I hate reporters.
Free ducking her head to avoid questions and pulling her freckled friend through the throng of people by his coat sleeve, every single newscaster blocking the way without care, no issue interfering with students' education and daily lives. All for the Scoop on All Might.
This is probably why he sticks to texting 99% of the time… he'd bring these leeches straight to our doors if they tracked him there or knew anything about Ma's and his past.
"For fuck sakes, get that shit away from my face," the redhead knocking away another microphone and just about having enough at this rate.
"F-Free-,"
"I don't wanna hear it. We got places to be, ain't no time for a bunch of noisy people waiting around to ambush high school students," fiercely citrine eyes snapping upwards to glare at the cameras. "Go cover something actually important, like child trafficking rings or the recent onslaught of gangs targeting university students and raping them." On that note, she raised her middle finger and laughed when a barrage of gasps traveled the crowd, student ending with a "PLUS ULTRA," prior to dragging Izuku through the foyer before letting go.
"Y-you don't like the news very much... why is that?" he asked, changing his shoes out.
"Besides the fact that they'll do anything for a story or picture and have no understanding of boundaries?" Her question rhetorical. "It stems from a bad experience… I'll tell you about it one day. Probably way, way in the future, when I'm drunk or something, cause I'll never get it out otherwise."
"O-ok."
"Anyway, don't ya gotta go to the nurses office before class?"
"R-right! I don't want to be late after missing yesterday's afternoon classes!"
"You borrowed my notes last night, so you're fine… just go get fixed up, Freckles."
"Hai! See you in class," the shorter teen quickly on his way as the other languidly climbed the stairs, sight on the outdoors, taking in the flourishing greenery from the window, spring is truly in the air.
"Good morning Free-chan," a delicate voice greets, drawing the American girl from her thoughts.
"Morning Momo. You're looking as breathtaking as usual... what's your secret? I'll pay," Free raising her eyebrows playfully.
"HAH! You couldn't pull that off even with ponytails help," another voice throws in, accompanied with heavy steps coming their way.
The redhead laughed, winking at Momo, "there he goes, sweet-talking me again. How'd I get so lucky?" As predicted, Free receives the reaction she was hoping for.
"NO ONE WITH A BRAIN WOULD SWEET TALK THE LIKES OF YOU BUGGIRL!" Mini explosions concurrent with Katsukis yelling.
"You mean other than you, right? Cause you scare them off with all your heartfelt passion for me."
"THAT'S IT!"
Shit, her head swiveling around to see the victim of her current teasing practically flying up the stairs and straight for her. "I'll see you in class Momo," Free throwing up a peace sign and barreling up over the last steps and into the hall. 1.A lies ahead 50 feet, the freckled face teen upping her pace and diving to slide its giant door open, jumping inside and slamming it shut in record time.
BOOM! A loud bang immediately rattles the sliding barrier and multiple curse words sound through simultaneously.
That was close, the girl putting as much space as possible between her and the shaking door, while whistling casually, classmates' glancing between the explosive teen bursting into the room and Free.
"TODAY YOU DIE PUMPKIN FACE!"
"I don't think Aizawa would appreciate blood and charred flesh splattered in his classroom," Texan taking off her blazer and hanging it on the back of the chair. "Imagine the smell," almost gagging at the thought and ignoring the fuming bomber.
"THE HELL YOU TALKING ABOUT NOW?!" Bakugo slamming his bag down and reaching to drag her by the collar towards him. "-you really love to flap that big American yapper of yours, huh?"
Yup, it's official! He's wearing a body spray that works with the nitro. This and the hug yesterday confirmed it. Sweet with a hint of burnt...
It reminds me of being inside the corner bakery with my grandfather, where he traded medicine for fresh baked goods.
"You know what they say, 'do what you love and never work a day in your life'," butterfly-girl supplying another cheeky comment without worry.
"Won't be able to do much when I blow that stupid smile off your face, you-."
"That's enough, take your seats… class starts in less than a minute and as Miss. Hastings stated, I'm not in the mood to deal with cleaning burnt teenager off desks and walls." Aizawa-sensei standing up from behind his and shuffling through paperwork as Izuku arrived, the greenets gaze quickly landing on his neighbor who's in the midst of prying his childhood bully's fingers from her uniform.
She was picking on Kaachan again, hiding his smile when passing by and sitting down just as the bell rings.
"Now then... good work on yesterday's combat training. I saw the video and results," the teacher started off, eyes sliding over to personally address students on a few things. "Bakugo, you're talented, so don't act like a kid."
"Aa. I know."
Free snorts quietly to herself, about time someone told him that.
"Midoriya... you settled it by breaking your arm again, huh?" Aizawa focusing his stare on the freckled boy, "you can't keep saying you can't help it because you can't control your Quirk… I don't like saying the same thing over and over. As long as you fix the control issue, there's a lot you'll be able to do. Feel a sense of urgency, Midoriya."
"Hai!"
"Todoroki… you know where you went wrong. Confidence is one thing, arrogance another. You'd do well to learn the difference."
"Yes, sir."
"Now, let's get down to homeroom business. Sorry about the late notice, but today, I'll have you decide on a class representative."
Almost instantly, multiple arms raise and students rapidly begin talking over each other and throwing their names in for the position.
Not my thing, American yawning and easily tuning out the chattering to observe out the window instead.
When I have my license, I'll be able to fly freely without a care in the world. High enough so that every fear I've ever felt will seem so small from above.
"Here, Free-Chan," Momo placing a piece of paper on the redhead's desk.
"Thank you."
What's this for?
Free peering around to connect the dots and writing Tenya as her choice.
Momo would suit the position quite well too...
Maroonette considering erasing it, but figuring the engine-legged male was her first thought for a reason and flipping it over to be collected.
When votes are tallied a couple minutes later, most of the class, including Midoriya himself are shocked he's been nominated, Momo in second place with 2.
Huh, I thought Tenya would at least get two… he voted for Izuku then.
"WHY DEKU? WHO VOTED FOR HIM?" Bakugo standing up in a fury, Sero humming in response.
"Well it's better than voting for you." A good amount of the class laughing at the Tape teen's brutal honesty, while the ash blonde fumed.
"What did you say?!"
"Someone had to," Free remarked over her shoulder, left hand writing something in a beaten hardcover-notebook.
"HAH?! You don't even have one vote!"
"The only reason ya do is because ya voted for yourself, ya know that right? I for one, thought Tenya would make an excellent rep. He's got school president vibes written all over him."
"Hastings-san, you're the one who voted for me?
"Uh-huh. Meant what I said. Think ya'do a good job," the distracted girl shooting him a quick smile and thumbs up, pumpkin returning to her verse writing.
"The class rep is Midoriya and the deputy class rep will be Yaoyorozu," the scruffy teacher announced, still in his sleeping bag and both reps standing at the front. It's obvious the shorter and lead is nervous, completely flabbergasted at the results.
After that, classes resume as normal and lunch is soon upon U.A for the first years. All Hero, Support and Management courses meeting to eat lunch at the same time. Students split apart to either buy lunch at Lunchrush's shop, or bring their own to eat in class.
Today, Free decides to take Eijiro's and Denki's offer to eat lunch with them, the American getting along superbly with both. Camaraderie easy between the three as they joke and talk about current movies and video games, all going great. The Udon she ordered spectacular of course, it is Lunchrush, apricot irises on the electric teen who explains a level on Kirbee that stumped him for hours.
Out of nowhere, alarms blared loudly and an automated voice stated a Level 3 security breach is in progress. What was once a calm and collected cafeteria turns to panic and chaos, all students alike shoving and pushing for the exit to safety, no way to avoid or escape the crowding teens.
Together, the threesome attempt to stay close to each other, but ultimately fail with Free getting swept up in the throng on bodies, her hand slipping from Kaminari's as she's continuously pushed around. "Shit. I can't breath," elbows hitting in all the wrong places, making her feel caged in and prodded like an animal. "Fuck. Fuck."
I need space, but how?
A thought suddenly hitting her, its my only foreseeable option, unbuttoning the white shirt and letting it fall off her naturally tanned freckled skin, Metamorphosis activating as she nimbly leveraged herself on two male students' shoulders to break out of the masses. "Sorry, not sorry," she said as a hundred pairs of eyes locked onto the girl who sprouts an elegant pair of pure eggshell wings, spotted with grayish-blue.
The Checkered White Butterfly: a smaller species with a lot of spunk and fast lifespan.
With a dose of energy, they scaled appendages dry in seconds and push her into the air away from everybody.
I'm glad I wore a nice bra today, Free glancing down at the lacey pink brazier, specialty made for women with wing Quirks. It's only a couple seconds later when Iida makes a grand gesture, flying past the girl with Ochacos gravity Quirk and smacking into the emergency exit sign.
"Everyone, everything is fine! It's just the media, there is nothing to panic about. Everything is fine! This is U.A., let us act in a way befitting the best of the best!"
The media? Doesn't the gates stop them from entering inside, wings bringing the redhead to the window where she spots an onslaught on reports hounding Aizawa and Mic, like the annoying fleas they are.
"Goddammit Uncle Might, shouldda known this would be a thing with you working here," mutterings for her ears only, as students settled and chaos is contained. "Can't believe I had to waste energy on this," fluttering back to her lunch table and dropping down on it, a few whistles and calls echoing inside the room, Free laughing amid giving Denki the middle finger.
"Pink is definitely your color Free-chan."
"Ya think so, Pikachu?" A pout on the girls' full lips as she glowered at their spilled food. What a disappointment, wings disintegrating amid stepping off the platform.
"I'm sure you could pull off any color though," his arm going to wrap around her shoulders, the girl dodging with ease to stand next to Kirishima.
"I look terrible in lime green and coral actually," Free re-clothing herself and shrugging. "Guess we get back to class… tomorrow I'll be back for ya," a promise to her wasted soup, Eijiro laughing and squeezing the girls' shoulder in comfort.
"I'll buy! You deserve it after, uh, well,"
"-giving the school a reason to remember me by?" she snickered.
"If you do it again tomorrow, I'll buy you dessert." Kaminari added as they begin their walk back to class, the Redhead considering it.
"Tempting, but that'd be looking for attention in all the wrong places. I wanna be known as a kick ass hero, not for my rack… though it's a nice one."
Kirishima blushed, unable to respond, while the other boy nods in agreement, giving her two thumbs up. "Very nice."
Free rolled her eyes, about to comment, instead locking gazes with a pair of tired purple. Who… is he?
Not much else registering, other than deep Amethyst filled with an abundance of emotion... the most prominent determination, curiosity and last but not least, loneliness.
We're due to meet again… I feel it, loosing contact when turning the corner.
Shortly, the trio arrive to class, Mineta instantly standing on his desk and pointing at them, "tell me it's not true, Free-chan! Please!!!! I COULDN'T HAVE MISSED YOU STRIPPING, ITS IMPOSSIBLE!"
… dammit, it's already spreading around the school.
"Let me guess, Denki felt the need to share, huh?" The texan elbowing him in the gut, earning a satisfying hiss from the electric teen. "For the record, removing a single piece of clothing isn't stripping. I'm saving that for any of my future lovers, obviously. Might even take a class, whole ass it, yakknow?" Minoru practically foaming at the mouth, which was her whole point in over-sharing.
"Free-chan is wild and so bold."
"You're a perve Grapevine, but I respect it. At least the part where ya straightforward about it. It's the better alternative compared to others."
"Like what?" Mina asked from her spot on Jiros' desk.
"He could hide it very well; Ted Bundy or American psycho style."
He could be like my dad and use his Quirk to force women into his bed and into signing away their child's rights.
"All I'm saying is, there's a lot more creepy and worst perves out there than this twerp."
"T-twerp?" He stuttered.
"Uh-huh. Midget is kinda insulting to small people, so I stay away from it," a cheeky grin on her full lips as those present laugh, the girl shuffling to her desk.
"Bakugo! Where have you been?! You missed the best lunch ever!" Kamimari exclaimed. "I got a picture, want to see?!" Free's eyes going wide as her head snapped to the doorway where the electric blond ambushed the explosive one.
Katsuki scoffed, "the fuck would I care about your stupid lunch??"
"You took a picture?!"
Denki quickly realizing his mistake and trying backtracks, "no. Nope. Uhhh," words seemingly dying on his tongue as the redhead moved towards him.
"Let's see then," her hand held out in expectation, deep orange swirling seriously, the electric teen knowing he doesn't stand a chance in winning this one and placing his phone in her tanned palm.
Bakugo pushed past them to his desk, thinking they're idiots as he puts his freshly bought sport drink down, "what's so important about a dumb picture of food?"
Mina giggled, "no one said anything about food. That idiot snapped a picture of Free shirtless in the cafeteria."
"He'll be lucky to get out of this unscathed," the earjack girl says, dark eyes on the American who scrolled through the dummy's phone.
The hell was she doing without a shirt on? What the fuck is with this girl, Katsuki watching the scene unfold.
"Holy hell Pikachu, you've got so much crap on this thing, how the fudge do you find anything?" Free locating the gallery and opening it.
Just one?
The texan clicking on all except the most flattering and deleting the rest. "You owe me dessert for the rest of the month for this, kay?" Kaminari gawking. "Ya also gotta promise to delete it the second serious about someone," giving him back the phone when he nods.
She's letting him keep one, the other students stunned when Denki looks at it and cheers.
"This is the best one! You spoil me Free-chan!"
The redhead shrugged, "I've already promised someone back home I'd model some of her lingerie when I come of age, consider this a sneak peek. She's a style guru with a sewing Quirk and growing business."
"Did she attend your old school Free-chan?" Momo curious to know more about the transfer student.
"She's actually my adopted cousin. My uncle fostered her when she was a year old and never let her go after. She's one of four and the only girl. The rest are in their twenties and more so big brothers than cousins."
The fair girls eyes light up at the new information, "you must miss them dearly being so far away," her heart going out to the freckled girl.
"Not the first time we're apart, likely won't be the last… though we never missed a take out night in years, since it's kind of a weekly tradition for us," Free taking her seat 2 minutes until the bell. "Luckily, Ma and I found the Midoriya's, so now Zuku's stuck with me for the next three years."
Speaking of, Izuku, Tenya and Ochaco are the last to arrive, catching the tail end of the conversation. "M-Mom loves the company," the greenet shared. "She says you're welcomed anytime."
"She's too nice for her own good… guess that's where ya get it from, huh, Freckles?" Poor boy almost blowing a gasket, his hand slapping him in the face as he fidgets amid walking to his spot, the redhead chuckling at his modesty.
Mr.Aizawa appeared as the bell goes off, door sliding close behind him as he takes his place upfront. "Reps, you know what you got to do. Come on up," the man moving to his desk as Yaoyorozu and Midoriya stand at the podium. Everyone is quiet waiting on them go on, Momo glancing at the head representative.
"Come on, class rep. Start."
It's very obvious the still blushing shorty is a nervous wreck, trembling and wide eyes his give away. "N-now, let us decide on the other class officers… but first, can I say something?" A slight pause, "I think… that Tenya Iida should be the class rep after all!"
Huh?
"He was able to get everyone's attention in such a cool way. I think it would be best for Iida to do it," Izuku's statement confident and body language changed completely.
Kirishima is the next to promote Iida, "I'm cool with that. Iida was a big help at the cafeteria today."
"Yeah, he kind of looked like the person on the emergency exit signs, didn't he?" Free can't help but agree with Denki.
That's exactly who he looked like.
"You're wasting time," the teacher drawled in sitting up, sleeping bag wrapped around him, expressing scaring the soft boy. "I don't care what you do, just hurry up and do it."
Tenya stands at his desk, back rigid and arms at his sides, "if the class rep has nominated me, then it cannot be helped. From this day forth, I, Tenya Iida, promise to do my best to carry out the duties if class representative."
"We're counting on you, Emergency Exit!"
"Emergency Exit Iida!"
"Do your best!"
"Now, take your seats," Aizawa unzipping from his yellow nest and yawning while the class quiets down and does as he bids. The day goes on as normalmuch of the same over every day, until later in the week when everyone's favorite class is in session again.
--
"So, for today's hero basics training, it's turned into a class with three instructors. All Might and me, and one more person."
Ooo, another hero, the redhead perking up in her seat now that the best class of the day is starting.
"Excuse me! What'll we be doing?" Sero asking what most students are wondering.
To answer his question, Eraserhead raises a card that reads 'RESCUE.' "Disasters, shipwrecks and everything in between. It's rescue training."
Immediately every teenager gets excited, many commenting on what's in store.
"Hey, I'm not done," Shotas' tone shutting them up. "You can decide if you want to wear your costume or not this time, because there are probably costumes that limit your abilities, too."
True, but at least I don't have to constantly strip out of if to go full wings,.
"The training will take place off-campus, so we're taking a bus. That is all. Start getting ready," the thirty-year-old said and moving away to prepare as well.
Simultaneously, most students get up and move to their cases, prior to getting changed and heading down to the front entrance.
Free and the other girls going together. "I'm so pumped! Battles are fun, but rescue is better."
"Have you done some at your other school? Ribbit," Tsuyu peering up at the taller girl.
"A good amount of our training focused on rescue. It's the best part of being a hero, right?" Her question rhetorical. "Changing or saving a life for the better... that's what the essence of a hero is," the other girls agreeing with her as they worked on changing.
Before long, they join the boys already gathering, Free in casual conversation about Jiro's skill with a multitude of instruments, the topic coming about by a sticker on her notebook of one of her top 5 bands. "So, you sing? And play guitar?"
"Harmonica and bango too. Couldn't resist... it's so cliché for a country girl, but whatever."
"You have got to play for me sometime! I'd love to hear you sing too, if you don't mind," the bluenette suddenly feeling self-conscious. Hopefully she doesn't ask to hear me sing.
"Sure, I have my stuff at home. One day we can hang and I'll charm ya with my southern roots," the American teased. "I prefer other genres to be honest, but I'm a natural at classic country. Deep roots on my granndaddy's side."
"Country is cool, but I agree. I'm definitely more of a rock girl! Which is why Purple Pelicans is a top tier band in my eyes," Jiro in her element when it comes to music.
Free nodding, "Xena Deathless is one of my favorites for rockbands too."
Kyoka holds her fist out for a bump from the other girl, the freckled teen complying with a grin, "it's rad to know someone else in this class has good taste in tunes."
"Ditto Kyokyo."
Kyokyo? Jiro choosing not to say anything and accept it, a small smile settling on her face as she lined up with the others. She's kind of wild and a lot less reserved… but that's normal for Americans' right?
"Shoot. I didn't think it'd be this type of bus," Iida says, head bowed in disappointment when seated inside.
Mina doesn't help with her next words, "there was no point, huh?"
"I say whatever comes to mind," Tsuyu speaks up between the Greenet and Spiky redhead a moment later. "Midoriya…"
"Ah, um, yes, Asui?"
Freckles still can't handle being addressed by girls, Free watching him from beside Todoroki.
"Call me Tsu."
"R-right."
"Your Quirk is like All Mights."
"Huh?!" Izuku instantly fretting, "y-y-you think so? But uh.. uh.."
"Wait a sec Tsu," Eijiro cutting in, "All Might doesn't get hurt when he uses his. They just kinda look the same." Midoriya breaths a sigh of relief, ripe peach narrowing in curiosity.
Why does the topic of All Might and his Quirk make Izuku so nervous?
"-nice to have a simple augmenting-type Quirk. You can do lots of flashy stuff!" Kirishima holding his arm out and turning it rock solid, "my hardening's strong against others, but unfortunately, it doesn't look like much."
"I think it's really cool!" More modesty from the Greenet. "It's a Quirk that can definitely pass as a pro's!"
"A pro's, huh? But you have to think about popularity as a hero, too, you know," the sturdy male remarked.
Not necessarily... sure, being a pro comes with expectations, but the most important thing is what you do to make a difference in this shit world.
"-flashy and strong, it's gotta be Todoroki, Bakugo and Free, though, huh?"
This time he has a point, sunrise sliding to the blonde seated in front of her who huffed at Kirishima's praise.
"Bakugo's always mad, so he doesn't seem like he'll be popular, though," complete and utter honesty from the froggirl.
Free laughing without restraint next to a close-eyed Shoto, while Katsuki stood in a fit of rage. "What the hell? You wanna fight?"
"See?" Tsu sticking her tongue out cheerily.
"We haven't known each other that long, so it's amazing that everyone already knows his personality is crap steeped in sewage," Kaminari commented unhelpfully, only setting Bakugo off more.
"What's with that vocabulary, bastard?! I'll kill you!"
"Oi, Pikachu, the hell ya mean every one? I personally think there's a sweet teddy-bear under all this teenage angst and testosterone," the American motioning to the explosive blonde. "Some day soon I'm gunna get a glimpse," winking when he turned his attention to her.
"You looking to die today too!?"
"Only if die is a code word for something else," wiggling her brows and earning more threats of her demise, though this time the explosive teen is wearing a blush.
Damn this bitch and her catching me off guard, Katsuki just about ready to bomb the shitty redhead.
"We're here. Stop messing around."
"Yes, sir!"
Mr.Aizawa's talent in shutting everyone up is a feat for sure, Free again impressed by the teacher.
As soon as the bus has parked, everyone unloads to find Pro Hero Thirteen waiting, the blackhole Quirk user a personal favorite of many. "Everyone I have been waiting for you." Both Izuku and Ochaco fangirl hard, the American giggling at them as the spacesuit hero guided the class to follow, "let's go inside without delay."
"Look forward to working with you," a high number of students bowing, Free not one of them.
"Ya two are so cute Chacochip and Freckles." Ochaco smiling at the given name.
"Chacochip?"
"Just felt right! My other choice was Chacolatechip, which is just a longer version," citrine scanning the large building in entering.
Woah, this place is like Rescue Rec in Houston, but better.
"Wow, it looks like USJ!"
Universal Studios Japan, the freckled girl having been once years ago.
"A shipwreck, a landslide, a fire, a windstorm, et cetera, it is a grand training ground that I made with different types of accidents and disasters," Thirteen explained, arms pointing out the different scenarios. "It's called the Unforeseen Simulation Joint, or USJ for short."
It really is USJ, 1.A going blanked face.
Mr.Aizawa is quick to notice the third teacher absent and questioning the other pro of All Might's whereabouts. "He was suppose to meet us here."
The space hero closed the distance to avoid the kids from hearing, "about that... it looks like he did too much hero work on his way to work and ran out of time. So, he's resting in the lounge."
Shota sighed, "that's the height of irrationality… guess it can't be helped. Shall we begin?" The scruffy teacher turning back to his students.
"Let's see. Before we begin, let me say one thing… er… or two, or three," Thirteen says, increasing the list a few more numbers, before talking about her Quirk, Blackhole and the dangers of it.
Oddly, amid listening to the pro, Free starts to feel something eerie in the air, her fingers running through maroon in habit, as she shifts to peer around the dome. Something's wrong, energy stirring under her skin in preparation to cocoon over in a multitude of colors, while Thirteen continus to talk.
When the feeling doesn't settle in another minute, she can't retain her worry any longer, "Mr.Aizawa," the Texan's serious tone drawing his dark eyes. "I know this is going to sound crazy, but we're in danger."
Just like that, all excitement dies down as every pair of eyes land on the now diamond skinned girl, Shota pushing from his place against the wall and moving to stand in front of his transfer student. "What makes you say that, Hastings?"
"I… I don't know, but I can feel it, Sir. Please… we need to go," citrine begging for him to believe her as the twisting of the girls stomach worsened.
Suddenly, overhead lights spark out of control and down below, black and purple swirl from thin air, lashing out wildly and opening up.
A portal, Free watching as people begin to crawl from it.
"Everyone, gather together! Thirteen, protect the students!" Aizawa quick to take charge as a few students comment on what's happening, thinking it's part of the lesson.
"Villains," the redhead growled.
My gut was right.
"Correct Hastings… seems that feeling was right on the mark," Eraserhead putting on his goggles and stepping in front as a line of defense. "The trespassing the other day was the work of these scumbags after all, huh?"
"What about the alarm sensors?" Yaoyorozu asked, Thirteen confirming U.A has them of course.
"Did they only appear here, or around the whole school?" Todoroki wondered out loud. "Either way, if the sensors are not responding, that means they have someone with a Quirk that can do that… an isolated area separated from the main campus, during a time when a class is supposed to be here."
I think this is the most Elsa's ever spoken.
"-they might be fools, but they're not dumb. This surprise attack was carefully planned with some sort of goal in mind."
"Good points. They also have someone who can disintegrate entire walls too, so that's great," Free referring to the front gate that let the news in as a distraction.
"Thirteen, start the evacuation," no room for argument in their homeroom teacher voice. "Try calling the school. These villains even had something to counteract the sensors. It's possible someone with a radio-wave-type powers is interfering."
Meaning phones are likely shit-out-of-luck too, crystal irises glancing drifting upwards to the ceiling. A huge dose of energy can potentially break that ceiling and I can fly to get help… but can I leave my classmates behind? Along her back, the coccoon thickened, a pair of wings in mind as she pondered if Izuku is right in worrying about the scarfed man.
"You can't be a hero with just one trick," Eraserhead preparing to lunge. "I'm leaving it to you, Thirteen." It's as if a switch goes off, their usually laid back and half asleep teacher, begins taking down multiple bad guys in mere seconds.
"This is exactly why I say you can never just rely on your Quirk alone," Free's hand resting on her compacted Bo Staff at the thought of helping crosses her mind.
I might have developed a small crush on Mr.Aizawa just now.
Beside her, Midoriya is impressed too, "wow… Mr.Aizawa's actually good at fighting by himself against a lot of people, huh?"
"This is no time for analysis or lollygagging, hurry up and take shelter Midoriya and Free," Iida reminding them of their orders, both teens hesitating a fraction, prior to spinning around to jog after the class for the exit.
Of course, it's never that easy, the maroonette coming to a halt next to Shoto, as the smoky portal Quirk user brings Thirteen and the students to a crashing stop.
"I won't let you," it stated. "Nice to meet you. We are the League of Villains. It may be presumptuous of us, but we have invited ourselves in to the home of the heroes, U.A. High School, in order to have All Might, the Symbol of Peace, take his breath."
What, Free utterly flabbergasted. Who the hell do they think they are, God?
"I believe All Might should have been here. Has there been some kind of change?"
"Hey Asshole! Even if ya could kill him," southern twang ringing loudly, not a hint of fear in it, "which we all doubt by the way, it appears fate had other plans. Scum like ya never win, especially against the likes of All Might and U.A."
Black and purple flicker ominously as the Villain hovers momentarily. "Well, that is neither here nor there. This is the part I am to play," hazy body expanding, until Kirishima and Bakugo launch an attack at him.
Smoke and heat blowing back in everyone's face, vision limited as Eijiro boasted, "did you consider that you'd ever beaten by us before you did it?"
Is he though, all eyes searching for violet through the smog.
"Oh dear, that was close. That's right. Even if you are students, you are excellent golden eggs."
"No! Move away you two," Thirteen's suit opened at her fingers in preparation to end this. Unfortunately, the teenage boys blocked the shot.
"My job is to scatter you all and torture you to death!" Is the last thing they hear, swiftly surrounded and smothered in his Quirk.
Fuck, a pulling sensation over taking the American, I'm being warped, her ears popping momentarily, until she's freefalling.
Female Queen Elizabeth Birdwing: the largest butterfly in the world, deep chocolate brown spotted with yellow and aquamarine spreading from her shoulder blades to tailbone, stopping her mid-air. Within seconds, she's assaulted by two villains, the first lifting his cannon arm to shoot rocks the size of baseballs at her, Free dodging with easy and shooting a burst of radiant light at the ugly bastard, sending him into a pile of dirt. This has to be the landslide zone, eyes scanning the area as she reflected a scorpion-based Quirk, the 12-foot tail meeting her Bo and her foot meeting his face in a energy dosed kick, enough to knock him out cold. "This league really scrapped the bottom of the barrel for the lot of ya, huh?" Question directed at another two who don't refrain from showing themselves.
"Won't be saying that in a minute, bitch," the lanky, pale and almost transparent women said, her finger nails extending in length.
The other is a large beast of sorts, hairy and werewolf like. "Maybe I can have just a little bite of the pretty butterfly," malicious intent seeping through with their every step closer.
"I'll have to pass. I prefer to do the biting," solar light launching her upwards and away from the two villainous creeps, doubt they're the flying or long-distance types, diamond orbs searching for anyone else who possibly ended up with her too. It only takes a moment to spot shimmering down below.
Ice.. that accounts for Elsa.
After another look around, she determined he's the only other student within the area amid fluttering in his direction. Come on losers, follow me, Free peaking behind to see the two low-life's attempting to keep up on foot and paws. "Oi, Elsa! 2 incomings at 3 o'clock, and 4 at 11," spotting the larger group on her decent, combat boots touching down next to his ice-covered opponents. They never stood a chance, observing Shoto freeze the last of them, redhead breathing a sigh of exasperation. "Kinda sad that 2 teenagers handled this many 'so called' villains without breaking a sweat," she said to her classmate, coming to stand by him.
"Pathetic… but it'll make the next part of this all the easier," he answered, nodding for her to follow him to one of human popsicles. "Let's have a little chat, shall we? I suggest you don't waste my time, or you'll lose your limbs to frost bite. Your cells will slowly die at this rate."
Maroon eyebrows lifting at the elemental's threat, did not see that coming, the girl both amazed and impressed Todoroki has the nerve for it.
"I want to be a hero, and would like to avoid something so cruel if possible... on what basis do you think you can kill All Might?" Frosty right hand raising to the thugs' face. "What's your plan?"
Mr.Freeze has got more spunk than I originally thought, Free keeping an eye out for anymore surprises attacks as the man shakily spills all that he knows.
Some weapon strong enough to take on Uncle Might? There's no way.
"We need to get back to the center where Mr.Aizawa is. If this thing can kill All Might, then Eraserhead doesn't stand a fighting chance. We have to help or he'll die."
"Agreed. Let's knock these duds out and go quickly."
"I got the perfect thing," Bo Staff twirling masterfully and slamming into the villain's skull, eyes rolling to the back his head as it drops forward. "I'll incapacitate, ya thaw HotMint."
Less than five minutes later, the pair leave behind their beaten foes, Shoto running on foot and occasionally using ice to speed himself up. Free on the other hand, flies 3 meters above to left, cyan scales bright and alluring, the idea to bring anymore foes in to freeze and leave for the cops.
Part of me thinks I should go through the roof for help... but knowing what I do now, I can't leave without being certain everyone else is safe.
What comes into sight another minute later causes the American's heart to skip. Uncle Might! "Shit," wings bringing her closer to the half-hot, half-cold teen. "Things are worse than we expected, get ready to lay some ice, ya got one shot at this," a boost lifting her higher to come in from above, while below, Midoriya sprints to his hero, but is blocked by the warp gate, green eyes wide in realizing that he failed.
Luckily, Bakugo explodes into the action, yelling at him to get out of the way and grabbing at the villain with a bomb, at the same time Todoroki freezes the open brained creature, giving Toshinori the chance to free himself and land next to his savior.
Kirishima attacks next with a hardened jab at the hand covered villain, unfortunately, the blue haired male dodged, though he's unaware of the threat for above. His only sign the large shadow that befalls him, red eyes meeting diamond above.
"Solar wave," giant wings fluttering in a powerful figure 8 and propelling the foe backwards in multiple flips and rolls along solid floor, multiple creepy hands littering his trail.
"The Symbol of Peace cannot be killed by the likes of you." Free agreeing with the ice user's statement while landing beside her Uncle, a rapid glance confirming his injuries aren't life threatening. However, only because they made it in time to save him.
Slowly, Tomura Shigaraki climbs to his feet, the young adult not pleased in the slightest, "over-powered," scratch, scratch, "she came from nowhere," scratch, scratch. "Damn hero students… they don't hold back," twitching as he retraced his steps and reattaching their hands, halting to stand off against his enemies. "Kurogiri... our exit and entrance has been overcome. We're in a pinch."
"Hah," Bakugo gloating, a confident grin plastered across his face, "you careless bastard. You're just what I thought you'd be. Only certain parts of you can turn into a misty warp gate. The fog gate covered your actual body, right?"
Firecracker really does pick up on a lot... if only he could cool his temper better and learn to be half decent to everyone… then he'd give Might and Izuku a real run for their money.
"Don't move!" Bombs beating against the warpers body in warning, "if I feel like you're moving suspiciously, then I'll blow you up."
"His behavior isn't very hero-like," Kirishima muttered, the girl hearing him.
"He's just overly passionate about kicking criminal-ass," she chimed, winking at the male redhead, while Tomura sighed at the current predicament.
"In addition to capturing them, they're almost all uninjured… kids these days are amazing. They make the League of Villains look bad." Well then, "Nomu." From out of the warp, it emerged, iced limbs breaking off amid coming to a steady stance.
How...
"It's still functional after loosing a third of it's body?" Midoriya asking the exact same thing Free thought.
"Get back everyone!" All Might urged, his focus on the beast who suddenly regrows his shattered parts. "What? His Quirk wasn't shock absorption?"
"I didn't say that was all he had," Shigaraki satisfied in getting the better of the best hero in the world. "This is his super-regeneration. Nomu has been modified to take you on at 100%."
Modified? As is he's a science experiment? A mutation of some sort? Chimera? The redhead appalled as every thought is worst than the last.
"First, we need to get our gate back. Go Nomu."
"Prettyboy!" Nickname barely out of the Americans mouth as instantaneous wind blows everyone back and kicking up dust.
"Kaachan!" Izuku shouts when it cleared around the experiment and warper, bomber missing in action, but only for a second as he turns up next to the other four teenagers. "Kacchan?! You dodged? That's amazing!" Katsuki growling.
"No, shut up, scum!"
"Then how?" Eijiro confused.
"All Might," Free enlightening them, pearly orbs on her hero who coughs to catch his breath, wind knocked out from the creature's impact.
Midoriya gasped, "All Might!"
Toshinori Yagi is angry; more so than he's been in a long while. "Do you not know how to hold back?"
"It was to rescue my companions. I had no choice. I mean earlier," Shigaraki pointing at the Greenet, "that plain-looking one… be was about to punch me with everything be had, you know."
"Ya lame league is attacking a classroom of high school students. What the hell did ya expect bastard" The Texan's' outburst drawing narrowed rubies. "The first thing ya companion said was that we'd be tortured and killed. What? Ya thought we weren't gunna put up a fight Frankenstein?" A snort to her right could only be the explosive blonde, the feeling of accomplishment at getting him to laugh making Free more confident in her words.
"Violence for the sake of others makes it admirable. Isn't that right, Hero?" Hand-Creeps attention switching back to the pro. "You know what, All Might? I'm angry."
Here comes the evil monologue and apparent divine reasoning for it all, winged girl biting her tongue and figuring if she calls him out a second time, that thing would come for her next.
He goes on, "I'm angry at this world that categorizes the same violent acts as heroic or villainous, deciding what's good and what's bad."
Knew it, Free dismissing his rant. Violence only breeds more violence. What really matters are the intentions behind it, whether meant to benefit and save from evil, or harm and cause chaos to peace.
"- Peace? You're just a device to repress violence. Violence only breeds violence. The world will know this once we kill you!"
"That's preposterous," All Might saying it out right. "The eyes of white-collar criminals like you burn silently. You just want to enjoy this yourself, don't you, you liar?"
"It's three against six," Shoto noted, mind set on helping take down this so-called League of Villains. Izuku nods, raising his hands in a fight stance.
"Kacchan already exposed the fog's weakness!"
"These guys are crazy, but if we backup All Might, we can push them back," Kiri hardening in preparation.
Before Free has a chance to agree, her Uncle cuts them off, "no. Run away!"
"You would've been in trouble if I hadn't done earlier, right?" Todoroki pointed out.
"That was a different story, Young Todoroki. Thanks… but it's fine," the man giving them a fist of reassurance. "Just watch as a pro give it everything he's got."
Of course Izuku is worried,n"All Might, you're bleeding. Besides, time's-," freckled teen covering his mouth to stop himself from whatever he's about to say.
"Oi! Give the hero some credit," lone female garnering her classmate's attentiveness. "He's number one for a reason ya guys."
Am I the only one who doesn't have faith or something?
"Nomu, Kurogiri. Get him. I'll deal with the children… now let's clear this an go home," Tomura launching forward, sights set on five never-to-be-heroes. Again, everyone shifts to fighting stances, Free already working on another energy wave as her teacher flashed with speed to meet Nomu fist to fist, waves of power creating a windstorm. Then, he begins punching, it's blow back strong enough to lift the American up, her wings unable to get control in it.
Son of a bitch, giving up and allowing herself to twist and turn until broken of it. Wind and insect wings don't mix.
"Free!" Izuku's calling out from the ground, mossy spheres on his friend who's flung up and away 50 yards from them. Out of reach of the gusts and danger for now, she gives her freckled classmate a peace sign to let him know she's alright, ahead of forgetting about the fight. Instead, she turned for the entrance where most of the remaining students gathered, both Thirteen and Aizawa hurt and being held up.
There's not much else I can do concerning the criminals, but I can get one of the injured to the hospital asap, flying over to do so.
"Free!" Both Mina and Ochaco beyond happy she's alright, the others relieved too.
"Mezo, let me take Mr.Aizawa. I'll get him to medical attention right away," the redhead growing four long segmented butterfly legs from her ribcage to wrap around the bleeding teacher and lifting him off the dupli-armed teens back. "Hopefully I'll hit an ambulance already on its way here. If not, good thing I don't have to worry bout traffic or lights on the way," large wings driving her up and then straight out he double doors to outside.
Barely two minutes of air travel later, Free crosses path with Tenya, Principle Nezu and other U.A pro hero staff on their way to USJ. "Ms. Hastings," the bear-mouse calls out from his position on Kans shoulder, "straight to emergency with Shota. You'll get there before any EMS could. Remain until another teacher collects you, please."
Nodding, the American transfer uses more energy to advance with speed, no reason to save any, especially not when she can use it to help. Hopefully, Uncle Toshi handled the rest... if not, another minute from now he'll have back up.
Soon, the Hospital comes in sight, cyan fluttering until size 8's touch pavement, extra limbs and appendages crumbling away as two emergency personnel rush out to meet her and the bloody passenger. "Miss, what happened? Are you a prohero?" Another two from inside come with a gurney to place the new patient on, herding her to follow as she answered.
"I'm a U. A student and this is Mr. Aizawa. He was outnumbered by villains and severely wounded," yet he's alive which says a lot about his skill. "There's another teacher who will be brought in too, possible injured students as well."
"We'll keep an eye out and get situated ahead of their arrival. Any inflicted upon yourself?" The vice head medic inquired, badge stating his position, his octopus like arms sprouting from within his white coat, face human, but eyes larger and head rounder.
"I'm good Doc. Please just worry bout those like my teacher," Free trailing as they cart Eraserhead into emergency and lead to the nearest seating with a nod, the Dr. swiftly disappearing through the double doors with a swipe of his key card.
"Do you mind filling out what you know about Mr.Aizawa. Full name, approximate age, et cetera. It would help in pulling up his medical file for any information we might need," one of the nurses asked, a clipboard in her hand.
"I don't know much, but hopefully his Heroname will do the trick for ya'll," the maroonette only able to put down a couple things, before returning it.
"That might make all the difference in the world, thank you miss," the short women shooting the younger one a small smile. "We have some of the best surgeons in the world here. Your teacher is in good hands."
Appreciating the words of comfort, Free rests her head back against the wall, a sigh of relief and exhaustion escaping as she closes her eyes. Villains attacking high schoolers in order to draw Uncle Might's wrath and kill him… all because this League, believes violence shouldn't be controlled or contained. Everything about that lanky creep screamed antagonistic, chaotic and obviously brainwashed… this all has to be conducted by someone more significant, but who?
--
It's late into the day when Ectoplasm makes his appearance to ensure the transfer student's safe return to U.A. Amidst their journey back, the two talk about what occurred, neither one shy in speaking their minds about the league of criminals, prior to parting ways in the foyer at their arrival; a sort of mutual respect built between them After removing her shoes, the redhead trudged up the stairs and into change room to pack away the costume and redress in her uniform.
At least somewhat, blouse half buttoned and tie a mess as she exits with her case to return it to its rightful spot in the classroom. I wonder if Izuku is still here and fully recovered from breaking his legs, Free planning on checking in once collecting her backpack. Upon sliding the classroom door open, she's greeted by Tenya and Ochaco, both stating they're glad to see her in one piece, even if told twice that she was alright.
"So, Freckles is still in the nurse's office, huh?"
"Midoriya should be released soon. Will you be waiting with us?" The glasses teen asked, restraining himself from commenting on the American's disheveled appearance.
"Definitely… can we go outside though? It's suppose to be a clear night and I'd like to store some moonlight since I expended what other energy I stored."
Uraraka nods, "let's do it!"
"Fresh air after such a day of drastic events is a welcomed idea," the male noted, following the girls in their quest.
"So, Free, can you use all forms of light to energize yourself?" The brunette wondered in their trek down the stairway.
"I too have been curious to know," Iida chimed in.
"For the most part, I can absorb any visible light; from ultra violet to infrared, to fire and electric and of course sunlight, which is the strongest form of it. Nothing burns brighter and hotter than that big ol'sun," she informed freely. "I cannot take in radio or microwave light, or x-rays. Something to do with the wavelengths."
Tenya hummed, "your source for power is fairly unlimited then."
"Pretty much. Darkness is my biggest weakness, but I'm always storing energy in advance."
"That's smart! I guess with today, we can never be too prepared, huh?" Ochaco remarked as the three change to their outdoor shoes, Free agreeing.
"Something tells me this won't be our last encounter with the League of Villains… let's make sure to watch each other's backs here on out and work on getting stronger together."
The engine-legged teen is compelled by his American classmates' words, arms swinging in his usual robotic fashion as he praised her for the suggestion on improving with one another.
"Deku!" Urarakas' announcement at their freckled friend's arrival a cheerful one.
"Y-you guys! You didn't have to wait for me, t-thank you!" Izuku bowing his head, cheeks-tinged pink as he meets their gazes.
"Don't worry bout it Zuku. We're just glad you're back in tip top shape," sunrise scanning his figure. Tenya and Ochaco concurring as the four start the walk to the station, quiet conversation of today's events discussed.
--
Midoriya can't help but agree with his friend and neighbor as they stand together in their building's elevator forty minutes later; the girl stating once again that she feels today was only a taste of what's to come concerning the League of Villains. Both sharing the same twisting feeling that things will get a lot worst, before getting better, shortly parting ways at the second floor with a hug initiated by Free. The redhead beyond relieved she got a chance to, knowing that if today had gone any different, there's a chance neither of them would of made have home.
