Enjoy!

Kagome dressed in the clothes of one who would have gone on a pilgrimage. It bothered her to no end that Sesshomaru left behind his clothes that bore the symbol of the west as well as his armor.

He had hid the Bakusaiga under the wheel of the cart where one couldn't find it easily.

Both he and Koga had adorned their former clothing they wore in her own compound that had marked them as slaves.

Seeing them dressed in such a way she began to question her resolve, when Koga approached her having shed his furs and armor she wavered.

"You alright Kagome?" He had asked placing his hands on her shoulders to look at her square in the eyes.

"Yes. I am worried is all." She replied with a small smirk.

"We did this once, we can all do it again. What I'm worried about is Sango, what if she turns? I don't like that she'll be so close to you."

"You're such a good friend. Don't worry about me. I think Sango will be alright. I don't think she's spent all this time spiritually training herself only to stab us in the back."

"Just watch yourself in there. I already know Sesshomaru's gonna be a bundle of nerves the minute you go in there."Koga gave her a half smirk.

"Thank you Koga. You too, please be careful. I have no idea what we're walking into." She said gratefully.

That had been a few days prior before they left. Now with An-Un pulling the cart Miroku steered them up to the compound where allegedly the remaining human families had come together.

"Who comes?" One of the guards called out as Miroku brought the cart to a halt.

"A humble monk with the refugees from the Higurashi compound." He called back. "The lady Kagome Higurashi, her lady Sango and two demons who have served the ladies well."

"Wait here." The guard said. Kagome closed her eyes and took a breath. Sesshomaru came up alongside her and reached out to her allowing her to feel his energy around her.

'I am here little one.' He projected to her.

'Thank you love.' Reopening her eyes she held her head high. 'This is going to be more difficult than I thought it would be.'

'Yes. It will be hard on both of us. Just keep in mind what is important, why we are here.'

'Always.' Taking a breath as the guard came back out he motioned for Miroku to enter. With two others opening the heavy gates he snapped the reigns on the dragons prompting them to move.

Sesshomaru assisted Kagome down as Koga, begrudgingly, helped Sango from the back of the cart. Miroku jumped down as slaves came to unharness the dragons to take them to the stables.

"Lady Higurashi." A man came forward, more than likely from the mansion by the way he was dressed.

"Yes." Kagome replied as Sango came alongside her.

"Lord Kimurya requests your presence my lady." He said.

"Of course. The lady Sango and master Miroku will accompany me. My servants, Sesshomaru and Koga have been extremely faithful to me and I would appreciate they are shown suitable accommodations."

"Yes my lady. Kagura." The man said snapping his fingers. "Show the demons around. Explain what is expected of them."

"Yes Lord Tanaka." The demon woman came forward with burning red eyes and a sultry voice. "Follow me."

Kagome felt her stomach roll as they were led away into the mansion. Staring up at it as they approached she suddenly felt trapped.

Thinking of their children she found her confidence and self assurance knowing that in the end they were creating a better world for their family.

"What are your trades?" Kagura asked. "I'm only asking because that depends on where you stay. The compound segregates its slaves based upon their usefulness."

"Husbandry and stable work." Koga replied. "Sesshomaru here is a metal worker."

Looking over her shoulder at them she gave a small, 'Hm'. Showing Koga to his quarters close to the stables she walked on with Sesshomaru leading him to an old hut.

"Here you are. Cozy, isn't it?" She said sarcastically.

"It will suffice." Sesshomaru said glancing around the space. "Is there anything else?"

"A word of wise; the humans are more on edge than I have ever seen them. More apt to point fingers and enforce punishment." Kagura warned crossing her arms over her front.

"What is your position with in the compound?" He could sense her strong character and felt she was the person he needed to talk with, that maybe she could become the voice for their people here as he had been for his.

"Breeder."

"I'm sorry." He said sincerely. Demon females who were made to breed only had children to see them sold off or thrown to the wild if they were not found to be suitable enough to sell.

"Don't be. I got over it a long time ago." Shrugging he knew the words were empty. "Watch yourself Sesshomaru."

"Do not concern yourself about me. I have been through worse." He replied. Giving a small smirk Kagura nodded in acknowledgment.

"Haven't we all." Leaving he began to think on how he could possibly approach her. He would have to get to know her first of course but hopefully she would be helpful.
