Chapter 2

"Coran, you've got incoming." Keith told him. Lotor tried to blast them. Keith shouted at Pidge to form the shield. She did and the took the blast. "Hunk, form cannon."

"You've got it." Hunk placed in his bayard and formed the canon. They tried to shoot Lotor but he was too fast. "We'll have to get in close. form sword." Lotor formed two large blades of his own. He came at them, but Voltron defended with their own sword. "Now we will see how Alfor's legacy stands against the new Altean defender." They fought with swords and kicks, but Lotor landed the first kick and sent Voltron backwards. "We got to move." They moved just before Lotor slashed the place they were just in. He did hit an asteroid, and it blew to pieces.

Lotor landed hit after hit. "Shield up." They got it just before Lotor sliced through them. "Attack." They went on the offensive. Pushing and blasting Lotor. But his tail hit Voltron. "We can't hit him, he's too fast." Pidge analyzed. "We need to stop him moving around, back him into a corner or something." Hunk suggested. "Hunk is right. We have to eliminate his speed advantage. Limit his movements." They headed for a space rock that looked like it would do the job. "Now we lure him in close." Voltron backed against the rock and Lotor blasted them. They got their shield up. When he tried to go at a different angle, the rock stopped him. He kept trying from different angles but to no avail. He then charged straight for them. "Wait, let him build up speed." After a few ticks they moved, and Lotor hit the rock. Pidge and Lance blasted, but Lotor went through the rock and come around behind them.

"Shoulder cannon." Hunk created it and charged it, when they fired, Lotor just disappeared. As the paladins tried to figure out happened. Lotor came from a portal to the left and punched Voltron in the face. "Is everyone okay?" Keith checked in. "How is he moving so fast." Pidge did not understand this robot at all. "We have to get up and attack." Lotor disappeared just as they were about to land a punch. "We definitely did not get him." Lance commented. Then they were hit by Lotor from the right. Then behind. Lotor seemed to be attacking from all directions. "How can he just disappear like that? It doesn't make sense." Hunk asked. "He's entering the quintessence field at will."

"But didn't we blow up the gate."

"How is he entering without it." Pidge was not happy that things were not making sense. "Because I gave his ships the ability." Allura felt so guilty. But before she could say anything else, Lotor attacked again. "Unlimited power is mine. All realities will fall to the new Altean Empire." Lotor charged for another blast. Voltron used their shield, but the blast was moving them backwards. Eventually, the shield couldn't hold out, and Voltron stopped cold. "We have to go in after him. Getting power from the quintessence is the only way we can match his strength. "

"Can we do that?" Hunk was not optimistic. "If he can do it, Voltron can. Can't we?" Pidge was also concerned. "My father did it once before, but it's extremely dangerous."

"Do we have a choice?" Lance asked. "We need your help Allura." Keith encouraged. "We have to try."

"I may be able to guide us in, but you'll all have to focus your energy." After a few minutes, Allura spoke again. "Form sword." Voltron flew quickly towards the light, and hit it with their sword, which led them into the quintessence field. Lotor chuckled. "I underestimated you Princess." Lotor and Voltron began to sword fight once again, with no clear leader. "We just took a major shot, but I feel fine." Pidge was shocked. "All this quintessence is keeping us at full power." Hunk was amazed. "It's more than that. Can you hear your Lions talking to you? Voltron is capable of more than we ever imagined." Voltron began to fire. They attacked, and this time, they were able to keep up. "See if you can dodge this asshole." Pidge screamed and fired. It hit Lotor. "Come and get some." Lance fired too and also hit. "Let's end this." Pidge said. "Let's destroy that guy." Hunk told them. Allura paused. "We have to get out of here."

"What are you talking about. we could win."

"This is exactly what happened to Zarkon and Hanerva. Exposure to all this quintessence turned them into monsters." Lotor laughed more crazily than he ever had. "Poor poor Allura. All of the power in the universe at your fingertips and you are still too weak to use it." As Lotor charged the team realized she was right. "Here comes Lotor." Keith warned his team. They flew away, but Lotor gave chase. "How do we stop this?" Hunk asked. Allura paused. "We give Lotor all of the power that he wants. They stopped so did Lotor. Voltron blasted him with as much power as they could. Lotor tried, but he couldn't fight back. Lotor perished. "Let's grab him and get out of here." Keith told everyone. "We can't, we have to go now." Pidge told them. "We have to try." Even after everything, Allura didn't want to abandon him. "But Pidge is right. We stay in here much longer and Voltron is done for." Everyone started feeling the pain. "But we can't just leave him." Allura insisted. "Allura, we have to go now." Lance told her. "Lotor made his choice. Let's get out of here, Allura." Keith told her. She gave in. They left him behind in the quintessence field. "What did you do in there?" Keith asked. "I transferred the excess power from Voltron. It's a technique I learned on Oriande. Thanks to Lotor." Allura was feeling so many emotions. "Thank you Allura, you saved us."

"Not just us, the entire universe."

"Oh, thank the ancients your back."

"Lotor is no longer a threat." Keith told the castle. "I'm afraid we face a bigger threat now. His jumping in and out of the quintessence field created multiple growing rifts in the fabric of time and space."

"What does that mean?" Lance asked. "It means that unless we do something fast, those tears will continue to expand until all of existence as we know it has been destroyed." Pidge explained. "There has to be something we can do."

"Scanning the rift for any strand refabrication possibilities. "

"I'm running a few different models now to see if there is any chance it can close on its own." Hunk told Pidge. "Nothing."

"Nope, me neither."

"How long do we have?" Keith asked. "Based on my readings about fifteen doboshes." Coran replied. "Allura, you have to have a way to close it. Voltron opened it up, maybe we can, I don't know. There's got to be a way."

"I don't know. I'm sorry, but I just don't possess that level of alchemic knowledge."

"The only thing that would be able to close the rifts would be a source of gravity more powerful than a supermassive black hole." Pidge told them. "Any chance we could find one?" Lance asked. "Wait a tick. The teludav." Coran exclaimed. "What about it."

"To make wormhole jumps, the teludav creates a brief flash of infinite mass. There might be a way I can overload the teludav reactor and seal the rift. If one of the flashes went off in the rift, it could do the job." There was a pause. "But that would mean, we would have to sacrifice the castle." Hunk said. "We don't have much choice. The castle will be wiped out with the rest of us anyway." Pidge said. "Still, it's been our home."

"I hate to say goodbye to my grandfather's creation, the last piece of the real Altea." Everyone paused. "Coran, begin preparations. Everyone else, start unloading the castle, we need to evacuate immediately." Allura said. She was said, but she would do what needed to be done.

And that is exactly what everyone did. People, supplies, stuff, Shiro's clone, the mice, Kaltenecker, the space wolf, and anything else they could be set on board the lions. "Goodbye old friend." Coran said. He hoped on a lion. The lions left the castle, and it flew into the rift. The explosion did close the rift. The lions were caught in the blast. But they made it out.

"It worked." Hunk exclaimed. "You did it Coran." They found a diamond. It was created from the castle of lions. "Well, we saved all realities everywhere. What do we do now?" Lance asked. "We need to find a place to land, see if we can help Shiro." Keith told them. They found a planet and landed there. They laid the clones body down. "This body is barely living, but Shiro's spirit is alive. He's inside the Black Lion. I've heard him talking to me." Lance started to tear up. "He... he tried to tell me, but I didn't realize." He fell on his knees. "I'm so sorry Shiro. I didn't know. I could've..." He started sobbing. Keith placed his hand on Lance's shoulder. He looked up. Keith smiled at him. "It's okay."

Allura walked over the black lion and pulled Shiro's consciousness from her. She then transferred it into the body of the clone. Everyone watched in anticipation. His body started to glow purple. His hair turned white. Shiro opened his eyes, sat up, and began to cough. He laid back into Keith. Everyone was shouting in excitement. "You found me." Shiro smiled. "We're glad your back Shiro." Shiro closed his eyes again. "So now what do we do? I mean, the castle is destroyed." Hunk asked everyone. "There's only one place that has the plans that can help us build a replacement for the castle. Coran gave them to my dad." Pidge replied. "We're going home." Keith said.
