Today's Special
He'd choose her...
Every single day. Every single minute. He'd choose her. On her best day, or on her worst day, he'd choose her. Through every high and every low, he'd choose her. Failures, mistakes, defeats, he'd choose her. 7 billion people. 7 billion smiles. 7 billion souls. And he'd choose her. Every single day. Every single minutes. With every single breath.
He'd choose her...
Unknown
Klaus raises an eyebrow, not at all impressed at why his brother had dragged him here. "Sophie Deveraux. What is this?"
Elijah nodded towards his brother, "He's all yours. Proceed."
"You know you're famous in this town?" The witch stated, more than asked. "Witches tell bedtime stories about the powerful vampire Klaus. We know Marcel was nothing but an orphaned street rat until you made him what he is. And now he's out of control. He does what he wants. He kills who he wants. I'm gonna stop him... And you're gonna help me."
Klaus scoffed, looking towards his brother he asked, "This is why you brought me here?"
"Hear her out." said Elijah.
"I don't need to hear her out. I assure you, sweetheart, there is not a thing on this earth that will matter enough for me to waste even 30 more seconds of my time." Klaus says, and makes a move to leave, but is stopped by Elijah placing a hand on his chest. "Elijah, what madness is this?"
Haley is brought into the room, "Klaus… You need to listen to them" she pleads.
"You're all out of your mind if you think, some liquor-fueled one-night stand... No offense, sweetheart... Means a thing to me." The hybrid says, rolling his eyes.
"The brunette is not to your liking. How about the blond then?" Agnes smirks, knowing she has the upper hand.
Klaus eyes widen, as a kicking and screaming Caroline is dragged in, her wrists bound. The witch lets her go once she's in the room, surprising the wolf. She turns around ready to start a rant, but is surprised to see Klaus there. She crosses arms and scoffs, glaring at the hybrid.
A flash of hurt flies through Klaus' eyes. He had thought that they had gotten closer, especially after the night they spent together when the veil had dropped.
"Why is she here?" Klaus demands, finally taking the witch seriously, now that Caroline's life was on the line.
"Marcel may be able to keep us from practicing real magic in this town, but as keepers of the balance, we still know when nature has cooked up something new. For example, I have a special gift, of sensing when a girl is pregnant." Sophie explains.
"What?" Klaus asks, confused. Still not understanding how this could concern him or Caroline.
He turns to Caroline, looking for an answer. But the blond still cross with him, refuses to answer. Haley, looking for his attention, speaks up, "I know. It's impossible."
Klaus raises an eyebrow, "What are you saying?"
"Niklaus…" Elijah begins, not exactly sure how to break the news to his brother, "The girls are carrying your child."
Klaus's wide eyes instantly rush to meet Caroline's. Who finally met his gaze. "No." he shakes his head. "It's impossible. Vampires cannot procreate!"
"But werewolves can." Sophie argues. "Magic made you a vampire, but you were born a werewolf. You're the original hybrid, the first of your kind, and this pregnancy is one of nature's loopholes."
"You've been with someone else. Admit it!" Klaus demanded, despite a part of him feeling like someone had stabbed him in the chest, at the mere thought of Caroline being with another.
"Hey." Hey, Hayley protested, needing Klaus to believe the child was his, "I spent days held captive in a freakin' alligator bayou because they think that I'm carrying some magical miracle baby. Don't you think I would've fessed up if it wasn't yours?"
Klaus' eyes narrowed, he was disgusted at the mere thought of Hayley carrying his seed. The only reason he slept with her was his need for an outlet of his feelings for Caroline. Her scent was all wrong, and his wolf wasn't even paying attention to her. His animalistic instinct only focusing on Caroline and the steady thrum of a second heartbeat he could hear humming from inside her.
Caroline finally turned her body to face his. Her guard, relaxing only a bit. "No. I haven't been with Tyler for months." She confessed. "Ever since you put him on the run. The only time I even got close, being when you were in his body. I'm two weeks along Klaus. Do the math."
Klaus' eyes softened at her confession. Two weeks ago, during graduation. 'The pup's ours!' His wolf couldn't help but howl in joy.
Klaus shook his head quickly, doubts of his vampire heritage still coding his mind. "Still, I'm a vampire."
"My sister gave her life to perform the spell she needed to confirm this pregnancy." Sophie growled, remembering her sister's sacrifice for their cause.
"Thank you for putting me in the same league as that slut." Caroline huffs angrily. The news that her baby wasn't even born and was already being put in danger was putting her wolf on edge.
"It's completely different." Klaus tries to reassure her, instead of letting it go.
"How so." Caroline challenges, raising an eyebrow. "Because apparently we were both a one night stand. And now both of us are pregnant with your children."
"You weren't a one night stand." Tells her, his gaze burning. Did she really think that's all they were?
"Really, because to me. It looks like you ran away the second you were done getting into my pants." Caroline says, telling him exactly how she saw it.
"I needed to deal with things here." Klaus tried to explain. Seeing that she wasn't listening, he let out a sigh, and decided to try a different approach. "I actually want yours."
Those were definitely the wrong words. Because as soon as Caroline heard them her eyes flashes and she whipped her head around to face him. Her golden hallo of wild hair only making her appearance more ferocious. "It's not a bread selection klaus. You can't just take one and throw the other in the trash." At his contemplating look, she growls. "Don't even think about chunking a baby in the trash Klaus."
"I was thinking more along the lines of 'accidently' dropping it into the shoot right before the truck comes." Klaus teases, trying to calm her down. "And letting the truck do the rest of the work. I hear that they have shredders these days."
"Of course you'd kill a baby without hesitation." Carolien scofs, completely missing his humor. "I bet you kick puppies on your walks too, well praying for it to rain I bet."
"Caroline, love, I care for you." Honestly Klaus wanted to use a much stronger word. 'Care', couldn't even begin to describe what he felt for her. But sadly in front of their current audience, it was the only word he could use. "But you are extremely difficult to please. So take pity on me, and just tell me what you bloody want"
"God, do I have to spell it out for you!" Caroline shouts. "For you to take responsibility for your actions."
Klaus let out a growl at the thought that Caroline truly thought she'd need to go through this alone. There was no way his wolf was gonna let him leave her side after finding out she was carrying their pup.
As for Hayley, the wolf hadn't so much as reacted to her.
Meanwhile Elijha was watching the scene, his surprise clearly visible on his face. He couldn't even remember the last time someone who didn't share his blood had raisen their voice at Klaus and survived. Let alone talk to him that way.
And it wasn't just because she was pregnant. He knew if Hayley had done it, Klaus would have ripped out her tongue. But not Caroline.
His brother truly cared for this girl.
Sohpie had enough of them bickering like a married couple. "Enough Because of Jane-Anne's sacrifice, the lives of these girls and the babies are now controlled by us. If you don't help us take down Marcel, so help me, these two won't live long enough to see their first maternity dress."
"Wait, what?" Hayley asked, worried about her life.
Caroline on the other hand, took a step bad, her eyes bleeding gold as her hands flew to her stomach and she hunched over a bit to protect her stomach.
Klaus couldn't help but let out a growl at the thought of anything happening to Caroline and their child, and rushed to her side. He ripped off her chains and pushed her gently, behind him.
"Enough of this." Elijah said, stepping up. "If you want Marcel dead, he's dead. I'll do it myself."
"No." Sophie shook her head. "We can't, not yet. We have a clear plan that we need to follow, and there are rules."
Elijah looks at Klaus, awaiting his reaction. His brother despised anyone trying to control him. Klaus let out a growl but was stopped as he heard a quiet voice call out his name.
Klaus looked over his shoulder to see Caroline shaking her head. Despite her hands covering her lower abdomen he could still hear their child's heartbeat.
Their child.
"Fine." Klaus said, turning to the witch. "I'll get what you want done. But if anything happens to Caroline or my child." He growls threateningly.
At the sound, Sophie couldn't help but take a step back and nod.
Klaus puts his hand and Caroline's back, pulling her close he begins to walk out with her, but is stopped by Sophie. "Wait! You can't take her." The witch protested.
The hybrid's eyes flashed gold, he had officially had it with this witch. Turning around he glared at her, and stalked up to her. "Let me make one thing clear. If you think I'm going to let anyone stop me from taking her, you're dead wrong. In fact, you can even forget about the wrong part. I can rip out your heart and just make you dead."
Sophie gulped under his gaze, finally finding her voice, she stuttered out, "I-I'm connected to t-them. B-both of them. If y-you ki-ll me. You-ll only end-d up k-killing them."
Klaus growled, "But you do have a coven don't you. One that you love. Let me give you a demonstration about what will happen if you try to stop me." In an instant Klaus was in front of the witch who had brought Caroline into the room in chains. The startled witch took a step back, but before her foot could land on the floor again, Klaus had struck his hand into her chest, and pulled out her heart.
Ignoring the screams front he witches around him, and his brother's sigh. Klaus dropped the still beating bloody organ in front of Sophie. Who had grown pale.
"Now, I only need to keep you alive. Not your coven. Still want to stop me?" Klaus taunted.
Sophie physically struggled to speak as her tongue grew heavy in her mouth. She never thought it would get this bad. So Agnes stepped forward. "You can take the blond. But the other one stays with us."
"All right. That's fine with me." Klaus answered without hesitation. With a content smile on his face he walked back toward Caroline and began guiding her out with his clean hand.
"Niklaus." Elijah protested, unwilling to leave the other pregnant women behind.
Caroline was with the original on that notion, "Klaus, she's pregnant." The werewolf protested.
"And so are you. If I have to choose between you and her. I'm choosing you. No way I'm going to leave you in a place like this. So now, you're coming back home with me. If I have to carry you out, I will. What's it going to me, love?" Klaus asked.
Thinking of the life growing inside her, Caroline stayed quiet, taking her silence as his answer. Klaus once again began walking out with Caroline.
This time, choosing to ignore his brother's protests.
When Klaus walked back down stairs to get Caroline some more blankets, he was greeted with the sight of Elijah waiting for him.
"Hayley-"
"I don't want to hear about it." Klaus said, walking past Elijah.
"Or do you not want the women up stairs to hear about it?" Elijah retorted.
Klaus instantly had his hand wrapped around his brother's throat, pushing him against the wall he growled, "She has a name. Caroline. I suggest you use it. If I hear you treating her with disrespect one more time, I'll dagger you and you'll consider yourself lucky if you wake up before Finn did."
Elijah brushed his brother off, "I apologize. It wasn't my attention to disrespect Mis. Forbes. That doesn't change the fact that Hayley, the woman currently pregnant with your other child. A Mikaelson child. Is still in the witch's clutches."
"Not my concern. They can kill her for all I care." Klaus rolled his eyes, walking over to grab the blanket he came down for, along with three extra pillows.
"You care for her." Elijah stated.
"I love her." Klaus admitted, surprising himself, just as much as his brother.
Elijah's eyes widened, "I had no idea. But Hayley's child. Brother I implore you to at least consider the child. If you could only extend a fraction of the care you hold for Caroline, to the other mother of your child. Then-"
"Elijah." Klaus called, cutting his brother off. "If I had to choose between Caroline or Hayley, actually no." He corrected himself. "If I have to choose between Caroline or the baby Hayley carries. I will choose Caroline every time. Nothing is more important to me than her safety and happiness. Nothing."
Klaus went back upstairs to find Caroline viciously rubbing at a spot on his desk with the edge of her sleeves.
He sighed, throwing the blanket and pillows onto the bed he called out to her, "Caroline."
The startled woman in question jumped, "Sorry."
Klaus shook his head, "What's wrong, love?"
Caroline walked up to him, but paused, trying to find the words. "Klaus," She began and the man's eyes narrowed, already knowing he wasn't going to like what she had to say. But Caroline went on, "If it ever comes down to the baby, or me. I need you to choose the baby. Our baby. Understood."
Klaus growled, "I won't. I can't. It's not going to happen." He told her, pulling her into his arms.
Caroline felt a warm feeling grow in her chest. Her entire life, all she's ever wanted, was someone to put her first. But this wasn't just about her anymore. It was about their child!
"Klaus." Caroline called, cupping his cheeks the woman made sure he was staring into her eyes, "Please, I need you to promise me. Promise me!" the pregnant wolf begged.
Klaus stared at her bright blue eyes, which were beginning to darken with tears, and he knew. He knew if it ever came down between the child or her. He couldn't choose the child. He just couldn't.
Well he may miss the life that they created, he couldn't even begin to imagine a world without her in it.
Unable to give her the answer she wanted, Klaus reluctantly let her go, and stormed out of the room. Leaving a teary eyed Caroline behind.
Elijah storms into the mausoleum, carrying the body of Jane-Anne that he had demanded from Marcel.
If Klaus wouldn't do anything to protect the other women carrying his child, then he'd have to.
"I bring proof of my intent to help you." He tells the gathered witches. "The body of your fallen friend, which I procured from Marcel himself."
Hayley's face falls at the sight of Elijah. The she-wolf was hoping to see the thousand year old powerful hybrid coming to get her, not Elijah.
"Jane-Anne." Sophie called, a tear gathering in her eye at the sight of her dead sister.
"I will return her body to you, in return for Hayley." says Elijah.
"No we can-" Agnes protests are cut off by Sophie.
"Fine. The girl is yours. But don't forget, she is linked to me. They both are." Sophie reminds him.
Elijah gives a stiff nod, guiding Hayley out.
Klaus came back to his room to find Caroline absentmindedly standing on the balcony, her fingers rubbing light circles on her stomach.
"Klaus." Caroline acknowledged with a quiet voice.
Klaus sighed and walked up to her, he wrapped his arms around her, but found her still stiff under his touch.
He knew there was only one way to fix this, "I promise." Klaus whispered into her ear. Instantly the blond wolf relaxed under his touch.
But what the expecting mother did not know was that when he said the words. He had absolutely no intention of keeping them.
Because at the end of the day.
If it ever came down to a choice between their child, or her.
He'd always choose her.
I'll be honest, the main reason I even wanted Hayley to be pregnant in this fanfic, was so I could show how differently Klaus would react to hers, vs Caroline's.
As this chapter should have clearly told you, I don't like Hayley. I literally had a note at the bottom of my page which reminded me to: GO BACK AND INSERT AS MUCH HAYLEY BASHING AS I POSSIBLY CAN!
There's going to be a lot of Hayley and Cami bashing in the story. Plus a bunch of rants in the notes about how much I hate them. I'm warning you in advance.
I'll mostly be watching the Originals AS I write this fanfiction. So if some things seem like I, myself was confused, It's because I probably was. So just be nice, enjoy the Klaroline moments, and go along with it.
But I was thinking of letting season 3 happen (Is it the one in Aurora in it - ?), just without the prophecy.
I'm also not so sure how I feel about certain season *cough* season 5 and maybe the hallow concept all togather *caught*. Sorry, I had something in my throat. Anyway, so yeah. I may make some major plot changes. I might decide to replace that all together with more Klaroline and family scenes.
I also have some major changes planned, for when this story flows into the legacies.
This idea isn't set in stone yet, but it is the general/current/only plan I have for the story right now.
What do you guys think?
Anyways,
Klaroline for life!
