Chapter 3: Making Friends
Pikachu turned and exited Rillaboom's Attraction through the gate. Upon exiting, Pikachu was stopped by Piplup and Oshawott. "Say, Pikachu? We actually had a thought." Oshawott said. "Before you think of going to Lake Town, you should at least make some friends here in the Lake Zone." Piplup said. "And I can be of big help to you too. I can swim in the lakes here and any other places that has huge ponds or lakes." Oshawott said. Pikachu, Piplup and Oshawott then cheered.
Oshawott became your Pal!
Oshawott will accompany you on your adventure. When you need to swim, try switching to Oshawott. Press A to call Oshawott. Then move left or right with the Left or Right buttons. When Oshawott is in the middle, press A to switch.
"Right then, I'll meet you guys later in Lake Town." Piplup said, taking off for Lake Town. "Alright. Let's go and make some friends. We'll head for Lake Town when you're ready." Oshawott said.
With that said and done, Pikachu took off to find the Pokémon and make some friends. As soon as he got to the bridge, he crossed it to the small island. There, he found Yungoose. He walked up to Yungoose and talked to him. "Wait. You actually spoke with Rillaboom? Wow! You must be very brave in order to speak with our Zone Keeper." Yungoose said. "Say, what would say to a Skill Game of Chase?" Pikachu answered yes. "Okay. This should be fun." Yungoose said.
Yungoose stepped into position. 3, 2, 1, GO! Yungoose started running and Pikachu gave chase. Yungoose was pretty fast, but Pikachu slowly started to catch up. Despite the one turn, Pikachu finally tagged Yungoose. YOU WIN!
They met back at where they started. "Wow! You're a pretty good runner! Would you like to be friends?" Yungoose asked, giving Pikachu 10 berries. Pikachu and Yungoose cheered.

Pikachu then took off to make more friends. He stumbled upon Cottonee floating nearby, walked up to him and talked to him. "I just love floating along the air here. It makes me feel fast." Cottonee said. "Would you play Chase with me?" Pikachu answered yes. "Just try to catch me in the air." Cottonee said.
Cottonee flew ahead a few spaces. 3, 2, 1, GO! Pikachu chased after Cottonee. Floating in the air, Cottonee had quite an advantage, but Pikachu was a bit faster. Pikachu caught up to Cottonee, and when Cottonee was low enough, Pikachu tackled him, winning the game. YOU WIN!
They met up back at the same spot. "I thought for sure being in the air would've given me more speed. But that's okay. Please, be my friend." Cottonee said, giving Pikachu 10 berries for the win. Pikachu and Cottonee cheered.

Pikachu took off to find others to make friends with. As he passed Yungoose, he walked up to Azurill and talked to her. "It would be amazing if we could visit the other Zones again. My sister Marill lives in the Tropic Zone. It would be nice to go visit her again." Azurill said. "Will you play Chase with me?" Azurill asked. Pikachu answered yes. "Oh, goodie! I just love to play!" Azurill said.
Azurill hopped a few spaces ahead. 3, 2, 1, GO! Pikachu chased after Azurill as she hopped across the land. Pikachu found it a bit hard to catch Azurill due to all the bouncing. But as Azurill nearly reached the ground for another bounce, Pikachu finally managed to tackle her, giving him the win. YOU WIN!
They met back up at where they started. "Wow! You are so good! My sister would love to meet you." Azurill said. "Speaking of which, my other sister should be here soon. Please be my friend!" Pikachu and Azurill cheered.

Just then, an Azumarill appeared in the park.
Azumarill has come to play!
Pikachu continued on his way to find some more Pokémon to make friends with. Just then, as he went up a hill, he found Skwovet sitting by a crate, looking very hungry. He walked up to Skwovet and started to talk to him. "I'm so hungry, I can barely move. I can smell a big berry inside this crate, but I can't muster the strength to break it." Skwovet said.
Pikachu, deciding to help Skwovet, dashed into the crate, breaking it and revealing a big berry.
There are some items, like Big Berries, that you can carry. When you're close to a carriable item, press A and pick it up.
Pikachu walked over to the big berry and picked it up. He then carried it over to Skwovet and spoke to him. "Ooh. That's a delicious big berry." Skwovet said. "Wait. Are you giving it to me? Oh, thank you so much!" Pikachu gave him the big berry and Skwovet ate in a single bite. "Oh, that was so good. I am so full now. Would you like to be friends?" Skwovet asked. Pikachu and Skwovet cheered.

"You know, there are others who like big berries as much as I do, like my big brother Greedent." Skwovet said. "But don't worry. There will be another big berry when you come back to the Lake Zone." Afterwards, a Greedent appeared.

Before Pikachu could continue, he saw one of the Ducklett fly overhead. He followed Ducklett until he came to one of the lakes. Pikachu stopped when Ducklett flew to the water. Pikachu switched to Oshawott and Oshawott jumped into the water. He swam over to Ducklett and talked to him. "It actually feels nice to have my feet in the water." Ducklett said. "Say, would you'd like to play Chase?" Ducklett asked. Oshawott answered yes. "Okay. Fair warning, I'm pretty good when I'm in flight." Ducklett said.
Ducklet flew ahead of Oshawott, stopping to land in the water. 3, 2, 1, GO! Oshawott chased after Ducklett as he took off in the air. Oshawott hopped out of the water and back onto the land as Ducklett got far ahead. Oshawott figured that he wasn't gonna catch Ducklett, for he wasn't exactly the fastest Pokémon on land. But his luck began to come around. Ducklett landed to give his wings a rest. But then, Oshawott managed to catch up and tackled Ducklett, winning the game. YOU WIN!
Oshawott and Ducklett met back up at the same spot in the lake. "Wow! You are amazing! Please be friends with me. All the Ducklett in the Lake Zone will now be your friends too." Ducklett said. Oshawott and Ducklett cheered.

As Ducklett flew away, Oshawott swam towards a small island in the middle of the lake. He hopped onto the island as soon as he got close to the edge. There, he found 2 crates by the foliage. He dashed into the first one, breaking it and revealing a berry. He walked over it and picked it up.

Oshawott then dashed into the other crate and as he broke it, it revealed a Voltorb with a wooden bottom.
Voltorb appeared!
Oshawott walked up to Voltorb and talked to him. "Oh! Thank you for releasing me. I don't even remember how long I've been in there." Voltorb said. "Would you like to be friends?" Oshawott and Voltorb cheered.

"Say, if you get to City Zone, you should meet my cousin. We look alike, but we both have different forms. A lot of us have different forms here in PokéPark." Voltorb said.
Some Pokémon have different forms depending on what Zone they reside.
After finishing the talk, Oshawott walked back to the lake and hopped back into the water. Oshawott swam about until he caught sight of a couple Basculin with red stripes. He swam up to one of the Basculin and talked to him. "Swimming in the water, that's my lot in life. I may not be able to go anywhere else, but I actually like it." Basculin said. "Say, how about a Skill Game of Chase?" Basculin asked. Oshawott answered yes. "Good. Let's see how fast you are in the water." Basculin said.
Basculin swam ahead a bit. 3, 2, 1, GO! Oshawott swam after Basculin to try and catch him. Basculin proved to a very fast swimmer. But Oshawott slowly began to catch up. But it wasn't enough and time was running out. It seemed hopeless at first, but then, Basculin made a turnaround at an edge, allowing Oshawott to dash into him. YOU WIN!
Oshawott and Basculin swam back to where they began. "Wow. You're a pretty fast swimmer. I respect that." Basculin said. Oshawott and Basculin cheered.

Just then, a Basculegion appeared in the lake.
Basculegion has come to play!
Oshawott went back to swimming, until he caught sight of Basculegion. He swam up to him and began to talk to him. "Ah, the sweet feel of the water. How it moves as you move through its liquid body." Basculegion said. "What's that? A Skill Game? How about a Battle?" Basculegion asked. Oshawott answered yes. "Very good. Then let us see who is the better water battler." Basculegion said.
Oshawott and Basculegion took their positions and got ready to battle. 3, 2, 1, GO! Basculegion charged in with an incoming Aqua Jet. Oshawott successfully managed to jump out of the way and dashed into Basculegion when his move was finished, then repeatedly slashed him with Razor Shell. Unfortunately, since Basculegion was a water type, the attack didn't have much effect. But that wouldn't stop Oshawott. As Bascilegion got ready to attack again, Oshawott quickly got out of the way before he could get hit. Oshawott swam over and dashed him and sliced at him with Razor Shell again. The damage might've been small, but it slowly grew. Just a few more hits and Oshawott would win. Basculegion charged again, but Oshawott finally managed to dodge the attack and finished Basculegion with one last dash and Razor Shell. YOU WIN!
Oshawott and Basculegion met back up where they started. "Well, that proves it. You are the better water battler. Please, allow me to consider you my friend." Basculegion said. Oshawott and Basculegion cheered.

With that settled, Oshawott turned around and headed back to the mainland. Once he reached the shore, he hopped out and dried himself. He then switched back to Pikachu. Pikachu headed across the bridges until he found Azumarill. He ran up to Azumarill and talked to her. "Oh, you must be the cute little friend my little sister was telling me about. I gotta say, you are even cuter than Azurill said." Azumarill said. "Say, how would like to have a Battle with me?" Azumarill asked. Pikachu answered yes. "Okay. Just because I'm sweet, doesn't mean I'm not tough." Azumarill said.
Azumarill took a few steps back and took her stance. Pikachu got ready too. 3, 2, 1, GO! Pikachu and Azumarill dashed towards each other. Azumarill fired a Water Gun, but Pikachu dodged, prepped up his Thunderbolt and fired it on Azumarill. Since Azumarill was a water type, the Thuderbolt did a little more damage than usual. Azumarill recovered and fired another Water Gun. Pikachu dodged the attack and dashed into Azumarill, then gave her 3 swipes of his Iron Tail. Azumarill's HP was almost at the end. Azumarill recovered and fired one more Water Gun. Pikachu dodged the attack, prepped up one more Thunderbolt and hit Azumarill with it, giving Pikachu the win. YOU WIN!
Pikachu and Azumarill moved back to where they started. "Wow! You are so strong! I've never felt much energy in my life! I like you. Please, be my friend too." Azumarill said. Pikachu and Azumarill cheered.

As Azumarill started walking away, Pikachu decided to save his progress on the spot before heading for Lake Town. Pikachu took out his PokéPark Pad and saved his progress.
