CH 3
Few minutes later they arrived back at Jack place, when they got inside, they quickly got changed before Daniel and Sam showed up. Teal'c waited till Jack arrived home before calling Daniel.
When Daniel got the call, they knew that they were close to Jack place. He said that he had to pick something up at Jack place before dropping Sam off home. When they got to Jack place, all the lights were out except for the front porch and one light in the house.
"I'll be back in a minute Sam"
Daniel went into the house, where everyone was waiting, Jack pulled back the curtain and watched for Sam. Ten minutes later Sam was getting worried so she got out of the car and headed up to his front porch, when that was happening. Jack gave the signal that she was coming, then he quickly moved behind the door when she opened it and walked in.
"Daniel" there was no sound.
"Daniel, where the hell are you?"
Sam moved into the house further and Jack flicked the switch so the front porch light went out.
"Shit, Daniel stop playing tricks for crying out loud where the hell are you" Jack was grinning and decided to put Sam out of her misery, he flicked all the lights on all at once.
"SURPRISE"
Every one yelled, making Sam jump, then she put her hand on her chest like she was going to have a heart attack. Jack stood behind her and he put his hands on her shoulder, she quickly spun around to see him there with a grin on his face.
Sam put her head on his chest so he wrapped his arms around her; every one was looking at them. Then she pulls away from Jack.
"Well I can be full of surprises Sam"
"Don't I know it, thank you"
"Your welcome, come on there is a huge chocolate cake with your name on it waiting for you outside"
They walked toward the back sliding door, as she was walking among her friends and work mates, they were wishing her a happy birthday, till she got outside to be greeted by more from the SGC. It was a cold late spring night, there were portable lights that lit up Jack's backyard, then some people parted from around a table, and Jack escorted her to it.
She was shocked to see a seventy centimetre square meter chocolate heart shaped cake with 'Happy birthday Samantha' on it and white chocolate roses around it with lit candles.
Everyone sang happy birthday songs to her, Sam closed her eyes, then opened them and blew out the candles, everyone clapped and cheered, Jack took her up to his back patio, he put his hand up, everyone went quiet. Daniel showed up with a drink for them both.
"I would like to thank everyone for come here tonight to celebrate Sam birthday, I hope you all enjoy yourselves, so raise your glasses to Sam"
"To Sam" they all said.
"Well talk about one surprise after another tonight, thank you all, and thank you Jack for this evening this is a wonderful surprise, well I hope you all enjoy yourselves tonight, but I feel bit out of place with my clothing, well any way, thank you all"
They all clap and then they start talking to one another, Jack pulls Sam inside the house and into his bedroom.
"Sam Janet and Cassie went around to your place and brought you some clothes for you to get change into" Sam saw her bag on Jack bed
"Thanks Jack, for tonight, for every thing"
She steps closer to him and wraps her arms around his neck and kisses him. Jack wrapped his arms around her waist to pull her closer. While they were kissing, Jacob and George went to find them; they stopped in the hallway outside of Jack's room.
Jacob quietly closed the bedroom door without letting them know that they were there then walked down the hallway back to the lounge. Daniel and Ferretti just walk in when they see Hammond pass Jacob fifty dollars.
"Ah sir, what is going on?" Daniel asks.
"George and I had a bet a few weeks back and I won," Jacob said smiling.
"What was the bet sir?" Ferretti asks,
"I bet George here that Jack and Sam will be kissing on her birthday"
"Yea we know it was Sam's birthday... Wait a minute, it's more than a birthday kiss" Daniel said.
"Yep and it's about time to" Jacob said
"Sir, what about the regs?" Ferretti ask
"We just call it a birthday kiss till midnight, shell we, I'm sure you want to let the others know" Hammond said, grinning
"Yes sir, I better find Walter" they all went outside and Ferretti found Walter.
"Hey Walter, you owe me twenty bucks," Ferretti said yelling.
They saw Ferretti walk over to Walter and tell him what just happened, and they both looked at Hammond, he nodded to let him know it was true, then everyone found out about the kissing, the other team members were starting to pull their wallets out.
"Well George it seems we weren't the only ones betting on Jack and Sam"
When Jack and Sam break apart for air, Jack leans his forehead against Sam.
"Wow"
"Yea, I better let you get change, I'll go and grab some cake for us before it is all gone"
"Ok, thanks for tonight Jack"
"Any time Sam"
Jack gave Sam a kiss before leaving the room so she could get changes.
Jack opens the door and froze Sam and notices that he stops at the door.
"Jack what's wrong?"
"That's strange when we came in here the door was open" Sam thought about what Jack just said.
"Yeah, you're right, perhaps some one must of close it to give us some privacy"
"Could be, see you outside"
"Ok"
Jack took one look at Sam in the dress before closing the door; he left her to get change before joining the others outside. Jack walks outside the back, when he notices that everyone is grinning, he notices a drunk Daniel, so he walks over to him.
"Daniel, what is everyone grinning about?"
"Hi Jack, oh everyone is happy for you and Sam"
"What do you mean Daniel?" Jack was puzzled.
"General Hammond and Jacob saw you and Sam kissing in your bedroom, oh Jacob won the bet"
"What, what bet?"
"You will have to ask him"
"I think I will, thank Daniel"
Jack walked through the crowd till he found Jacob talking to Hammond.
"Sir, Jacob what's this I hear you two been betting on Sam and me tonight?"
"It's true Jack, we been betting on you and Sam since I first meet you seven years ago"
"Oy, who else has been betting on Sam and me?"
"Every one from the SGC"
"I hate to ask who started betting on us?"
"Ferretti and Kawaski it happen after the briefing when you first meet Sam" Hammond said,
"I should have known after they were giving her a hard time, what was the first bet?"
"Arm wrestling"
"Oh man, after the way she challenge me that morning and the first mission, I just can't believe what those two started"
"Well you two both have come along way since then"
"Yea true, I'm going to get some cake before Teal'c eats it all"
Then Jack left to grab some birthday cake for Sam and himself. By that time Sam had changed and started to head outside when her phone rang, so she got it and went back to Jack's bedroom.
"Carter"
"Sam, where are you?"
"Pete, where are you?"
"I'm at your house, where are you?"
"I'm at General O'Neill house, Daniel told me that he had to pick up something before dropping me off home"
"Oh, is that music I can hear?"
"Yes, there is a party" then Jack knocks on the door.
"Sam I hope you're decent in there"
"Yes I am, you can come in"
"Sam why are you at his house for"
Jack opens the door and walks in, Sam mouths the word 'Pete', Jack nodded when he saw her on the phone and waited till she was finished on the phone.
"Everyone from work through me a surprise birthday party here"
"why wasn't I invited"
"Cause for one you told me that you couldn't make it to dinner tonight, till half an hour before I left for the restaurant, which I had to call to change things there before Daniel pick me up"
"Well can I come around, I would like to meet some of your work mates"
"I don't know you will have to ask the General here"
"Ask me what?"
"Pete wants to come around"
"Well it's you to you Sam, you are the birthday girl, the choice is yours" Sam looked at Jack for a moment.
"Pete you can come around on one condition" Sam could see that Jack was disappointed in her decision
"Sure, name it?"
"You bring one hundred and thirty five dollars with you" Sam said, looking at Jack
"Why?"
"Cause that is how much you owe General O'Neill here, he had to pay for your dinner, since you didn't pay for it"
"Sorry, ok, I'll get some cash out before I leave, so where does he live?" Sam gave him Jack's address before hanging up.
Then she went and sat on his bed. Jack put the two plates on his dresser, then sat down next to Sam. He put his arm around her, she leaned against him.
They were quiet for a moment, then Jack noticed Jacob in the doorway, so he got up and walked over to him. Jack told him about what just happened, so Jacob sat next to Sam and put his arm around her like what Jack did before.
Jack closes his door and leaves them to talk in private. Then went out back and grabbed a bottle of beer and he watched every one having a good time from his patio. Hammond and Teal'c walk over to him.
"Jack, where is Sam?"
"She was in my bedroom with Jacob, Shannon called her, he wanted to know where she was, when she told him. He wasn't happy that she was here, he must have been waiting for her at her place, he upset her tonight again and that piss me off"
"Where is he now?"
"He will be here in few minutes, hopefully with the money he owes me"
"I know about that, Jacob told me"
"Yeah, well I hope he doesn't stick around otherwise I'll do some thing I might regret later"
"Well I hope you don't Jack"
Back in Jack's bedroom Jacob and Sam were still quiet for a few minutes.
"How are you feeling Sam?"
"I don't know, I like Pete, but sometimes he reminds me of Jonas. Jack isn't like that. After tonight finding out that Jack has been my secret admirer after all these years. He was the one who was sending me the roses all this time. Since the first year I was working here at the SGC, when he sent me the roses and the vase then three years ago when he sent me another vase for Christmas. Now both vase are full of roses that he been sending me all this time"
"Well at least it is one way for him to show you his love for you without getting into trouble"
"True, he told me tonight, that he was willing to retire and for him to get to know me as Sam Carter not colonel Sam Carter"
"Well he has waited for eight years, now that all the goa'uld are defeated and the jaffa are free. The choice is yours Sam. Listen to your heart, I just want you to be happy"
"I know"
"Whatever you decided, I'll back you up, no matter what"
"Thanks dad" they both hug. Then they heard a knock on the door and Jack pokes his head in.
"Hey are you ok"
"Yes thanks, is everything ok out there?" Jack walk into the room
"Yep, Teal'c and George gone to get some more food and drinks, Daniel pass out few minutes ago, I got Ferretti to help me move him to the spear room for the night"
"How many beers did he have tonight?"
"Two here, that's not including the one he had at dinner"
"Oh well he will be suffering in the morning"
"Luckily I brought a bottle of aspirin tonight on the way home, just in case he did get drunk" Sam smiles at what Jack just said.
"Well we should go and see what's going on. I'm sure they would be asking where the birthday girl is," Jacob said. They both stood up and hugged.
"I'll see you guys outside" then Jacob left them alone.
