It was Bucky, unexpectedly, who answered. "Just holding hands in the street could get you tossed in jail back then." He looked sadly at Steve. "Or killed."
The table was silent for a moment. "So that's a no?" Clint said.
"Clint," Steve said quietly. "It's none of your business."
"Yeah, I know, Cap." Clint grinned. "It just makes a good story if you were." He picked up a taco and destroyed it in two massive bites.
At the other end of the table, next to Tony, Bruce said drily. "Privacy was one of the biggest casualties of the 20th century."
