbuh 1 and Numbuh 362 left the grocery store, Numbuh 1 insisted on carrying the two bags as they weren't that heavy
"Huhhh.. thanks for carrying the bags" Said Rachel a bit awkwardly
"No problem, you are a guest in our Sector it's only natural I don't let you carry stuff" said Numbuh 1 while walking on the sidewalk with raches beside him
"Quite the gentleman" she giggled before both of them went silent for a few minutes but while they walked Rachel thought it was her chance, she wouldn't let the opportunity escape her this time! She approached Numbuh 1's side even more and held his hand, Numbuh 362 couldn't be more embarrassed right now but she made her move and that was what mattered
Numbuh 1 immediately froze up and blushed as he took a few seconds to process the whole situation before resuming walking, they both stayed silent the rest of the way home
Nigel and Rachel stopped by the main house to deliver the Beans to Nigel's father when they passed through the Living room they saw an unexpected situation
"Come on Drilovsky, is this really necessary?" Asked Numbuh 86 sitting on the couch
There it was cold sweating visibly afraid Patton and Grandfather playing chess on the living room table with Numbuh 86 watching "This is a game of focus Fullbright, don't distract us"
Nigel and Rachel tried to contain their amusement at the scene before them "I'm gonna get this stuff to my Father you can go up the Treehouse or watch this confront of titans" Said Nigel chuckling as he walked across the Living room and entered the kitchen where his father was preparing the food
Rachel waved Fanny to the hallway next to the living room where they could talk in private "What the hell happened while I left?"
"Patton got embarrassed about what happened earlier and decided to try having a normal conversation with gramps over there, the old man invited him to play chess and he accepted, he thinks this is a good way to prepare for the dinner with dad" she looked over her shoulder at the two playing "But enough talking about my problems, how was it? Did you tell him?"
"Well kinda, I told him it would be no offense for me being his girlfriend since he got embarrassed earlier, Grandfather actually improved my chances to be honest" Said Rachel while resting her back on the wall "The best part was the way back though I actually managed to muster the courage to hold his hand, we were walking holding hands just until now, he was silent the whole way, I think it's complicated for him"
Numbuh 86 could barely contain her joy from what she was hearing, she was listening to Rachel talk about it while biting her nails the whole time "I'm so happy for you!" she couldn't help but squeal a little before coughing a little and trying to regain her composure "That's great news, what is your plan now?" still smiling very happy for her friend
"I have a whole month to think of it, I will try not going too crazy or too scheming about it" she laughed
While the girls were talking Nigel was delivering the Beans from the grocery store to his dad
"Dad?" asked Nigel while putting the Bean cans on the kitchen table
"Ask away Son" Said Monty Uno while preparing food in the Oven and humming a song
"How do you know if someone likes you?" Said Numbuh 1 while looking at his father
"Hmmm.. that's a tough one we can't read other people's minds you know that? Hahaha but from what I know usually if you are asking this kind of question it means you also like the person" He said while taking one of the Cans from the table "Will your friends stay for Lunch?"
"Huhhh I don't think so, they brought food from home, and dad? Thanks for the advice" Numbuh 1 left the kitchen and when he returned to the Living room Rachel and Fanny were finishing talking about their trip to the grocery store in the back of the Hallway so he couldn't hear much about it while Patton and Grandfather were finishing their game, a complete victory for gramps
After that they all went to the Treehouse with the sodas and the food they bought in the Grocery store Numbuh 1 left soon after to have lunch with his family, Numbuhs 2 and 5 were playing cards in the kitchen table while Numbuh 3 was rubbing ointment on Numbuh 4 hands
"Your hands will go back to normal soon enough Wally, you will be able to hug all Rainbow monkeys in the world after they heal"
"I am not hugging any stupid Rainbow Monkeys forget it"
Kuki started sobbing and crying in front of him "Pleeeease…"
"Awww… tsk maybe one but that's it!" said Numbuh 4 a bit embarrassed by the whole ordeal
"Yaaaaaay!" she immediately recovered
Numbuh 4 sighed "I'm going to my room, I need to check on some things in there"
"Your room is a literal boxing ring you have no business in there" said Numbuh 2 "You will break your hands like that"
"I'm just going to lay for a bit. I don't plan on doing any training so soon, I'm on vacation too you know?"
"Can I go with you? the Hamsters are sleeping in my room this time of day I don't wanna wake them up, I promise I won't bother you" Said Numbuh 3 looking happily at him
Wally just knew she was lying there was no way she would be quiet around his room, that said he did need to think about her and about what happened at the closet here in the Treehouse "uuuuugh fine, I know you will just keep knocking in my door if I say no"
"Injured hands Numbuh 4 is soooo much more gentle than normal Numbuh 4 hehehe" said Kuki hugging him and tagging along with him to his room
Rachel,Fanny and Patton approached Numbuhs 2 and 5 at the kitchen table while they were finishing their cards and preparing to make some sandwiches with the stuff from the grocery store as Numbuhs 3 and 4 left the room Rachel had to ask "Do they know about…" Before she could finish Numbuh 2 answered
"Before that kiss we saw at the moonbase monitor she kissed him while he was normal here at the Treehouse inside a closet" he said while folding pieces of bread with pieces of cheese and ham like playing cards "So he pretty much remembers and I told him about the horror show we saw in the screen back at the moonbase" He proceeded to put those little sandwich toothpicks in each one he was finishing to prepare
"Numbuh 3 is acting chummier than usual with him too, it could be his hand injuries but Numbuh 5 thinks there is something more about it" Said Abby as she handed a bottle of soda to Rachel
"I hope everything goes well between them, It must suck getting your first kiss as a zombie and from a zombie" Rachel said that before drinking the soda straight from the bottle "Hoagie can you hand me one of those?" she pointed at the towers of sandwiches he had finished doing
"Haha Yeah I-I was totally doing it for you guys" he handed her one of the sandwiches "I wasn't making them for me to eat all by myself that's absurd"
"I didn't say anything" said Rachel
everyone at the table looked at him with a disapproving look but soon started to laugh while they took some of the sandwiches for themselves
Back in Numbuh 4's room Wally was sitting in the corner of the boxing ring thinking while playing a game on his Gameboy, Kuki was playing with one of her Rainbow monkeys at the center of the boxing ring
"I forgot to thank you for the stuff you rubbed in my hands earlier Kuki, I can't punch things yet sure but it doesn't hurt anymore when I try to play something"
"Oh no need to thank me Wally" she grinned "it's moonbase stuff I ordered for the medical bay a few weeks ago, they always have the best stuff"
Numbuh 4 wasn't sure how to break the news about what happened in the closet, he liked the girl but he didn't want it to happen the way it did, the nightmare he had this night was just a memory of the exact moment Kuki's zombie face tackled him for the kiss
Numbuh 3 was still thinking about a way to bring something up about the conversation she listened him having with the others yesterday, she was afraid of asking him in her usual cheerful way and making him angry about the topic but she didn't know any other way to ask him something like that, in the end she decided she was going on the offensive, she got up in the middle of the ring and walked towards wally
Wally noticed the shade that was forming in front of him and lowered his game to see kuki standing right in front of him "H-hey what's up?" he said a bit overwhelmed and surprised with her standing tall right in front of him
"Do you mind if I rest my head on your lap? the floor in the boxing ring is a bit hard" she scratched the side of her head a bit meekly
"I would say you should just use one of your stupid monkeys as a pillow but you took care of me this morning so… yeah sure go ahead just don't make any loud noises or I will kick you out, I'm still having a headache from the nightmare I had this night"
"You don't need to tell me twice, the one I had was horrible too" she rested her head on his lap hugging one of her rainbow monkeys while he kept playing his game still sitting on the corner of the ring "I was overwhelmed by the hamster they were crawling all over my face while Numbuh 5 was watching" she frowned
"I'm sorry I left you alone, I thought you released my hand to run faster" he stopped playing his game and started stroking her head to comfort her at least that's how they say it works while she was silently blushing
"It was my fault that I got worried about the hamsters don't be so hard on yourself" she giggled
"Hey… do you remember anything that happened while you were a zombie?" He asked still stroking her head now he also started blushing at the current situation
"No… I think it's for the better, Numbuh 1 said I tried to attack him and that we said bad things about him" Said Numbuh 3
"You know… you were the one who zombified me, the nightmare I had this night was with you…" He said a bit worried about her reaction to this news
She stood in silence for a few seconds, she was enjoying pretending she didn't already know about it and his hands were patting her head very gently but she still took these few seconds to think how to continue their conversation "How was it? Did I punch you or something?"
"Uhhhh…" Now his cheeks were full red. He didn't know if he should lie or if he should tell her the truth "Do you want the truth or the version that won't make me bury my head in the ground?"
"The truth, if I hurt you while I was a zombie I wanna know every detail" she turned around while still lying on his lap and looked at his face, he was blushing and even sweating a bit, she thought it was cute
"When I ran away from the hamsters I thought you were right behind me, I hid in the closet, you practically went inside it with me, it was all dark then you asked if we… we…" he stopped in the last bit of his sentence his face felt hot
"Are you okay? you don't look so good" Numbuh 3 put her hand on his forehead "Weird, you don't have a fever" she looked at him again "What did I ask you?"
I-I'm fine it's nothing to worry about, well about what you asked me… you kind of asked me to kiss you… you know… on the lips and stuff"
Nothing could prepare her for listening to him saying it in person while looking into his eyes, she was confident she would be all smug when he was going to tell her but all of a sudden all blood rose to her face instantly "Uhhhhh… d-did we do it? Did we k-kiss inside the closet?"
"Y-Yeah… at the beginning I said no but I thought it was my last chance before I turned in a zombie to kiss you so I couldn't let it pass, right when we were about to kiss Numbuh 5 opened the closet and I saw you were turned into a zombie, I screamed then you grabbed my head and kissed me by force that's how you turned me into a zombie, sorry for not telling you yesterday I actually spent these past few hours thinking about a way to tell you this that wouldn't make me want to dig a hole and live inside it forever"
I already knew about it, I listened to you and the others talking about it yesterday in the Living room, I-I wanted to mess with you and say I already knew about it in a funny way to see your face but… listening to you saying it while looking at you face to face is.. too overwhelming"
"Do you wanna stop talking about it? I'm barely keeping it together here too" he stopped stroking her head
"No way, I'm enjoying it no matter how embarrassing it is" she laughed "Did you… did you like it?"
"No way, too old for me, your mouth had too many wrinkles and you had a scary look the entire time" He laughed
She laughed with him "Do you… do you wanna go for a rematch? she smiled playfully as she left his lap to now sit right in front of him blushing but smiling
"Are you serious?" He was surprised by her request "No surprises this time?"
"I could turn off the lights and try making you scream again" she approached him
"Nah that's fine the way it is" he approached his face towards her too until both their foreheads were touching
They stood like that for a few seconds but it was Wally in the end who took the initiative and kissed her first, they stood there both sitting in the corner of the boxing ring for a few seconds
"So? still wrinkly and scary?" she joked while giggling at him
"No way, I could get used to this" he laughed at her question
"Good" She grabbed his orange hoodie and pulled him into another kiss this one was way more intense and way less shy
He pulled away from the kiss for a moment to speak "Yeah I was right, this is addicting" he kissed her back
They stayed doing that and exchanging compliments and laughs for about an hour. Sometimes Wally would try to get funny and get his hand slapped by Kuki more than one time.
After they finished cuddling both left the room, Wally's arm was wrapped around her shoulder while she hugged his body they were back in the living room the second they were in their friend's field of view all the attention in the room was on them, Numbuh 1 had returned from lunch with his family some time ago and noticed the way his teammates were acting differently
"Are you Lovebirds not hungry? Numbuh 5 was keeping Numbuh 2 here off from eating everything because of you guys" said Abby who smiled at her two friends knowing exactly in what kind of relationship they were in now just by looking at them
"You kept this guy here from eating everything in the table?" He look at Numbuh 2 who tried to look happy but was very disappointed as he and Kuki both took some sandwiches for themselves "Thanks Numbuh 5, I owe you one"
"I will use this favor right now to ask you how it was with you two, and don't you try to fool Numbuh 5, everyone here knows exactly the gist of what happened in the past hour I only want the deets" Said Numbuh 5 smiling at the two.
"Oh come on… you are a girl and you are on vacation don't you have something better to do than hearing gossip from us? I don't know go do your nails or something like that it must be way more interesting" Numbuh 3 and 4 sat one next to the other at the dinner table as they started eating their sandwiches
"I have a whole month to do them shorty" She laughed "You have Numbuh 5's attention now so don't go changing subjects I want only the truth"
He sighed "For starters? she heard us while we were talking yesterday, she knew about the whole thing" he told while supporting his elbow on the table and drinking from a can of soda
"Pay" Numbuh 5 looked at Rachel who grumped as she took a bag of arcade tokens from her pocket and tossed it to Numbuh 5 who caught it
Numbuh 3 giggled a bit at their bet but continued from where Wally left off "I was planning to mess with him by being alright while he was embarrassed and telling him I already knew about it to see his face but… I couldn't keep my cool, I ended up as red as him when he told me in person"
"I bet he didn't tell you about the Moonbase transmission though" Hoagie said while eating one of the sandwiches with another two already on his hands
"Transmission?" Numbuh 3 looked puzzled at Numbuh 2
"Hey, come on that was while we were both zombies it doesn't matter here" Said Numbuh 4
Fanny interrupted the two "let me do this one it was great, a gross kind of great but still great" Numbuh 86 said while trying to contain her laughter "We were trying to contact you guys, the moonbase was already practically taken by the zombies, that was a few hours after you were turned into zombies I guess, when we managed to get you two we only heard the voice and we were asking if you found the stuff we needed, you just said you didn't found it but had found something better then the image had cleared out and we were seeing you two had turned into zombies at that exact moments you both said EACH OTHER then you both kissed, Me, Numbuh 2 and Rachel saw it and she immediately ordered for me to shoot the screen
Numbuhs 86, 2 and 5 started laughing after hearing it even though they already knew about it Numbuh 60 and Nigel smiled but didn't laugh even though they did not know about this story
Wally and Kuki were both a bit embarrassed by the story but they both had to admit it was a bit funny, Rachel stood there in silence looking at both of them
"I thought it was cute" she said smiling at them both "It was just a bit too old for my tastes, now if I could see it again…" she gave them a bit of a provocatory smile
Everyone in the room even Numbuh 60 and Nigel who were not paying that much attention until now looked at Rachel then back at the couple
Numbuh 4 whispered to Numbuh 3 covering his mouth so none of them could read his lips "What do we do? doing it in private is one thing but with everyone seeing is crazy"
Numbuh 3 covered her mouth as well "If we don't do it now they will keep messing with us forever you dummy, that's what she wants" she whispered while smiling at him
"Good point, I still gonna bury my head in the floor after this" Wally whispered and got back to talking with his friends "Alright"
Everyone looked shocked "For real?" Rachel asked wide-eyed
"If we were trying to hide it from you guys we would refuse to do it but…" She turned her head towards wally as he did the same and both kissed in front of everyone at the table "...We Just don't see why we should do it"
Numbuhs 3 and 4 were blushing but so was everyone at the table who were also with their mouth open in surprise, Numbuh 4 approached Numbuh 3 and started whispering to her "It really had an effect on them"
Rachel was the first to respond "Yup, now the age is perfect" she laughed
Nigel returned to what he was doing and Numbuh 60 returned to eating with his girlfriend at his side, Fanny got visibly annoyed by the situation
"Hey Drilovsky" Said Numbuh 86
Patton swallowed his sandwich and turned his attention to his girlfriend, he already knew what to expect from the way she called him so he was ready to get either a kiss or a punch, perhaps both
And right he was, Fanny pulled him gently with one arm and kissed him on the lips in front of everyone as well "Okay, i needed that"
"Oh come on Fullbright, you know it's the man's responsibility to do it" he said a bit annoyed at her as he put his arm around her this time and kissed her
She blushed terribly and attempted to punch him but stopped midway to feel her cheeks catching fire
Their exchange was funny, everyone at the table chuckled at their reaction to Wally and Kuki kissing, everyone except Rachel who was looking at Nigel after that and Nigel himself who was concentrated thinking about something else.
