Yamcha said he would be competing in The 24th World Martial Arts Tournament,since Cheelai boosted his confidence again.Cheelai wore different clothes while holding Cheecha(something similar to Android Arc Bulma's clothes).They both went to the World Martial Arts Tournament as they awaited Goku.Goku came & he hugged everyone & noticed Cheelai was holding Cheecha,& said it looks like her & Yamcha tied the knot.Both of them blushed Yamcha laughed nervously while Cheelai just scoffed,Goku noticed he had gotten stronger since the last time he saw him.(Yamcha's PL:67M & Cheelai's PL:353K)Yamcha said that Cheelai encourages him to train everyday.Pintar made fun of Yamcha since he was "weak" since he was suppressing himself.Yamcha one-shot Pintar knocking him out cold & advancing.
Yamcha stared at Shin as his match with Piccolo,he was shocked when Piccolo forfeit the match.He was internally happy knowing that Shin forfeit as well,he looked at Spopovich as he brutally kicked Videl out of the ring.The thing he was carrying seemed odd,Gohan & Kibito forfeit to fight Babiddi.The final two were Yamcha & 18,(plus Mr.Satan) Yamcha fought her to his max potential.Until 18 got him in a headlock,she said she'd throw the fight for 5M zeni,he agreed & did a sidekick at her which made her go "flying" out of the ring.This shocked everyone even Cheelai but it didn't matter he won that's all that mattered to her.Yamcha defeated Mr.Satan this wasn't shocking,Satan tried to play it off as the student became the master.Making both of them get popularity,Yamcha gave half of the prize to 18 as promised.
Yamcha & Cheelai celebrated until they both saw Vegeta & Goku standing there,they got scared when they saw Vegeta blast part of the audience.(during Vegeta vs Goku)They both sensed a big Ki signature; they sensed Vegeta's ki expand & disappear.They decided to gather the Dragon Balls though they weren't friends with Vegeta they cared about him.Cheelai wished for everyone to be brought back to life except the evil.They also sensed Goku's ki rise,they went to Kami's Lookout to wish them luck against Buu.Buu came earlier than expected,Yamcha & Krillin thought similar ideas they charged at Buu but unable to touch him he turned them to chocolate.Cheelai & Cheecha were the last ones to fall(except Goten & Piccolo).While in Other World,Yamcha & Cheelai were together with Cheecha,he trained & she was confused until he told her that's where dead people go.
When Buu went to Other World everyone was afraid, until Goku & Vegeta raised their Ki,then suddenly appeared back on Earth.Cheelai & Yamcha heard Vegeta's voice telling them to lend Goku their energy.They both along with the others gave their energy,after they were at the lookout,they were happy to see Goku,but it took a while to get use to Majin Buu.
