Arden screamed in annoyance as Rip disappeared through a portal. Inside Rory's mind, the Centurion, which was the only part fully aware, watched in relief. Unfortunately, whatever had been done to Rory meant that although the Centurion was aware, he couldn't break through and take control.

"Where did he go?" Arden yelled, turning red.

"Unknown sir," the guard stated, "He opened a portal we've never seen before."

Edrea appeared from the lab behind Rory, "I have reviewed Captain Hunter's file and it is likely he invented it. There are multiple instances of him making something out of scraps. It's a pity he's a traitor. I would love to have that brain working for me."

"We have the Waverider," Arden noted, visibly forcing himself to stay calm, "You can have your people download all the information from it and find blueprints for everything he's invented."

Edrea nodded with a sigh, "Not the same as having him create new things for me. I take it conditioning him is not an option."

Arden frowned, "Never. Rip Hunter must die." He turned to where Rory was still standing watching, "Mr Williams here will kill him for us when he returns."

"You're sure he'll come back here?" Edrea asked.

"One thing I know about Hunter," Arden replied with a cold smile, "Is how disgustingly sentimental he is. Discovering he has a twin brother means he will try to rescue Mr Williams at some point. Not to mention he will want the Waverider back. At that time, you will prove how good your new technique is by having your subject kill Hunter."

Rory heard all this, and the Centurion part of his mind screamed in horror at that thought, but again the apathy filled him dampening every part of his mind. Edrea ordered him back to the lab and without hesitation he followed.

Gideon watched the commotion from her safe space within her matrix in the Waverider. Relieved Rip had escaped, she knew she had to keep herself and all the important information safe until he returned. But she also wanted to find out what they had done to Rory.

Slowly feeling her way through the central computers, Gideon was relieved to find that the new Time Masters had not changed how the systems worked. The AI who ran the Vanishing Point, was not running at full capacity, so she was able to avoid him easily and as she moved a familiar energy was emanating from the central control matrix.

The Oculus, her source of information for so long, her connection to the time stream that had been missing since they had to destroy it, was now here once more and it was calling to her. If she connected with it then she would know everything but then the other AIs might find her and try to turn her against her Captain. Something that would never happen however it would be irritating to deal with.

But if she had access to the Oculus then it would allow her access to the information regarding Rory and what they had done to him.

She weighed up the pros and cons quickly deciding that her Captain's twin brother was more important, she needed to know how to help him.

Reaching out slowly, Gideon brushed against the Oculus, the instant connection to the information stream felt like perfection. The clean purity of the Oculus filled her, and Gideon forced herself not to get lost in it. Concern filled her as she discovered that the existence of the Time Bureau was known to the Time Masters, and she knew she had to find a way to warn them.

As she began to pull back, she felt something grip her, holding on and she was yanked out of her matrix engulfed suddenly in the Oculus.

Information filled her before there was nothing.

The Jumpship was easy to access, and Rip could see it had been converted to hold three stasis chambers. One chamber was occupied while the other two had been readied for his nephews. He was clamping down hard on his anger right now and would find something to punch once they had the child somewhere safe, the Time Masters gone once more and his brother home with his family.

"Amy," he turned to his sister-in-law, "When I open the stasis chamber, can you take care of the child. Make sure they're okay and assure them they're safe while I see what information I can find from the computer?"

"Of course," she nodded and moved to the chamber.

Rip took a seat at the controls and deactivated the stasis chamber first before he began to work on finding out as much information as he could on the new Time Masters. He was distracted hearing Amy talking softly to the waking child.

"It's okay," she said, her voice soft and comforting, "I know you're scared but you're safe. Can you tell me your name?"

"Jonas Hunter."

Rip spun and stared to see his son sitting with Amy, "Jonas?"

"Daddy?!" Jonas cried, sliding off the bed he ran to Rip who fell to his knees to catch him.

Tears slid down Rip's cheeks as he held Jonas to him for several minutes before he pushed the boy back to check him, "Are you okay? Did they hurt you?"

"They hurt mummy," Jonas whispered.

Rip wiped the tears from his son's cheek, "I know. I'm sorry I couldn't stop them."

Jonas hugged him again and Rip looked up to see Amy wiping her eyes.

"Hey," Rip pulled back again, "I want you to meet someone. This," he turned Jonas to look at the redhead, "Is Amy. And she's your aunt."

Confusion covered the little boy's face, "How?"

They both chuckled, before Rip explained, "Because I discovered I have a brother and Amy is his wife. This means you also have a grandfather and cousins."

Amy crouched beside them, "It is so good to meet you, Jonas," she said, "And I'm looking forward to getting to know you."

Jonas gave her a small smile.

Rip stood, "We need to get Jonas to UNIT. I will send you both there then bring the ship once I have deactivated the homing beacon and ensured they think Mace has followed orders."

Amy nodded but Jonas gripped Rip tightly.

"Don't leave me, Daddy," the little boy cried.

Rip crouched down and gently stroked his son's hair, "I won't be long, but I need you to be safe. Amy will look after you. I trust her completely."

"I know you're scared," Amy joined him, "But I will not let anything happen to you. I promise."

After a few moments Jonas nodded.

Rip kissed the top of his son's head, "I won't be long." He pulled out the phone again and quickly dialled, "Kate, I'm sending Amy to you." The moment she confirmed the shields were down, Rip opened the portal.

"I'll join you soon, Little Man," Rip promised as Amy took Jonas' hand and walked him back to UNIT HQ.

As the portal closed, Rip let out a shaky sigh before forcing himself to focus. He had work to do in order to retrieve Gideon and rescue his brother.

Amy could feel how scared the little boy holding her hand was. His eyes remained on his father until the moment the portal closed.

"Hello," Kate said softly, "And who is our latest guest?"

Amy smiled, "Kate Stewart, I'd like you to meet Jonas Hunter."

"Hunter?"

Smiling Amy nodded, "This is Rip's son."

Kate smiled, "It is a pleasure to meet you, Jonas. Welcome to UNIT."

"Hello," the boy said quietly, edging closer to Amy.

"Kate is in charge here," Amy told Jonas with a grin, "But she's also really nice. Come on, how about we get you something to eat and, when your dad gets back, we'll introduce you to some people who will be really excited to meet you."

Amy took Jonas to a small private room to let him get some food before overwhelming him with a new grandfather, she wanted Rip to be there to do that introduction anyway.

"Are you really my aunt?" Jonas spoke up suddenly.

Amy nodded, "Yes, I'm married to your dad's brother Rory. Would you like to see a picture?"

"Uh hu," Jonas murmured.

Pulling out her phone Amy scrolled through her pictures to find one of Rory and Rip together, finally finding one from their birthday a few months before.

"Here," she handed Jonas the phone, "This was taken not long ago."

Jonas nervously took the phone and stared at the two men, both smiling at the camera even if Rip's smile was a little reluctant.

"I've never had an aunt or an uncle before," Jonas told her, "Mummy said it was because she and daddy had no other family."

Amy nodded, "That was true. We only met your dad a few years ago and he was very surprised."

"How?"

"That is a long story which I'll let your dad tell you," Amy chuckled, "But he and Rory bonded very quickly. Your dad is our family which makes you family too," she smiled again, "We'll have something to eat and once your dad gets back, there are some people I want you to meet."

Jonas stared at her for a moment before nodding, "Okay."

Rip landed the Jumpship and sat for a few moments taking slow deep breaths to centre himself. His entire world was spinning right now and his joy at having his son back was tempered by his fear for Rory and Gideon. Shaking himself, Rip needed to get something to eat and then introduce Jonas to his grandfather.

Kate met him as he exited the small ship, "Your friends are locked away where they can't cause any problem."

"Good," Rip nodded as he walked with her through the corridors, "I've ensured the Jumpship's homing beacon has been disabled but let the Vanishing Point know mission accomplished. That will give us some time."

Kate mused for a moment, "Do you think they will come after us?"

"I doubt they will," Rip replied, "Although UNIT is known, you're connected to a Time Lord and are important within the timeline. They also have no reason to connect me or Rory to you."

"That's good to know," she said before changing the subject, "I've met your son. He is a lovely little boy."

Rip felt pride fill him, "He is."

"Amy has fed him but is waiting for you to introduce him to Brian," Kate continued, "After that I think we should have the time for a full debriefing."

Rip nodded, "I think that is definitely needed. For both of us."

She led him through to a door and the moment he stepped inside Jonas was attached to him.

"Hey, little man," Rip smiled, hugging his son close, "I told you I wouldn't be long."

Jonas said nothing simply holding onto Rip. Looking over at Amy he mouthed his thanks, which his sister-in-law rolled her eyes at, reminding him with a look he was family.

"Jonas," Rip pried his son off him and crouched so they were face to face, "I have someone I really want you to meet."

Taking Jonas' hand, Rip followed Amy to what had been labelled 'The Family Room'. When she opened the door, Rip smiled to see his dad sitting singing to the twins. Brian looked up and surprise covered his face seeing Jonas. Amy picked up BJ while Osgood who had been sitting silently to one side took Michael.

"Jonas," Rip said, moving his son to his father, "I want you to meet your grandfather."

Shyly Jonas looked at Brian, watching as Rip's father crouched so he was face to face with his new grandson.

"It is nice to meet you, Jonas," Brian said with a smile, "I am so happy that you're home with us."

Before Jonas could say anything, Amy crouched down motioning Osgood to join her.

"These are your cousins," Amy told Jonas, "Osgood is holding Michael Gideon, named after your dad and of course Gideon, while I'm holding Brian Jonas, or BJ as we call him. Named for your grandfather and…"

"Me?" the little boy asked stunned.

Rip hugged Jonas close, "I thought I'd lost you. Rory and Amy wanted a small way to keep you with me. So they included your name."

BJ squirmed to get down, and as Amy let him stand Michael followed his brother. Holding onto a hand to toddle over to Jonas, the twins babbled at him interested in the new person. Jonas slowly sat down and soon his cousins were climbing onto him. Rip and Amy shared a smile as they watched the boys bonding.

Now they had to get Rory back.
