"The only thing that could've done it. A werewolf." The black haired male said. The boys took noticed they were in uniforms, policeman uniforms that were forest green uniform tops and brown pants with thick boots on with hooded coats on over their uniforms. There names were on their lapel badges. 'Honda' was the Brunette and 'Devilin' was the black haired male.
"Werewolves..?" Judai said questioningly.
"What do you mean by werewolves?" Chazz pokes at the repeated response. Officer Devlin who had his shades on took them off to look at the 6 of them. "Exactly what my partner means. This town has always had a legend about the woods, since it was first built. That the natives here who were here before the town were shapeshifters. But people referred to them as Werewolves because they took to the shape of wolves and were often seen more than anything."
Officer Honda left to start questioning some of the kids in the groups, especially the jocks. Officer Devlin looked at them once more. "Did you kids know the victim well?" He looked down at Syrus who attempted to speak up, his voice cracking.
"He bullied me Judai and Chazz.. Im not happy this is how he went after hurting us yesterday.. but he had it coming." Chazz nodded in agreement with the shorter boy. Judai was apprehensive to agree. "Even if he was mean to us, a person still died… no matter how it happened it wasn't deserved." Judai's hands clenched into fists, Johan still having his grip on the brunette lets him go slightly to pat his head.
"Your too pure, Judai.." Judai looks at Johan his brown eyes milky with emotions. Johan turns red and rubs his hand into Judai's face ruffling his bangs and face. "D-don't look at me like that!" The guys around them laugh at Johan's embarrassment and the teal haired male pulled his hoodie over his head blushing harder.
Officer Honda raised an eyebrow at the name spoke. "Judai.. as in Judai Yuki?" Chazz and Syrus looked at their friend in confusion. Chazz hissed. "Dude since when does a policeman know your name?" Judai looked at his black haired friend and shook his head confusion etched on his face as well.
"That's me." He spoke up taking a step forward. Officer Honda looked him over again. The two sizes each other up for a good minute before the officer spoke. "You don't know me. But I was there the day of the accident, when your father slid off the road hit that tree and you were nowhere to be found."
Judai's eyes widen heavily at his words. 'The same accident mom and dad don't bring up??' The accident was vague in his memories, but his parents constantly warned him to stay away from the woods. "What happened exactly?!" Judai shouted at the officer, desperation in his voice.
"We believed that after the collision… something large, an animal of sorts got the door of the car open and dragged your body into the woods." Chazz and Syrus were caught by surprise, heavy gasps escape them.
Hassleberry Jim and Johan tighten their gazes on the Officer. The officer was pushing his luck talking about something that happened so long ago. It made the three wonder why bother bringing it up unless the man suspected something.
"A-an animal..?" Judai stuttered his voice shaky. Honda nodded looking at him. "Before we arrived you were still missing and several officers were sent into the woods to check for you. Ten minutes after we started, Officer Rex found you, still bloody. The hospital reported that the blood around your shoulder wound was still lined with glass but that there was saliva mixed in the blood." Honda recounted the incident.
"You were shaken up but stable. You didn't stay at the hospital very long either and your parents refused to let us question you about what happened." It was understandable, Judai was only 6 and his parents wanted to make him repress the memories. Being nearly killed by wild animals mustve frightened them to warn him to stay out of the woods.
That's when the principal came out and started ushering the police away. "That's enough. Scram. I'll have no more of you interrogating the children Honda, Devlin." Their principal, Mrs Hawkins approached the group her blonde hair blowing behind her, she wore an oversized brown coat with a turquoise button down top and white dress pants with black work boots. Her large hand bag slung over her shoulder.
She smiled at the boys giving a hand gesture to go on in. "You have a nice day boys. Get to class." The new students practically dragged the three outcasts inside the building, clearly in dismay over everything they heard from the officer.
"You three don't listen to a damn word those guys say. Werewolves are a local legend. Nobody's ever seen them." Hassleberry's words were laced with a lie. Johan smacked Hassleberry upside the head. The 4 boys wince at the impact as Hassleberry's head was cocked to the side from the hit.
"Don't be such a liar. Yes they do exist. But nobody knows what they truly look like cause they live amongst the people." Johan stuffed his hands in his hoodie pockets as he contradicted Hassleberry. Chazz ruffled his hair awkwardly and thoughtfully. "So… they're like normal people?" Both Jim and Johan perked up at the black haired males words, theyre reactions leaves the three with slight surprise.
"Exactly!" They both spoke together before Jim continued. "Just because they're half beasts, doesn't mean they don't want normal lives as much as the rest of us. They hide out in the woods when they have to shift. It's strange that someone was willing to target a teenager." Jim rested his arms across his chest. Johan and Hassleberry rolled their eyes.
The three in general were hoping to cement the normalacy of werewolves before even thinking of telling their new friends, let alone mention their theory about Judai and his attack. "You three sure know a lot about this place for being new students.." Chazz points out which Judai was thinking as well.
He had thought they were either familiar with the town, lived here before or were residents that went to another school. The only problem being with the last one was he never saw them before in town.
"Yea.. we've been around." The group left it at that as the bell rang for class as Syrus and Chazz ran off to their classes while Judai lead the three to their own classes. During class Judai asked to head to the library much to the dismay of the new students during history. They weren't doing much besides going over the test which Judai passed with good grades.
Judai wanted to see if the library had any books on the woods or it's legend, the Werewolves. He walks down the halls and around the corner into the library which was closed off by a large glass door entry way that let you see inside the room. He walked through the electric scanner which went off if you didn't check out the books you were looking at, it basically prevented theft of library books.
He started looking for nonfiction history books and found some interesting ones on the legends surrounding the town. "Hmm maybe I can find more like this online as well.." he said thoughtfully as he was about to walk out. He returned to class while checking his phone about the werewolf legends online, but with no luck.
The day progressed as the 6 boys went to the cafeteria to get lunch, the school still buzzing about Bruce's death as some of them received looks or even threats, some even questioned them. "I'm getting sick of these accusations… I have time better spent doing my projects than wasting it plotting the death of the school's biggest egoistical scumbag that walked the planet..!" Chazz nearly crushed his full carton of milk in his grip out of pure rage.
The group took a seat at the back end of the cafeteria to get away from the eyes looking around them. Jim waved off the annoyed air around them. "Don't give those blookers the time of day." The others nod their heads as Johan dug into his bag and pulled out his left over pound cake from this morning.
"With all the craziness that happened, I never got to finish Judai's mother's pound cake." He chirped happily laying the bag on his tray next to his burger and tattertots. Judai looked bashful again as he did this morning watching his new friend devour the delicious baked good before even tackling his lunch.
"Do you guys have plans for tonight?" Judai spoke up suddenly, catching the gaze of the three men seated across from them. The three exchanged looks and shrugs before looking back at Judai. "Well, my parents are busy working for the night and mom said I could have friends over. I wondered if you guys wanna join us."
The lingering silence after his question nearly made the brunette flee under the table in embarrassment as Chazz started to laugh at Hassleberry's Jim's and Johan's dumbfounded expressions. "You guys look like a bunch of fish! Close your mouths and answer the poor boy before he crawls under the table like a hermit." Judai retorted his face bright red at Chazz's words.
"Urusai, Chazz-kun!" Judai was so embarrassed that his dialect switched to Japanese as he spoke. This caught the attention of the three boys. "Oooh so your from Japan after all!" Hassleberry butted in on what would've been a tease fight between the two, Chazz enjoying how embarrassed his best friend was getting.
"Y-yes.. I have a bad habit of switching sometimes.." Judai mumbles out his voice soft and sounding almost quiet which isn't like himself. Johan grabbed Judai's arm squeezing it catching the brunette off guard once again today. He wasn't sure why but the teal hair boy was giving him huge amounts of comfort and he wasn't used to it outside Chazz and Syrus. "It doesn't matter where your from, your here now and you always will be welcomed here." Judai doesn't answer as Jim picks up where Johan leaves off.
"We're free tonight. It would be interesting to come hang out at your place Judai." Syrus Chazz and Judai looked estatic. Chazz punch his fist in the air. "Awesome! I'm ordering Chinese for everyone tonight!" When Chazz was in a great mood he was quite generous with paying for meals. Yesterday cause they were studying at his house, the three split the cost for the pizza the group had.
"Your quite gracious aren't ya, mate?" Jim points out to Chazz's sudden behavior twist. Normally Chazz is aloof and grumpy around strangers or other students who like to insult them. But when he hung out with Syrus and Judai he pretty much mellowed out and was a bit cheeky with his sarcasm and humor. Syrus was pretty much nice to everyone except when he got bullied he tend to lash out or even get annoyed. These two were no pushovers, even when getting beaten up.
"No big thing! Let's have fun and enjoy the start of the weekend!" The boys all cheered and started to talk about what they could do tonight.
As the group settled down to enjoy lunch Blair walked up to them, her tray and book bag in hand. "Hey Syrus? Do you mind helping me out with studying for Mr. Crenshaw's test for next week?" Syrus's grey eyes looked at Blair with awe and surprise.
The guys looked worried not wanting their shorty friend to miss out on the fun, but Judai and Chazz knew Syrus was Blair's tutor and couldn't turn her down. The light blue haired smiled casually then spoke up. "Actually, how about you join us at Judai's house tonight? We're gonna be hanging out and I can help you study." This made Hassleberry jump up his hands pound against the table.
"GREAT IDEA PRIVATE! We could use the study time!" Jim pulled the army boy down on his ass giving him a humored looked but with some sternness to it. Blair looked to Judai for confirmation. Judai's brown eyes light up as a wide smile grazed his face.
"Blair your welcome to join us!" Blair surprised by the invitation and welcoming to the occasion felt overwhelmed for a minute. "I-i'll give you my answer on the bus today!" She calls as she walks away from the table almost in a rushed fashion. Her face was red with surprise and embarrassment. She never expected the rest of the group to be so friendly and welcoming. Then again she should've realized since it was Syrus's friends.
'It might be fun… but I have to think about it!' She smiled to herself as she herself went to enjoy her own lunch.
