"Ooh, done" said Nova cheerfully as she inspected her white hair. It was now braided into a ponytail.
"You used magic drawn from the most powerful primal source...to braid your hair?" Asked Amequs in disappointment as he walked on through a forest in Xadia
It was currently nighttime and Nova and Amequs were walking through a forest in Xadia.
"What? I couldn't do it when i was human and it's so easy with star magic now" said Nova happily before undoing the braid with a wave of her hand, causing her hair to return to it's long silky form. Her hair was long enough that if she was standing it would reach het knees.
"What was your life like back in your world anyway?" Asked Amequs curiously "other than the whole sickness thing of course"
"...i was...pretty normal, i guess"
"Right—i forgot how dense you were. What was the normal for people your age back in your world?" Amequs rephrased his question tiredly
"Look, things went bad after i got sick and i don't wanna talk about it" said Nova with a grim look. Remembering how her entire life went downhill because of one disease.
"Very well"
"I wish i had magic like this before...hey Amequs, can you teach me magic?" Asked Nova in a serious tone, getting Amequs's attention as she inspected her clothes "doing stuff like this is pretty convenient. Besides I'm gonna need to find a way to protect myself anyway"
Nova was wearing a dark purple sleeveless dress that wrapped around her entire body up to the top of her neck. It expertly went around the odd star mark under her collarbone, making it look as if it was part of the clothes instead of her own body. The mark itself was something Nova could only describe as a...well...supernova, funnily enough (It's the fic's cover in it's entirety, the star and the things around it). Under the skirt, her legs were covered by black leggings and her feet by dark purple boots. All her clothes were adorned with beautiful gold patterns.
"Do you really want to? I'm a very strict teacher" replied Amequs as he stopped abruptly, nearly causing Nova to fall off
"Can you not stop so suddenly! I almost fell!" Nova yelled out angrily as she barely hung onto Amequs
"I'll ask again. Do you want me to teach you?"
"Am i about to sell my soul to you or something?" Asked Nova, slightly afraid of the unicorn's tone
"No, I'm just saying...i will not go easy on you"
"...then yesss?" Said Nova reluctantly, still unsure of what she should do because of the sudden change of tone
Amequs immediately removed Natanova off his back and put her on the ground using magic. "Before i can teach you how to fight, i need to teach you how to NOT fight"
"Uhh, what?"
"There's a special flower that i need you to find. Bring it to me undamaged. It's for something very important. It'll be very useful for your training" Said Amequs calmly "I'll be waiting around here"
"I still can't walk, remember? I'll just trip and fall again" said Nova with a frown as she gestured towards her legs
"Then fly" deadpanned Amequs
"*sigh* okay, I'll try. What does the flower look like?"
"I forgot." Replied Amequs nonchalantly
"What?!" Asked Natanova in disbelief
"I'll remember when i see it" added the unicorn without a care in the world
"How am i supposed to kno-" Nova was immediately cut off by Amequs's sarcastic voice
"Yes, if only there was a primal source of magic that can allows divination and cosmic vision. Hmm, if only."
"I get it. Figure out all the spells i need to go out there and find the flower" grumbled a grumpy Nova as she crossed her arms "jerk"
"You're a smart kid...just very dense. You'll figure it out" replied Amequs calmly "you just have to see which one is fated to be given to me"
Nova rolled her eyes before she took three steps away before falling face first into the ground in the process of the fourth one.
"I hate you"

After less than a minute of trying; Natanova managed to push herself off the ground and float using magic. The reality altering part of star magic really was a blessing.
Nova floated through the forest for a few minutes before asking herself "Okay...how do i do this?"
She looked up to see the starry night above her. She has always liked watching them and connecting the dots to make the full hidden picture. It was enchanting and beautiful. Maybe that was why she became a startouch elf instead of a moonshadow elf even though, from she had read back in her world from the internet about this show, in Xadia the moon is associated with death and she was probably dead, never to see her family again.
Nova quickly slapped herself to shake those thoughts away. She couldn't change the past and there was no way to go back to earth. This is her life now and she has to accept it, whether she likes it or not.
Nova turned back to matter at hand. She thought about the spells she preformed up until now. Except for her constellation calendar, they were all small spells that didn't even require her to say anything.
A part of her was a bit thankful for the free time she got from being sick before she came here. Learning latin was not what she would've been doing if she hadn't been ill.
She thought of the words she'll use. She had to come up with a spell that would let her see where she needed to go. She then remembered Amequs's words "That's it! See fate!...okay, here goes. Visus Fati!" Her eyes glowed as well as the symbol under her collarbone. Eventually, the symbol returned to it's usual brightness, but her eyes didn't.
Nova looked all around her. Stars appeared everywhere inside of everything. It was an odd sight to behold, but something weirded Nova out: the spell wasn't giving her what she wanted.
"That's great, not what i expected. Did i mess up the spell or something?" She asked herself in confusion as she picked a small insect from a tree before she remembered something "maybe i DID do it right."
Natanova immediately grabbed a stick from besides her "I will crush this bug regardless what this shows me" she declared to herself "this should give it a sealed fate"
Nova began drawing the stars she found on the bug and tried to connect them. She did multiple time to no avail...until
"These are...aren't these on the key of Aaravos?" She asked herself, in front of her, drawn on the ground, were some on the symbols for the primal sources that were on the key of Aaravos. In front of her were the symbols for the moon and earth. The moon was larger than the earth symbol that was flipped upside-down and they were connected with a star in between.
Natanova was trying to think of how she could solve this, but before she could...she heard a stomach growl from beside her.
She looked next to her. There was jaguar looking beast that was black and cyan in color. It's mouth had a few porcupine quils piercing through it. Nova immediately flew upwards in fear, barely dodging a slash from the beast.
The beast tried to quickly climb a tree and pounce on Nova. However, Nova saw that and and flew as far as possible from the tree.
Once she was safe, the beast disappeared into the forest...but didn't leave. Usually one would think the beast is no longer there, but Nova; using her new spell; could see the the primal symbols insi- she could see the symbols!
"Okay, everything is going too fast. One thing at a time" said Nova as she looked around her, the stars that made up the symbols of the moon and earth were now connected, she could see them without having to draw anything. "So i only have to recognize them once."
Nova thought about for a second before turning back to the beast. It was still there...watching her carefully. She shivered as she looked at it. She remembered the quils that went through it's jaw.
"It must desperate for easy food if it's injured like this" saod Nova remembering the stomach rumble she heard from the creature "doesn't matter, i just have to find the flower and get out before dawn"
Before she could take off however, she noticed the bug still in her hand half crushed. Nova looked at it for a few seconds before ending the small creature.
And with that, she began looking for the flower while trying to learn how to use her new spell to it's fullest.

"Okay, i think i figured it out" Nova told herself excitedly "you grab the symbolisms of the large symbols and find the exact one using the smaller symbols connected to them and if a symbol is upside-down, the meaning is flipped too. Two big connected symbols mean equal possibility or a sentence or... something else, i still don't get it. I'll have to ask Amequs"
Nova had killed a lot of bugs she pulled using magic on the way to figure this out. She only understood this out because she knew that the moon symbolizes death among other things. Earth symbolizes endurance and possibly healing from what she remembered. A small flipped earth connected to a big moon should point to the moon glyph symbolizing death.
It was the only thing that she actually understood and she only understood it because SHE was the one causing the death here.
"Okay, i think i spent too much time on bug hunting. Let's go find that flow-" she said before noticing something; a bed of flowers. One of the flowers had stars in them arranged in a symbol that she hadn't seen yet. It was the only one with normal stars.
Nova immediately connected the stars and saw it, the symbol for the star primal. It was just like any other normal flower next to it, but for some reason; it was marked with the star primal.
It was clear this was the flower Amequs wanted.
Nova used her magic to pull the flow- "huh, why isn't this working?" She pulled again and again but the flower wouldn't budge. She tried pulling out a flower from the ones next to it. It came to her without any issue.
"That insane donkey" uttered Nova angrily. She knew what Amequs wanted her to do. She looked at the beast that was STILL FOLLOWING HER "i have to make that thing cut it without damaging the flower"
She couldn't come up with any spells that could cut it from the distance. Her magic was definitely stronger than her noodle arms so pulling it like that isn't possible. The only way was to get that oversized moon cat to cut it instead.
Nova really wanted to kick Amequs in the leg right now.
_-_-_
"Ooh, what a nice flower bed" said Nova cheerfully as she skipped her way to the flower and kneeled towards it, trying to take it out of the ground. She looked as defenseless as a legless bunny "i really hope I'm not attacked while I'm taking one of these beautiful flowers!"
Her voice echoed loudly in the silence of the night. She had silently created something of a mirror that allowed Nova to see behind her using star magic.
Nova could see the beast silently sneaking up on her. She prepared to fly away the moment it attacks.
The beast slashed and Nova dodged while putting the flower's stem in her place. It was successfully removed from the ground.
Then she made a run for it. The beast followed her without a second thought.
It was nearly dawn, she had to make it to Amequs quickly. The star primal was still powerful during daytime, but it was slightly weaker. To an experienced mage, this wouldn't have been a problem, but to someone who has only been in this world for less than a week, that small bit of power was very much wanted.
"Amequs!" Nova yelled in a panic as she flew towards the location Amequs was at as the beast followed her without stop
Finally, she made it to that crazy donkey, Amequs. He saw her situation and quickly blasted the beast away with a beam of light from his horn.
"Did you get it?" He asked calmly
"Here it is." said Nova tiredly as she held up the flower "What does it do anyway?"
"Yes" said the unicorn calmly as he pulled the flower out of Nova's grasp using magic. He then promptly...ate the flower "it's a tasty snack; my favorite too"
"What?! I thought you said it was important for my training!" Natanova yelled angrily
"Of course it is! I can't teach you on an empty stomach!" Exclaimed Amequs as if he was offended "i brought more snacks if you want some" he said as he showed a bag he somehow acquired
Nova's blood was boiling at this point. It caused to kick Amequs in the leg as hard as possible
"Ow! That hurt a lot!" Amequs sarcastically "i will never recover from such a powerful attack"
The starry freckles on Nova's cheeks glowed as she glared at Amequs. It was as if they flushed.
"You've done a good job and learned about the kind of danger you'll find in this world. You've also learned a new spell" Said Amequs calmly "it wasn't a waste, so hop on. You have a lot of work to do"
Nova sighed and got unto the unicorn's back. There was a long journey ahead.
I hope you liked the way i did the divination in this fic. I didn't want something that could just outright see the future, but makes something can be figured out from what is seen.
