Episode 4: Steven Floats
While the Gems and Monks were playing their baseball game with the Homeworld Rubies, Jack was finishing up his packing and was ready to formally leave the Heylin. Chase could only watch helplessly as Jack finishes packing up his stuff. "Again…a deal was a deal…" Chase said. "That is indeed correct, Chase." Jack said. "You failed to win, and therefore, I must leave…" "What are you planning, Jack?" Chase asked. "What do you mean?" Jack said. "What are you planning on doing after leaving us?" Chase said. Jack ponders a bit. "You know what… I honestly have no clue." Jack admitted. "I kinda am feeling a bit lost right now and I need time to clear my head." "Ah, that is true. Ever since Peridot's poofing and later defection, you hadn't been yourself." Chase said. "Yea, no thanks to you…" Jack said with still a subtle anger tone.
Chase sighs. "Look, you really need to let it go, Jack. It would be for your own best, both for me and you." he said. Jack zips up the last of his stuff and picks it up. "Look, I know you care for me and I appreciate it. You led me to become a true man, not some weak insecure person, and I really applause you for doing that… but I think it's time for me to forge my own destiny. I don't know what would happen to me, but I know that I need some time to focus on myself and myself alone. I will have our good memories and our bad memories but you'll always be my master, Chase." Jack said with a bit of tears shedding from his eyes. Jack then wipes away the tears and Chase softly nods. "Well, then there's no turning back now, Jack. Farewell. May your future hold greatness." Chase said. Jack softly smiles. "I will, Chase… I will." He responded. Jack picks up his stuff with the help of his jackbots and loaded up the jet. Wuya, Jackson and Chase watches as Jack boards the Jet and took off, leaving the Heylin group behind. Wuya and Jackson walks away from the hanger as Chase stares out to the sky. "You going to reminisce on the good time for a bit, Chase?" Wuya said at the door. Chase looks over and nods. "Yea, I need some time to myself." Chase said. Wuya nods as she and Jackson walks out as Chase looks back at the sky. The jet was now fully out of view and he was alone. However…he began to cackle a bit. He pulls out the Crystal Glasses and uses it. "Let's see if things are going as to plan." Chase said as peers into the future. We aren't shown much but what we are seeing pleases Chase. A bit later, Chase removes the glasses and laughs a bit. "If nothing unexpected happens, then this plan would go flawlessly." Chase said. He recomposes himself and walks back inside. Whatever Chase's plan is, it's must be really special.
Back in Beach City, Steven, the Gems and the Monks had just warped back home. Garnet turns the lights on and Raimundo and Garnet helped Clay to walk over to the couch and sit down on it. Clay and Raimundo agreed to change bed spots for the time being. "Thanks, guys, for helping me." Clay said. "No problem, Clay." Garnet said. Raimundo walks to the fridge. "Man, after all that, I could use some sna-" Raimundo said as he opens the fridge. He then stop mid-sentence and fell backwards. "What is that putrid smell!?" He shouts. "Uh oh, I think the cake went bad." Amethyst said with a chuckle. "THAT… THAT was a cake?!" Raimundo said. Steven comes down stairs in a very happy mood after saying hello to his bed and TV. Raimundo fans the smell away. "Yesh, that really did went bad." Raimundo said. "I'm going to get a snack at the big donut. Want anything, guys?" Steven said. "I wouldn't mind one, Steven." Omi said. Clay and Kimiko would also asked for one. However when Steven asked Raimundo…"Sorry, bro, I think I lost my appetite after the cake smell fiasco." Raimundo admits. "Maybe it'll come back later on." Steven said. "Yea, true…" Raimundo said. Steven nods as he heads out.
Clay lies down on the couch, albeit slowly. "Man, I didn't expect you to be this badly hurt, Clay. You seemed to be very durable." Omi said. "Well, sometimes, the bodies does give out if it gone through the ringer." Clay admitted. "Chase must had did a serious number on me while in the showdown a few days ago." "Yea, and then you swung super hard to get a home run, but even then…you might have gotten injured when doing that." Kimiko added. Clay nods. "Yea, that is true, but I think I would try to push through the pain and make it home." he said. "But then you would likely get hurt more and we can't have that." Pearl said. Clay thinks a bit and then quietly nods. "Yea, I guess I can't train for quite some time." Clay said. "Yea, I think that's the wise idea, rest and relaxation can do a body good." Pearl said. Clay nods.
A bit later, Steven return…just without donuts. "Bad news guys, the Big Donut is closed for the night." Steven said. "Ah, that is a most shame." Omi said. "Yea, but we can wait till it opens tomorrow." Kimiko added. "That's true, but I'm still going to be limited on my movement for the time being." Clay said. Steven nods as he grabs his cookie cat alarm and heads out to the porch. "I guess Steven is going to set his alarm so he can get there early." Raimundo said. "That's most smart of him." Omi said. "If I recall the saying correctly, the early bird catches the worm or is it the other way around?" "No, you got it this time, Omi." Raimundo said. "That's good to hear that." Omi said. Raimundo said just as he looks up, he sees Steven jump up very high. This caught him off guard. "What the…did…did Steven just jump really high?" Raimundo said. Kimiko and Omi looks over to see Steven not there. They scratched their heads a bit. Was Raimundo delusional? Then again, Steven was just outside so maybe he's onto something. Just then, Steven landed perfectly back onto the porch. They realized that Raimundo was indeed onto something. Before they could react, Steven leaps into the air again.
"Oh my goodness! I think Steven just discovered another ability!" Kimiko said. "Yea, and it looks like it's like a high jump. Man he would make a slam dunk in basketball." Ramindo said. "Looks like I might have some most competition on it." Omi quips. Raimundo chuckles as they head out. They look up to the sky and see Steven high in the sky. However, he was floating down at a slow rate. "Uh oh." Kimiko said. "The power is keeping him in the air." "Yea, and it looks like it's going to be a good while to get him down." Raimundo said. "Wait, if I recall, you can use wait to make you float in the sky for a bit, right?" Omi said. "Yea, that is true. I better go see what Steven need." Raimundo said. He leaps off the porch and uses the wind to get him as high as Steven.
"Yo, Steven. See you got your own floating power." Raimundo quips. "Yea, but I don't know how to descent at a faster rate. Can you get the Gems to help me out?" Steven said. "Can do, S." Raimundo said as he uses his wind ability to land next to the Monks. Raimundo quickly heads in as Amethyst was getting the cake. Raimundo plugs his nose as he walks up to Amethyst. "Hey, Ames." Raimundo said. "Yo, Rai, you want some cake? Last chance." Amethyst said. "No thanks, I'm good. I would like to mention that Steven is up in the sky floating." Raimundo said. Amethyst was surprised to hear that and heads out. She looks up and indeed see Steven. "What?! how did he learn to fly? I thought Lapis is the only one that could do it." Amethyst said. "We thought so, too." Kimiko added. "I'm thinking we must need Garnet's help." Omi said. "I'll go get her." Amethyst said as she heads back in.
A bit later, Garnet and Pearl arrived with Amethyst. Clay remained inside, resting as he wouldn't be much of help at this time, especially with his back injury. Garnet ponders as Pearl is mortified about this situation. "Why are we here, doing nothing?! Steven is falling and needs our help!" Pearl said as she began to run around backwards, holding her arms out trying to "catch" Steven, even though he still pretty high in the sky. "Kimiko, don't you have a cell phone?" Garnet said. "Oh, yea, Steven and I exchanged numbers a good while back. We could contact him from the ground." Kimiko said as she presses a number and speed dials Steven's phone. Steven answers it. "Hey, Kimiko." Steven said. "Hey, Steven, how's the skyline?" Kimiko said.
Pearl then grabs Kimiko's phone. "Steven! Are you fine?!" Pearl said. Kimiko then gets the phone back and puts it on speaker. "Yea, I'm fine. I think this is some new power" Steven said. "Wonder what made you notice it?" Raimundo quips. Garnet then remember something. "Rose could control the rate of her descent to the ground." Garnet said. "So basically, this power can allow Steven to float for a good while?" Omi said. "Looks like it." Garnet said. "Steven, try to fall faster." Pearl said. "I don't think I can. I just discovered it and I don't know how to control it. Can you guys keep me company? At least till I land?" Steven asked. "Well, I guess we can't do training tomorrow because you guys would be tired from that." Amethyst said. "Amethyst is right, if we do this, training would be off the table for the day." Garnet said. "Alright then. We'll help out as much as we can." Raimundo said. A following montage shows the Monks and Gems keeping Steven occupied. Amethyst threw a soda to Steven and accidentally hit a seagull with a bag of chips that was flying by. Garnet managed to best Steven at Checkers, Raimundo played a bit of rock paper scissors, and Kimiko and Steven played a game with their phones.
A bit later, it was early morning, they were playing a bit of picture guessing. "Let's see...is it a broom? No wait, a spear!" Steven said. Pearl gave Steven a thumbs up. Just then, an alarm went off in the background. "Uh, Steven, is there a reason for the alarm?" Amethyst said. Just then, Steven and the Monks realized something. "Oh nuts." Steven said. "Guys, get me down as soon as you can!" "Why? It's not like you are in a hurry." Amethyst said. "Well, here's the thing…Remember last night Steven was going to the donut store and it was closed for the night." Raimundo said. "Really? That's the reason why he's worried now?" Pearl said. "Looks like it." Kimiko said. Raimundo rushes over to the alarm and gets it. He sees that it's 7:01 am. This made him think a bit. 'Why do I have a feeling that something is off' Raimundo thought. He then picked up the phone. "Steven, is it fine that I check the donut shop for you?" Raimundo said. Steven gasp over the phone. "Yea, you always seems to be a like a big brother to me, Raimundo. Go check if they're open!" Steven said.
Just as Raimundo heads out, Steven realized something. "wait a minute…my power is emotion based. I lost my healing spit when Dad had kept his "injury" for a bit longer. So, this means that this is also emotion based. If I have negative thought, I might descent faster. I'll wait for Raimundo to return with the donut before I make my rapid fall." Steven said. The Gems and Monks, sans Raimundo, over heard that when Steven mention that. Back to Raimundo, he arrived to the donut shop and tries to open it… to no avail. He then looks at the time and sees that it opens at 7:30 am on Sunday. "Wait...today is Sunday…that means that it opens in…" Raimundo said as he looks at the cookie cat alarm. It said 7:08 am. "It wouldn't be open for another 20-ish minutes. This gives time for Steven to make it there with time to spare." Raimundo began to head back.
Steven was starting to get worried and began to descent faster. Just then, Raimundo got on the phone. "Steven, the donut shop isn't open. They open at 7:30 am on Sunday…which is today!" Raimundo said. "Oh duh…" Steven said, with a bemoaning tone. "That does give us time for me to land and get to the donut shop with minimal issues." Steven said. "You know it, Steven." Raimundo said. A bit later, Steven fully landed, this time, without a thud but would still have a rough landing. Raimundo hands Steven the cookie cat clock and shows that it's 7:28 am. "Just in time, too." Steven said with a big smile. "You guys gets some rest, I'll get some donuts." Steven said as he heads to the donut shop. Raimundo smiles then lets out a big yawn. "Man, we pulled an all nighter." Raimundo quips. "Yea, but Clay would be well rested but injured." Kimiko added. Raimundo nods as the monks and Gems head back to the house. Steven would still get his donuts but still hit the ceiling as the result.
