So... this one has a lot of stuff in it and basically cements the relationships for everyone. I don't get all that into the relationships or show them often thought, so if you're looking for that then just read the first half of this chapter. Also, yes, the Jigglypuff episode isn't ever going to show up in this fic, because... I honestly didn't (and still don't) understand why they put that episode in there. All of the others help the characters grow in some way. So, this happened instead! And it's become an arc that will be finished before I wait until I get the next chapter finished. If I don't finish the arc before the end of December, then you're getting extra chapters! It should be finished by then though... maybe, I need to double check. And yes, this was the chapter I finally put a name to Autumn's father. I just don't know why I chose a name I like.
Note: This one has a lot going on, but it's all in the last half, so if you don't want to read all that, just read until the end of the dance.
Warnings: Fight (not with Pokemon). Injuries. Panic. Panic attack. Abuser shows up. Shock.
Another Note: If the descriptions of the outfits don't make sense, I'm sorry. They make sense to me.
Last Note: Yes, I changed Hollywood to Pokewood for this because they have Pokevision which I feel like is basically You Tube in the Pokemon universe.
Disclaimer: Yeah, Pokemon is not something I would ever be able to come up with. Autumn is mine though.
-Autumn's P.O.V.-
"There's going to be a what?" Sophocles asked.
"A dance," Professor Kukui answered.
It was just a few minutes before the bell would ring when Professor Kukui announced that the school would be hosting a dance. It was for all of Alola (really anyone who wanted to go) but we had to help plan it a bit, "Why were we chosen to do the decorations?" Ash asked.
Kukui looked at me and I understood before he even said anything, "They liked the way the school looked for the Open House and wanted the same team to do the dance."
Lillie frowned, "Autumn was the one who got everything where it should be for the Open House."
Kiawe understood now, along with everyone else, "They want Autumn to design the room?"
He nodded and I resisted the urge to whack my head on my desk, "What's the theme?" Lana asked as Riolu patted my shoulder in sympathy.
"There isn't a theme," Kukui answered, "You just have to decorate it the way you want."
This time, I did let my head hit my desk, "This would be so much easier if they just told us what the theme was," I mumbled.
"Don't worry Autumn," I could hear Mallow beaming, "We'll figure it out together!"
That was harder than they thought it would be, "I never thought coming up with a theme would be this hard," Lana said when Lunch was almost over.
"What else could we do?" Kiawe asked, "None of our ideas would work or just don't fit with a dance."
"What about one of our favorite movies?" Lillie suggested, "Then we could decide on one, right?"
"Autumn and I don't like the same movies," Ash answered, "Although we don't really watch movies that much."
"I guess we need to keep searching," Sophocles slumped in his seat a bit.
"Wait, maybe we don't," I got my laptop out and started drawing on the picture I got of the room earlier that day.
"Do you have an idea?" Mallow asked excitedly.
I nodded, "Why don't we combine all our favorite movies?" I asked, making everyone confused, "We could have it as a movie night, but everyone coming is a star in their favorite movie?" I showed them the rough outline I had to better explain it.
"We're pretending like it's Pokevision, but for the big screen!" Ash beamed.
"Like Pokewood?" Lillie asked.
"Exactly!" I beamed.
"That doesn't sound like a bad idea," Kiawe agreed.
"We could do so much with it," Lana smirked.
"Let's do it!" Sophocles cheered.
The next day, our class time was spent getting the school ready for the dance. There was a 'red carpet' for everyone to enter on and a 'video camera' that took your picture if you wanted. The room was like a ballroom in the movies, sparkling streamers coming from the ceiling with different movie genres scattered throughout the room, but it all seemed to come together. There was a DJ Booth and plenty of room to dance with the buffet tables on the sides. A 'fountain' that was really just a holographic projection was in the middle of the room, making the lights scatter even more around the room, "Wow," Mallow blinked once we were done, "This looks amazing!"
Sophocles took a picture, "This is a lot better than I thought it would be.
Ash just beamed, "I can't wait for the dance!"
That's when Lillie, Mallow and Lana realized something, "We don't have anything to wear!"
I just smiled, "Don't worry. If you come by the house today or tomorrow, then I can finish your dresses in time for the dance."
Lillie smiled, "Is that what those dresses are for?"
I nodded and I was being pulled along by Mallow, "We'll see you guys later!" Lana called back to the boys.
We reached the house in record time, "I'll go first," Mallow volunteered, "I've got to go help at the restaurant."
"Don't worry," I handed her the green dress, "This won't take long."
Mallow's dress was a bit darker green than her hair at the top with a pink ribbon around her waist with a pink flower (the same as the one in her hair) on the right side in the front along with off the shoulder sleeves that were as flowy as her skirt. The skirt was in four layers that started out as the same green as her hair and went to a light green, light pink and finally a pink the same as the flower in her hair that ended on the floor, "That looks…" Lillie didn't finish.
Lana did it for her, "Beautiful!"
Mallow was beaming, "I love it! I can't believe you made this!"
I was concentrating more on how it fit her, "How does it feel?" I asked as she moved around, "Is it too long? Too tight? Too loose? Too short?"
Mallow laughed, "It feels perfect! Although it does feel a bit loose around my waist," She pinched it a bit, "Is it because of the ribbon?"
I shook my head and clipped it before she let it go, "No, I just used a bit too much fabric there when making it. I was worried it would be too tight once I sewed the ribbon on, but I was wrong."
Lana beamed, "I'm next!" I handed her her dress as she went to change into it while Mallow changed back, "You really know us Autumn," She said as she came out and stood on the 'pedestal' to see all of it.
Lana had a white crop top with a skirt that transitioned into an ocean blue that was at the bottom, ending mid calf on her. When she spun it would look like waves coming into shore and instead of sleeves, I made a see-through, light blue shawl that would cover her shoulders a little, "Lana, you look beautiful," Lillie smiled.
Mallow nodded, "Amazing!"
I frowned, "I feel like something's missing," I mumbled, "And it's just not working for me."
Lana just smiled, "I don't know what you would need to fix, but the shawl seems a bit much."
My eyes widened, "That's it!" I quickly fixed the design so her 'sleeves' would just be a tie that tied on the back of her neck, "What do you think of this?" I turned the tablet around to face her.
All of them nodded in agreement, "Alright Lillie," Mallow pushed her into the waiting room with the last dress, "Now it's your turn!"
Lillie's dress was silver that kind of looked like her regular dress. The differences were that her sleeves were longer and flowed off the dress, not attached to a collar, with a flowy skirt that didn't have any designs on it and wasn't pushed into a circle. I did add a white ribbon around her waist that was really thick and made a bow on the right side front of her waist, "Autumn," Lillie told me as she came out, "This is perfect."
"Are you sure? I can make it in white if you want! Or light blue!" I was really worried about the color scheme since she only wore white and light blue, "And I'm going to ask you the same thing. Is it too tight, loose, long or short?" The skirt just barely hit the ground without her wearing shoes.
"It's perfect," Lillie smiled and gave me a quick hug, "I don't think you need to change anything for this."
"I agree," Mallow nodded, "It's just so… Lillie!"
"What about your dress, Autumn?" Lana asked, "I wanna see that."
"It's back at Professor Kukui's," I answered, checking Lillie's dress to make sure everything was as it should be, "I'm going to be bringing it here the day of the dance."
"We could all get ready together!" Lillie beamed.
"We'll come here right after school," Lana agreed.
"And make sure we all look our best!" Mallow finished.
"Don't we have to wait until the boys ask us?" I asked as Lillie quickly changed back.
"That's going to happen," Lana stated, "You're going with Kiawe and Lillie's going with Ash."
"Maybe the others will actually ask you?" Lillie asked as she came out.
"If they do, we can go as a group!" Mallow beamed, "It would be amazing!"
We didn't have anything to worry about actually, since they all asked us in the next few days. Surprising all of us, Ash was the first to ask Lillie. He asked me to make a bouquet of Lillie's favorite flowers, but I didn't realize what he would be using them for, "Lillie," He asked her before school, handing her the flowers, "Would you go to the dance with me?"
Lillie gently took the flowers out of his hand and smiled, "I would love to," Ash smiled, relieved as she gave him a hug.
The next was Sophocles who asked Lana with an invention. He came early that day and set a holographic projector on her desk that projected the words 'Will you go to the dance with me?' In front of her as she sat down.
Lana just smiled and nodded, "I will Sophocles," She answered and he beamed, relieved.
Mallow just leaned over to me and said, "I won," Both Lillie and I had to hand her a few dollars since we didn't think he would ask Lana until after the dance and they would just go as friends.
Then, even though he went on a journey after the Professor's wedding, he came back once he heard about this. Surprising all the boys in the room, we came back into the classroom after P.E. to see Gladion standing by the board with the words, 'Will you go to the dance with me Mallow?' In some of the fanciest handwriting I've ever seen.
Lana and I handed Lillie the money as Mallow nodded, tears coming to her eyes as she tackled him in a hug, "Of course!" And kissed him on the cheek, causing Gladion to turn red.
The last was Kiawe, who didn't ask me in front of everyone else. Instead, he took me to an amazing place with a beautiful pond, "I've been trying to think of a way to ask you," He told me, "But I couldn't think of anything else," He gave me an actual rose that he put in my hair as he asked, "Will you go with me to the dance?"
I nodded, "All you had to do was ask," I smiled, "I will always say yes."
He sighed with relief, "Thank you. I've been worrying about it since Mimo wanted me to make it a big thing, but this was the biggest thing I could think of doing. It was also how I was going to ask you in the first place."
I smiled wider, "This is perfect."
When the others found out the next day, Lillie and Mallow were giving Lana money once more, "How did you know he was going to be last?" Mallow asked.
Lana just smirked, "I've learned a few things from Autumn. He kept on looking at her nervously all week."
"At least we can all still get ready together," Lillie smiled.
"We're going right after school today, right?" I asked
Mallow nodded, "This way, we'll have plenty of time to get ready!"
We left right after school to get ready, all of us excited for the night that was coming sooner than we anticipated, "We're doing hair and make-up first, right?" Lana asked.
"That's going to be the hardest to choose," Lillie agreed, "But maybe you and Mallow should try your dresses on to make sure it's fixed."
"Yes please!" I pleaded, "That way I can fix them while you guys are doing hair and make-up," But I was worried for nothing since they both fit perfectly.
Mallow's hair was pulled into a bun on the back left side of her head with a strand on the right front side of her head that was curled. She had on pink flower earrings that looked exactly like the flower in her hair with her headband wrapped around the bun with the flower on the top side of it. The final touch was a necklace with the same pink flower hanging from it and green sandals straps that looked like vines that went up to her knees. Lana's hair stayed the same, but we put a white headband in her hair instead. She didn't have earrings, but she did have a bracelet that was striped white and blue with an ocean charm hanging form it. She also had a necklace that had a blue heart hanging from it with her shoes being white close toed sandals with blue designs on it, "Should we do make-up?" Lillie asked, "I don't think any of us need it."
"Let's see how much time we have," Mallow suggested, "Then we can worry about make-up," And we continued.
Lillie had a white snowflake necklace with her hair straight down and a bit wavy. She had a silver headband on that also had a white snowflake on the left side and earrings that looked like snow was falling from them. Her shoes were white heeled boots, with a very small heel, "Autumn, we need to see your dress before we help you with your hair," Lana told me.
"We're going to keep it down," Mallow pointed out, "It looks amazing that way!"
"We still need to see the dress to decide on a hairstyle," Lillie added.
"Here," I pulled the dress from the mini closet that was holding all our dresses, "This is what it looks like."
"You're going to need to put it on," Mallow said as she pushed me to a changing room.
"Why don't we all get in our dresses?" Lana asked.
"Great idea!" Lillie beamed and soon, we were all in our dresses.
Mine was a fire red with a sleeve on my right shoulder with a form fitting top. The skirt reached the floor and was flowy, but you could still see the entire skirt. It was brown, but you couldn't tell because of the red overskirt on it that split onto a triangle on the left side in the front, "What do you guys think?" I asked, twirling for them.
"We know exactly what to do with your hair," Mallow smirked and I was pushed into a chair a second later.
My hair ended up being in a side ponytail that went over my left shoulder and was one big curl with a rose clip at the tie. To finish it off, I put on my mothers fully bloomed rose earrings and necklace. Just as I finished clipping the necklace on, there was a knock on the door, "Coming!" Lillie called out as I quickly pulled on my brown ballet flats
The boys were standing at the door, each with a different colored tie, but the same black suits. Gladion had a green tie on and Ash had on a silver tie. Sophocles was a bit different, since his suit coat wasn't even on, but his tie was ocean blue. Kiawe had his suit coat on, but it wasn't buttoned up and he had on a red tie, "Are you girls ready?" Sophocles asked.
Lana stepped forward to take his hand, "We are," And they walked to the car.
We were all going together in one car, but we were most likely going to go home at different times. All of them were speechless as we all walked out of the house, "Wow," Ash was the first one to get his voice back, "You look beautiful," He told Lillie.
Lillie just blushed, "Thank you," Gladion was glaring at Ash a bit, but it quickly died down when he saw Mallow.
I chuckled quietly at his and Sophocles's shocked expressions, then turned to Kiawe, "What do you think Kiawe?" I asked him, looping my arm around his.
He gulped, then smiled, "There are no words I can think of to describe how beautiful you look."
I blushed and barely noticed Ash glaring at Kiawe, "Thank you. You look very handsome as well."
Hobbes stepped out of the driver's side and opened the door for us, "If you don't want to be late, you'd best be getting in."
We quickly got in and were soon dancing around the dance floor. I don't know about the others, but that was one of the best nights of my life. I just wished our Pokemon came with us, but they all decided to stay at their different homes to catch up on rest, train or just hang out with our parents/guardians, "Where did you learn how to dance like that?" I asked Kiawe as we took a break and drank some punch.
Kiawe smiled, "I asked my mom to practice with me so I didn't step on your feet."
I huffed out a laugh, "Ash's stepped on my feet more times than I can count. I wouldn't have minded at all."
"I just don't want to step on your feet on our first date."
"Come on," I pulled him back to the dance floor, "You can step on my feet all you want this time."
Since we set everything up, we didn't have to pick up as other classes were assigned to it. So, when we were ready to go, we just left. We decided to walk home (at least to Professor Kukui's house), "Are you sure your feet are alright?" Kiawe asked as we walked to Professor Kukui's house.
"They're fine," I promised, "Although, next time, let's not try the dip again."
"That's going to require a lot more practice before I try it with you again."
The perfect night was ruined when he appeared, "Staying friends I see," Milan said as he walked out of the forest.
Kiawe quickly pulled me behind him, "What are you doing here?" Kiawe sounded angrier than I've ever heard him, but at that moment, I just wished I had my phone so I could call the police or just… anyone really.
Milan smirked, "What do you think? I'm here to take my daughter," Why did he always say 'daughter' like it was a curse? "Home. She won't be needing you or anyone else in her life, but… that won't matter once I get her home."
Kiawe glared, "You mean I'll never see her again."
"Exactly," Milan smirked as I just started shaking more and more, terrified of what he was planning, "Now, if you don't tell anyone about me, I'll let you go without harm, but if you don't," He pulled out a knife, "Well, my had does slip easily."
"I'm not letting you take her," Kiawe answered, sounding a lot more confident than I felt.
Milan's smirk didn't die, in fact, it got bigger like he was expecting this to happen, "Hypno," He called out, "Use Physic."
Surprisingly, he didn't use it on Kiawe. He used it on me to throw me into a tree and keep me there, "Autumn!" Kiawe tried to run towards me, but Milan stopped him.
At that moment, I was so glad I had taught Kiawe self defense, because he used everything I had taught him to fight Milan and get to me. It even looked like he was going to win, but… it just looked like it. Both of us should have realized that Milan would cheat. He wanted me and he was going to do whatever it took to get me. So, when it looked like Kiawe won and he started towards Hypno, Milan took his chance, "Kiawe! Watch out!" I had never struggled harder than I had in that moment, but I was too late.
Milan already plunged the knife into his shoulder, all the way down to the hilt and pulled it out, "Now no one will know what happened," He smirked and came towards me.
What he didn't realize is that I got out of Hypno's Physic hold, so when he was close enough, I kicked him in the stomach and punched him in the head. He was knocked out cold as I quickly recalled his Hypno (making sure it couldn't come back out) and ran to Kiawe, "Don't worry," I told him as I ripped his shirt and jacket off, "You'll be fine."
He wasn't even conscious anymore, but I kept on talking. Telling him that he was going to be alright and trying to calm 'him' down (which was really just trying to tell myself to calm down) while using his coat and shirt to slow the blood flow, along with some of my Aura so he would heal faster. Sadly, Milan didn't stay knocked out, "He's injured because of you," He told me, coming over to me, "If you weren't friends," He smirked as he changed his mind and went back into the forest, "None of this would have happened," And he was gone.
It took all of four seconds to realize why he disappeared, "Autumn! Kiawe!" Ash cried out as he came out of the limo he was in, "What happened?"
I couldn't answer him. My eyes were filled with tears, making my vision blurry and I didn't want to admit what had happened. Milan was right, if we were never friends, Kiawe wouldn't have been attacked by him. He wants me and I'm not going to let anyone else get hurt because of me, "Let's get him in the car," I heard Hobbes say, "We can take him to the hospital."
Nothing really stuck with me as we were moved into the limo and Hobbes probably broke every driving law to get to the hospital as fast as he could. I just concentrated on using my Aura to help Kiawe heal. There were multiple police cars chasing after us by the time we reached the hospital, but they pardoned us because of what we were trying to do, "How long has it been?" Someone asked.
I just kept on putting pressure on it, "I don't know," Ash answered, "We just found them on the side of the road when I was going home."
Then, Kiawe was taken away and I fought to stay with him, "Let me go!" I struggled against the arms keeping me away, "I need to make sure he's okay! I need-" My voice broke as I finally gave up, crying.
"Is she alright?" Someone else asked as the voices that were talking about Kiawe slowly died down.
"She's experiencing shock," Hobbes answered.
"I'll take care of her," Ash slowly pushed me away, "Come on Autumn, let's get you cleaned up."
He washed my hands gently and even cleaned my dress from the dirt and blood that got on it as well as my mind went blank. Then, he guided me to a chair in the waiting room with a blanket wrapped around me and pulled me onto his lap in a hug. I didn't realize I was still crying and I don't know how long I stayed like that, but I could still hear everything going on around me, "Where is he?" Sima asked as she, Rango and Mimo burst into the waiting room.
"Ash! Autumn!" Rango led Sima and Mimo over to us, "Where's Kiawe? Is he alright?"
"Do you know what happened?" Sima asked, sounding like she was on the verge of crying.
"I don't know," Ash answered, "Hobbes was just driving me home after we dropped Lillie off when I saw them on the side of the road."
"We haven't been able to get the story of what happened yet," Hobbes continued, "But Master Kiawe's injury didn't look nearly as bad as it should have been."
"What do you mean?" Mimo asked, gripping her mom a bit tighter.
"There was a lot more blood there then there should have been," Ash answered, "With the cut I saw, there should have only been about half of what was on the ground."
"Kiawe-" That was as much as the nurse was able to get out before his parents were right in front of her.
"We're his parents," Rango answered, "Is there anything you can tell us?"
The nurse blinked for a moment, then nodded, "The knife wound wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been or was," She answered, looking at her clipboard, "According to what we saw, someone helped him stay alive," Everyone's eyes widened as she looked back up, "If it wasn't for them, he would have been dead before he even got here."
"Autumn was the only one with him before Master Ash and I arrived," Hobbes said, pointing to Ash and I. My tears had finally stopped flowing, but a lone tear escaped me every once in a while. Yet, I couldn't really see anything, like I was there, but wasn't at the same time, "And she has a lot of experience with first aid."
"Well," The nurse nodded towards me, "If it wasn't for her, your son would be dead. Now he is going to have to stay here for a day or two, depending on if he shows signs of infection, but if not then you'll be able to take him home. He won't be able to use his right arm for about two weeks, but after that, he can slowly build up strength in it again. For those weeks, his arm will have to be immobilized, we'll put it in a sling so he can't use it, and he needs plenty of rest."
"Can we go see him?" Mimo asked hopefully.
The nurse nodded, "You can, just make sure you're quiet. He needs the rest," She turned to leave, but quickly said, "He's in room 380," Then left the room entirely.
They came back over to us, "Can she hear me?" Sima asked as she sat right in front of me.
Ash frowned, "I don't know. I think so."
Sima nodded, then smiled, "I just wanted to thank you Autumn. For saving Kiawe's life," She reached towards me, but stopped and stood up instead, "If she doesn't remember," She told Ash, "Tell her thank you for us."
"I will," Ash nodded as his arms wrapped tighter around me.
They shouldn't have thanked me. I was the reason he got hurt in the first place! I was the reason he was stuck in the hospital! I was the reason his family was worried about him and still are! I was the reason… he could still die. The tears started up again once Rango, Mimo and Sima left, "Master Ash," Hobbes asked, "Would you like me to take you and Miss Autumn home?"
"If you wouldn't mind," Ash stood up with me in his arms, "I think it'll be better for her."
My tears slowed down by the time we reached the Professor's house and they must have heard about what happened because they were both waiting for us when we arrived, "Are you two alright?" Professor Kukui asked as Ash started up to the porch.
"I'm fine, but Autumn's not," The worry was clear in his voice.
Burnet wrapped both of us in a hug that I never wanted to end, but felt like I didn't deserve, "Come on," She slowly guided us inside, "Let's get you two into more comfortable clothes."
Ash set me on my feet as he went to the loft and Burnet continued guiding me to my room, handing me my favorite pair of pajamas. Once I changed, I was bundled up in my fuzzy Lucario evolution blanket and taken to the couch where Riolu and Sylveon jumped onto my lap to cuddle me. Oricorio draped herself across my shoulders as Ash, Professor Kukui and Professor Burnet all gathered around me and we fell asleep that way.
