Summary: A cat has been cursed since she was a kit to never stop growing, and to be immune to old age. Is it possible for StarClan to help her with her predicament?
Yeah. This one is a kind of weird idea. Most of the details aren't planned out, either. However, I have a vague image in my head of how to do this, and I'm doing it here. Right now. Right below this.
Enjoy!
"Stormkit!" a voice called out quietly. Stormkit opened one eye to see a shadow of a cat figure coming in the den, but it was the middle of the night and she was too tired to think much about it. The figure called out to her again. "Whaaaat," she moaned.
The figure snorted. "Kits. Have so much energy in the morning and it just all goes away at night. Anyways, I have a present for you!"
Stormkit's eyes became wide open. "What present?" she asked.
"If you want to find out, come with me..." the figure teased.
"But my mother-"
"Don't worry, she's asleep. She won't notice. Come on!"
Stormkit stood up shakily and followed along, willingly. The figure, which Stormkit had yet to see any of, led her through twists and turns in the forest, eventually coming to a clearing. Stormkit gulped. Her mother told her that all bad things happened in clearings.
"Guess what your present is!" the figure prompted.
"Uhhhhhh... I don't know."
"Your present is... good night." The figure waved its paw around (what was that supposed to mean?) and without any thoughts, Stormkit fell asleep.
A second later, she woke up back in the den. Whew, it was all just a dream, she thought. But she felt weird, like something real had happened.
Was it a dream or real?
24 moons later
"Stormrunner, it's like you keep growing!" Cherryfall joked. "Soon you'll need a den for only yourself!" Her mate, Ashpelt, just nodded.
And isn't that the truth, Stormrunner thought, grimly. She had long since figured out what happened to her in that dream back when she was a kit. A cat from the Dark Forest (probably Tigerstar, he had a habit of appearing of nothing in dreams apparently) had essentially came up to her and cursed her with the paw waving. It was evident when she was bigger than her father. It wasn't a matter of "oh, she's inheriting her father's size" at that point. And no-it didn't go away after Tigerstar was killed.
At least it was a small amount. If it was any more of a rate, then she'd be crushing the Clans right then. It was already bad enough-she was already 2 nests wide when curled up. She was four across when she was laying down.
"Hey, is something wrong?" Ashpelt asked her.
"No, just thinking," she replied. "Sorry."
"It's fine," Ashpelt told her. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have an apprentice to train." Ashpelt left the den without another word.
"Seriously," Cherryfall asked, "what's up? You're way bigger than Bramblestar."
Stormrunner sighed. "I guess I'll tell you... you know, you're my best friend and all that."
"Is there something you've been keeping from me?"
"Yes, actually. I'm sorry. I've been keeping it from you because if it confuses me. If it confuses me, it will definitely confuse you."
"Well, what is it?"
"When I was a kit, I had a dream of a pitch-black figure of a cat leading me to a clearing. Now I'm certain that it was Tigerstar. He cursed me, evidently, and now I won't stop growing."
"That's rough. Wait-isn't Tigerstar dead? The curse should have gone away."
"It didn't. I consulted Jayfeather, that's how I got the info that it was Tigerstar. He also told me that Tigerstar put a permanent curse, one that can never go away unless some cat reverses it, on me. He said that it was the highest of the highest of curses StarClan-or the Dark Forest for that matter-can give, which means only the highest of the highest level of StarClan cats can reverse it."
"Ooh," Cherryfall cringed. Does she know more than I do? "Why don't you go to StarClan and try to reverse it?"
"That's crazy!" she replied, causing Cherryfall to dip her head.
"But... it just might work," Stormrunner amended. "Do you want to come with me?"
Sure!" Cherryfall said enthusiastically.
I am intent on using my cat in every story I make, and you can't convince me otherwise. However, I seem to be cursed like Stormrunner: cursed to give away all of the future details for my main story! Haha. This time it was Ashpaw's warrior name (even though that's minor).
I feel like this could be an actual story, Stormrunner and Cherryfall traveling to the Moonpool to try to restore Stormrunner's former size. However, it just seems SO SHORT in my head... any ideas? Feel free to pm me if you have any.
Be sure to leave a review if you enjoyed, and have a nice day!
