"Everyone, this is the exam site of the Hunter Exam's third phase." Beans welcomes the remaining applicants. "You'll be competing here at the top of Trick Tower. In order to pass this phase, you must reach the base of the tower alive. The time limit is 72 hours."
The applicants mutter as Beans returns to the airship, watching it take off. As the group begins trying to figure out how the hell this works, Adella pulls Ryn to the side. "I think I figured it out."
"Already? Listen, I know you're the 'smart one' but…"
"Just jump on three, okay? One, two…" Both women jump, but as they land, the tiles beneath them move, dropping them into a room below.
"Ow! Could have warned me!"
Adella winces. "Sorry, I didn't want someone else to hear."
Both women sit up, looking around the mostly bare room. All that resides in it, is a small pedestal with five wristbands and a plaque hanging above it.
"What does it say?" Adella asks as Ryn rises to look.
"We are on the path of majority rules. Oh great, we have to vote on everything, and majority say goes." Ryn grabs one of the bands, tossing another to Adella. "Way to go. We have to wait for three more people."
Adella catches the band, strapping it to her wrist. "Hey! I didn't know! I got us in!"
The two bicker for a few seconds over whether or not three other people will find their way in, only for the speaker neither had noticed to crackle to life.
"Oh, play nice you two. My name is Lippo, I'll be in charge of this phase of the exam. Congratulations on being the first in. I'd almost think you were cheating, Adella."
Ryn glares at her friend, who just smiles at the compliment. "Thank you, Lippo. But I promise, if I was cheating, I wouldn't have landed us here."
"How do you know literally everyone?"
Adella shrugs. "My charming personality and dazzling looks."
"Don't make me laugh."
Lippo once again speaks from the overcom. "You will have to wait until three more arrive but fear not. I think you don't have too long."
As if on cue, two panels in the roof open, dropping two other rather familiar applicants in.
"Gon! Killua!"
"Adella!"
Ryn rolls her eyes, burying her head in her hands. "Great! We got the kids. Now all she's gonna do is take care of them."
Adella immediately pulls both boys into a giant hug, squeezing them tight. Gon reciprocates immediately, while Killua rolls his eyes, going limp so she won't crush him.
"Looks like we're partners!"
Killua finally extracts himself from her grip, looking over to Ryn. "Partners?"
Ryn explains the rules, tossing both twelve-year-olds a wrist band. They put them on as well, settling in to wait for the fifth participant.
