Okay, due to a few well made points, I've decided to rewrite this chapter slightly, since I do agree with the points made that you guys made and this is the way I wanted to write the story this way originally, I just didn't think I'd be able to pull it off until now. Hope you guys like it.
Okay, here's a list of Flash trophies that will be showing up in this story. The Reverse Flash suit, the Thinker's thinking cap and his chair, Weather Wizard's wand, Grodd's telepathic crown, Cicada's mask and dagger, a sample of Bloodwork's blood, Prank's acid gun, Pied Pieper's gauntlets and weaponized hearing aids, any meta tech and any other items that I can't think of at this moment that might be found in the hall of villains in the Flash museum.
"Wait, Henry, are you sure?" Tina asked her husband after he told her about how he was rescued.
"Yeah, I'm positive it was Barry who saved me. Especially since he confirmed it himself." Henry said.
"You know this means we have to tell him now. And honestly, you should've told him after Nora died." Tina said.
"He was safer not knowing." Henry said.
"Well I don't think you have a choice but to tell him now. Especially since he'll need your guidance." Tina said.
"I know. And I always knew this was a possibility." Henry said as Barry finally joined them.
"Dad, are you okay?" Barry asked.
"Yeah Barry, I'm fine. Thanks to you." Henry said.
"What are you talking about?" Barry asked.
"Barry, I know it was you who saved me from the man who killed your mother. Especially since you confirmed it to my face. My son is the Flash." Henry said and Barry sighed, knowing the jig was up.
"Yeah, I am and I have to admit, I thought you'd be a lot more surprised by this." Barry said and Henry sighed as Tina nudged him.
"That's because I've been expecting this day for a long time. Since the day you were born actually." Henry said.
"Wait, what are you talking about?" Barry asked, confused.
"Barry, you're not the only one who's been keeping secrets. I've been keeping a big one from you your whole life and I think it's finally time I told you the truth." Henry said.
"About what?" Barry asked, wondering where this was going.
"About me. About who I really am." Henry said.
"What are you talking about?" Barry asked as Tina placed her hand on her husband's shoulder.
"Henry Allen is not my real name." Henry said.
"Wait, what do you mean it's not your real name?" Barry asked.
"I changed my name to Henry Allen a few years before I met your mother." Henry said.
"Okay, but why? What's your real name?" Barry asked as Henry took a deep breath.
"My real name is Jay Garrick." Henry or rather, Jay, said and Barry felt like a thousand bricks were falling down on top of him as pieces began falling into place.
"Jay Garrick." Barry said and Henry nodded.
"And that's not the only thing I kept from you." his father said as he held up his right hand and to Barry's shock, it began vibrating at super speed.
"You're a speedster." Barry realized, not believing this.
"Yeah and in fact, I was once the Flash." Jay said and Barry now had to wrap his head around that idea.
"Wait, what do you mean that you were once the Flash?" Barry asked.
"Barry, have you ever heard of the Justice Society of America?" Tina asked.
"Vaguely." Barry said, since he was guessing that the JSA's history was different on this earth than on the old one.
"The team formed back in the early 90s, made up of the greatest superheroes of that time. Hourman, Dr. Midnite, Starman, Wildcat, Green Lantern, Hawkman, Hawkgirl, Dr. Fate, Sandman and Johnny Thunder and the Thunderbolt." Jay said.
"And your father, the original Flash." Tina said and Barry honestly wasn't even that surprised.
"What happened?" Barry asked.
"That's a long story." Jay said.
"Well, I've got time and I think that owe me that story." Barry said.
"He has a point, Henry." Tina said.
"You don't have to call me that anymore Tina." Jay said.
"I think it's safer for all of us if I do." Tina said and Jay or Henry nodded.
"Okay then, I guess I should start at the beginning. When I first got my powers." Henry said.
"Okay." Barry said.
"It happened back when I was in college. I was working in the lab late one night, trying to work on an experiment to try and purify heavy water, but I somehow ended up inhaling some of those vapors, which somehow gave me a connection to the speed force." Henry said.
"It activated his dormant metahuman gene. And do you want to know the first thing your father did when he got his speed?" Tina asked.
"This should be good." Barry said with a grin.
"He decided to use it to join his college football team." Tina said.
"Really dad?" Barry asked with a chuckle.
"I had a lot to learn. But after I graduated from college, I decided to use my speed to help people and eventually, I was recruited to the JSA." Henry said.
"So, why didn't you ever mention this before?" Barry asked.
"Because the JSA disbanded a few years before I met your mother and after I did, I was planning on retiring. I changed my name to Henry Allen not long after I retired and shortly after that, your mother and I got married." Henry said.
"Did mom know?" Barry asked and Henry nodded.
"Yes, she did. In fact, one of the things that drew her to it was that like me, she didn't like staying in one place for long. Or at least she didn't until she met me. We settled down, got married and eventually had you." Henry said.
"So, why haven't you ever mentioned the JSA before?" Barry asked.
"Because they were wiped out." Henry said.
"Wait, what?" Barry asked.
"Barry, do you remember how our first Christmas after your mother died, I had to leave?" Henry asked.
"Yeah, I remember being incredibly pissed at you for that, since it was my first Christmas without my mom and I needed you." Barry said.
"What happened was that I was called back into action against the JSA's enemy, the Injustice Society of America. Despite a lack of trust, the JSA had slowly been reforming for years since we heard that the ISA was reforming, but I didn't want anything to do with it. The pain of losing your mother was still fresh. My priority was being there for you. But when I heard about the numbers the ISA had, I knew that even if things weren't the same as they were before, I owed it to them to try to help. But, the ISA won and almost the entire JSA was wiped out, I barely managed to escape." Henry said.
"I remember that when you came back the next day, you weren't the same. You were bitter and neglective and drunk." Barry said and Henry flinched at the reminder.
"Yes, I was not my best self back then. I was still dealing with my grief over losing your mother and on top of that, I now had to process the deaths of so many of my friends, it became too much for me." Henry said.
"It wasn't until I came back into your father's life, since we'd originally met in college, that he started to put his life back together, since I helped him realize that even though his friends were gone, he still had something to live for. His son." Tina said.
"Well thank you Tina. But why didn't you tell me about this sooner?" Barry asked.
"To protect you. Barry, I'm positive that the ISA is still out there somewhere, searching for me and the other JSA members who got away. I couldn't put you in danger, especially since there was no proof that you'd inherited my powers until now. My guess is that the particle accelerator explosion combined with the lightning strike you were struck with is what finally activated your dormant meta gene." Henry said.
"Who else survived the attack?" Barry asked.
"Hourman and Starman's sidekick Stripesy, though he was never an official member." Henry said.
"Do you know where they are?" Barry asked and Henry nodded.
"Blue Valley Nebraska." Henry said and Barry could tell that this was as much as he was getting out of his dad.
"I'm guessing that like you, they have families?" Barry asked.
"Yes, though much younger than you." Henry said and before Barry could respond, Henry's phone rang.
"Hello, hey Pat, what's up?" Jay asked his old friend before hearing him talk on the other end of the call.
"Okay, yeah, I'll see you this weekend." Jay said as he hung up.
"Who was that?" Barry asked.
"That was Pat Dugan, aka, Stripesy. He was asking me to meet him in Civic City this weekend for something that I cannot tell you about without his permission." Henry said and Barry nodded.
"Dad, do you mind if I tell Iris this? She already knows about my powers and so does Joe." Barry said and Henry nodded.
"Iris and Joe are fine, but no one else for right now." Henry said and Barry nodded, though he knew that was not going to happen, since there were several people he needed to tell about this development.
Hope you guys like this new version better and I hope you think I did a decent job of bridging that gap.
