"I'm not sure I'm following. What's going on exactly?" Natanova asked in confusion

"That boy, Aelius, he's an orphan. was raised here among warriors. It drove him to work hard to become one too, but he doesn't have what it takes. The worse thing is that some elves here are pushing him to it. At this rate, he'll only get himself killed"

'Sunfire elves can be very stubborn. I'm not surprised that kid's still trying' Amequs said telepathically

Nova nodded to Amequs's words "So you plan on making him a mage?" She asked curiously "is that why you brought me here?"

Janai started walking away "I never knew he could become a mage. I just wanted to know that i wasn't making a mistake" she said calmly "I'll get your reward after this"

Nova went silent as Janai walked away. "This will never work out." Said Amequs calmly

An idea suddenly popped into Nova's head. Amequs shook his head, hoping that Nova doesn't try any further, but Nova already had her mind set.

"Wait!" Said Nova, causing Janai to stop in her track "...I think i know of a way to make him into a good warrior."

Janai raised a brow before Nova flew towards her and whispered in her ear.

"Why are you whispering? We're alone and talking about training."

Natanova laughed a bit at her own actions before replying "sorry, i got too carried away"

Then, Nova started explaining her plan to Janai.

_-_-_

Janai accepted the plan pretty quickly and headed into the training grounds to tell Aelius about it.

Nova didn't know what she said to the delicate looking golden haired boy, but it sure looked like she had spooked him quite a bit.

And now, Nova sat in front of Aelius in an empty training grounds, ready to turn him into a warrior...or at least something like it.

Amequs, who was restint near them watched as Nova made the first move.

"Hello" Nova greeted with a smile "my name's Natanova, but you can call me Nova. I'm a startouch elf and I'll be your teacher for the next couple of weeks."

Aelius didn't look...pleased with this development. His golden eyes glared at her as he growled angrily, he looked like an animal that was about to bite her if he got the chance.

"Are you not going to intr-"

"I don't want to become a mage!" Aelius declared with a scowl

It seems the kid misunderstood what Janai said...or maybe she said something that could easily be misunderstood; Nova couldn't tell.

"I'm not trying to turn you into a mage" Nova clarified calmly

"But-"

"At least not in the traditional sense." Said Nova with a smile "I'm going to turn you into a magic swordsman!"

Aelius looked utterly confused, prompting Nova to continue.

"Your problem is that you don't have the talent nor the arm strength to become a regular warrior. Heck, you're older than me, but we're the same height." Said Nova calmly "but with magic, we can fix that. Have you ever used magic before?"

"Yes...a few times" said Aelius, still wary of Nova's intentions

"Good, that means you know the basics" said Nova before conjuring a small knife made completely out of light using magic "you'll be training to make something like this."

Aelius looked at her as if she was an idiot

"That's star magic, i can't do that" he said rudely with a frown

"I meant do it with sun magic" Nova deadpanned

"That's not how it works" Aelius deadpanned

"You know the sun is just a star, right?" Nova asked raising a brow before Aelius gave her an odd look "what did you think the sun was?"

"A giant ball of fire" Aelius replied with a frown

"Well, up close, stars are like that too. So the two magics do cross at some points" said Nova as he pulled out a twig she brought beforehand and cut it using the knife made of light. After doing so, she showed Aelius the result. Two smaller slightly burnt twigs.

Seeing how the light of the stars could burn too, Aelius became a little more interested...and when they found out sun magic could make him physically stronger, he became a LOT more interested.

_-_-_

Honestly, Nova didn't know what to expect from the boy. Maybe an explosion or something, but no. Despite how very delicate the boy looked, he had quite an attitude. Regardless, she tried teaching him how to make a light saber with magic.

It was a bit of selfishness on her part because she did want to see a real light saber.

She trained him with Amequs's help and he was taking in his magic practice like a sponge.

It was only when the second week started that all of Nova's hopes for a light saber were shattered.

Aelius decided not to follow the path of the sword nor to follow the path of the full mage. He did something else entirely.

"How did this happen?" Nova asked in confusion as she stared at Aelius

"I don't know" replied Janai calmly "he just went up to me and asked if he could still be in the army if he does...that. i guess it worked out."

Nova watched Aelius stunned by the scene, he chose the path of...punching things with magic.

"I thought he was physically frail?"

"Me too. Seems like magic fixed that'

"T-then why won't he use a normal sword?" Nova asked in confusion

Janai shrugged causing Nova to sigh. At least she helped Aelius and soon got her mirrors.

Sadly, she didn't get to see a firesaber.

_-_-_

After thanking Janai for said mirrors, Nova and Amequs headed to tall hill overlooking empty plains.

Natanova set the mirrors on the ground and waited till nighttime before she began making the nexus.

Amequs watched carefully as Nova floated above the middle of the floor of mirrors she set up. Her eyes glowed as well as the symbol on her chest.

"Amequs, do you remember what i said about the sun being a star?" Asked Nova with a smile and Amequs nodded "so why are the two different primals if they're the same thing? Simple, it's what they give us and how they give it. The sun gives heat and therefore fire. The moon can partially disappear and therefore illusions. So what do the stars give us?"

Soon, the stars began appearing on the mirrors... but it wasn't normal. Each mirror only held one set of stars each...a constellation.

"Stories, guidance, mysteries..."

Amequs's eyes widened metaphorically as he realized what she was doing.

"And they give it in the shape of constellations. So the way to make the magic stronger isn't to concentrate it's light, but to isolate it...to make the image clearer"

The constellations on the mirrors soon got connected by Nova using light, making them much more understandable.

Amequs could only sigh as the power of the stars surged through him.

"This isn't fair. You can't use yourself as a part of the nexus" Amequs sulked

"Hey, it works. You can't deny that" said Nova happily, knowing that she had won against that stupid donkey (her words not the narrator's) "don't worry, i let you talk to me casually...sometimes."

Amequs sighed before he lowered his head as his horn started glowing.

"Uhh, you don't have to bow. It was just a jok-"

"I'm not bowing you idiot" Amequs deadpanned before his horn was split in half. One half stayed on Amequs's head and the other was moved under Nova "go up a little more"

Nova was worried for Amequs, seeing that he split his horn in half, but she complied and flew higher.

Using the power of half a unicorn horn and the power of the half baked nexus to create a circular house with a flat mirror like roof and where Nova used herself as part of nexus was a giant crystal, one that did exactly what Nova did to get the nexus to work except much better.

Turning from the her new home to the exhausted Amequs, Nova flew towards him and checked on him

"Amequs, are you okay?" Nova asked in concern.

"I didn't cut it whole, so it'll grow back soon" said Amequs tiredly "now if you'd excuse me, 'master', I'm going to take a nap. Don't wake me up."

Nova wanted to punch him at that moment, but left the unicorn to rest as she began exploring their new house and she liked it. Especially the nexus crystal that constantly spun at a slow pace to match the stars and even FILTERED out sunlight to allow the nexus to work without ever stopping.

It was incredible, living in such a place filled with magic.

Sadly, someone wasn't pleased with her work.

_-_-_

Months passed and Natanova became quite famous among the elves.

She was known as the seer who'd give you a look into your future for a small offering like some decorated kitchen utensils, drawings, food or basically anything. The elves really seemed to like her. Even Aelius visited her a few times, still not fixing his rude tone.

Alas, that peace could only last for so long.

When Avizandum, The Dragon King, caught wind of the existence of a new startouch elf, he was less than pleased. So he gave Nova a visit with the intention of extermination.

Natanova, faced with a being so powerful he could afford to not kill Aaravos and trap him instead, could only do one thing: beg for her life.

What do you expect her to do? That thing fought an Archmage who's a master of all types of magic with a considerable leeway.

Nova planted her head in the ground and hoped Avizandum would spare her...her begging didn't change anything...what did, however, were the pleas of the elves who she helped. Never was she more thankful for them.

So, instead of killing her, Avizandum decided to imprison her in her nexus and not with a barrier, but with her life.

Her body became unable to support itself without the nexus. Heck, even with the nexus she could barely lift a stick with both hands. It really made her curse Aaravos for starting this.

Luckily, her magic wasn't affected. She could still use it to it's fullest without any problem.

"Looks like you and weak bodies have quite the relationship, don't you?" Amequs said calmly as a joke. It was a couple of days after her imprisonment.

"I won't be for long. I just need to find a way to fix this" said Nova in frustration as she stared at the starry sky in a chair

"How? The spell was made to kill you if you ever remove it and that is IF. The only thing keeping you functional is this nexus-"

"That's it!" Nova exclaimed before getting an odd look from Amequs "we'll just build another nexus!"

Amequs was about to retort before he realized that it was indeed possible. His horn already grew back and they could use magic to create mirrors and materials out of the earth around them-

"And another!" Added Nova excitedly "and more!"

"What?" Asked Amequs in confusion "wouldn't it be difficult to maintain all of-"

"A tower! We'll build a tower of star nexi." Nova said cheerfully, stunning Amequs at the idea.

And that was how Natanova began creating a grand tower filled with magic as a home.
