It didn't take long to make their way back to the clan village. As they rode through the entrance there was an entourage of people waiting for them.
"Uduak! Oh thank all the deities you are safe" Uduak's mother said as she enveloped him into a tight hug the second he was off the horse, paying no attention to his injuries. Link let Epona walk herself back to the stables once again proving just how weirdly smart the horse was. The crowd of people that were fussing over the two men soon parted as Kagami made his way towards Uduak and Link.
"Uduak, I am overjoyed to see our best blacksmith is still standing, although you should go and get your wounds properly looked after" he spoke in a warm tone as he held Uduak's shoulder. He turned to Link next and spoke more professionally and calmly.
"Link you've once again proven yourself to me and the rest of the clan, but there is something I must discuss with you in the hall" immediately after speaking Kagami turned and began walking back towards the hall with Link following him quickly albeit with a confused look on his face. Once in the hall, Kagami walked through the council meeting room and into his office sitting at his desk with Link sitting opposite him.
"We have been invited to the princesses birthday" Kagami spoke quietly and softly, Link had long ago been told the story of his family and what the royal family or more accurately what Rhoam had done and because of this Link didn't exactly like them.
"What do you mean?" Link asked, pulling a scrunched up face.
"The Uchiha clan have begun trading with central Hyrule and have been given an invitation to go to the princesses party, many other influential people will be going and I want you to go with me" Kagami spoke resolutely. Many emotions passed over Link's face before he spoke again.
"Ok I can understand all of that except the last part, why would you want me to go with you?" Link was severely confused but also quite curious about Kagami's thought process.
"Let's not beat around the bush, eventually you will become the leader of this party will give you an opportunity to make connections and allies and also it will be a step to somewhat coming to accept the royal family" Kagami spoke with pride in his voice, never breaking eye contact. Link couldn't knock the man's logic as annoying as it was.
"Will I have to wear something in particular when we go to this shit show?" Link asked after heaving out a sigh of acceptance. HIs question caused a large grin to spread on Kagami's face.
"I myself am going to be wearing my usual clothes, but also a robe with the uchiha symbol, I was thinking you could wear your tribe's formal clothing which you will find to be to your liking" Kagami spoke proudly with a sort of sadistic grin putting Link on edge. Link left the hall slightly confused and worried. The second Link stepped out, an arm was thrown around him as a recognisable voice filled his ears.
"Link, my man! I heard about what you did from Uduak and once again you prove why we are best friends" This was Midas, Link's best friend. Midas excelled in ranged combat and constantly likes to prove that he is a better archer than Link whilst Link always reminds him that it is the only thing he beats him at. Midas had been the person to drag Link out of his depression when he first moved in with the clan, eventually they became somewhat rivals, always pushing one another to do better.
"Yeah yeah, the only reason you stick around is because I'm always the one that has to save your ass when you end up doing something dumb" Link spoke back with a smirk on his face.
"You wound me dear friend." Midas began theatrically only to stop when a pretty girl walked by catching his attention immediately. Link at first was confused but once he saw what or who Midas was looking at he sighed letting out a small chuckle at his friend.
"Really Midas? What happened to the last girl?" Link asked, grinning at his friend.
"She had to be let go, turns out her father is quite the fighter" Midas said almost wistfully causing Link to burst into laughter.
"Anyway, Link, how do you fancy going to a party to celebrate Uduak's return" before Link could even begin to speak Midas cut him off. "Good I knew you would want to". Midas spoke jovially as he began dragging Link off into the direction of the party.
"So let me get this straight, YOU! Link, the biggest anti-royal family person to ever exist is going to the princesses birthday party" it was a couple of hours into the party and Link and Midas were sitting down. They were in a rather large house sitting on the couches away from the rest of the party. Both of them were pretty drunk and both were accompanied by a woman. Link laughed at Midas' statement before responding.
"Ask Kagami, he's the one that wants me to go", Midas seemed to accept the answer as he took another swig of the drink.
"Wait, isn't that party tomorrow?" The girl sat next to Midas asked, with a confused look on her face.
"Oh yeah, I remember my dad talking about that, it is tomorrow" the girl sat with Link chimed in cheerfully, Midas burst into laughter startling the two girls and some people that were walking by them as Link grumbled to himself.
"That old bastard, he knew what he was doing" Link muttered before downing the rest of his drink. "I should head off then since I have to leave tomorrow and have no clue what time I'll need to be awake for" Midas nodded towards him as Link and the girl left.
"LINK!". Link burst out of bed breathing heavily looking around for any danger, only to find Kagami standing at the foot of his bed smirking at him. The girl that Link had fallen asleep next to the night before was no longer there either.
"Don't worry I sent her home safely. Now here's your clothes for the party, don't take too long to get ready" with that Kagami dumped a box on the end of Link's bed before leaving the room. Link got up and opened up the box, quite curious what Kagami had meant by "your tribe's formal clothing". Once fully dressed Link admired himself in his mirror. He had a large almost demonic skull on his head with two long horns sticking out of either side, he had two shoulder pads of sorts ,lined with animal fur, that went around his chest. His toned stomach was left out in the open as were his arms. He had shorts and boots of similar design to his chest covering. A man had come in as well to add the finishing touches which were tribal tattoos drawn down his face and body in red ink giving it the look of blood. With that all done Link left his house and stepped into the carriage that Kagami had gotten into.
The whole ride to the Hyrule castle was spent by Kagami trying to teach Link manners for when he had to speak to other people. Link merely nodded along knowing for a fact that the only people he showed respect to would be the ones he deemed worthy. Stepping out of the carriage, Link was surprised by the sheer number of people that were also going to the party, him and Kagami were sent weird looks as many people moved out of Link's way, which amused him to no end. After being given the ok from the Royal guards at the door Link and Kagami entered the massive ball room, at the end of the room was a long table where all of the royals sat, the rest of the room was nearly packed full with people.
"Come on Link, everyone who arrives has to go and greet the royal family and give their wishes" Kagami said under his breath as he practically dragged Link to the front of the room. By the time they reached the front of the room everyone was looking at them, they were the most eye-catching people in the room except maybe the royal family themselves. Rhoam couldn't shake the feeling of deja vu when he saw the young man covered in bones and what looked to be blood approached him and his family. He heard his wife take a deep gasp when she saw the young man, Rhoam turned wondering what his daughter's reaction would be. She looked rather scared, but had a curious glint in her eyes that she usually gains whenever she is given a new puzzle.
"What are your names?, tell us about yourselves" Rhoam spoke politely and loudly. Link wanted to mutter something about this seeming more like an interview than a greeting but held back.
"My name is Kagami Uchiha from the uchiha clan of the sheikah tribe, we have recently begun trading with many people from this city." He spoke with a polite and welcoming smile on his face as he looked towards the King and Queen, before he turned to the princess, "My best wishes for your birthday princess and the rest of your family" Kagami finished this by giving a bow to the royal family, who all had smiles on their faces. There wasn't much of a reaction in the crowd except for gasps at the mention of the sheikah tribe. They all turned to link next.
"And you boy, what of yourself?" the queen asked in a snooty tone which instantaneously managed to piss Link off. Letting out a loud sight that everyone heard. Meeting the Queens eyes, Link spoke.
"My name is Link Uchiha, I am the strongest warrior of the Uchiha clan and next in line to lead, think of me as his protege" Link spoke loudly and quickly without an ounce of respect, before adding on "Oh yeah, happy birthday Zelda, that is your name right?" Link added on at the end posing the question towards the stunned girl. All of sudden the ball room erupted into outrage about how disrespectful the boy was. The queen was sputtering in shock as Zelda's eyes and mouth had widened, although she was also quite amused at how unfazed the boy was at everyone's reaction. All of a sudden the king burst into laughter silencing everyone once again.
"You have guts boy, to disrespect my family like that in front of me. You say you are a warrior and the strongest of your clan at that?, and how strong is that?" Rhoam asked with genuine curiosity, staring down at the boy. Kagami was also staring at Link, intently, curious to how Link would handle the situation, many others doing the same.
"I could fight one of your royal guards? Or are they not that strong? I could fight you?, honestly I'd fight anyone in this room, you choose" Link spoke calmly, he wasn't cocky he was just confident in his abilities and knew how strong he was. Many people's eyebrows rose at that remark. To Zelda this was the most entertaining thing ever, this boy had the gall to challenge her father to fight in his own castle? What's more, the boy looked ready to fight at a moment's notice. Once again Rhoam laughed loudly before speaking.
"Technically that is treason, to challenge me to fight. Since it is your birthday Zelda, why don't you choose who this young man fights?" Zelda was caught off guard, not expecting to be dragged back into this. She said the first person who came to mind.
"Why not Lady Impa?" she asked looking up at said woman who was standing behind her. Impa looked shocked for a second before dropping to her knee and speaking.
"If that is what you wish My lady". Soon enough a small ring was made in the ball room as everyone gathered around with drinks, excited to see the disrespectful boy get put in his place by one of the most dangerous women in the kingdom. Impa was a great fighter and everyone knew this. Zelda looked extremely worried, but also as excited as everyone else.
"Ok, fight until the other has yielded or cna no longer fight and no killing, obviously" Rhoam spoke clearly before signalling the start of the fight. Link had been given a kunai as had Impa. Link lunged across the ring at Impa, She began effortlessly deflecting his blows. Link kept up the offensive , never slowing or stopping, trying different attacks of angles. After a while he took a step back and stopped fighting. Impa took this as her chance to finally start attacking, throwing slashes and swipes at the boy in a flurry of movement. Link dodged and deflected, but only barely.
"She clearly outmatches him, although I have to admit he is quite good albeit a bit eager" A regal feminime voice in the back of the crowd spoke.
"I wouldn't count him out just yet my lady" Another voice responded quite confidently.
Impa was mid swing when all of a sudden the boy burst into motion with speeds he hadn't shown at all during the fight. She was going for a diagonal swing from the top right when all of a sudden the boy had bobbed underneath it and struck out with his own kunai catching her in the cheek sending blood flying out. Impa hissed violently as she dodged backwards to escape any possible follow up attacks. Nearly everyone in the room was in shock, the boy had gone from barely being able to defend to all of a sudden making Impa bleed. Zelda looked on at her personal guard and dear friend in worry as she saw the blood, whilst Rhoam sat forward starting to gain more interest in the fight.
Link began circling Impa, like a wolf and an injured rabbit. Up until this point in the fight all he had been doing is testing Impa. He surged forward before she could even blink and threw a top roundhouse kick to Impa's head that she barely managed to lean out of the way of. This was followed up with a jab to the face and a slice to the stomach which both managed to land consecutively causing Impa to wobble backwards slightly. Everyone was silent as they intensely watched the fight, not quite believing the speeds Link had just shown. The cut on Impa's face was only worsened by the jab as blood was now pouring freely down her face. Impa leaped backwards before she took up a stance and breathed in and out slowly as a blue aura started glowing and flowing around her body. Kagami took a sharp breathe in, this was chakra, only people of the sheikah tribe could utilise it, he should have known that the woman would go this far against Link, she probably had a grudge against the uchiha and was going to take it out on someone who had nothing to do with it. Kagami wasn't worried for Link, not at all, LInk could handle this easily, no he was just annoyed at the woman for going this far. Had it been anyone other than Link fighting the woman they would most likely never even hope to be able to keep up with her.
Link noticided the difference immediately, he had trained against his clan members even with them using chakra. He smirked as he flew towards Impa again, yet somehow he had gotten even faster, he could feel something akin to adrenaline surge through his veins as he jumped and went to knee Impa in the face, however in her enhanced state she managed to block in time and was only sent skidding back across the ring. She lunged towards Link immediately and went for a low kick to sweep him off his feet, Link jumped simultaneously dodging the attack and sent a back kick to Impa's face that she voluntarily ran into because of her own charge attack. Impa was sent flying to the other end of the arena and landed on her back, Link threw himself on top of her pinning her to the floor and placed his blade to her neck.
"Yield" was all he said as he stared deep into her eyes. Impa wanted to continue fighting, but eventually nodded and spoke.
"I yield"
