Hello and welcome back! I was so surprised and happy to see that a few people have read and followed this story so I was overjoyed that people liked it, so thank you to all of you reading this right now! This chapter is going to be about Mikoto and Touma having a few chats, oh wait... I think the ENTIRE chapter is just them talking... well idk so continue reading to find out!
Review Replies:
Sagnik Deb: Thank you for saying that my story has potential it was nice to know someone liked it!
Rekuta: Hi there again! Yes, I do believe my story is a lot more relaxed than yours but keep on waiting as a lot of action will come soon in the next few chapters! I'm pretty sure I'll swap between action and relaxed so not an entire hand full of action chapters are lined up behind each other so we can all have a bit of a rest from the action.
Blankow: It's nice to know someone liked my summary. I was trying to make the summary as informative as I could with the words limit but it worked out in the end! My story has sidetracked from canon a bit more than what I originally wanted it to be but hopefully, it will have a good impact on my story!
Just a reminder that any Constructive or Positive feedback is welcome, so don't be afraid to tell me if my story needs fixing because I will read them and reply to your reviews even if it isn't anything constructive!
Chapter 2 - The Hospital Visit
"So you're back again," the doctor said.
"Well sorry to disturb you once more doc" Touma replied.
"Well all we need to do is just stitch and bandage you up, then you'll be all good" the doctor, who is more commonly known as Heaven Canceller, told him.
"Okay, thanks! At least I don't have to stay in the hospital like last time" Touma said relieved.
"Yes, at least not for a while I hope" Heaven Canceller smiled before asking "I see you've brought someone with you this time, so who's she?" He was referring to the middle schooler sitting outside.
"I don't know, she just helped me defeat those thugs and brought me here. She told me that she would tell me after I got bandaged up though" He explained.
"Oh, I see…" He trailed on and then continued "I think I've seen her before though, she looks awfully familiar," Heaven Canceller said thinking hard on where he might have seen this girl.
"Where do you think you might've seen her before?" Touma was curious to know who this girl was.
"What do you mean? There are so many places, On TV, the Internet and the News?" The hazelnut-haired girl asked as she walked in. The Tokiwadai middle schooler thought that something was going on since they were taking a while, and she heard him ask where the doctor might have seen her before. After that, she answered the question for both of them to know.
"What? Are you famous or something?" he asked.
"Yes, I am," she replied, wanting him to figure it out on his own for a little while. He sat there confused "Famous? If she's famous then I must have seen her before, but where from? I know she said TV but what type of famous title can get someone on TV? There's sportspeople, actors, singers,… but she doesn't look like the kind of sort to do things like that." He thought. Touma then decided to ask to find out "How are you famous?"
"I'm… the Railgun," she told him hesitantly as she did not want the big yell of shock to come at her face
Touma was left in shock as she said the word "Railgun". The Railgun is the 3rd ranked level five out of the seven existing level fives and is also the strongest woman in the city. She is an electromaster and since she is a level 5 she's the strongest one! This made sense, she was from Tokiwadai Middle School, she looked like an ojou-sama and she was an electromaster. The girl ticked all of the right boxes but he was so focused on the thug that he didn't even notice!
"Wow! T-that's really cool!" He was surprised that he was saved by one of the most powerful people in the city. He then asked
"Hey umm, What's your name?" He said out of curiosity "Whenever you mentioned they only use your title instead of your real name"
"Yeah, some people don't try to look past my title and only see me as a high-level esper so some people don't really know my name, even a few of my classmates at school just refer to me as senpai or Ms Railgun" Touma felt a little bad for her once she said that "she must not have a lot of friends if no one bothers to look past her title and rank" Touma's thoughts were cut off when she said "But…" the girl paused for a bit "It's Misaka," she continued "Misaka Mikoto".
It took a minute to process but he then said "Does your name really mean Beautiful Blossom, Flower Princess?" He giggled as he realised what her name meant.
"Well yes, but no one has ever realised that yet, only you"
"Well probably because no one really talks to you, like what you basically just said and also because I don't think they'd go out of their way to figure it out. And why are you named that?"
"That is true, but if it's okay with both of you could you please not tell anybody that? It's kinda embarrassing and I want other people to go out of their way to figure it out if they want to know what it means. "
"Sure," he said, and the doctor nodded.
"And my parents named me Misaka Mikoto because well Misaka was my last name but they thought it would suit my last name if my first name was Mikoto as I was born in spring" Mikoto explained as she replied to the boy's second question. "Anyways moving on, nice to meet you, Mr?..."
"Kamijou Touma," He told her.
"So your name means that you're above god and you slay the devil That's a first," She said a little surprised but intrigued by his name which was so specific.
"Well, I am more powerful than god in a way because I negate God's miracles which is why my name means I slay demons because a lot of supernatural things can be monstrous but I also do not like how reality is" He answered but said the last part sternly.
"Why not?" She asked curiously.
By the time he started explaining they'd already exited the hospital and were now sitting on a bench in the hospital's park.
"Well because the world could be better than it is. People can act better to others than some of them do now, and I want a world where everyone can come back smiling" He told her.
"You know that you can't have everything you want right? Even if your fantasy world is really beautiful" Although his dream seemed wonderful, the world can't become what he wants it to be.
"That's why I try to save everyone I can and try to carry their burdens, I can be the one to ask for help and I'll save them" He explained.
"If you carry their burdens, who will carry yours? You also said you alone would save them, but what if others want to help you, what if they want you to ask them for help? What would you do?" She asked him, concerned for the people who knew about his goals and problems.
"I don't want to get others involved in my mess and I want to be the one to rely on, not the other way around," he replied with a determined but also a bit of a saddened expression.
"Okay fine but, why would you want to change the world when It's already a nice and happy place, why would you negate God's miracles?"
"It's what people say I do, negate God's miracles and the world isn't as happy and beautiful as you think," He told her.
She knew he was right, she fought a creature made up of the minds of low-level Espers who used something called Level upper to boost their abilities to be like everyone else. The creature was called an AIM Burst because it was made up of aim diffusion fields. The one who created the Level upper is named Kiyama Harumi and she was trying to create a network that was just as powerful as Tree Diagram, the world's smartest supercomputer created by Academy City. Kiyama was trying to save child errors who were stuck in comas after a human experiment they were the subjects of. The experiment went terribly wrong and it caused them to fall into a coma, they have been sleeping ever since. It was a cruel experiment to test Esper's abilities and what might happen if they lost control of it. Even though Mikoto understood what he was talking about, she never said it out loud.
"Okay, I guess I get what you mean. But then how can you negate "God's" miracles?"
"My right hand has the power to negate any supernatural thing but it also negates my Personal Reality ranking me as a level zero. I also am officially the weakest person in Academy City and to top it off it negates my good luck which means I have misfortune" He explained.
"Well that sucks, like, a lot," Mikoto said giggling
"But I use it to the best of my ability to help everyone and that's enough" The boy replied.
The girl smiled after hearing this "Okay, I guess that's fair"
For a long while, they sat there silent until Mikoto said.
"Kamijou san"
"Please, call me Kamijou," Touma replied.
"Alright then, Kamijou"
"Yes?"
"What do you think of us level-5's?" She nervously asked.
"Well most people would think that they are huge snobs and look down on those who are weaker than them," The unlucky boy said bluntly.
"Did you just call me a snob?!" She said, emitting sparks from her bangs, clearly insulted.
"Don't start going all Biri-Biri on me and besides, I don't think you're like that" Her eyes widened at his words.
"But you just said-" Mikoto was about to say something but was distinctively cut off.
"I said most people would think that when they first meet you, but now that I got to know you a little better I don't think you're like that at all. Look at me, I'm a level-0 and after I told you my level, you didn't tease me or treat me any differently than you did before you knew", That was in fact true, she never did any of the things normal high-level Espers did to lower Espers. Instead, she continued treating him like a normal person.
"Well, what difference does it make? We're all human and we should all be treated the same regardless of our level or ranking, and besides, this is only the second time I've met a level-0 who's not trying to hit on me" She said with a grin on her face.
"I don't know if that was meant to offend me or compliment me," the boy said with a questioning look.
"It was both," She replied, giggling.
"Hey…" He said jokingly but also a little insulted.
"Haha, whatever Baka. Oh yeah! That should be my nickname for you then, Baka" She told him."Hey, why do you get to call me Baka?" He asked.
"Just because," The girl replied slyly.
*Sigh "That used to work when we were kids…" the boy said, trying to get the reason out of her.
"Well I am still technically a kid since I'm not an adult yet," The hazel haired girl said as she countered his attempt to get her reasons out.
"Fukou da (Such Misfortune)" said poor Kamijou Touma as he had given up.
Time passed and they just sat there talking about things like school and what it's like to be a Level-5/0 and so on.
"Well, then I guess we'd better get back to our dorms. It's getting late and it's almost past curfew," He said, knowing he had to go home and make dinner for a certain blue-haired nun.
Mikoto froze at the words 'almost passed curfew' "Oh crap! My dorm manager will break my neck if I miss curfew! Well I should get going now. See you around" she said as she rushed back to her dorm but before she was completely gone she paused to say."Oh and thanks for telling me how you think about me. It made me happy" she said with a smile that made Touma blush.
*Sigh* "She is a very weird girl," Touma said after she left and got up to walk home.
Well, that's the end of that chapter! Hopefully, you enjoyed it and I think this chapter was filled with somewhat of Kamikoto moments. There will be some action in the next chapter for those who just can't wait for some of it so don't worry. Thank you to everyone reading and I will see you next chapter! Bye~
