Next day
"Ok time for a mission!" Lucy walked into the guild hall everyone was busy rebuilding the city and she went over to where Natsu and grey stood in front of the mission board. "Don't you think we should stay to help rebuild?" the two looked towards her and grey sighed. "Well, we would but no one wants use to help."
"What why?!" before grey could answer Erza walked up to the group. "To help repay us to saving the continent. If Alzaraz would have won would have destroyed our kingdom." Ezra looked to the board. "I think taking a simple mission to get back to normal would be nice" Natsu grabbed a flyer and grinned.
"Well, I got the perfect one." Grabbing Lucy's hand he pulled beside him. "you guys coming Mira were taking a job!" Mira just smiled nodding as Ezra and grey gave each other looks and ran after them. Wendy and Carla stood watching. "want to go Carla?" Wendy looked to her friend who nodded with a look of concern on her face. "we should hurry then" soon all 6 team members stood at the train station waiting for their ride out of town. Wendy shopped with Ezra and was happy while the rest stood off to the side. "Do we gotta take the train," Natsu mumbled as he sunk into a bench nearby.
"Oh come on Natsu, this is gonna be fun what did you choose anyways?" Lucy grabbed the flyer from his hand 'Help with a thief in Hargeon has been stealing from small stores and was worried he's taking it to far place help us find out whos stealing for 30,000 jewels. It's not a lot to split 6 ways but it's not a bad job to take to just take our minds off the past week.' Lucy looked to Natsu who was staring at her and she felt her face get hot. "What?"
"Nothing I was just thinking about something." Natsu waved her off and slump back in the seat. "why can't we walk?"
"I mean it's not that far away, We could walk but we should probably get there sooner rather than later," sighing lucy sat next to Natsu. "Do you really not want to ride the train that badly?"
"I deserve some time not puking." He mumbled Lucy giggled and nudged her partner. "Why don't we walk, it will take us a day rather than the few hours by train but if you want to."
"Are you serious lucy, little flame brain here should suck it up?" Lucy rolled her eyes and grabbed Natsu's hand and pulled him up.
"Really!" Natsu cheered hugging the girl who just tried to pry him off. "No train of death today!" he grabbed his bag and started pulling her along.
"Natsu wait, I'm serious about walking if you want but we need to let everyone else know!" she moaned as he pulled her. "Or if anyone wants to come along?"
"We rather take the train." Erza appeared in front of the two causing Natsu to stumble back a bit. "I won't tell you to take the train if you don't want to but ill take the train, we can talk about our contract before you arrive, Wendy, you want to join them?"
"Actually, I'm tried of healing most yesterday." The blue-haired girl looked at them sheepishly. "I actually haven't fully recovered from using so many healing incantations yesterday." Soon happy, lucy and Natsu started their walk as the rest took the train to Hargeon.
"Carla, have you had that vision lately." Wendy and the white-haired exceed sat separate from Erza and grey who went to the food cart to eat. Carla looked at Wendy trying to mask her shocked face with one of confusion. "I'm not a child anymore I can't tell. The way you look." Squeezing her hand slightly Wendy smiled. "Is it bad?"
"I'm not sure." Carla looked out the window the sun was setting, The station was full of people walking around. "I'm not so sure what it all means but, I heard lucy she was crying out but the people I saw, the feelings that wrapped around my mind." Carla shook her head as she leaned against the glass. "I wish we could just have a normal, peaceful time."
Wendy laughed "Well then we wouldn't have so many memories. But I do hope it's not bad." Her voice trailed off. Erza peeked in to make sure the two were ok before making her way back to the food cart as the train started moving happily sat eating a fish and grey just had a drink in his hand. "I'm surprised happy decided to come with us." Happy raised his fish.
"I need to make sure my lovely Carla is protected." He grinned and continued to eat his fish, she smiled as she sat down and relaxed for the first time, she has in what seemed like forever.
-back with Natsu, lucy-
Lucy walked behind Natsu as she scratched her head thinking of things she needed to say to the slayer 'He's so dense, I don't want to tell him too much, he needs to process small bits' she sighed and looked down at her right hand to her guild mark. The burn scars surrounding it. She never noticed Natsu had stopped and looked back at her she bumped into him, and she fell back a bit. He grabbed her wrist and made sure she didn't fall on her ass. "Why did you stop all of the sudden!" she screamed at him puffing out her checks. Natsu leaned into her, and she backed up a look of annoyance on her face as her cheeks filled with a blush tint.
"Why didn't you let Wendy clear all your burns" his voice was harsh as he looked at her hands in his grip. "Grey told me." Lucy bit her lip and looked away. "Don't look away luce, this is serious."
"I know, I was trying to find a way to talk to you about it, stupid grey." She mumbled as she tried to pull her hands out of his grip but it was no use he pulled her closer and placed his forehead on hers causing her to look back to her partner. "Hey?!"
"Lucy that was reckless, if he wasn't there to help I could have lost you for real this time. No future lucy, no past lucy" Lucy pushed him away and he just looked at her shocked as she did.
"you're one to talk you didn't tell me! How could you not tell me you were E.N.D and defeating Zeref would kill you!" as if snapping she turned on her heel and started walking again ignoring the dragon slayer who walked beside her.
"I didn't think anyone would be able to help and if I could make sure everyone made it out safely.." Natsu gulped as lucy stopped and turned her head towards him her bangs covering her eyes.
"I've been thinking and racking my brain I'm not sure whether to be proud, upset or just pure heartbroken." She mumbled the last bit as she smiled at the slayer who watched her shocked and confused. "If you died, I would have been left alone again and you promised me we go back to fairy tail. Together and you went and almost died."
"Yeah, but I didn't have a choice I couldn't let Zeref win!" Natsu groaned as he scratched his head. "But there's more to it."
Lucy sighed and looked at him. "I'm not dumb, I know there's more you need to actually tell me mostly how you can be E.N.D." She looked around there were in a small clearing on the path to Hargoan and she saw a large rock and walked over taking a seat as she looked up at the sky it was still bright out, they had a few more hours before they had to make camp. "are you planning on telling anyone else?"
"Lucy so many questions." Natsu sat in front of her and groaned. "One thing at a time. Lucy when you helped try to keep me warm my body fought over being a dragon and a demon." He looked away sheepishly. "Turns out I'm not actually human, That's obvious if I'm End but my brother he created me." lucy's eyes were wide but soon lucy was caught up on Zeref, e.n.d, and the book. "I don't want the rest of the guild to know they don't need to know, as far as I'm concerned I'm human and I haven't changed. But I'm still upset you put yourself in danger."
Lucy looked at him with horror as he spoke, and she just crossed her arms around her chest and stuck out her tongue. "You would do the same thing if any of us were in your place."
"But it wasn't anyone it was you, and I thought I lost you before and you went out and almost lost yourself to the darkness." He rolled his eyes, causing lucy to blush more than she had been. "I promised you I would protect you didn't I" his serious expression twisted into a toothy grin causing the blond to move without thinking to wrap her arms around his neck. "hey luce be careful!" he was knocked backward but landed on his elbows so they didn't fully fall over.
"I was worried about you," she mumbled into the crook of his neck. He looked down at her with a soft look before smiling slightly
"You know you didn't tell me why you kept the scars." He placed a hand on her hand. He felt her tears on his skin as he held her.
"Because it's like how Juvia, and grey wanted to keep there's at least I think it's a way to remember it. It's not a great memory but without magic, I would have them all Wendy healed as much as she could but this will always be my arm and I will always be proud of what I did. Cause I was able to save you" Natsu watched her as she looked up at him tears staining her Rosey checks.
"Don't cry luce, please" he was so soft lucy felt her chest hurt more as she hugged him tighter and the two sat for a long while in each other's arms before lucy finally stopped crying realizing she was sitting on his lap. She quickly jumped back and smoothed down her skirt. "Ugh, we should probably start walking more before we make camp, or find a hotel before it gets way too dark." she played with her fingers as she talked. He looked at her confused, she looked like a normal-looking teen for once even if she was 7 years younger than she should.
He got up and wrapped an arm around her shoulder grinning "No more tears ok, you look better when you smile anyways, less scary" he joked causing the blond to erupt in laughter and the two continued to walk.
-Lucy's P.O.V-
'The talk wasn't bad I was able to tell him slightly how I felt, mostly about the end stuff, but wow Zeref is his brother.' I racked my brain thinking back to how he looked from the times I've met him, they kinda looked similar to a dark-looking Natsu. I chuckled and looked to Natsu who was walking beside me he looked lost in thought.
I wonder if he felt odd about that hug, we don't hug that long that often. He sneaks into my room and tries to sleep in my bed but I'm sleeping I can't protest till I walk up. I bit my lip and looked back to the road.
Soon we found out selves in the small town, Natsu actually treated me to food though he ate like there was no tomorrow. "You know Natsu this reminds me of when we first met" Natsu looked confused as he stuffed a chicken drum in his mouth.
"How so" it was mumbled from his full mouth I pointed to my hand to where my mark was.
"It was over 10 years ago you brought me to fairy tail." I felt a bit weird saying 10 and I could tell Natsu was confused. He stopped eating and waved a fork at me.
"lucy, I think you've gone insane." I grabbed the fork and took a piece of his food. "hey!"
Looking out the window I saw my face. I've changed. "It's really only been 3 years at least since you brought me to fairy tail a bit longer but 7 years we were stuck in time but look at everything. Edolas, the grand magic games." Thinking about the games caused my body to stiffen
"Yeah," looking back to Natsu he leaned back a frown on his face. "I couldn't save you then either, well future you." his smile was soft and his eyes looked away from me. I felt my chest tighten as I sighed.
"Natsu you did, she got to go and be with her fairy tail." I corrected, "it was weird to see yourself like that it's scary, but we also have fun and amazing times! Like the fairy run, the cherry blossom you uprooted for me when I was sick, and every time we defeated an enemy, Christmas thought that turned kind of scary."
"No kidding you girls should never drink" Natsu flashed me his toothy grin cheering up right away, he always knows how to change someone's mood with just his smile, doesn't he. "Natsu, you brought me into such an amazing guild thank you for taking the chance on me."
"Well, I didn't have much of a choice" he got up and grabbed my hand, and pulled me up. "I couldn't leave you to some poser guy pretending to be in fairy tail." He dropped some jewel on the table. 'that's a first
The next day I woke up tired as I felt a large weight pushing me down. "warm" I mumbled as I squirmed. "Natsu, why are you In my bed!" I groaned his head popping out from under the covers a small grin on his face
"I wanted to sleep with ya" Natsu nestled into my breast more and I felt my body burn, I grabbed his shoulder and tried to pull him off. "Hey knock, it off luce!"
"No, you knock it off! Do you know how bad that sounds!" God, he was so stupid. He grabbed my arms and pinned them behind me I felt my chest tighten and my body went as stiff as a board as I looked down at his face. "Knock it of Natsu!" My voice felt like it abandoned me there I meant to sound annoyed and pissed but I sounded soft.
"It's too early for this luce, I just wanted to sleep with you it was boring over there." His eyes looked towards the other side of the hotel room where he was supposed to be sleeping. "why is that so bad to say hmm?" I felt my head going to explode, he looked back at me, and as if realizing what was happening he blushed 'Natsu just blushed!' ever since yesterday he's been acting so weird.
I wiggled in his grip, and he quickly let my wrists go and sit upright, I used my elbows to prop myself up slightly "Sleeping in the same bed and sleeping together are two different things pyro." Mumbling as I knew he didn't want the second choice, sometimes how he did things could really hurt a girl if she wasn't careful, But I'm careful right?
"But I mean where partners aren't we." His words were like a bag of bricks I looked up to him he looked away nervously he scratched at his cheek. his legs dangling from the side of the bed. "Juvia and grey sleep together so do Gajeel and levy." He pointed out and my stomach dropping I sat fully on the bed and grabbed his shoulder so he would look at me.
I put my figure in his face "Natsu there actually are partners, romantic partners! They don't just sleep in the same bed, my god you're dense!" my anger must have slipped into my voice because he looked at me shocked. "You understand the difference? Take Alzack and Bisca they got married while we were all away and had Asuka, Levy, and gajeel are even having a kid. They do that by…" he looked at me pouting "What?"
"I mean I know the difference luce, but why can't we do that?" He looked so confused and his pouting turned to annoyance as he was on his knees and yelling back at me now. "What makes them different partners than us?"
"Natsu they love each other, and they're in a romantic relationship type of partnership!" I snapped
"But we're on the same team!" I sighed and pinched the bridge of my nose.
"Do you feel this way about anyone else of the team, Erza, Juvia, god forbid Wendy?" This caused him to sit back down and stuff his head In his hands. "No way would you ask that?!" he groaned as he shook his head. I looked at him confused and shook my head.`
"You're not getting my point, you idiot. it's too early for this Natsu, you need to understand the difference were only teammates." I fell back into the bed and let out a long sigh "you're hopeless sometimes." Before I knew it Natsu was on top of me again and grinned down at me. "w-what now?!" His face was so close to him.
"Your the hopeless one, Let's be like them," I hope he didn't see the red in my checks that I knew would be there, does he know what he's saying. I've loved him since he uprooted that cherry tree maybe even way before that. But I knew he never would think about me that way was I wrong, or is he miss understanding the situation? Maybe I'm miss understanding it all, I didn't have to ask before I felt his lips on mine they were hot, and my body that had been stiff slowly melted into it. 'Is that really happening?' He grabbed my waist and pulled himself closer to me but one hand was on the side of my head to not put all his weight on me. His tongue brushed my lips and before I knew it he bit down on my bottom lip I gasp and his tongue snaked its way into my mouth and he deepened the kiss.
After what seemed like an eternity he pulled away from me, my breath came out in my pants as I looked up to him his eyes were glazed over in what I could only describe as hunger. "N-Natsu."
"I want to be more than teammates luce, I told you didn't I were were gonna be together from now on." He flashed me his signature grin and I couldn't help but smile back at him. "so wanna be partners?"
I didn't need to answer with my words as I wrapped my arms around his neck pulling him back down. He was warm and I felt so safe with him. He's always been there for me and has never let me down before I could trust him. He moved away from the kiss and went to whispering things on my neck as he placed kisses. "I know everyone thinks I'm dense, or never think of these things." He bit down and I couldn't hold back any moans I was trying hard to keep down. "But I know a bit, but one thing for certain I wanted to wait for us to be out of danger and we've always been thrown into things. But I'm not going to wait anymore." He bit more on my neck and my brain spinning and, but I knew better, and I pushed him off me. I grabbed my neck quickly and he looked at me hurt in his eye. "Ah no don't think I didn't like it it's just um…"
"What is it luce?" looking away. "I can stop…" I quickly looked back at him.
"no!" I felt embarrassed as I bit my lip "it's not that, just I've never done this stuff ya know," his arms wrapped around my shoulders and he pulled me closer to him as he nestled into my shoulder. "Me neither!" I giggled and looked at his onyx eyes I bit my lip and kissed him. "But please don't leave any marks on me I don't have anything to cover them…" with a laugh he moved quickly above me, and soon I found myself straddling his lap his hands on my waist.
"No promises but ill try." With no confidence he wouldn't do it I just melted into another kiss. Soon we ended up under the covers panting, sweat laced over both our bodies. Natsu was on top of me, he was still in my and quickly he pulled out I let out a small gasp as he fell to my side, and I just laid there. My whole body was sore, and felt so weird, in a good way but it was something new. I leaned up on my elbows and looked beside me to Natsu who smiled up at me. "I've seen you naked so many times ay know, but right now your look really cute." Grabbed the pillow beside us and shoved it in his face as I got up.
"Shut up, I'm gonna shower first ok when your down we can get going to hargeon we should be there by afternoon but with this, we might make it at night." I quickly went into the bathroom and locked the door. The shower caused steam and I looked into the mirror once before going into the water. I looked so different, before I was thinking I grew a lot but I don't feel like I have but I sure as hell look it. My strength has improved it could be better but I worked hard to be where I am. The fact Natsu even thinks I'm cute now! "This better not all be a dream" I grumbled as I washed off the sweat, "honestly I told him no marks." I looked to my chest where a bruise was starting to form where he had been sucking on it, and one on my thigh. It could have been the heat and steam but thinking back on it bad my skin feels hot.
"luce hurry up!" I grabbed my towel and walked out to a still naked Natsu who walked past me as he did he let his hand brush against my shoulder. "It's not a dream" he chuckled as he did
"Damn you and your hearing get ready!" I snapped which only caused him to laugh more as he disappeared into the shower. I put on my blue skirt and white tank top, I also put on a jacket I brought in case and it helped cover up the hickey good thing he didn't leave it on my neck. When he got out he got dressed and we both started getting ready to leave. "Hey Natsu before we leave tell me."
"Hmm?" he turned to me grabbing my hand in his. "This isn't like a one-time thing you meant it?" he squeezed my hand and nodded. "Do we tell people?" I didn't want to tell people yet I still didn't understand if he understood what they were doing let alone my own feelings. I loved Natsu but I'm still worried this could backfire.
"Let's keep it our secret for now, hmm?" he knew me well, I bit my lip and nodded as his free hand-glazed over my cheek "I want this to be ours."
"When did you become an adult?" I looked at him in shock and he looked kinda hurt. "I didn't mean to upset you."
"Fooled you didn't I!" his face twisted in a smile as he grinned. "See I can fake it!" I sighed and nodded. "well tell them when we're ready."
"They're over here!" Natsu's face dropped as he grabbed lucy quickly confused.
