CH 6
The next morning Jack called Walter to see if there was anything important to be done for the morning, when he said, 'No'. Jack told him that Sam and him are taking the morning off, which surprised Walter. Jack picks up Sam from her place and they go shopping together.
They went to three stores to look at engagement rings. There was nothing there that Sam liked, so they both went to a café for some cake and coffee, before continuing on. Then the next jewellery shop they went to. Sam looked at the diamond rings that they had in as well the price.
"Sam, don't look at the prices, just the rings," Jack whispered to her.
"Jack, but they are expensive"
"Sam, is there any one you like?"
"Yes"
"Which one?"
"The third from the left"
Jack looked at it. It was three; round diamonds set in 18ct white gold with a yellow gold band. Jack smiled and he got the shop assistant's attention, she walked over to them.
"Hello, can I help you"
"Yes, the third ring on the left, the one with the three diamonds"
"ah, yes, that is a lovely ring"
She gets the ring out of the casing box and passes it to Jack. Jack got the ring and went to put it on Sam's finger.
"Jack, what are you doing?"
"Seeing if it fits or not" when it did fit, they both look at it on her hand and smile.
"I'll take it"
Jack pulled out his wallet and he passed his credit card over, While Sam was looking at the ring on her finger. Once paid for and Jack thanked the assistance, then they both left the shop with their arms around each other. They got into Jack truck and headed to the SGC, since they were both working that afternoon.
When they arrived at the first checkpoint, Sam put her left hand on the scanner. The two airmen were shocked when they saw Sam's engagement ring.
Once they both were given the green light, they walked toward the elevator hand in hand. One of them quickly picked up the phone and asked for the control room.
"Hey Walter want some gossip"
"What is it Tom?"
"Greg and I saw colonel Carter and General O'Neill come into together in his truck"
"So what"
"Walter we saw colonel Carter left Hand She was wearing a three diamond engagement ring and we just saw them walk to the elevator hand in hand"
"You're joking right?"
"Nope and not just that, they both were smiling also"
"This I got to see, see you guys later, he should be here soon" then the phone went dead.
Walter got his clipboard and headed to the elevators, waiting for Jack and Sam to show up when he bumped into Daniel who was waiting for the elevator to arrive.
"Sorry Dr Jackson, are you waiting for Colonel Carter and General O'Neill to arrive?"
"Are they on the base?"
"Yes sir, so you're here to congratulate them on their engagement"
"what?" Daniel said in shock
"You didn't know"
"No"
"Oh, boy. Tom from the first checkpoint called to tell me that he and Greg Johnson both saw colonel Carter wearing three diamond engagement ring and they saw them both walking hand in hand towards the elevator"
"This I got to see, so that is why they took this morning off"
"It seams so"
Then the doors open to see both Jack and Sam stand next to one another.
"What's going on, Jack, Sam"
Then he looked at her left hand, it was there alright, so Daniel grabbed Sam's hand to have a better look at it, then he looked at them both who were smiling at that time.
"Congratulations sir, ma'am" Walter said, after he saw the ring himself.
"Thank you Walter, so what's on for this afternoon?"
"You got three briefings and forms to sign also sir"
"Ok first, I'll go and get change and I'll see you in my office in ten"
"Yes sir" then Walter left them. Daniel gave Sam a hug.
"Congratulations you two, what about the regs?"
"Daniel we will talk about that later, things are going to change around here over the next few weeks"
"Oh, ok. Well see you two later, bye" then Daniel walks into the elevator and the doors close.
"I got a gut feeling by the time I get to my office every one on base will know about us" Jack said.
"Well at least all of the single men on base will feel jealous of you" Sam said, as they both walked to the changing rooms.
"Why cause I'm going to marry the most beautiful sexy smart beautiful, did I mention beautiful women on the base who I love?"
"Yes, I think all the single females on the base here will feel jealous also, cause I'm going to marry the man of my dream, who I've been in love with for over eight years who is still sexy today as he was when I first meet him"
"Really?"
"Yes, well see you later fly boy" Sam gives him a kiss before heading to the women's locker room.
Later that afternoon, there was a bright light, Henry Haze appeared in Jack's office.
"Sir, is everything alright?"
"Yes General, I would however like a word with both you and Colonel Carter"
"Sure, let me get her" Jack picked up the phone and dialled the number to Sam lab.
"Sam, can you come to my office… ok see you soon" then he hung up.
"She will be here in five minutes. She said that she is helping another scientist with something and will be here soon. So would you like some coffee sir?"
"Sure, how are things here, since we last spoke?"
"Good sirs" Jack got up and poured two cups of coffee, then passed one to Henry.
"Are you going to miss this place, General?"
"Yeah, I think I will, but I know I'll get an up date from SG1 when we will get together when we all go out for a meal or they show up at my place for those summer barbeques"
"You four are still doing it?"
"Yes sir and they all crash at my place for the night, so they don't drink and drive"
"Good idea" Then there was a knock.
"Come in Sam"
Sam opens the door and walks in with a grin on her face, when Jack looks at Sam, he smiles back at her also. Henry looked one then to the other. He could see the love they both have for each other.
"You wanted to see me sir, Mr President?"
"Yeah, close the door, want some coffee Sam?"
"No thanks" Sam sat down next to the president.
"Sir, now that Sam is here, what is going on?"
"I'm here to congratulate you on your engagement"
"How did you know sir?" Sam asked
"George told me, he called me half an hour ago to give me the good news" He said smiling
"Thank you sir, I wonder who told him" Jack and Sam look at each other.
"Walter" Jack said
"Well he does have his home and cell phone number"
"True"
"Colonel, may I have a look"
"Sure sir" Sam showed Henry the ring, he smiled when he saw it.
"It's beautiful"
"I let Sam choose what ring she wanted sir" Jack said smiling.
"We congratulate you both. I must head back to work, let me know when the wedding is"
"We will sir, we properly have when dad comes to visit next time sir" Sam said
"Well then, I'll leave you two to get back to work"
Then he stood up, then there was a bright light and he was gone. Jack and Sam stood up and Jack around his deck and held Sam in his arms and gave her a kiss.
"God, Sam, soon as you walk in the room, all I wanted to do his kiss you and hold you in my arms like this"
"I know the feeling" Jack started kissing her neck.
"Jack, much as I love what you are doing to my neck, we can continue this later at your place tonight, where there is no camera around" Sam heard him groan
"Yeah, you're right, how about Chinese for dinner?"
"Ok, I'm buying, what time will you be home?"
"2000 hours"
"Ok, see you then, I better get back to work, I don't want to get in to trouble with the boss"
"Oh, I'm sure he will understand" Jack gives Sam a kiss before she leaves to head back to her lab.
Later that night, Sam arrived home at 1830 hours and went to have a quick shower.
She just got dressed when her phone rang.
