A/N : Hello Silver Degenerate here, welcome back to another chapter of my story. I'm surprise that you guys liked the first chapter of my story. I personally thought that the plot was slightly rushed. Anyway, let's start the story.
Shirou couldn't help but to mentally berated himself for getting himself into this situation as he stares directly into the sword that's being pointed at him by Nonaka.
He was so careless.
In the last three months since his arrival in this world, Shirou have encountered some people who are capable of using magic. However, he was too focused with the non-humans threat to the point where he forgot that there are also powerful humans in this world that are capable of using similar magical powers like him.
And now, due to his carelessness, he's now being confronted by one of those powerful humans.
Looking at their current situation, Shirou predicted there's a high probability that a fight might broke up between him and Nonaka if he didn't treat this tense situation carefully.
Judging from Nonaka's firm stance, Shirou can tell that she's a trained fighter, and by analysing the sword in her hand, he also gained a better grasp at Nonaka's fighting skill and also about her sword.
The sword that Nonaka held in her hands is called Sakuya. It is a magical sword that possesses the power of the mountain spirit. Nonaka received this sword since she turned fifteen, and she's been using her magical sword to battle against lesser demons for a year now.
With this information that he gained by analysing her sword, Shirou now knew that Nonaka truly is a trained swordmen. However, compared to him who have inherited EMIYA's skills, Nonaka is pretty much still an amateur warrior.
So, if he really did have to fight against her in sword battle, his chances of winning against her is still high.
But, despite all that. He still hope that he can somehow solved the situation between them peacefully.
Not only did he not want to get involved in unnecessary battles that will only gets him unwanted attention, but he also did not want to expose himself to the demons in this school.
Who knows what will those demons do to him if they finds out that he's not an ordinary human.
However, if he really have no other choice but to engage in a fight against Nonaka in this school, then he have to make sure not to use any of his destructive weapons since he don't want to accidentally blowing up the school. That means no magical weapons, no Noble Phantasms, and definitely no turning his weapons into Broken Phantasm.
Kanshou and Bakuya alone should be sufficient enough to be used against her.
After Shirou was done with his mental checklist, he turned back to Nonaka and answered her. "This may be difficult to believe, but I am a human. Though, I don't know who you are or why you are pointing your sword at me...you should know that I don't attack someone unless they threaten someone that I care about. That, or I am attacked myself."
He then lifted his chin, defiant. "Basically, I have no Intention in harming the normal students here or the ordinary people in this town. I give you my word on that."
To be blunt, Shirou really couldn't back down to her right now.
No, he had to show her that he's not someone that she can messed with.
...Then again, he also didn't want to antagonize her either...
Well, hopefully he found a decent middle ground.
Meanwhile, Nonaka was completely silent while she pondering over Shirou's words.
...Was he really a human?
No, that couldn't be true, right? The boy might look like a human, but the aura that she sensed from him tells her otherwise.
He feels like a human, but for some reason he strangely also felt like a spirit at the same time.
Humans didn't normally possesses such an ambigue magical energy signature like that.
Unless...if Shirou is a Sacred Gear possessor.
That could explained Shirou's strange spiritual energy.
But more than that, did this 'human' known as Shirou Emiya pose a threat to the humans in the area?
Nonaka's thoughts raced around this...person's strange mixed auras and its possible implications. As well her duty in this academy.
Her Faction...The Hero Tribe sent her to this academy as an 'observer', which gave her two important responsibilities; to watch over the two high-class devils who governed this town while keeping a lookout for stray devils, and eliminating them if required.
As was her duty as a 'hero'.
...That being said, she has recently received two more objectives by her faction's leadership.
To find and determine whether the strange energy signal that a sensor of theirs has picked up near Kuoh Town was dangerous to humanity or not, and to keep an eye out for the last descendant of the original Lucifer.
The Hero Tribe's duty must be fulfilled for the sake of humanity, which it has safeguarded for two thousand years as the best line of defense against the supernatural.
The organization was said to have been founded by the God of the Bible and has since spread across the world to continue their mission in secrecy, none of the supernatural factions were aware of their presence, but they were aware of the heroes that they created throughout history.
They were where humans with Sacred Gears were supposed to go if they wanted to fight instead of live normal lives.
Things have changed however...
The introduction of the devil's evil piece system has made recruiting new blood difficult, as many devils have snatched up any human with talent or a Sacred Gear like collectibles.
The Hero Tribe, thus, had to keep better vigilance over the devils and the other supernatural factions to prevent their fellow humans from being reincarnated into what they saw as a slavery system.
A sentiment that Nonaka nominally agreed with.
Now, with the existence of this strange man with two different aura, there was another point of concern to the heroes of this world, one that, given their already difficult circumstances, they couldn't let pass.
Which was why the young woman continued her intense stare, finally moving her sword away from his face after a few more tense moments. A green aura appearing on her arm once more, which took her armor and sword away from her.
"I will trust your word for now, Emiya-san. But if you give me a reason to doubt your sincerity...then I, Nonaka Yuki of the Hero Tribe will end you myself." Nonaka Yuki stated with utmost certainty.
After all, she was well-trained, and she was sure that she could deal with whatever this boy could throw at her.
Her warning to him was not really for her own benefit either, but more for the ordinary humans around them.
For the sake of humanity.
That was the duty of a hero after all.
Shirou for his part can only sighed in relief because this confrontation didn't escalate into a battle. He feels relieved because he didn't have to show his hand in a school filled with supernatural beings.
"Understood, Nonaka, I promise you that I won't cause any trouble here! You don't have to worry about a thing." Shirou stated, in the hopes that she would see that he is not a threat to the normal students in this school.
Nonaka didn't bother to respond as she turned around to leave the rooftop, heading towards her next class since school was still ongoing. She just needed to make sure that Shirou wasn't a threat before he could be allowed to leave the premises.
Meanwhile, Shirou watched the bluenette left, leaving him alone in the rooftop all by himself to think over occurance that just happened to him moments ago.
He really couldn't believe that he had to experience this kind of incident on his first day at school.
He did not expect that there would be people in this world who would be able to sense the Heroic Spirit power that inherited from EMIYA. And he didn't expect that that person would be none other than Yuki Nonaka who was his new classmate.
When he first met Yuki, he already had a hunch that she's not an ordinary person at the very first moment he saw her. However, she didn't strike him as a sensory type warrior, so he was quite surprised when he found out that she can sensed the Heroic Spirit EMIYA power that dwell within him.
He had to be careful in acting around Yuki from now on. Because he's sure that she will be keeping a close eyes on him from now on.
One wrong move, and she will immediately branded him as an extermination target.
He had nothing to be afraid of Nonaka because he knew that he can still beat her in combat, but her connection to this so called 'Hero Tribe' worried him.
The smart thing for him to do right now is not do anything that could get him to Nonaka's bad side. At least not until he finds out more about Nonaka and this 'Hero Tribe' thing.
"This isn't how I imagine my first day at school would be." Shirou said a sigh as he decided to return to his class since his appetite to eat his lunch has been ruined with this event. And not to mention that lunch break is almost over.
In class, Shirou immediately sat on his chair and looked at the sky from the window beside him. Shortly after, the door shifted and entered a woman with dark purple hair wearing Teacher's clothes and carrying a book with Maths on its cover.
All the students went straight to their seats and sat quietly. "Today we will have an impromptu test, remember! No cheating on this, okay?" the teacher ordered in a sweet and cheerful tone but seemed creepy.
Some of the students looked normal and some looked it was Shirou's turn to get the exam sheet, the teacher didn't give it right away.
"You're that new student? Are you able to follow this test, otherwise you may not follow it since it's your first time here ..."
"It's okay, Sensei. I can do it" said Shirou interrupting the teacher's words.
The teacher gave Shirou the exam sheet and returned to her seat. Of the students who took the exam, some did it quietly and some of them seemed very frustrated, especially the Brown-haired Student who sat a few tables in front of Shirou.
"DAMN, I CANNOT ANSWER IT!"
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
The sound of the Academy bells indicates that study time has ended and it's time for students at Kouh Academy to go home.
"All right students, collect your exam sheets to my table and you can go home" said the teacher.
Then the students walked forward carrying their exam sheets that were used to answer the Mathematics test questions and collected them on the teacher's desk.
When the class was empty and leaving only Shirou and the teacher, only then Shirou walked to the front carrying his bag and exam sheets. Shirou put his exam sheet on the teacher's table and went out of the classroom.
After leaving the school, Shirou didn't go straight to his apartment, but instead he went to a small restaurant not too far from the shopping district. This is because he has a part-time job at the restaurant as one of the cooks this afternoon.
Thankfully, the restaurant where he works was only several blocks away from Kuoh Academy, so it only took him around twenty minutes to arrive there.
After he arrived at the restaurant where he worked, Shirou opened the door of the restaurant and he was a little surprised when he saw that the restaurant was already full of customers when he entered the restaurant.
"Ah ... finally my favorite cook has came!"
Shirou, who suddenly heard his name being called by someone, turned his gaze towards the voice, and his two pairs of amber eyes looked at the mustachio old man who was busy working with the cash register. And the old man was none other than his own boss.
"Come on! Don't just stand there...we have a lot of customers who wants to savor your cooking today. Get going now!" The mustachio old man said while mentioning to Shirou to go straight to work in the kitchen.
"Y-yes, Yazuma-san! Just let me change into my uniform, and I'll get to work right away." Shirou said as he went to the staff's locker room and get change to his cooking uniform.
After getting changed, Shirou went straight to the kitchen where he begins to work on one of his greatest talent.
Cooking heavenly food.
Of all the talents that Shirou had, his skill in cooking was the one talent Shirou was the most proud of.
At first, he didn't think too much about his cooking skills and assumed that his cooking was ordinary because in the past, the only ones who used to eat his dishes were Miyu, Sakura, Julian, and also Kiritsugu. The later two had never even bother in giving a comment whether his cooking is good or not, and the only person who ever gave a genuine about his cooking was none other than Miyu and Sakura.
It was only when he started working at this restaurant that he began to realize that his talent for cooking was special. Even the boss himself said that the restaurant was bustling with customers thanks to Shirou's excellent cooking.
At first, he thought that his boss was just giving him a compliment so that he would keep working at the restaurant, because in the beginning, when he first worked here, this restaurant was really short of workers. And it was only after he saw the interesting expressions of the customers who ate his cooking that he finally realized that they genuinely did love his cooking. And since then Shirou began to feel proud of his talent in cooking.
According to his boss, the food he cooked was equivalent to the dishes that famous chefs usually cooked. Even if that was the case, he knew the reason why his cooking was so great was because his cooking skills has been exponentially improved since he inherited all of EMIYA's skills.
Shirou muses at that thought before quickly banished it from his minds. This isn't the time to day dreaming.
After all, he have a job to do right now.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Time passed quickly and without being noticed the day had turned into night.
In the forest area behind Kuoh Academy main school building, there is an old building with a small clock tower just above the roof.
The building used to be the Kuoh school building before the new school building was constructed.
Ever since the new school building was constructed and Kuoh Academy turned into a co-ed school. The old school building is no longer being used.
Because of that, ever since Rias Gremory and her peerage moved to Kuoh Town and start studying in Kuoh Academy, Rias and her peerage reconstructed the old school building and turn it as the new official Occult Research Club building as well as their base of operation.
Although the building has been reconstructed, the exterior and interior design of the building remain the same as its old design. The only thing that has been changed was the club room interior design.
The club room interior is a wood-paneled room with Victorian-style couches and chairs along the walls. One side is set up to be able to be used as a bath, and a large Gremory Family magic circle is also there to allow teleportation to and from clients.
At the moment, while most her peerage members are currently away to fulfill the wish of their clients, Rias and her 'Queen' Akeno remains at the club room to work on the paper works that they received from their previous clients and also a report from their familiars who have informed them that a group of Fallen Angels has been spotted conducting an illegal operation in their territory.
Normally, both her and Sona as the owner of this town are allowed to execute any tresspassers who's conducting any illegal operations within their territory. However, to eliminate the fallen angels who have been carrying out illegal operations in their city, it might be a little difficult because according to the reports they got from their familiars. The fallen angels were seen taking refuge in an old church that had been neglected for ten years. Even though the church had been neglected for a long time Rias, Sona, and also their respective peerages still could not enter the church arbitrarily. Because even though the location of the church is within their territory, the church is still the domain of the angel faction.
So, if they insist on entering the church without having a valid reason. They were worried that doing so would cause tension between the Underworld Faction and the Heaven Faction.
"Those fallen angels are just getting worse. We have to do something about this right away, Rias. If we don't act soon, they will continue to do as they please in our territory." Akeno said, giving advice to her king, Rias, that she should immediately take action to solve the problem of the fallen angels acting up in their territory.
"I know that, Akeno. However, we can't be careless in our actions. As you know, those fallen angels took refuge in that abandoned church. Even though the church is within our territory, we can't enter the church just like that. Because even though it has been neglected, the church is still the domain of the Heaven Faction. " Rias replied to Akeno's words while explaining why they shouldn't be careless in their actions to deal with the fallen angels acting up in their territory.
"Then...what do you suggest we should do, Rias?" Akeno said, asking for a solution to her charge.
Rias didn't respond to Akeno immediately as begin to ponder on what should they do to take care of the Fallen Angel that's currently causing trouble in their city.
According to the reports they got from their familiars, the number of fallen angels infiltrating Kuoh City was not that many, plus these angels were only low-class angels, so they weren't a formidable opponent for them.
However, even so, the fallen angels turned out to be quite clever and agile, so that Rias and Sona had a little trouble tracking their positions when they were doing their activities outside the church where they had fled.
After thinking for a while and not coming up with any ideas, Rias finally replied, "For the time being, we should keep an eye on their movements and wait for the right moment to strike."
Akeno can only sighed in exasperation after hearing her "King's" reply. Somehow, she already know that she would said that.
"Understood, Buchou!" Akeno answered simply before she went back on reviewing the paper work in her hands.
After their short conversation, Rias and Akeno went back to work to finish their paperwork which had piled up.
Some time later, the two of them finally succeeded in completing all of their paperwork. And to cool their heads, they decided to take a break over a cup of peppermint tea.
"Glad that's taken care of. Now, I'm starting to understand why my brother hates paper works so much." Rias commented while sympathizing with her brother who had to deal with paperwork every day because of his important position in the underworld.
Akeno who saw her 'King' start lamenting about her older brother, smiles mischieviously as she saw a chance to tease Rias appear right in front of her. "Ara ara, does little Ria-tan is worried for her onii-sama?"
Rias nearly choked on her tea in surprise after hearing Akeno's teasing remark, and she had no choice but to spit out the liquid from her mouth before it went down into the wrong pipe.
Meanwhile, Akeno couldn't hold the giggle from escaping her mouth after seeing her "King's" unlady-like demeanor, much to Rias annoyance.
"S-shut up Akeno! Stop laughing! And don't call me with that embarassing nickname ever again!" Rias demanded while flustering in embarrassment.
"Ara? But I thought you liked that nickname, Buchou?" Akeno said, continuing to tease Rias while putting an innocent face.
"T-that was a long time ago, Akeno! I'm a grown up young lady now. I'm no longer that little child who likes to be called with that nickname." Rias proclaimed while putting a confident expression. But, the blush on her face says otherwise.
"Ara...is that so, Buchou? But, I remembered that you secretly taking pleasure when Sirzech-sama addressed you with that nickname the last time we visited the Underworld." Akeno commented, still pretending to look innocent while continuing to add more gasoline into the fire.
The blush in Rias' face deepened at Akeno's remark, now her face completely resemble the colour of her hair.
"E-enough of that, Akeno!" Rias shouted, demanding the ravenette beauty to stop with her teasing spree. "Geez, you really like to tease me a lot didn't you?" Rias said, accusing her friend while giving her a stink eye.
"Why of course, Buchou!" Akeno admitted shamelessly with a smile. "But don't blame me, it's your own fault for having such funny and cute reaction after being teased."
Rias pouted after hearing her friend's remark before turning her face away with a huff. Her mood has become significantly soured thanks to her "Queen's" relentless teasing.
Meanwhile, Akeno noticing Rias' growing annoyance, finally decided to draw the line and stop her teasing spree. After all, now is the time for her to report about her recent discovery to her peerage leader.
"Anyway, Rias, although it was fun teasing you and all, there's something that I need to tell you." Akeno said in a serious tone while looking at the red-headed demon.
Seeing Akeno's gaze that looked serious, Rias's expression immediately turned serious as well. She already knew that if her 'Queen' had a serious facial expression like that, it meant that she had something important to discuss with her.
"Judging from the look on your face. Looks like the thing you want to convey is quite serious." Rias said while looking at Akeno with a serious gaze while refilling her tea cup.
"It is." Akeno confirmed. "Did you know that our school just had a new transfer student?"
"Not really. I just found out that our school got new students after you mentioned it." Rias answered Akeno's question casually. "Why? Is there something inparticular about this new student?"
"There is actually." Akeno reply in confirmation.
"Really?"
"Yeah." Akeno nodded in respond. "His name is Shirou Emiya and I heard that he comes from London. And I know for sure that he's not an ordinary human being."
Rias rised an eye brow as her interest suddenly piqued after hearing her Queen's statement about the new student known as Shirou Emiya.
"Really? How do you know that?" Rias asked while leaning forward slightly from her coach.
"That's because I met him earlier this morning when he accidentally bumped into me when he was searching for the Principal's office." Akeno said while explaining to Rias how she met the new student. "Through that brief contact, I immediately sensed something strange about him."
"Something strange? What do you mean by that, Akeno?" Rias asked, she looks genuinely confuse but also interested at this particular topic at the same.
Akeno gave Rias a troubled look before answering, "I don't exactly know how should I put it, but all I can say is that, he has an aura that makes him feels like as if he's a Spirit instead of a human."
After hearing her Queen's explaination, Rias' expression turn into a frown as she contemplated Akeno's words. "I see. That's is quite strange indeed."
As a supernatural being herself, Rias had heard the theory about humans having the aura of a supernatural being. And humans like that are usually referred to as half blood.
Such humans do exist in this world, but such existences are usually quite rare and only a few actually exist.
That's why Rias felt shocked when she heard that the new student enrolling in their high school was someone who could potentially be half blood.
This new student would make a good new additional member to her peerage, but also a potential danger in her territory. Which is why, before she act and try to recruit him. It would be wise if she look for more information about him so that she can get to know him better. Because at this moment, he knew almost nothing about this boy named Shirou Emiya other than the general information that she could get from the school Headmaster later.
"If what you say is true, then there is a possibility that this Shirou Emiya is a half blood ... just like you before you get reincarnated as my queen, Akeno." Rias told the ravenette beauty who simply hummed in respond. "By the way, is there anything else inparticular about this new student aside for his potential status as a half blood?"
At her King's question, Akeno then starts to ponder while trying to remember what else that she knows about Shirou Emiya from their short meeting earlier this morning. "Well, from the short meeting that I had with him earlier this morning, he seems like a nice and well-manered person. And regarding his power, besides having an aura of a spirit and an impressive amount of magical energy, I don't have anything else that I can tell you about him."
Hearing the explaination from her queen, Rias went into deep thought as she considering what she should regarding this Shirou Emiya guy.
Judging from Akeno's positive explaination regarding the new student, he sounded like a decent person with quite promising power potential. He would make good new additional member for her peerage along with that boy, Issei Hyodou.
But, just like what she have mentioned before. There's still so much that they didn't know about the new student. And she don't want to act recklessly, so before she decides what to do with him, it would be best if she...they get to know him better.
With that Rias has come to a decision.
"Judging from the way how you describe him, Akeno. I think he seems to be quite a decent person. He would make a good new additional member for our peerage along with that Hyodou kid. Unfortunately, there's still so much that we don't know about him. For now we'll make him an observation target. Try to get as much as information about Shirou Emiya and have Koneko-chan to keep a close eye on him." Rias said as she gives her order to her queen to be relayed to the members of her peerage.
"Understood Buchou. In that case I'll inform the others and excuse myself for tonight." Akeno said, Acknowledging her king's order and ask permission to excuse herself out for tonight.
"Of course. Thanks for your hard work Akeno, I'll see you tomorrow." With a smile, Rias gave her permission to her queen.
Akeno smiles back toward her king in respond. She give Rias a quick bow before leaving the club room.
Rias watched her queen left before sighing. She got up from the sofa and give her body a strech. Today is quite a busy day for her as well as her peerage members. Just like the usual, they spend most of their day working on granting their clients requests, filling the paperworks, and exterminating the strays that have infiltrated their territory.
Yup, it was quite a tiring day, and although they're devils they still need their daily night rest.
"Alright then, guess it's time to call it a day."
Rias said as she prepare to go to bed.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
The day is getting late, after working for five hours as a part-time cook at the restaurant where he works, it's finally time for Shirou to go home.
"I'm heading off, Yazuma-san." Shirou called out, the magus waving in passing to the owner of the restaurant.
"Sure!" the mustachioed owner called out, nodding his head from the counter, where he was dutifully counting the money from today's earnings. "Becareful on the road okay!"
"I will." Shirou called out. He steps out of the restaurant and make his way back to his house.
As he walks, Shirou couldn't help but to reminince of today's event, especially his confrontation with Nonaka who turns out to be a 'hero'.
He had no idea where did it all went wrong.
Shirou was so sure that ever since he arrived in this world, he had been very careful in hiding his identity as a magus. He never even once perform any of his magecraft, no matter how small and untraceable it is, in the public. And when he came to school earlier this day, he already made sure to suppress his magical energy to the point where it shouldn't be possible to be noticed by anyone, not even Nonaka should be able to notice it.
So how?
How did Nonaka managed to find out that he's not a normal person?
Is the existence of Heroic Spirit EMIYA dwelling within him was what give him away?
While pondering over this whole thing, Shirou's attention return to the real world when he suddenly noticed that for some reason the atmosphere in Kuoh Town tonight is unsually quiet, unlike the usual.
Shirou took out his smartphone from his pocket and turn on the screen. He frown when he saw that the time displayed on his cellphone screen was still seven o'clock.
This is so strange.
He have lives long enough in this town to know that usually around this hours, the town would usually still crowded with people doing nighttime activities. Which is why he find it odd that the usually crowded town became this quiet so suddenly.
What's going on with the town tonight?
Is there a new curfew rule or something?
A pained cry caught his attention, he turn his gaze towards a big building across the street that looks like an abandoned factory. His intuition is telling him that the origin of that pained cry is coming from that building.
As if on autopilot, he found himself racing towards the abandoned factory, urged on by the cries for help, pulling up short just as he reached the scent of blood, his eyes narrowing as he stared at the steel door of the factory's entrance.
Shirou opened the door, stepping inside he realized that the factory's interior is pretty dark, he barely can even see ten feet in front of him. But, despite this obstacle, Shirou decides to press on as the sound of a battle reach his ears.
Shirou ventured furthur inside the factory, following the sound of battle he eventually reach a wide space area with bright lighting from the moonlight coming in through the broken roof.
Hiding himself behind one of the machinery, Shirou witnessed a battle between two girls against an army of demons.
Standing back-to-back against one another, those two girls were amidst a virtual sea of demons of all shapes and sizes. Which were obviously here with deadly intentions.
Among them, the shorter one was a short girl with childish features, with very risque clothing...if it could be called that anyways.
She wore what looked like a black leather top that only covered her up to her ribs and two black straps crisscrossing to make an 'X' over her stomach.
She also wore pink and white striped stockings, as well as a pair of, quite visible, black underwear.
Her long silver hair, which reached to the middle of her back, was flailing around as she jerked her head around her, and her purple eyes were glistening sharply at the dangerous situation that she found herself in.
Shirou frowned, narrowing his eyes, studying her closer as he noticed something framing the crown of her head.
...
Wait, were those horns?
Shirou couldn't help but do a double-take at the sight of the little horns on the girl's head, but quickly snapped himself out of it.
Now really wasn't the time to stare.
So, taking chance that was given to him in the apparent lull in the fighting, the magus focused his attention on the other figure who, he assumed, to be the silverette's partner.
The other girl was far more, physically at least, likely to be around his age if not younger, and thankfully didn't make him feel like he was committing a crime by staring.
She had vibrant red hair, which was partially pulled into two separate pigtails that were held together with a pair of long black strings, with the rest of her hair flowing freely down to her waist, framing her pink eyes.
In terms of physique, she was practically the polar opposite of the other girl; as she had quite the voluptuous body, which was contained in a pink top that was hanging on her shoulders, and a frilly blue skirt to complete her ensemble.
All in all, the duo was quite the interesting pair. One that most wouldn't see everyday.
And they were both clearly under great distress, since they were up against multiple monsters on all sides.
Shirou stared at the two of them for a moment, stuck in indecision.
He knows that he should probably help them, but...
'Is that the right thing to do?' Shirou muttered lowly while wondering whether he should proceed with what he's about to do or just turn a blind eye.
To be honest, he was feeling very confused now, he don't know what course of action he should take. Part of him wanted to just go and help the two girls who's obviously in great distress right now, but a part of him also telling him that he don't have to involve himself into this whole situation.
...And it's because he don't deserve to act like a hero anymore.
Long ago Shirou have decided to forsaken his ideals and dream to become a Hero of Justice and even willingly turn himself against the world all for the sake of saving one person.
And that person was none other than his own sister, Miyu.
He have sacrificed everything he had for the sake of Miyu's life and happiness. He even willingly turn himself as a villain and basically took away the only chance of salvation for his dying world by sending Miyu to a different world.
Which is why he wonder,...does someone like him still have the right to act like a hero when he have decided to become a villain in the first place?
Deep down...he already know that he no longer have the right to be a Hero anymore. He don't have the right to take up that ideals and dream once more even if he want to.
However...
Does he need to be a Hero first in order to save a life?
No, definitely not.
'That's right! What the hell am I thinking? I don't have to be a Hero or any grand title to save a person's life!' Shirou muttered as he finally come to a realization.
He hasn't realizes it before, but since the very beginning, ever since he became an Emiya, he have always been fighting for the sake of someone else.
It doesn't matter what he have became. Because whether he's a Hero or not, in his core , Shirou is still that same person who cares about saving lives.
Steeling himself, Shirou projected his signature melee weapon, the married twin swords Kanshou and Bakuya, and make his way to aid the two girls in distress.
One of the demons seemed to notice his existence when it sensed the magical energy from the used of his projection magecraft.
Turning its attention from the two girls, the demon charging in to intercept its new opponent. Unfortunately, the demon didn't last long as it was quickly slained when the faker severed the demon's head from its body.
Unsurprisingly, the magus didn't feel any symphaty towards the mindless monsters, as he felt nothing but blood lust from them.
Not wasting any time, Shirou moved on to his next target; it's a demon that has a pale complexion and red eyes that shines brightly in the darkness, the demon is shrouded in dark purple and it's wielding a big schyte as a weapon.
The demon hasn't noticed him yet even though he just killed one of its comrade, it seems that this demon is too focused on the girls to even noticed him. Which is a big mistake for this particular devil as Shirou quietly sneak behind the demon's back like an assassin and stab it with his white sword.
The demon briefly let out an agonizing Scream before Shirou decides to silence the demon by slitting its throat, and just like that, the demon fell lifelessly to the floor.
Unfortunately, the brief screaming from the dead demon reaper was enough to alert the other demons and the two girls of his presence.
And now, Shirou have became the center of attention as the demons and the two girls set their gaze at him.
From the looks that they gave him, he can see that they're slightly shocked for his sudden arrival.
That shock vanished for the monstrous creatures when they saw that two of their comrades were down, and who exactly was responsible.
Some of the demons quickly flew into a frenzy and charged at the magus.
Shirou remained unnervingly calm while staring at the charging demons with a passive look. He gets into his fighting stance, giving a few openings for the demons to exploit.
Ten frenzy demons jumped at him as they try to attack him all together from the front. They try to use their numbers in order to overwhelm him. It is a good idea. However, they were just too slow, and Shirou, using his Eye of the mind skill that he inherited from EMIYA, already manage to predict their attack pattern.
Moving in a speed that the demons couldn't follow, Shirou make a short work on the demons that tried to attack him by delivering a quick and precise attack towards their vital points.
And in just ten seconds, Shirou succesfully cut down every single demons that came towards him.
After taking care the demons that went after him, Shirou turn his gaze back towards the army of demons and saw that the demons have decided to split their numbers in to two groups in order to deal with him along with the two girls at once.
Most of the demons decided to attack him, using their great numbers as an advantage against him.
Shirou simply grinned at the sight of a horde of demons coming towards him with the intent to kill. By now they must have viewed him as a bigger threat that needs to be eliminated at all cost, remembering that he had defeated twelve of their comrades in just seconds.
Shirou quickly put on his fighting stance and prepared for another combat.
While waiting for his enemy to get close, he decide to take a moment to check on the two girls as he glance at them, only to noticed that the girls are still too busy gawking at him to the point where they didn't realize that some of the demons have decided to take advantage of their momentary distraction in order to launch a sneak attack on them.
"Hey watch out!" Shirou shouted at the two dumbstrucked girls of the incoming attack from the demons that came at them.
His warning have succesfully brought the two girls out of their reverie.
In alarm at the incoming attacks, they both moved to dodge one of the demon's's assault, but the redhead was too slow, and was stabbed by one of the demons's sharp claws right through her shoulder.
"Mio-sama!" the little silver-haired girl cried out, charging forward to engage the demons that tried to get to the red-headed girl, her face twisting in worry. "Hang in there!"
Shirou frowned after seeing what just happened to the red-headed girl, he then turned his gaze back towards the horde of demons that had come to attack him and glared at them with an angry look.
At first, when he decided to help the two women, Shirou had absolutely no intention of displaying any of his unique abilities other than his swordmanship. However, after seeing what happened to the red-haired girl just now, he realized that now was not the time to hold back.
Although these demons weren't such a difficult opponent for him, it was a different a story for the two girls as they are clearly struggling against these demons.
Not wanting for the silver-haired girl to suffer the same fate as her friend, Shirou eventually decided to show off one of his unique ability as he intended to end this fight right here and now.
"Trace On!" chanting the aria for his unique projection magecraft, Shirou proceed to traced dozens of low-ranking holy swords that floats behind him.
The demons stopped their advance towards Shirou when they saw dozens of holy swords suddenly appear out of thin air and forming a wall of steel that floats behind him.
Without wasting any time, Shirou, with his mental command, fired the entire holy sword that he had projected towards the demons who were still in a dumbfounded state.
When they came to their senses from their dumbfounded state, the demons who saw Shirou had launched his lethal attacks immediately tried to dodge the dozens of holy swords that were hurtling towards them at mach speed.
Unfortunately, the demons were too slow to avoid the onslaught of Shirou's holy swords barrage.
In the end, the demons were hit by Shirou's lethal attack. And they all died in a state where their bodies were filled with several holy swords embedded in their bodies.
After making sure that all of the demons are dead, Shirou then dematerialize his projections and turn his attention towards the silver-haired girl who's currently engaging the last enemy in melee combat, which he assumed to be the leader of the demons's army that they just defeated.
Seeing that the kid is struggling with the last enemy, Shirou moved to assist her. And while the last demon is still preoccupied with the scantily-dressed girl, he quickly projected Kanshou and Bakuya back into his hands as he moved at the demon in supersonic speed.
Ducking under the body of the strange hybrid of a spider and a woman, he sliced off each one of it's legs before the demon even realized what had happened.
When 'she' did however, it screamed out in pain and stumbled back on her stumps, giving the scantily-clad girl the opening that she needed.
The silverette then brought her small fist out and smashed her fist at the spider-woman's head, chrushing it in the process, practically taking it down and killing the demon instantly.
And, just like that, the little battle was over.
However, Shirou wasn't too focused on that, because after assiting the silver-haired girl by giving her the opening she needed to defeat the last demon, he moved towards the red-haired girl to check up on her wound.
He wasn't a medic by any means, but thankfully, he did have the basic knowledges thanks to Kiritsugu's teaching and also the shared knowledge that he had with his alternate-future self.
Taking a cursory glance, he quickly figured that the wound wasn't bad, it was superficial.
Still, she was unconscious, though he doubted that it had much to do with the attack itself.
As he was checking her out, he quickly noticed the dark bags there were under her eyes, making his lips flatten.
The girl was exhausted.
If she was already at the brink before she actually got stabbed, then that could have probably made her collapse thanks to sudden the pain, shocking her system enough to knock her out cold.
In short, she needed rest, desperately.
While this was happening, the silverette cautiously moved to the red-haired man's side, anxiously waiting for whatever he had to say.
The two of them were in a bad spot, so while she didn't trust him completely, he did prove to, at least, want them alive. Something that she couldn't say that a lot of people wanted.
More than that, he helped them fight off a lot of stray devils when it would have been easier to just stay out of the whole affair altogether.
Plus, if she really thought about it, she doubted she could really do anything to stop him anyway, since the skills he used to take out the insane devils were outside of her abilities.
...Unless she used her trump card, but she wasn't willing to risk it with Mio-sama in such a state.
"Your friend is alright, the wound on her shoulder is not that bad either. She just need some rest and have her wound cleaned. That's all." Shirou finally spoke with a small smile in reassurance.
The girl let out a sigh of relief at the news and nodded her thanks, moving to her young charge in order to pick her up with her strength.
In the process of this, she was going to thank their savior properly, before she froze up.
Shirou frowned at the silverette's sudden reaction, becoming wary of another attack. "What's wrong? Are there more of them?" He asked and proceed to use his strong sense of smell to track down enemies who may be hidden from their sight.
"No, no...it isn't that." the girl with the 'horns' replied, her eyebrows scrunching as she pondered on their bad position.
The reason that she was locking up was simple, the both of them were moving around during the night for good reason, unfortunately, as their last refuge was found out by the very stray devils that were hunting them down.
No doubt, to them, they were probably just like two tasty snacks to be devoured.
If they returned to their last refuge now...then she had no doubt that they would be attacked by even more stray devils, especially the ones that were instinctively looking to raise their own strength.
Her young charge was half-human, and the unique smell that she had thanks to her...ancestry, helped attract stray devils from quite the distance away to her, in the hopes that they could eat what they viewed as a delicacy.
Not only that, but the red-head was also unconscious...
Before she could fall into despair due to their situation, an idea sprang to mind idea, which could probably buy them some reprieve; a temporary home.
A safe place to rest.
Internally preparing herself, she quickly turned to their blond savior and pitched her idea. hopeful. "...My young charge is wounded and unconscious, while I am tired from the day's fight. Taking that into account, I'd like to ask you whether you could offer us a temporary home where we could recuperate. In return for this favor...I wouldn't mind doing whatever you want for payment."
Even as she was speaking, she was cringing at the possible degrading things that she may have to endure, well aware that offering herself up like that could very well remove the young man's inhibitions.
But...it was fine, as long as it was for her charge's sake.
She was her guardian, and even if she rarely conversed with her, she was still someone that she would guard, no matter what.
Which was why she was locking eyes intensely with the red-haired man, showing him her grim determination.
Shirou for his part, he didn't say anything to the silverette at first, because at the moment he's trying to discern what the silver-haired girl just said and considering whether he should help the two girls beyond this or not.
The smartest thing for him to do right now is probably decline the silver-haired girl's plea and not get involve with them any furthur than this.
His intuition is telling him that if he tried to help these two girls anymore than what he had just done a few seconds ago, then he afraid that he might also get dragged with whatever messy situation that they are currently dealing right now.
Not only that though, he was also worried that if he helped these two girls any further by giving them a temporary shelter to stay in, there would be a possibility that he would only get himself furthur in Nonaka's bad side.
That's because the two people that he's about to give a shelter are from the demon race as well. And he can tell that Nonaka is pretty hostile towards the supernatural beings judging from their confrontation earlier this afternoon during the school's lunch break.
There's no doubt in his mind that if Nonaka ever finds out that he's sheltering two demonic beings in his house, she would definitely make him into extermination target, due to him becoming a potential threat to the people of Kuoh Town by giving two demons a safe heaven in his home.
Although, he's confident that he can handle Nonaka on his own just fine, he really don't want to risk it by making an enemy out of her or else he might make a new enemy in the visage of this so called 'Hero Tribe' as well.
And if all that happens, it will greatly hindered his progress in trying to find a way to get himself into the world where Miyu ends up in.
There were a lot of risks and troubles that he would get if he decided to help these two girls even further.
However, seeing the dire condition they were currently experiencing, Shirou didn't have the heart to refuse their plea for help.
Among the duo; the red-head was out cold, and needed rest, while her...'guardian' was exhausted, leaving both incredibly vulnerable where they could get attacked again.
It would be heartless of him if he decides to decline their plea for help, but if he help them even further, he will get dragged into their problems.
Should he help them any more than this?
After pondering over a minute on what should he do, Shirou let out a heavy sigh as he finally come to a decision. "I can't believe I'm going to say this. But, alright... I'll help you guys out."
The silver-haired girl's eyes widened at the white-haired man's word. "Really?" She asked for confirmation, hoping against hope.
"Yes, now come on, we need to get out of here before anymore of those creatures comes out." Shirou said to the silverette as he scooped up the unconscious red-head, they left the abandoned factory, and turned to the direction of his home, walking towards it with the silver-haired girl following in tow.
As he walks side by side with the silver haired girl, he then realized that he still didn't know the names of the two girls he had helped.
"By the way who are you girls? I'm Shirou Emiya." Shirou said, introducing himself to the silver-haired girl.
"Huh? Oh...! Well, my name is Maria Naruse, and the unconscious girl you're carrying is my charge; Mio Naruse." the now dubbed Maria said, introducing herself and her 'charge' back to Shirou.
Shirou blinked at that, the red-head was Maria's charge?
Huh...
That's certainly strange. It seems like there's more about these two girls than what's meets the eye.
Shirou shooked his head and said, "Anyway, I hope you can stay awake for a little while longer. Because after we tend to your friend's wound, you and I are gonna have a little chat. There are some things that I want to ask from you."
"Of course." Maria answered in respond.
They continue their walk towards Shirou's house in silent, completely unaware of the fact that they are currently being watched by a certain female devil.
The devil in question is a tall woman with short white hair, tanned skin and golden/greenish eyes. She has ears like horns and a tail which resembles a rabbit, she wears a tight black dress that reveals her middle chest, black shoulder pads and gold lining, white stockings, and black long boots that has a golden lining.
The female devil narrowed her golden-greenish eyes as she looked at the white-haired young man who have decided to interfere with her business and take away her master's prey, which none other than the red-haired girl that's currently being carried by the mysterious white haired man.
Her plan to capture Mio Naruse now fell apart thanks to the white-haired man's interferance. Even though she had succeeded in cornering Mio Naruse and also her protector, and even she had also succeeded in trapping them with ambush attacks.
Mio Naruse should have been in her grasp by now, but as a result of the interferance from the mysterious young man, now her plan that had been prepared in as much detail as possible is in ruined.
If her master knows that she had failed to capture Mio Naruse and her 'guardian', he's definitely won't be happy about it.
"Master is not going to like this."
The female commented with a frown before dissappearing into a black mist.
To be continued...
A/N : Hello everyone, it's been a a few days ever since I post this story, although it was only one chapter, I can't believe that I will received this many story followers already. I'm surprised to be honest. Anyway, I have finally finished writing the second chapter, and I admit that I'm still borrowing some of RekkingPride's story elements from The Legacy of the most Unpredictable Ninja story, to help me introduced the Shinmai Maou no Testament character into the story. Introducing the characters of the Shinmai Maou no Testament into this story is harder than I expected, which is why I decided to borrow some more elements from RekkingPride's story to help me introduced the characters into this story, and I'd like to thank him for that. And I'll probably still borrow some elements from his story for one or two more chapters.
Anyway, I guess this is it for now guys. Please don't forget to leave me some reviews and let me what you guys think of this chapter. I welcome any constructive comments because it will help me improve my writings. And lastly, please don't be too harsh when you guys commenting about writings. I know that there will be some grammartical errors and misspellings somewhere in this chapter, but please understand that English is not my first language. It's hard to write a story that's not in your mother language, and I even have to rely on Google translate when I was writing this.
