The sound of an engine rumbling woke everyone on the ship. While most of the group was headed to the deck, if the echoing footsteps throughout the ship were any indication, two of the cabins couldn't be bothered.
"Can they keep it down?"
"Go back to sleep, darling. I'd hate for Chrollo to get pissed off that I let you follow me and didn't let you get any rest."
Ryn sticks her tongue out at the magician. "You just don't want me stealing any more of your decks."
Hisoka sighs, looking at the towers on the other bed. "Three decks. Three! And that's just in the time I've let you near me during this exam. We've been together less than twenty-four hours!"
Ryn giggles but settles back in to rest until sunrise. They could reevaluate things then.
Meanwhile, in the other cabin, a re-pinned Illumi was trying to keep Adella asleep. She had been right to assume this would be part of the exam, but there wasn't much they could do tonight. It was clear the airship would not be returning, at least, not soon. If it meant a few hours of sleep, he could deal with Adella when she woke.
He had debated using a pin on her, though not in the way she'd been begging him to, but had decided against it. The noise had caused her to stir, but his earlier evaluation of her exhaustion had been correct. She was in too deep a sleep to wake.
He jitters, a side effect of the pins he found useful in unsettling others. When the sun rose, he'd find a way for the four of them to talk.

"I thought I'd find you two here."
The sun had risen hours ago. While the others were back on the main ship trying desperately to figure out what this test was, Illumi had managed to track down Ryn and Hisoka.
Adella had wanted to stay to help her new friends, but Illumi had managed to persuade her otherwise. "If I promise to use the pins on you after the exam is over, will you listen to me for the rest of it?" It had been a hard bargain, but knowing she'd likely never get the offer again, Adella had relented.
"Illu, how good of you to join us. Oh, and Adella too. Hope you didn't work her too hard."
Adella falters, but Illumi knows better. Hisoka is just trying to get a rise out of them; Adella hadn't been that loud. "I brought us to this ship, not her."
Ryn motions for Adella to sit beside her, swiping a card from the fallen tower at Hisoka's feet. "Clearly this is a test, but what exactly is it?"
Adella huffs, annoyed she's not part of the fun on the main ship. "If we were back on the ship, maybe we would know."
Illumi clanks in complaint, unhappy she's testing her limits again.
"There's a storm coming."
Ryn chuckles. "Yeah, Adella vs. Illumi round…"
Hisoka shakes his head. "No, an actual storm. The air is dense and heavy. It's, well, wet. It will be bad."
Adella hums, frowning at the new information. "So, we have to weather a storm. Makes sense, look at all the ships around. And the hotel even has barnacles reaching the upper deck. It's no mistake we were dropped here."
Ryn groans. "Great. And we don't even get life jackets."
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
"Stay inside."
"And miss the fun?"
Hisoka hadn't laughed. Neither had Illumi as both boys had locked the girls in Ryn's room, one without a window. "We could try to break the lock."
Adella frowns, shaking her head. "I think a better use of time would be figuring out what's next. The storm can't be the only test, right?"
Ryn sits on her bed, knocking over Hisoka's towers. "Doubt it. But what else could there be?"
Adella takes a seat on the floor, biting at her thumb.
"Don't do that."
"I'm thinking."
"Yeah, but… just don't do it."
Adella rolls her eyes, and Ryn rolls hers back. "I heard mention of Zevil Island. I think the fourth phase will be there."
Ryn shrugs. "Makes sense. So, we have to get there. Easy enough."
"Except for the storm." As if summoned, the ship rocks from the force of the wind suddenly picking up speed. "Dear lord!" The ship tilts slightly on its axis, causing Adella and Ryn to grab on to remain where they are.
"Did they leave us here to die?"
"And make Chrollo mad Hisoka lost you? Doubt it." Adella forces herself to her feet. "Change in plans. We break the lock."
