Upon Mirokus return he resumed Kagomes lessons in the main part of the house in front of the family crest. As he lectured and she studied he taught her how to use her spiritual energy.
She could sense the seal that had kept the demons subjugated and as some time went on it became stuffy and uncomfortable to be in that room with its power oppressing her.
Shuddering she placed her brush down.
"Perhaps we can take a break Lady Kagome." Miroku offered. Shaking her head she rubbed at her wrists.
"No. I want to finish for today as soon as possible. The faster this is done the faster we are free." She replied careful of the words she chose as she was almost always under watch during the day and guards posted at her door by night.
She had only snuck out the one night worried that if she made a habit of it she would get careless putting them at greater risk.
No one knew about their copulation or their vows, Sesshomaru had passed a note to her by way of Miroku to assure her it was just between them.
"I miss you." She would mouth every day as she stood on her balcony watching him. From time to time she thought she saw him looking up at her but from the distance it was hard to tell.
Picking up her brush she resumed the mantra Miroku had instructed he to write. It was in actuality a sutra that would help in weakening the barrier of the seal once she imbued it with her energy.
If all went well she would hang it by her name on the family crest to show off her academic accomplishments. Miroku was stalling in her 'graduation' from her tutoring to give them more time citing that Shippo had cast a dark aura over her that impeded their lessons.
Kagome had practically laughed when he had told her parents that nonsense with a straight face before the sad realization hit her again that two of her beloved friends were gone.
"When I left Rins injuries had healed considerably and she was sitting under the cherry blossoms with Shippo and the dragons." Miroku had assured. "They are both worried for you and Sesshomaru but they are well fed, clean, and comfortable."
Kagome had burst into tears at that thanking him profusely. "No thank you Lady Kagome. My hope is that this compound is the first of many that you will be able to assist me in freeing."
Putting down the brush into the inkwell she sighed. "Would you check my work master Miroku?"
"But of course my lady." Standing he stood over her shoulder studying it. Putting his hand over it she felt his spiritual strength move past her shoulder into the brushstrokes. "Very good. You should sign your name for such an accomplishment."
Nodding she picked up the brush again and put her own energy into it as she signed her family name to it. All the while she thought of her husband knowing that someday they would be together freely somewhere far away from the Higurashi compound.
Sesshomaru glanced up at the sky to see the sun nearly over head. Glancing to the mansion he watched as Kagome came out onto her balcony.
"Punctual as always my love." He muttered to himself with a smirk. While he never let his gaze linger or stare at her he did steal glances of his wife from time to time.
From her position off the ground she just seemed to be looking at the compound but he knew better and everyday he worked he aimed to put on a good show for her.
"Sesshomaru!" Sangos voice called out forcing the low growl from his chest. Placing his work down he stood tall staring at her with narrowed lids. "Where is the demon cat you were so fond of? She was meant to start duties in the stables."
"Rin is dead. You saw to that." He said clenching his hands into tight fists digging his claws into his palms.
"Shame." Sango replied mockingly. "Better off though, half-breeds have no right to be alive. At least a demon is a demon but those types of abominations have no place in this world."
Sesshomaru felt the blood run down his fingers as he loosened his grip. Taking out her chain that she enjoyed binding him with she smirked malevolently.
Looking to the mansion she gave a small wave to Kagome who stood with wide eyes watching. "She can't save you anymore. Word has it within the week she will be married and gone to Lord Naraku."
Tying his wrists Sesshomaru felt his anger push into his skull pounding with tension and pressure. "What is wrong Sesshomaru? Do you wish that Lady Kagome would make you her pet instead? That she used you as I do?"
Wrapping it around his waist she secured it tugging on him. "Just think of her and I am sure it will be quite pleasurable for you. I am not that much of a jealous woman as long as I get what I want."
Kagome felt sick as she watched Sango chain up Sesshomaru.
"No!" She screamed out beating her hands against the stone bannister. "Get away from him!"
As Sango led him away Kagome ran into her room with angry tears falling down her face. Rushing to the door she opened it.
"I need master Miroku! I am overcome by a demonic presence! Help me!" Screaming at the guards she slammed the door shut to her chambers and ran back out to the balcony.
"Where are you?! Oh no, my love." Frantically she searched but saw neither of them. Gripping her kimono she made to shed it to run down herself in nothing but her undergarments and save her husband.
"Lady Kagome." Miroku called from the room. Turning she ran to him and gripped his robes.
"Master Miroku, Sango has taken Sesshomaru to her dungeon. Please save him. She uses him for sex, I promised him I would protect him from her." She blurted out her tears thick and her voice hoarse.
"Despicable woman." He sneered out. "Sit. I will help Sesshomaru." Taking her hands he eased her onto her bed and ran out of the room.
