Happy for all her maternal feelings was the day on which Mrs. Bennet got rid of her two most deserving daughters. With what delighted pride she afterwards visited Mrs. Bingley, and talked of Mrs. Darcy, may be guessed.

P&P Chapter 61

"Jane, could you ever have imagined back during the assembly that we would actually marry those two lunkheads?"

"Wellll… keep in mind that I was the one that got flirted with, while you were the one being 'tested'. It didn't seem like such a stretch for me."

"Yeah, that whole testing process was nowhere near as much fun as you might think."

"You do have to admit that my Charles being a gun and sword wielding fighter came as a surprise. Your Fitzwilliam looks like a born fighter, but my Charles looks more like a puppy at first glance."

"Guess we shouldn't judge a book by its cover."

"Yessss… but I think you must admit that if we did judge those two books entirely by their covers, they would pass muster quite handily."

"Haha… Yes, I have to say that Fitzwilliam Darcy is definitely a book I would pick up and try to read all in one sitting, and then start over at the beginning."

"You are such a flirt, Lizzy –you're right, of course– but still a flirt."

. . . . . .

"Jane… one thing concerns me. Fitzwilliam made it clear he has no intention of leaving his bladerunner mission – not for some years, if ever."

"Charles has said the same. It is a calling and somebody must do it. We will just have to live with it. In the end, it's no different from being an officer's wife."

"Yes, I suppose so. It's not what I would choose, but I didn't choose to fall in love with Fitzwilliam Darcy, so I suppose that's just the way it is."

"Yes, I suppose so."

. . . . . .

"Enough of that. It's our wedding day, and there isn't a bot in sight. We are both marrying the loves of our lives. I will not waste another moment on worries."

"Now you sound like me, Lizzy."

"Not every idea have is bad, Jane!"

"Ahh… you always make me laugh, Lizzy."

"On another subject, I assume you find Netherfield too close to Longbourn for comfort?"

"Correct. It turns out that –"

. . . . . .

"Come, come, Jane… you cannot leave me hanging like that."

"Your intended already has an estate picked for Charles. It is adjacent to Pemberley, and even though Pemberley is huge, the manor houses are only six miles apart."

Gasp "How in the world did he accomplish all that so quickly?"

"Weelllll… It turns out he has held the option to purchase it for several years. He was just unwilling to tell Charles about it while he lived with Caroline. Dodging bots is one thing, but Caroline… well, you get the idea."

"So, we are to be neighbors?"

"Always and forever!"

"Jane, this could not have worked out better."

"Well then – let us finish our hair and go to the church. I suspect our grooms are chewing on the pews by now."

"They are too refined for that. They will be chewing on their fingernails or nothing."
