Temporarily Forgetful

Okay so in the first chapter we saw that Tomada had saved Sorrel's life from the deathly attack from another predator. And our favourite falcon is now trying to nurse her back to full health! But one thing you have to realise is that our favourite blue female Sorrel only recently met this new figure…so how will things go in this chapter? Let's find out shall we?

Two Hours Later…

After what had happened earlier on in the morning, Tomada had brought back some food and some water for his patient that he will be taking care of.

She happily ate the food that was offered to her, and drank a fair bit of the water that had been provided. As well as sitting in the hollow by herself, while Tomada was out trying to break some bark off of a tree, to serve as a divider to give her some privacy.

But while he was out doing what he needed to do…Sorrel on the other wing…was acting a little…strange?

"Hmmmm…how did I get here again?" She spoke to herself curiously while looking all around herself. Noticing that the hollow she was in, was unfortunately not her very own hollow. And of course this was a huge worry for her, considering she had already forgotten how she ended up like this. "Ouuuch! My stomach! What the hell?"

The blue macaw female looked down once more and noticed that she still had the bandages covering up her m wounds. Then she started to panic out loud.

"Oh god! Did I get attacked?! Oh shit! I'm gonna die in here!" Sorrel was acting very strangely. One moment she was petrified of a random predator who attacked her. Then she was scared of Tomada. Then she was calm when introducing herself. Then scared again when waking up to see him. Now she is scared again? What is going on with her?

"Hey! I'm back with the bark!" A new voice entered the hollow, and Tomada returned with what he was looking for. But what he wasn't expecting, was a certain scream from a petrified blue female.

"AHHHHHHH! STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME! STAY AWAY! GO AWAY!" Sorrel screamed in terror, looking around for something to throw at him. She looked at the coconut that the falcon had brought back for her. She quickly grasped it in her wing, and threw it at his head. Making him stumble a little bit, holding his nose.

"Ooooh! Ouch! Hey! What did I do Sorrel? I was only getting the divider?" Tomada replied while rubbing his sore nose.

"Well I don't want you to…hey? How do you know my name?" Sorrel replied curiously and shuffled backwards in fear.

"Hold on a second? Haven't we done this twice already? Have you…forgotten what happened earlier today?" The peregrine falcon responded as he placed the coconut shell in the floor of the hollow.

"What do you mean? How the hell do you know me?!"

"We already introduced each other twice! I'm Tomada, you're Sorrel, I saved your life from being killed by a predator, and I promised to nurse you back to full health!" Tomada explained in a calm tone as he sat down opposite of her. But then…something in his mind clicked…he had seen this kind of thing happen before. "Hold on…you lost a lot of blood when that falcon slashed you…and you were incredibly light headed? Ahhh I see, you have temporary memory loss! It makes sense!"

"So…I'm…temporarily forgetful?" Sorrel answered quite sadly, and gave him a really upset glance.

"Unfortunately so! But don't worry! I have learned how to heal from my father! And I remember when we were kids, a snake tried to kill me when I was a child and the snake bit me on the wing, but before the venom sank into my skin my dad stabbed it in the head with a sharp stick! I lost a lot of blood and I too suffered with temporary memory loss!"

"So how did you remember everything after that?" Sorrel asked as she didn't look so terrified anymore, and was more interested in the facts that the falcon was sharing with her.

"It took me a few months, but because you got a deeper wound, it could take you a little longer! But I promise you Sorrel, I'm not here to hurt you! I'm here to help you! I will protect you with my life until you are fully better!" Tomada spoke in a soothing tone, and went to have a look at the bandages on her stomach. But she immediately jolted backwards. "What's the matter?"

"I'm just…I'm just scared that if you take these leaves off, the blood might pour from my stomach again!" She sadly spoke and covered the bandages with her wing.

Where Tomada was so gentle and caring with his patient, he placed a comforting wing on her shoulder. Causing her to feel a little awkward about it.

"You can trust me Sorrel! I know what I'm doing!" Tomada responded as he massaged her shoulder gently.

She did have some negative thoughts about this idea in her head, but the way he was taking to her. Reassuring her that everything was going to be alright, she eventually nodded her head and removed her wing from her stomach.

Tomada proceeded to bring some fresh leaves and a shell of tree sap closer by. And held his wings on the vines. "Now I want you to take a deep breath and try to keep still! If you want, you can bite down on my wing if you have the urge to scream!"

"But…wouldn't that hurt you?" She asked in a concerned manner, as she felt bad that she could hurt him.

"What hurts me more is seeing you in pain! What will make me feel better is knowing that you are okay!" He replied with a warm smile, as he took the vines off of her. "Now I need you to hold your wings on the leaves okay!"

"Ohh, okay!" The blue female followed instructions and held her stomach quite firmly, preparing for her bandages to be changed.

Tomada pulled the vines off loosely so he could use them again to keep the new bandages on. Then he slowly peeled the leaves off of her wound, and Sorrek reacted by biting down on his wing.

"Mmmmmmmmm!" She screamed on his wing, and it did make him flinch a little bit. But not so much, due to his larger size.

He waved his wing hovering the wounds on her body, to let some air get to it. There were still some drips of blood that poured from the wound. But luckily most of it was drying quite nicely. Which was a good sign.

"Okay, most of the blood is drying which is a good thing! But to avoid infection, I'll have to change your bandages three times a day for the next two weeks!" Tomada whispered in a soft tone. He rubbed some more tree sap on her stomach, and massaged it lightly on her body. Soothing the pain, enough for her to stop biting his wing and flinch in pain.

"Sorry if that hurt!" She apologised sadly, while turning away from him.

"Think nothing of it! You're the one who needs the medical attention here!" He quickly put the new leaves on the wound and wrapped the vines back around again. Making sure that they were tied firmly enough to keep them on. "Okay, is that too tight for you?"

"A little…" She winced in pain, feeling like she was restricted a little tightly.

"Ohhh sorry about that! How is…this?" He loosened the vine a little more, but only just a little bit.

"That's okay! I can get used to it!" Sorrel beamed with a warm smile, as he sat back down opposite her. Smiling at her warmly himself.

"Okay…so what do you remember in the last few hours?" Tomada asked in a calm tone, and he sat down in the nest opposite her. She didn't mind it now, because as he reminded her of their previous conversation, she became a little more comfortable with the situation.

"Ummm…all I remember was being attacked by a large bird, then me passing out…and I always wake up back here? I don't really remember anything else? Can you catch me up on what I don't remember?" She asked with a smile, and looked at her saviour. Who nodded his head in agreement.

After Tomada had explained what he had said nearly once or twice already, Sorrel just widened her eyes and her jaw dropped. She was completely taken by surprise that Tomada had saved her life. And now that she can't remember anything, it just made her feel even more embarrassed about all of this.

"Oh my gosh…I'm so sorry Tomada! If I had known you went through all this trouble for me…I…I wouldn't have assumed…"

"It's okay Sorrel…it's not your fault that you temporarily can't remember anything! But that's exactly what I'm here for! I'll be here every step of the way until it all comes flowing back to you! I promise!" Tomada sweetly responded as he took the huge bit of bark that he tore off of the tree. And he put it in the middle of the nest. Separating two sides of the huge nest.

"Ummmm…watcha doing there Tomada?" The blue spix's female asked in curiosity, feeling like he was putting this divider up to avoid looking at her. "Do I make you feel uncomfortable?" She asked sadly, lowering her head.

"What? No of course not! You don't make me feel uncomfortable at all Sorrel! But before you lost your short term memory of what happened, we talked about this, and you wanted it for privacy!"

"But what if I needed you in the middle of the night?"

"You…would need me?" The falcon rose his eyebrow, as she just giggled and nodded her head as a yes.

"Well yes? If I am in any pain, I might need you to tend to me! Or if I'm hungry or thirsty?" Sorrel kept listing reasons why not to use a divider. And after a few of them ended up being good points, Tomada dropped the divider out the hollow entrance.

"That's alright, we don't have to use one! I thought that maybe you could do with some privacy or something…"

"Privacy? For what exactly?"

"Ummmm…if you wanted to wash yourself? Want some alone time? When you are feeling a little…" Tomada was about to finish his sentence…but his brain quickly caught up with him, and he realised that it wasn't exactly the most appropriate thing to say to his guest. "A little stressed from the pain! But if you feel like you don't want it, then it is understandable!"

"We don't need one Tomada! And don't worry! I will try and focus my attention on my thoughts, and try to remember what we spoke about!" Sorrel beamed with a warm smile, while admiring the physique his body was in. "You have quite a strong body by the way!"

"Oh…th-thank you!" The peregrine falcon stuttered nervously, and he managed to blush a very bright red. But he quickly lifted his wing up to hide his face.

This of course caused Sorrel to giggle in amusement.

"Hehehe! Anyway…I am feeling quite tired! Do you mind if I have a nap?" Sorrel asked politely as she got into a comfy position.

"Sure, I'll just leave you to it!" Tomada spoke as he started to get up and walk away from her, but before he left, she quickly glanced at him.

"Actually…"

"Yes?" He turned around and looked curiously at her smiling face. "Anything you need?"

"Actually…don't worry! It's stupid!" Sorrel replied in embarrassment, and turned away to face the wall.

"Actually what?" Tomada responded as he approached the nest.

"No it's okay! I was going to ask something, but it's a stupid thing to ask for!"

"No seriously! What was it you wanted to ask me?" He was very eager to know what Sorrel was going to ask of him. Especially since he was going to be at every beckoning call for her since she was staying with him.

"Okay…so you mind if…you…you sleep with me?" Sorrel asked a little awkwardly, and twiddled her wingtips nervously.

"Oh…you mean…like, sleeping next to you?" The peregrine falcon replied with a slight chuckle, and felt a slight blush coming.

"See! I told you that it was an incredibly stupid thing to ask you! Sorry…I shouldn't have mentioned anything!" Sorrel spoke in an annoyed and saddened tone. She turned away from him once again, and faced the wall.

Tomada was a little surprised by the question, but a small part of him had the urge to sleep with her. But he had no idea why.

"Ummm…S-S-Sure?"

Tomada took a second to think about this, and as Sorrel scooted over to make a little room, she patted a spot next to her. "Come on in! I won't bite! I hope you won't either?"

"N-N-No! Of course not!" Tomada stuttered nervously and crawled into the nest. Laying down next to her. But what made things really awkward for him, was the fact that Sorrel began snuggling her head on his chest. Which made him chuckle in nervousness. "Wow…you ummm…have a soft neck!"

"Hehehe thank you! I do tend to moisturise now and again!" Sorrel replied and sighed in relaxation, as she laid back and closed her eyes. "Thank you Tomada…"

The blue spix's female instantly fell asleep, due to the fact that she was still very woozy from the pain in her stomach.

Tomada just wrapped his wing around her to keep her warm. And as he just laid there in the nest with her…he just couldn't help himself but just look down at her and watch her peacefully sleep.

His eyes were focused on her face…and his heartbeat started to beat a little faster. What was this strange feeling that was going on inside of his chest? What was weird about this…was the fact that he believes that he always wanted to save innocent birds from any danger.

"Sleep well Sorrel! Don't worry! I am sure that…" Suddenly, Sorrel accidentally brushed a wing up against his crotch…and he suddenly tensed at the feeling. Because he was a little shocked by this moment…but he wasn't exactly unhappy about it. "Well…this is new?" He thought to himself, as he felt a warm sensation in his chest.

Three Hours Later…

It was drifting late into the afternoon here in the Amazon, and life was buzzing with excitement and joy. As this was usually the time of day where the many locals would be flying through the breeze, avoiding the dangers that lurked within. Not to mention trying to avoid the many predators that wanted to catch their late lunches.

But for one particular bird…of course you would expect…a kind of…well…it was kind of like a…

"AHHHHHHHHHH! FALCON! FALCON!" Once again the blue female immediately screamed in terror, trying to back away into the back of the nest.

Tomada immediately shot his eyes wide open and he quickly jumped to his feet to calm her down the best he could. "Please! Stop screaming Sorrel! You lost your memory again! So please calm down so I can remind you of what you need to remember!"

"I know, I'm just kidding! You should have seen the look on your face!" Sorrel burst into laughter while clutching her stomach in pain.

Tomada placed a wing on his heart and rapidly breathed in and out in relief, as he was glad that she remembered him well. "Please don't do that Sorrel! You scared the living shit out of me!"

"Sorry! I just thought I'd lighten the mood? After all you have done so much for me!" Sorrel sadly replied and looked down at her talons in defeat. She only wanted to play a little practical joke on him. But because she is having difficulty with her memory sometimes, her new falcon friend was obviously a little bit annoyed…but he decided not to show it to avoid being rude to her.

"Well…that was a believable thing…so I suppose it was a great joke!" He spoke with a warm smile, and she instantly looked up with that same smile.

"So…why don't you tell me a little bit about yourself Tomada?" Sorrel asked politely as she sat back up in the nest.

"Me? Sure!" The falcon too sat back up and crossed his talons, while giving her a cheeky grin. "So I was obviously born and raised in the Amazon! Ummm…my parents raised me for a good few years before making me independent to follow my own choices and desires in life! I…spent the last few years on my own…" Tomada wad listing a lot of brief things about him, just to make sure that she was paying attention to what he was saying. And luckily fir him, she sat there mouthing some of the words and really listening…she was really into it.

"I'm sorry you had to spend a fair amount of time on your own!" She softly muttered and placed a soft comforting wing on his shoulder.

"It's okay…it was a little tough at first, because I didn't really understand what I needed to do with my life…but I think after saving you today…I feel like I made the best decision of my life!" As the peregrine falcon said this, Sorrel immediately started blushing and his behind her wing, giggling in a cute way. That sounded so seductive, it also made him blush just from saying it. "So…ummm…I…I…I made a promise! That no matter what happens, I will never kill an innocent bird in my life! And I still have never done that to this day!"

"Wow! You have such a strong and powerful past! I wish mind was like that!" Sorrel murmured sadly, as she just dried her face with her wings.

"What do you mean? What happened in your past Sorrel?" Tomada asked in a smooth tone, as he scooted a little closer to her.

"You do not want to know about my past Tomada…trust me…you do not want to know anything about my past at all!" Sorrel sadly spoke, wiping away a few tears that rolled down her cheeks.

"Well hey now…You never know? I might like to know about your past?" Tomada sweetly responded as he used his talon to wipe away a few of her tears. Which made her smile a little, because had she never felt this taken care of by anyone before.

"Do you really want me to tell you everything?"

"Of course! It will be our little secret!" He stuck a little wingtip out to shake with hers…but she just cocked her head to the side in confusion. Staring at his wingtip with a blank expression.

"What is that you are doing with your wingtip?"

"Oh, this?" He asked while wiggling his wingtip. "This is just a little something called a pinky swear! I do it more with talons, but with wingtips it is also very doable! Shall I show you how to do it?"

"Yes please! Oooh, this is exciting!" Sorrel beamed with a cheery grin, clapping her wings before scooting a little closer to him. "Okay, so how does it work?"

"Okay, so you stick your small wingtip out like this!" Tomada and Sorrel wrapped their wingtips around each other's and he then smiled at her warmly. "Then we shake them!"

"Oooh, so…like this?"

Sorrel slowly shook his wingtip up and down, and he nodded his head in agreement.

"Perfecto! Now…you have to say what you are pinky swearing! So…I swear, that I will not share your last story with anyone, and I will keep this story close to my chest!"

"Ohhh I see! So…Okay…I got one! I swear that I will be honest with you, because of how caring you have been towards me!"

"That's it! Now…please tell me everything!" Tomada sat down opposite of her again, and rested his chin on his wings to get into a comfy position.

The blue spix's female cleared her throat, and proceeded to tell him about her troubled past. Because now that she made a promise to him, she feels like she can now trust him to talk about her past.

"So…I was born in a separate part of the Amazon…however, I was born into the tribe like every other blue spix's macaw was!"

"So hang on a second? If you were born in the tribe, how did you end up being on your own? Sorry for interrupting!" Tomada apologised as he lifted his wing up.

"That's okay, no need to say sorry! To answer your question, I was born into the tribe, but unfortunately my parents decided to leave the tribe after a few years of me being born! So I was left all alone in the tribe with birds who I barely knew!"

"Oh jeez…that must have been a really difficult time for you? I am so sorry that you had to deal with that at such a young age!"

"Thank you, I appreciate that! So anyway, one day I thought that enough was enough! So I went to go and look for them! Even though I was just a small defenceless chick! But one day when I flew a little too far away from the tribe, I ended up being somewhere completely different! And I didn't recognise where I was at all!" Sorrel sadly continued, while lowering her eyesight only a little bit.

"So…then what happened?" Tomada asked curiously, as the falcon was really enjoying getting to know about Sorrel's past.

"I thought if I had kept flying back in the same direction, I would be able to find my home again! So I did just that, and flew all the way back the way I just came! But…then it all went to shit in the end!" The blue female cursed, and threw a stick at the wall.

"What happened?!"

"The loggers came Tomada! The humans! They came with their…fire! Their…machines! Their…nature killers!" Sorrel angrily growled before bashing the side of the nest, only to feel a jolt of pain hit her stomach. "Ooooh…owww!"

"Easy! Easy there Sorrel…you know what? I think that's enough story telling for now! Even though I do believe that what happened to you would have been scary for anybody!" Tomada responded as he began changing her bandages again.

"I'm sorry Tomada! I would have been calm…"

"Never apologise Sorrel…you hear me?" The falcon spoke in a clear tone, and shushed her with his wingtip. "Those humans are animals! Just because they are top of the food chain, they think they can take our lives away! But you know what? I'm actually thinking that it was a good thing that you managed to survive!"

"Really?"

"Of course? That would have meant that I never would have me the lovely female I see right now!" Tomada spoke while looking down at her wing. Only to pause when he realised he just said something a little awkward.

"Oh! Hehehehe!" Sorrel blushed again and hid behind her wing, as the male falcon finally finished replacing the bandages.

After a few seconds had passed by, he stood up quickly and took a strong pose. Before pointing towards the hollow exit. "So…ummmm…I better…get some food!" He thought to himself as he turned away awkwardly, only to walk straight into the wall. "Ooof! I'm okay! I'm okay!" He shook his head a couple of times and left the hollow once more. Leaving a very confused female blue macaw alone.

"Huh…Lovely? Well now…this is…unique?"

Very unique indeed! So I know this wasn't an exciting chapter, but don't worry, from the next chapter onwards we will be skipping time ahead where we start to see their friendship grow. And more things will happen as the story goes on! Once again I apologise for the late update. But I've been fairly busy the last few days! But I will try and post chapters more frequently! So I will see you all for the next chapter!
