Miroku waited by the stables and watched the young man, Kohaku, that was of some interest to Sesshomaru. Kagome had mentioned that he may be one to sway and possibly put some trust in to.
With Kikyo being confirmed as the initial contact with in the Kimuyra mansion it had been a relief to know that he and Kagome were not alone in unweaving the intricate seals.
On Sesshomarus end he still wasn't certain if Kagura would rally her people or not and was considering other potential candidates and options.
"Master monk." Kohaku greeted with a brief head nod.
"Kohaku is it?" Miroku asked getting a nod in confirmation. "Would you be a good man and escort me through the slaves quarters. I am looking for a female whom I was told was seeking spiritual guidance."
"A demon woman is seeking spiritual guidance." Kohaku repeated as if disbelieving him.
"We are all gods children. As his humble servant it is my job to offer faith and healing to those who may seek it."
"What is the females name?"
"Kagura." Watching as Kohaku visibly seemed taken aback by the name he sighed.
"This way." He said. "Tell me monk, does this have anything to do with her most recent breeding?"
"Of that I am not certain. I simply received word that she was in need of guidance and faith." Miroku replied.
"Right." Leading him down the tight winding rows of tattered and near decaying huts they stopped in front of one. "You first."
"Coming in then?"
"Oh yeah. I have to make sure you do not tamper with the property." Kohaku nearly sneered out the words. Eyeing him sideways Miroku entered.
"What the hell is a monk doing here? Kohaku?" Kagura stood quickly staring them down. Before Miroku knew what hit him he was against a wall with a very sharp curved blade against his throat.
"What do you want with her?" He demanded. "And do not give me that cock and bull story you tried to pull out there."
"Fine. I mean no harm. I was told to approach you regarding her."
"This is about what that demon Sesshomaru said, isn't it?" Kohaku questioned forcefully.
"You know about that then." Miroku replied.
"We do not keep secrets from one another." He stated.
"Tell me, are you two romantically involved." Feeling the press of the blade against his throat he hurried. "I was only asking because Sesshomaru is married to a human woman."
"Married? To a human?" Kagura asked as if she hadn't heard him right.
"Yes. Officially a few years ago." Miroku looked over at her. "It is not something he openly advertises here mind you."
"Kohaku, let him go." Kagura said placing a hand to his shoulder. "Lover please."
Begrudgingly tossing Miroku a cross frown he lowered his weapon and backed off.
"Kagura, I don't trust these people." He said turning to her.
"But what if it's true. Then we can be together, really together." She appealed with a small sigh. "We can be free, us."
Closing his eyes for a moment Kohaku turned back on Miroku.
"If this is a trick I will personally have your head." He warned clutching the hilt of his weapon more tightly.
"No sir. It is all true. Sesshomaru, myself, and others placed with in the mansion are attempting to free the demons of this compound." Miroku explained.
"Who are the others?" Kohaku asked.
"I cannot divulge that information at this time just know that there are people in place that came here with that singular goal." He said.
"What do we have to lose?" Kagura said. "Bankotsu will realize very soon that I am not pregnant and then he will just send someone else who won't be as civil as Sesshomaru was."
"Alright. What will you have us do?" Kohaku queried appearing as if he had given in.
"Be my eyes and ears out here Kohaku. Report to me. We can figure the how and the when as we go. Kagura, I know that Sesshomaru requested you begin to speak with the other demons and get them ready for what is to come. Do you feel up to that challenge?" Miroku looked at her as she gave a small half smirk.
"Piece of cake." She replied snapping her fingers in a cocky manner.
"I'll hold you to that." Miroku smirked back at her. "If this goes as planned then hopefully within six months time you will not only be able to be together but this compound will be a distant memory."
"It sounds too good to be true." Kohaku said shaking his head.
"Guess we'll find out." Kagura replied. Leaving the two of them Miroku went back towards the stables meeting Kogas glance thrown his way.
"Lady Kagome sends her regards to you Koga." Miroku said with a wave.
"Yeah I bet she does." He retorted tossing a hay bale into a stall. "Getting itchy in here monk."
"Rest assured, the season will be over soon. There will be other tasks for you to accomplish. In fact the stable man Kohaku may have some work for you. Seek him out." Miroku said.
"Will do." Koga agreed reading between his lines just as Miroku had seen through his.
With Miroku leaving her hut Kagura wrapped her arms around Kohaku tightly.
"Six months." She sighed out. "I was hoping it would be sooner." Turning to face her he held her to him tightly.
"I promise I will make sure the next one you have to be with will treat you well." He stated.
"I am so tired of it all. You're the only one I want sugar."
"In six months you would still be pregnant."
"But I'm not." Looking up at him curiously she furrowed her brow at him before her eyes went wide. "Kohaku."
"I can't stand it anymore, watching you be used and tormented."
"What do you think they would do us if I birthed a half-breed? We would be dragged out of here by our necks and I don't even want to think what they would do to our child." Kagura began to tremble shaking her head.
"They want our help then we need to make our own demands and one of those will be absolute protection over you. Sesshomaru has access to his demonic energy. It wouldn't be seen as odd if he became protective of you with the others thinking you are with his child."
"I don't know Kohaku, do not misunderstand me or get wrong; I want to have your child but this is so risky."
"It will be worth it. You deserve to be happy and I want to be one to make sure you are." Tightening his embrace on her Kagura settled against him. "I will make certain the arrangements are in place before we do anything."
"Alright lover. I trust you." She said giving in to him as she always seemed to do.
A/N: Hi, hi everyone. So I ran in to a bit of writers block on this one recently but I think I sorted it out so on with the story.
Happy reading.
