Interlude
Distant chatter of the civilians were heard as Chaos looked down at his notes, going through all the jobs he'd went for.
Writing through them all in crosses as well.
He walked across the busy streets of Second Milita, feeling a bit annoyed that all of his previous jobs ended in failure.
Chaos just couldn't simply find the one, everyone had such specific reasons of who they were actually looking for.
Upon searching through his bag, he found the city's central map.
Of course much to his expense, the rest of his work related papers flew from out of his bag.
In a desperate last resort, he tried to snatch them back but it was too late, they'd already flown away out of his reach.
With a shake of his head, Chaos simply sighed and continued his search.
Ignoring the setback, his finger moved over the map, to try and at least find some sort of recruiting agency.
Sure enough he found one, on the corner next to a cafĂȘ called Moby Dicks.
For the first time for the day, he'd felt some relief enter him at long last.
"A cafe, I can at least take a break before I start jobseeking again."
Chaos looked around the massive shopping center while also looking for the cafe itself.
He'd been told by Jin to come here if he'd wanted a job, however what he didn't tell him beforehand was that Second Milita was a very populated city.
Finding jobs was often quite difficult due to the city first opening, and that everyone took every opportunity that they could get their hands on.
Once his eyes had met the sign, he was positive that this cafe was the perfect place to unwind.
With a gentle push and a sigh, Chaos opened the door to see a old fashioned bar.
On his left he saw another individual drinking on one of the stools, who looked absolutely wasted.
Occasionally from time to time, the man's body would wobble he'd been that tipsy.
However what caught Chaos' attention more, was the form on the table.
Funnily enough it was a job application form, just even seeing the form had brought immediate excitement in his eyes.
Whoever this person was he was certainly looking for someone to give a job to, hopefully it wasn't something along the lines of drink consoling.
Once Chaos had finished observing him from the back, he wanted to at least wait out until the older man was a bit more sober.
"C-Can I get another of these, I need to at least drink my pain away- and this stupid friggin' debt of mine." His big semi muscular hand facepalmed his face.
Even if he did lash out Chaos would've been more than prepared to fight back, after the mediating that is.
His heart suddenly stopped once the stranger had made eye contact, Chaos couldn't decide if he'd felt clueless on what to say or merely felt threatened.
But it wasn't until he spoke out, sounding quite nice and inviting for a depressed and pissed drunk.
"Hey, what's the likes of you standing around here for? *hic* Sit down and have one! It's on me."
Chaos never touched a single drip of alcohol before, since he constantly liked to be on task and not distracted.
He rose both his hands before shaking his head.
"Oh I'm sorry, I don't drink. I'll- I'll be more than happy to be by your side though with something else though."
He flinched waiting for a good punch to the face, but instead heard a hearty laugh.
"Have you ever thought of getting some kind of job? With that mature attitude you'd do very well."
Damn, just hearing that had already made him feel even more down.
It was a terrible reminder of how today's job search went.
"I've been searching all day, and I still can't find someone who'll accept me."
The man abacked for a moment, absolutely shocked once he'd thought of the "reason" why.
"Wait, you're saying they're all they're some kind of pack of ugly racists? Bah!"
He took off his unsusal hat before looking back at sad boy, "H-hey don't feel so down all right?"
"How about this-- after we have some time to ourselves. Meet me at my ship The Elsa, then we'll discuss about gettin' yourself nice little job for yourself."
His eyes widened at that, absolutely amazed that he'd even let him have a chance.
"Thank you so much-! Uhh.."
"My apologies, we haven't been introduced."
The man turned his stool over, to now face Chaos directly with a smile back.
"The names Matthews, Captian Matthews."
"Whatta' about you?"
The boy grabbed a stool before raising his hand up to the bartender, "It's Chaos, I'm glad you've considered at least seeing me out first. Most of them wouldn't even let me inside."
Matthews tutted before he shook his head, "Idiots I say, it's pretty shitty not even letting you inside the goddamn building."
"Well, I believe your capable. Lemme order you somethin' it's pretty hard for an non alcoholic to order here."
"Perhaps some milk or-"
Chaos immediately countered at that with a laugh, "I'm not that young, I'm at least... 21."
He hoped that the lie would work, he didn't actually know how old he really was.
Many people assumed he was at least 21 just by his looks alone, he couldn't even remember his hometown.
He remembered someone called Mary, but that was about it.
Everything else was- like a hazy and incomplete dream.
A mess of dreamscaped images, an unsolvable puzzle in better words.
"Just some soda will be fine, any kind."
While Matthews ordered the lemonade and MORE of his own kind, Chaos took some time to look around the bar.
