CHASING THE SUN

This is third in the series, following An Uncertain Future and Healing. The guys are on their way back to NY. Although the bounty on Bucky's head has been cancelled, he's still wanted by most law enforcement agencies on the planet. Steve is committed to bringing Bucky in from the cold. Bucky just knows that he needs to stop killing, whatever the cost to himself.

7. Chapter 7

When Pepper came into Tony's workshop, he was flipping abstractedly through some stray schematics. Looking up, he gave her a smile. "Hey."

"Hey back." She kissed him lightly, then dropped a manilla envelope on the desk next to him.

Tony eyed it. "What is it?"

"Steve gave it to me. He said it would help with getting Sergeant Barnes, Bucky, pardoned. Background information on the Winter Soldier."

"Oh." Tony was silent for a moment. "You know, he looks like I felt after Afghanistan, only worse." He tried to smile again but failed miserably. "How did I not see that before?"
