Chapter 3 Springing the Trap
A.N. – This chapter focuses on three major points. The first is the minds of the Lyoko Spies, which I will explain. The second is Evil William's secret base. The third is the spy agency headquarters. Let's begin!
Short Summary – The Lyoko Spies all awake in their homes unaware of what happened. They believe that the security program was stopped for good. All the time, Evil William drains their memories of the information that was erased, and Agent Chris gets hunted.

The morning sun rose high and shined inside the bedrooms of the Lyoko Spies. The security program was stopped from resurrecting and their status as spies is now over. They can now live the normal lives they were seeking in the years since they started fighting Xana. All of them woke up and just laid in their partners embrace, enjoying their normal lives.
All the Lyoko Spies were hooked up a machine designed and created by Evil William. He was searching for any information they had about the resurrection program so he could try again. In order to not raise suspicion, he programmed their thoughts as comforting so he could search with no problem. All he was doing was waiting.
Agent Chris finally met the man behind the prison break…face-to-face.
"So," Agent Chris says, standing up. "You're the man who set everything up."
"I am. I did it for my own interests" the man said.
"Why?"
"I want Project Carthage back."
"I don't have it anymore."
"You used it. I heard about your precious security program having a core basis built from my work."
"Your work? Your work almost killed everybody."
"Isn't it wonderful though? This proves the power it has. There is only one complication, what killed it?"
"The Lyoko Warriors defeated it using a similar program that defeated Carthage the first time."
"Yes. And when the security program comes back, I will assume control of it and then all the power it gained from Carthage will be mine, and the world along with it."
"My spies will make sure you don't succeed."
"Are you sure of that?"
"Yeah."
"I beg to differ."
Agent Chris pulled a gun, but the man also pulled one and shot it out of his hand. He then went up to Chris and punched him, knocking him down.
Aelita and Jeremy both woke up and got ready for the day. Aelita noticed something was going wrong with Jeremy. He wasn't acting like his normal self.
"Jeremy, are you okay?" Aelita asks.
"Yeah, I'm fine," Jeremy responds. "Why do you ask?"
"You just seem kind of off today."
"Maybe I'm not used to living a normal life."
"But you lived one for a year now" Aelita asks knowing Jeremy would not say something this stupid.
"Sorry, I just forgot."
Aelita still felt a little suspicious about Jeremy's behavior.
Yumi and Ulrich were looking over their normal world. Yumi felt a little weird today.
"Ulrich, does today fell a little weird for you today? Or is that just me?" Yumi asks.
"No, I feel fine. We just completed the mission of defeating the security program for good. He ain't coming back" Ulrich responds.
"It's weird. I could've sworn just the other day I found out I was pregnant."
"That's crazy. I would like a family one day, but not at this moment."
"It still feels like I am, but I know I'm not."
Yumi could not shake this feeling, but she had too. She was not pregnant and wasn't going to be anytime soon.
Odd was working in his studio, working on his art and films. But the strange thing is that all his canvas' and films were all blank. Odd was certain that he had things on it before he left on hos spy mission. He was going to ask Melissa about this, but he began to think if she erased the film, she couldn't erase the art.
"This is really strange. How is all my work missing?" Odd asked himself as Melissa walked in behind him.
"Hey Odd, everything okay?" She asked him.
"Yeah, I'm just wondering, how is my work missing?"
"They could just be new canvases and blank films you know."
"Are you sure? I thought for sure that I had stuff saved before I left on that friends vacation of ours."
"I'm not so sure. Trust me, they were blank and still are."
Alarms were going off all over the place. Evil William found it hard to keep control of the machine as well as keeping a stable condition of the Lyoko Spies minds. He feared eventually their mental willpower will eventually break them out of the dream state he installed for them. He needed more time to recover what he lost.
"I need more time. I cannot let a key victory like this get away from me" Evil William stated as he tried to resolve the issue.
Agent Chris was in no better state. He had no way to fight back against the man.
"You thought you could stela from me and get away with it," he kicked Chris. "You were wrong!" He kicked him again.
"Project Carthage was a retired government program. You had no ownership over it" Agent Chris explained to him as he tried to pick himself up.
"I created it," He kicked him again knocking him down. "So, that means I have full control over it."
"You don't know what you're doing. If he returns, this world will suffer for eternity."
"So be it." He kicked Chris again and Chris hit the emergency override, unlocking the doors. He quickly grabbed his gun and ran out the door. He shot the switch, locking the doors. "Run all you want Chris. I WILL FIND YOU!"
Chris ran away from his office. His face was covered in blood and bruise marks from the beating he just took. He needed the help of his Lyoko Spies to stop this threat.
Evil William was able to restabilize the environment the Lyoko Spies were in. He sighed in relief and relaxed as he continued to look for the data.
In the dream state of the Lyoko Spies, they were convinced that nothing was a miss. The thoughts they were having earlier were all gone. Evil William completely erased their thoughts from this dream world. They were living in trap world, much different from a simulation bubble on Lyoko.
Agent Chris made it where his spies were in the agency. As he approached them, he collapsed, but still conscious.
"Director Chris! What happened?" A spy asked him.
"We got an intruder in my office" Agent Chris told them.
"We'll get him and kill him for this!"
"No! I know a few who can help. Just lockdown the building and find these four." He shoed them the four he needed.
"We'll do it sir."
The lockdown was initiated, and building went dark.
"You think you can keep me in here Chris. We'll see about that" The man said as he planned his escape before Chris arrived with reinforcements.
The Lyoko Spies all remained in a dream state as they all went to sleep in the new world. There was only one thing off, they couldn't dream. This all concerned them. They all woke up and started to search around to see if anything else was different.
Aelita looked around saw nothing out of the ordinary. There was one thing missing from her home. The picture that Odd drew for Jeremy. Due to it being in Jeremy's memory more that Aelita's, a replica could not be created.
"Where's the picture?" Aelita said silently.
Yumi and Ulrich both looked through where they lived. Yumi noticed one thing that was missing, her wedding ring.
"Ulrich, the ring is missing" Yumi told him.
Evil William heard this and looked at Yumi's hands and saw she had her wedding ring on.
"Dammit" he said. There was no way he would come back from this.
Odd went looking through his house, looking in his studio for his work. He then noticed something that he didn't before. All of his work was missing.
"Okay, now this is weird" Odd said quietly to himself.
The Lyoko Spies all texted each other to meet up. They all got dressed and moved towards the meeting spot. Evil William almost got what he needed. The Lyoko Spies all met with each other.
"Anyone one of you notice weird things happening?" Ulrich asked.
"More like stuff missing" Aelita responded.
"Same. All my work was gone" Odd added.
"My wedding ring is missing. Even the box Ulrich got for it" Yumi said next.
"The picture Odd drew is missing" Aelita said last.
They all knew something was wrong.
Agents were dispatched around the city and Agent Chris was taken to a hospital under protection around his room with snipers on the roof. There was no chance of anybody getting to him. Anyone who requested to see him was to be searched first. Agent Chris was all stitched up and was moved into stable condition before the night fell and he was still resting as the doctors moved him to a room with his agents watching over him.
The agents noticed something weird going on around the place the Lyoko Spies went missing. They found an entrance to where the Lyoko Spies were being kept. They descended down onto the sewers and found them all hooked up to a machine. Evil William had disappeared.
Evil William was back in his disguise as he returned to null island to prepare his second and hopefully his final attempt of resurrecting the security program. "Time to come back my master."
The agents disconnected the Lyoko Spies from the machine and the world around them shattered and they were all blinded by a white light as the dream world they were in was destroyed. A few minutes after they all woke up and found themselves surrounded by agents.
"Tell me we weren't in a coma for two years and are being arrested by the government" Ulrich asked.
"Agent Chris asked us to find you. We have an issue" a spy said.
The man escaped form the spy agency building and went to try to find a new way to try to kill Chris and get his project back.
The next morning, Agent Chris woke up to the Lyoko Spies all in his room. "Nice to see you all again."
"You wanted to see us?" Aelita said.
"Yeah, the man who ran Project Carthage is back. But apparently, he wants the security program to be resurrected. He believes that if resurrected, it will still contain the part of Project Carthage we used to create it."
"Impossible. When Jeremy made the program that allowed us to defeat him, we also eradicated the Project Carthage program within him."
"He doesn't know that. You have to find a way to get rid of Evil William…permanently."
"That the thing, we don't know where he is or what he is doing."
"Considering how the agents found us, it looks like he found us first" Ulrich added.
"It just means you have to move fast. He will come back, and if the security program also returns, then let's just say there will be more problems then last time he came into the real world" Agent Chris said.
"I guess our new mission is to find Evil William" Aelita said.
A.N. – The man is out for revenge. Evil William also has his sights set on resurrecting the security program and almost ready for his grand return. The next chapters will revolve around Evil William and the Lyoko Spies and Agent Chris as he encounters the man once again.
