Essie was in her room when she got the first text. At first she was going to ignore it, but it was Valentines Day and she was lonely. So she took a look at it.
Hey there.
It was simple, so she decided to reply.
Sorry you have the wrong number.
She put her phone away and went to go get ready for work. She hated working on these romantic holidays. It just rubbed it in how lonely she was. She worked at her family's candy shop, and at a bar as a bartender. And at the shop, they were selling flowers for Valentines Day.
She felt her phone vibrate, and so when she got outside to her car, she pulled her phone out. She looked at the new message, it was from the same unknown number.
I was bored and thought that I would text someone new and hope it was a woman. Was I correct?
Essie grinned and felt that this could be some harmless fun on this boring holiday.
Yes, I am female... At least I think so. The last time I checked I was.
She got into her car and drove to work. She heard her phone go off, but she ignored it as she didn't text and drive. So when she parked her car, she then pulled her phone out to look at the text.
Hahaha. A girl with a sense of humor I like it. What's your name?
She found a goofy grin come to her face as she read the text. Still not knowing of the danger that she was putting herself into, she once more texted back.
I'm Essie, and I'm twenty-four. Wbu?
Even though he didn't ask her age, she figured he would, and hoped he wasn't either younger then her, or an old creeper. So she went a head and put her age in. She went in and started on opening the shop for the start of Valentines Day rush.
She started getting things started on to start making things for the day for the cooks. She then even started an order for the drinks for the employees. Something her family did for everyone who worked early in the mornings. Smoothies or coffees.
She got everything looking all nice for the opening, and that all the online orders for the holidays was ready to be made when they were to be picked up. She welcomed the cooks of the treats and told them the orders that have been put in to be picked up first before telling them the most popular items to make extra of for the day.
She then looked at her phone and smiled. He secret texter responded.
Kylo. And I'm thirty. What do you look like? So I know how to imagine you. I have dark hair, I'm 6'2, and I have brown eyes. I also have a muscular build.
Kylo? Didn't really sound like a real name. Maybe a made up name he uses cause he hates his actual name. She went ahead and told him about herself. What she looked like, but didn't send a picture. She told him how much she hated working on Valentines Day, cause she has never been in a relationship before.
She didn't think he was around to find her, but just someone who was alone and wanted a friend just like her. So she enjoyed texting him.
Soon it became playful and flirty. And with the fact that it was on Valentines Days, it made her feel better. It made her feel noticed in a way.
She just wished that looking at this from the horror she was in now... She wished she had blocked the number when it first appeared on her phone
