Link had barely got any sleep after waking up from the strange dream, he couldn't stop thinking about it, although by now it was apparent that they were more than strange dreams. He was looking through the eyes of an old Ruiken leader named Kishin from what he learnt. Was this something that happened to other Ruikenians? It's not really like he could go ask one. At least the visions were slowly revealing information to him.
He had gotten up and decided to dress in the same outfit he had worn to the party, but without the markings on, they were a pain in the ass to put on so he just went without. The same carriage from before had also been prepared, however this time the horses pulling it were Epona and Midas' horse, they were the fastest and considering how far the colosseum was they would need them. Before long Link and Midas were off, waving goodbye to the villages that had come to see them off. Many people wished them luck in the fights and the travels.
"Well, this should be fun, you better put on a show" Midas joked from the seat opposite Link's, who chuckled before replying.
"Oh it'll be a show" Link said as he grinned widely at Midas.
"The boy has left my King," a man in white robes said, kneeling before the King who sat on his throne. The Queen, Zelda and Impa had gone to visit Zora's domain for the day so they were nowhere in sight.
"Well done, you may rest until I call for you" Rhoam said with a wave of his hand, sending the spy away. The King rose from his seat and began making his way out of the throne room and down the many corridors and hallways. Eventually the King found the large double doors that lead to the basement. He made his way into the dark and damp basement. In the middle of the room was a large circular table on which was about five candles all lining the edge of the table. In the middle of the table was a pentagram created from dried up blood. Rhoam approached the table with a vial of blood that he then used to redraw the pentagram with, before pouring the rest into the middle. He began chanting in a tongue that was undecipherable before, shouting out normally.
"Demon King Demise, here my plea, I have no other option, I offer you my daughter's soul, the reincarnation of the goddess Hylia, for now her blood will have to suffice. For this, I wish for you to kill my greatest fear and enemy, take my body as a vessel!" Rhoam threw out his arms in a sign of surrender. For a couple of seconds, nothing happened until all of a sudden the air became stifled as the pentagon began glowing red and the candles flames burst with life. A deep sinister chuckle echoed around the room and it was the last thing Rhoam heard before he forced onto his knees as he began heaving and retching in pain, the laughter continued and gained volume the more Rhoam choked on nothing. It wasn't long before the coughing stopped as Rhoam began to echo the laugh with a voice that didn't belong to him. His head felt like it had been forcibly split into two. There was a loud bang and Rhoam promptly passed out.
Demise rose from where Rhoam had passed out, finally having succeeded in taking over his body and mind. Instantly he began plotting, he would need souls to gain strength before he fulfilled his part of the deal. Having gained all of Rhoam's memories he now understood why the man was so desperate. It turns out Zelda wasn't the only one to discover the old tale of the fierce deity and how the ruiken tribe have the power to reincarnate him. During the week-long war, the council had brought this legend to Rhoams attention, naturally it scared them all, especially after looking at how powerful Kharmerr was. Rhoam had learnt that Kharmerr was planning to take down the Sheikah tyrant, Madara, with this in mind Rhoam took his entire army and threw them at Kharmerr and his limited army. He hoped the days of fighting both Madara and then his army would leave him weak enough that he could defeat him in a duel.
To demises surprise Rhoam's cowardly plan had worked and he had bested Kharmerr, although he still lost an arm in the process causing Demise to chuckle as he watched the man's memories. So now in fear that this one ruikenian boy is the reincarnation of the wrathful god the King had called upon him, the Demon King Demise. Demise slowly made his way to the throne room as he planned, he would attack and decimate the Uchiha clan, use their souls to regain some of his lost strength and begin his reign of chaos.
The carriage had managed to keep up a good pace throughout the journey due to combined efforts of Epona and Maximus, Midas' horse.
"How much further do we have to go? This is taking fucking forever" Midas grumbled to himself, frowning.
"Not much longer, look we're entering the canyon that leads to Gerudo desert and the city now" the driver spoke from the front seat into the carriage behind him. Midas seemed to sigh thankfully that they wouldn't have to be travelling much further, but froze mid sigh as both him and Link's eyes widened as sweat seemed to instantaneously form on their forehead.
"What the fuck?" Link said out loud scrunching up his face in confusion, wondering if this was possibly some sort of attack.
"Don't worry sir, that's just the Gerudo heat hitting you, it'll take awhile for you to get used to it" the driver spoke again. Midas and Link somewhat calmed down at the answer, although they were both still sweltering under the heat. They passed through the canyon slowly, any faster and they would hit the sides and harm the carriage. They drove past a stable gaining looks from all the different people travelling to and from the stable. Gerudo city would be getting more visitors in the next week than any other time, this was due to the tournament at the colosseum, it was the one time in a year that any and all visitors were welcome within the city including men.
There was a small sandy trail from the exit of the canyon that led all the way through the kara kara bazaar and up to the grand and exotic entrance of Gerudo city. As they pulled up to the entrance a guard stopped them and walked over to the carriage window.
"name and reason for being here?" The woman said it with such a tired voice that it showed she had had to ask this over a thousand times, the woman didn't even bother looking up from her spear that she was cleaning.
"Link Uchiha of Ruiken" Link spoke calmly. The gerudo woman's eyes widened as she snapped her head up to look at him. Link leaned back in shock at the woman's reaction, Midas just raised an eyebrow as he watched the interaction.
"I'm really sorry for my behavior sir, you are on the VIP list, if you would allow me to escort you through the city to the hotel you will be staying at" The woman spoke quickly and reverently, Link nodded at her request. The woman walked to the front of the carriage and signalled for another guard to take her post as she began leading the carriage through the yellow roads of Gerudo city. Link fanned his face as he looked out the window, watching the many stalls, bars, restaurants and many other shops.
"What the hell was that about? Was that because you are going to be fighting in the colosseum?" Midas asked, questioning the way the guard acted. Link merely shrugged at Midas, too tired from the heat to properly answer his question. It took about fifteen minutes for them to reach the hotel that they would be staying at. It was a grand building, coloured gold and many other extravagant colours. Link and Midas stepped out of the carriage and fully into the Gerudo sun. Noticing the two mens difficulty in the sun, the guard grabbed their belongings and walked them into the hotel.
Instantly both men sighed, the hotel was a cool reprieve from the unrelenting heat outside. The guard walked over to the reception and checked them in before handing over their bags to another woman who Link guessed worked here.
"You've been checked in and your bags are being brought up to your rooms and here is your key, I hope you enjoy your stay in our city" The woman seemed out of breath as she said everything. Link wouldn't be surprised if the woman was after she had just run around after them. They both nodded to the woman and took the keys before they said their thanks as she left the hotel, after checking the room number both Midas and Link went to find their rooms. It didn't take too long to find it despite the many corridors, using the key they entered. The room was massive, both mens eyes widened as they walked around, there were two king sized beds in the main room that had a rather large balcony. They also had a large ensuite and two large wardrobes.
"This is next level luxury, man who do they think you are?" Midas said in awe of the room, collapsing onto a bed that had all of his bags on.
"I'm not sure, but that Ganondorf guy I met was really excited to see me since I'm from the Ruiken tribe" Link replied, equally awed at the room as he stared out of the balcony. After unpacking and lying down, attempting to regain their lost energy. Link and Midas' rest was interrupted by a knock on the door, Link slowly got out of bed whilst stretching. Opening the door Link came face to face with the gerudo women that had helped take their bags upstairs.
"I'm sorry to disturb you sir, I just wanted to let you know that the swimming pool is now open" The woman gave a small tilt of her head as she spoke, similar to a bow. Giving his thanks Link shut the door again and looked back into the room to see that Midas was still asleep, letting out rather loud snores. Link wrote a note letting Midas know he would be at the pool before he departed from his room and began making his way downstairs in nothing but his shorts. The pool was near the back of the hotel just next to the bar/lounge area. There was a band playing as a few people were sitting around drinking and just relaxing. Link gave a nod to a few people that looked his way, but headed straight for the pool. Just as he reached the pool someone splashed out of the deep end, shaking their head to get the water out of their eyes.
"Link, I didn't expect to see you here!" the voice shouted over to him, Link squinted at the person, trying to figure out who it was before his eyes widened and he shouted back a reply.
"Losos, right?" Link shouted back. The zora man grinned back widely nodding before he seemed to fly through the water towards Link, He stopped a couple metres away from him.
"It's great to see you again my friend, can I assume that you are here to fight in the colosseum?" Losos asked politely. Link grinned and nodded before speaking.
"Of course I am, How's everything going at zora's domain? Is the Queen ok?" Link said excitedly, glad to see a familiar face no matter how little he knew Losos.
"Yes, everything has been fine thank you and Queen Rutela has been fine as well thank you" Losos answered happily. Inwardly Link was glad to finally have a name to go with the zora Queen. Link and Losos had talked for a while as they swam lengths of the pool, even racing at some point. After a long while Midas had joined them and after introducing them the two got on well. Eventually they had begun going in every now and then to get some drinks and then go back out to the pool to drink them as the day slowly turned to night.
After a while they started a drinking game as they began doing shots as the rest of the bar cheered them on. More and more people began joining them and before long they had practically started a pool party. Link was sitting down on a stool by the bar when Midas came stumbling up to him with his arm around an equally drunk gerudo woman.
"Link my friend, it has been fun, but I must leave, oh and if you could maybe not come up to the room until after say… two hours max" Midas winked before practically running off with the girl.
"Two hours? He'll last two minutes max" Link said, chuckling under his breath. Downing the rest of his drink Link stood up and made his way over to the waitress that was standing behind the table wiping down mugs.
"What can I get to eat if you don't mind me asking?" Link said, trying to seem polite and sophisticated, by the looks of it, it seemed to amuse the woman as she smirked before answering.
"Well, good sir, we have some fruit and nuts, that's about it really" The woman spoke in an overly posh tone, clearly mocking Links attempt at being sophisticated.
"Fair enough, in that case I shall just have some fruit, my fair lady" Link chuckled before, replying in the same voice causing them both to burst out laughing. The woman handed over a plate with a couple of slices of hydromelon and another drink. It didn't take too much longer before Link blacked out, he couldn't quite remember anything else from the rest of that night except from glimpses of him and the woman joking and flirting with one another.
It didn't take Link long to realise he was having another one of those weird visions, as he was once again looking through Kishin's eyes. He was looking into a mirror, giving Link his first real look at the man. The resemblance between them was uncanny, this Kishin guy must have been a blood relative to Link. The man had the same facial features and shape, however his hair colour and eyes were different, whilst Link's hair was sandy blonde, Kishin's was ashen white as were his eyes. The man somehow looked both angelic and demonic at the same time.
"The enemy approaches Link!" Kishin screamed into the mirror as his eyes seemed to gain an ethereal glow. Link burst out of his sleep, instantly awake, spinning and punching out before he could even control his body. He felt a connection and watched a gerudo guard go flying across the room. Link finally seemed to fully wake up as he took in his surroundings. He was still in the bar, but by the sunlight creeping in through the window it was now morning, he must have fallen asleep on the stool. In the room was a whole entourage of gerudo guards and standing in the middle of them was Ganondorf. Fearing the worst, Link began channeling as much chakra into his belly as he could before he was cut off by Ganondorf.
"Do not worry, we merely wished to wake you, I should have expected this reaction" he spoke calmly with a small welcoming smile on his face as he held his hands up in surrender, his guards following suit. It was then that Link realised they had no weapons, he let out a sigh as he dropped his attack before anyone even realised he had it raised.
"I'm sorry, I just expected the worst" Link spoke calmly and sent an apologetic look towards the woman he had punched, who just grinned back.
"Please, you have no reason to apologise, I am at fault, I was just so excited that you had finally arrived and wanted to come visit and wish you luck before the tournament starts. I see you have gotten on well here so far" Ganaondorf said with a grin on his face, Link grinned back.
"I appreciate the sentiment and can't wait to put on a show for you and yes I've enjoyed it here so far, but if you'll excuse me I need to go and wake my womaniser of a friend up" Link jokes as shook hands with Ganondorf before he started making his way to the stairs and towards his room.
