Episode 5: Drop Beat Dad

Jack had recently arrived back to his home. He was in his basement, pacing and thinking of something. He's in a bit of a turmoil. "Should I really be doing this? What would my parents think of it?" Jack said to himself. He was holding a cell phone, contemplating on making the call. He knew that if he called them, there would be no turning back. If he doesn't then who knows what he is planning. Jack sits down and looks at the phone. "I…don't know why…but I feel like it might be the best solution to find myself." Jack said to himself. One of his Jackbots goes up to him. "What are you thinking, Master?" the Jackbot said. Jack thinks a bit. "Well, ever since the Chase fiasco, I've been wondering who I really can be. I mean, he was my idol, my ally…a friend that I could've trusted. Instead, he threw it away like a piece of trash. It shattered my perspective of Chase. I don't know how or even if I can trust him again." Jack said.

The Jackbot just listen. "Look, I think I might need to do a bit of a break, a little rest and relaxation, and then maybe plan things out on afterwords. I don't know if I should be an independent Heylin or something else, that… I want fate to decide." Jack said. "Master, I hope you can make the right call." the Jackbot said. Jack nods as he looks back at the phone. He began to think a bit more and soon decided on something. He dials a phone number and we hear some ringing. Just then, Jack began to talk to the phone. It was his parents that was on the other side. We don't hear much but Jack asked something important. "Is it fine if I take some cash and move out to find myself?" Jack asked. He then hears their response. "Wait really? 250 million dollars? Just to find myself in the world? Okay, well, if I do need your help, I'll give a holler, but it's unlikely to be honest." Jack said to the phone. He then softly nods. "Alright, thanks." Jack said as he hangs up. He sits down and began to ponder his next move. "Where should I go to clear my head?" Jack said.

Back in Beach City, Steven and Raimundo were helping Sour Cream with his DJ gear. "Thanks again for helping me out with all these stuff, Steven and Rai." Sour Cream said. Steven was carrying a box with one hand while Raimundo sets a few small boxes onto the cart wagon. "No problem, Sour Cream." Raimundo said. "Yea, it's actually great to be a good helper for you." Steven said with a smile. "I mean, I needed you two to do the lifting but I hope things go well tonight." Sour Cream said. Steven hands Sour Cream a big box and Sour Cream almost dropped it, not expecting it to be heavy. He then places it on the cart. "Alright, looking like we're ready." Raimundo said. Just then, Yellowtail arrived and asked Sour Cream something in the Murmur language. "I can't be back before 10 pm. I got a show to do tonight, Yellowtail." Yellowtail and Sour Cream would argue a bit and Sour Cream walks off in frustration. "Uhh, see ya, Yellowtail." Steven said as he and Raimundo followed Sour Cream with the wagon in tow.

A bit later, they arrived to the car wash when Sour Cream felt something in his stomach. "Oh man… that arguing may have messed up my stomach. I need to use the restroom." Sour Cream said as he rushes by Greg. "Oh, hey, Schtu-ball, Raimundo. Something going on?" Greg asked. "Well, we're helping Sour Cream take his gear to the warehouse." Raimundo said. "Yea, we're kinda being a roadie for the day." Steven said with a smile. "What about you?" Raimundo asked. "Oh...same old same old, not too busy." Greg said. Just then a bus stops in front of the car wash. "Well, looks like you are going to be a bit busy for a while." Raimundo said. "Just don't tell them that waxing is free." Greg said with an awkward chuckle.

Just then, a middle age man, sporting an expensive and exquisite outfit walks out of the bus. Greg realized on who that person was. "Marty?" Greg said. "Wait, that's Marty you mentioned?" Raimundo said. "Don't worry, Dad, I'll protect you if I have to." Steven said. "Don't worry, got a hose." Greg said. "So, this is where you work now, Star Child?" Marty said with a chuckle. "A rundown car wash? Well, I guess the music biz wasn't kind to you as it was to me." "Uh, hey, Marty, This is my son Steven and his friend Raimundo." Greg said. "Woah! Guess, I should call you Star Child Jr. then" Marty said towards Steven. "Look, Star Child, as much as I want to chat, there is some unfinished business that you and I have." He said, about ready to pull an envelope for him. Just then, Sour Cream returns. "Uh, Sorry, Mr U. I may have clog your toi-Woah! Dad?!" Sour Cream said, noticing Marty. "Sour Cream?" Marty said, slipping the envelope back into his jacket. "What are you doing here?" Sour Cream said.

As the conversation fades to the background, Steven, Raimundo and Greg watch along. "I'm surprised that they're related." Raimundo said. "Yea, it's surprising." Steven said. "You don't see the similarities?" Greg said. Steven and Raimundo then look and agreed that they do look similar. Just then, Steven asked Sour Cream about the DJ equipment. This gives Marty a sneaky idea. He tells Sour Cream that he'll stick around Beach City for a bit to make up for lost time and stuff like that. He then began to walk with Sour Cream. Steven and Raimundo look at each other with concern. "Steven, I think I'll head back. Give me info about it when it's all said and done." Raimundo said. Steven nods as Raimundo heads out.

Rest of Drop Beat Dad plays out as normal

Raimundo arrived back to the beach house. He opens the door to see Clay resting, Kimiko on her laptop and Omi, as usual, meditating. Raimundo sits next to Kimiko. "Hey, Rai. How's Sour Cream?" Kimiko asked. "Well, Steven and I found out that Greg's old manager, Marty, is Sour Cream's dad." Raimundo said. "Really?" Omi said. "Yea, I found that out today." Raimundo admits. "Huh, interesting." Omi said. "What brings him to town?" Kimiko asked. "I don't know to be honest but he mention to Greg that he had some unfinished business and was about to pull out an envelope before Sour Cream came out of the bathroom in the car wash." Raimundo explained. "That is most curious." Omi said. "Yea, it's almost like he's here for something for Greg." Kimiko added. "Whatever it is, I told Steven to report back what he finds out about Marty." Raimundo said.

"That sounds most appropriate, Raimundo. Don't want to leap before you look." Omi said. "Uh, Look before you leap." Raimundo corrected Omi. "But yea, thanks." Kimiko began to ponder something and began doing some research. Just then, Clay lets out a big yawn and wakes up. "Man, that was some good rest." Clay said, slowly sitting up with a bit of noticeable pain. "Afternoon, Clay." Raimundo said. "Hey, Rai. You were mentioning about Sour Cream and his biological father?" Clay said. "Yea, Marty is his name, Greg's former manager." Raimundo explained. "Ah, okay, that's really unique." Clay said. Raimundo nods. Kimiko then discovers something unique. "Huh...weird...why is there an ad for Pete's Burger on the search engine? Then again, they need some money." Kimiko said to herself. She looks at the ad and then hear a jingle…a familiar jingle. This made Kimiko wonder what song it was suppose to be.

"Guys?" Kimiko said as she pulls out some headphones. "What is it, Kimiko?" Raimundo asked. "I think I might have cracked the case a bit." Kimiko said, handing Raimundo the headphones. Raimundo puts it on and Kimiko plays the ad. Raimundo listen and watches it and was shocked to see a young Marty on screen. "Wait a minute! That's a younger Marty!" Raimundo said. "Huh, wouldn't have guessed that was Marty but listen to the tune. That's the real money maker." Kimiko said. He listen some more and was able to put two and two together. "I think Marty is here because he has some money that he needs to give to Greg. That's why there was an envelope. It must contain a check." Riamundo deduced. "How much do you think it would be?" Omi asked. "Who knows, the ad could be either regional or national, so money can varies. My guess is that it would be about 5 or so million dollars at max." Raimundo said. "You sure that would be what he gets paid?" Clay said. "Well, I did say at max. Minimum would be around half a million. This is an ad we are talking about." Raimundo said. "We'll have to wait for Steven to give us the report." Omi said. "True, Omi, but I think this is something that could change Greg's fortune if Marty holds up his end of the bargain." Raimundo said. The rest of the monks nods.

Back at Jack's place, It was sunsetting, Jack finished packing up his stuff and had some of his Jackbots carry his stuff to the jet once more. Jack walks out the house and takes in a deep breath. "Well, no turning back now." Jack said to himself. He began to look back at the house. We are shown some flashbacks, from when he first met Wuya, his leg injury, firing Katnappe with the biggest smug look on his face, and him bringing Chase to show what his base looks like. Those were some good times as a Heylin. However, his motive for ruling the world was waning by the day, ever since Peridot's defection to the Crystal Gems. He doesn't know why…but he really care for Peridot. He wants to be with her but ruling the world is also on his agenda. If he could give that all up just to be with Peridot… he surprisingly would. He deeply cares for Peridot. For now, he needs to clear his mind and had a destination in mind. Jack looks back at the house one last time and lets out a big sigh. "Alright, Jackbots, I'm ready to move out from my parent's place." Jack said just as the Jackbots finished placing his stuff on the jet. Jack boards the jet and presses some coordinates. The jet takes off and we don't know where Jack is going for this time, we do know that Jack is looking to clear his head for a good while…we don't know if it would be a while or for good. That's up to Jack.

Back to Beach City, Steven ran up the stairs, ready to report back what just happened. Raimundo was pacing around, waiting for Steven, Clay was sitting on the couch and Omi and Kimiko was standing up. Just then, Steven arrived to the door and open it. "Hey, guys." Steven said with a smile. "Hey, Steven-roo." Clay said. "What's happened to Marty and Sour Cream?" Raimundo asked. "Well, Marty was trying to promote a soda called Guacola and used Sour Cream." Steven said. "Should have seen that coming. How was the soda?" Raimundo said. "It was really nasty and not in a good way." Steven said with a shiver. Kimiko quickly looks it up and sees that it barely getting one star in reviews. "Yesh, that's saying it lightly." Kimiko said. "However, Yellowtail managed to give Sour Cream his old DJ stuff back and managed to save the rave." Steven said. "Well, looks like Sour Cream and Yellowtail are back on good terms." Raimundo said. "Anything else, Steven?" Omi asked. "Yea, Dad got an envelope and managed to get a check for 10 million dollars. He's rich now." Steven said. Raimundo gives a whistle. "We figured that Marty was here to square away with Greg but didn't expect that big amount of cash." Raimundo said. "Yea, it's all thanks to one random ad that we found that we put the pieces together" Kimiko added. "Ad, what kind of ad?" Steven asked. "We'll show you and Greg tomorrow." Raimundo said. Steven nods. Greg and Jack both got ludicrous amounts of money today, one from their old manager and one from their parents. Now with them having money to spend, the question now becomes… how would they spend it?
