Luna knows how much her older sister has longed for a foul or filly of her own and mentoring young gifted unicorn ponies has given Celestia a chance to be around foals and fillies for years but Luna can tell only only one of those fillies has captured her older sisters heart: Twilight Sparkle, whom she wants to adopt, at the request of her dead parents and brother.
Looking from her balcony overlooking the gardens, the younger ruler of Equestria sees her sister and Twilight by the fountain, Twilight with her front hooves in the crystal clear water.
"Were you serious about adopting me?" Luna hears the young, purple pony ask her mentor who reggally walks to the pony and looks at her student before replying in her soft, calm voice "I've never been so serious about anything in my life." Celestia says, Twilight smiles.
"Does this mean I can call you Mom?" The lavender pony asks sheepishly, almost embarrassed Luna smiles widely at the thought of her sister finally getting the filly she's always longed for.
"You can call me whatever you want to, Twilight." Luna's sister replies emotionally. Luna smiles at the thought of having a little niece in the castle to play with.
She knows her sister will be the best mother she can be to Twilight.Twilight sighs happily as she walks around Canterlot trying to find her friends, who she was told by a guard, that they were escorted to the city.
Twilight hears Pinkie Pie's infectious laughter from a cafe not far from her and princess Celestia's favorite smoothie shop. She smiles ear to ear: she can't believe that her mentor, Princess Celestia is adopting her in a few days, they both agreed to wait after the funerals of her parents and brother before announcing it to the kingdom in a few weeks.
Twilight sees her pony friends with Spike next to Rainbow.
Twilight sits down next to Applejack. "How ya doin' sugarcube?" The orange Earth pony asks quietly, Twilight shrugs, debating whether or not to tell them about the adoption.
What will they say?Twilight asks herself.They're your best friends, you can trust them.Her mind reasons with her.She looks at her friends and smiles.
"I'm doing okay, Princess Celestia and Princess Luna have been taking very good care of me, they watched over me as I slept all night, and," Twilight trails off, her voice becoming a whisper. Her eyes narrow as she fixes her friends with a stern glare. "My parents and brother want Princess Celestia to adopt me and become my new mother, but she wouldn't do it unless me and Princess Luna agreed first and we did, guys, Princess Celestia is going to be my new mom." She says quietly, her friends are silent as they take in the news.
"So let me get this straight: your parents and older brother died and they wanttheprincess of Equestria to adopt you not even a day after their deaths?!" Rainbow exclaims. Twilight looks at her blue coloured friend. "Yes, because according to Celestia, she's the only pony, aside from Luna that they trust with me, so it makes sense that they ask them to continue raising me, so in a few weeks, all of Equestria will know that Princess Celestia is my mom and Princess Luna my aunt, you're the only ponies outside the castle who know, you're not to tell anypony before we tell the kingdoms." The five ponies and Spike just nod, knowing if they tell anypony this, they'll be in major trouble, not just by Twilight but by the princesses as well.
